Impeachment Update

Impeachment News

1. House transmits Trump impeachment articles to Senate, paving way for historic trial - Fox News

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to transmit the articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate, formally paving the way for a historic trial over the president's dealings with Ukraine after weeks of delay. The resolution, which passed 228-193 largely along party lines, came nearly a month after lawmakers voted to impeach the president on two counts.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., officially signed the articles Wednesday afternoon during an "engrossment ceremony." Clerk of the House Cheryl Johnson and House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving walked a note over to the Senate notifying the upper chamber of Congress that Pelosi had signed the articles of impeachment and appointed managers to the trial.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., ripped into the Democratic efforts, saying, "This is not a moment this body should be proud of. As Pelosi says, impeachment is a national civics lesson. Let's use this blunder as a teachable moment. We wouldn't abuse our power just for the sheer sake of politics to say you're impeached forever because I dislike you," McCarthy added.

"The only thing Speaker Pelosi has achieved with this sham, illegitimate impeachment process, is to prove she is focused on politics instead of the American people," White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement Wednesday. "President Trump has done nothing wrong," she continued. "He looks forward to having the due process rights in the Senate that Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats denied to him, and expects to be fully exonerated."

A source familiar with the Senate trial told Fox News that when they receive the articles, there will be several days of pre-trial preparations and procedural steps before launching into a full trial, which will likely kick off early next week. (Read more)

- Father God, we agree with our President, who states that this process has been a hoax from the beginning. Now, as the Senate takes control of the next steps of this trial, we thank You that those in authority will be lead by Your hand to rule in all truth. In Jesus' name, amen.

- "Let all things be done decently and in order." (I Corinthians 14:40)

2. Pelosi announces House impeachment managers to prosecute case against Trump-Fox News

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday announced the seven lawmakers who will serve as impeachment managers to prosecute the case against President Trump in his imminent Senate trial.

The managers include House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who will be the lead manager and who directed much of the impeachment inquiry out of his committee, and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., whose panel drafted the articles of impeachment.

Pelosi also tapped House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.; Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo.; Val Demings, D-Fla.; Sylvia Garcia, D-Texas; and Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif.

- Father God, we ask that You continue to expose this partisan, illegal coup attempt against the president of the United States. And in the name of Jesus, give Trump and his legal team wisdom and strength as they prepare to defend the president in the Senate.

- "Again, I tell you truly that if two of you on the earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

3. House Dems release new impeachment evidence related to indicted Giuliani associate-Politico

The House Intelligence Committee released new evidence on Tuesday related to the impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, including information turned over by Lev Parnas, an indicted former associate of Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani.

The release, which reflects the unfinished nature of the House's impeachment inquiry, comes ahead of an expected House vote on Wednesday to formally send the impeachment articles to the Senate for a trial.

- Father God, we pray that You protect Giuliani - and those that may be unfairly targeted for their association with the president - from any harm or evil that comes their way.

- Thank You Lord of the Angel Armies that you will fight for us, for we need only be still. (Exodus 13:14)

4. Tillis: Impeachment Witnesses 'Slippery Slope' for Senate-Newsmax

Senators could face a "slippery slope" by calling witnesses in the upcoming impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, and it's likely that lawmakers will instead base their vote on the testimony provided by the House impeachment managers and White House counsel, Sen. Thom Tillis said Wednesday.

"I believe we will hear enough in those arguments to probably lead the majority of us to the conclusion that we don't need to hear other witnesses," the North Carolina Republican told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." But if witnesses are called, Tillis said he agrees with Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who said Tuesday that there should be reciprocity when it comes to calling witnesses, rather than to only allow one side to present evidence.

- Father God, we pray You would lead and guide these senators to produce a fair and balanced trial, and that You would continue to shield president Trump from other attempts to attack his presidency.

- Thank you Lord that our times are in Your hands. Deliver us from the hands of the enemy and from those who persecute us. Make Your face shine upon us, save us in Your loving kindness. (Psalm 31: 15-16)

5. Jonathan Turley: Pelosi 'played into' McConnell's hands, 'destroyed' her own case for impeachment - Fox News

Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley laid out a sweeping indictment of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., arguing that her impeachment strategy backfired and gave Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the upper hand.

"The delay now seems largely driven by a desire to preserve the image of Pelosi as a master strategist despite a blunder of the first order," Turley wrote in a column titled, "Pelosi's Blunder: How the House Destroyed its Own Case for Impeachment."

"There was no reason why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would make concessions to get an impeachment that he loathed," Turley wrote. He similarly suggested that Pelosi pushed impeachment out of "vanity" and would pay a "high price" for doing so. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask that those who will be voting in the trial of impeachment this month in the United States Senate would ponder the words of this law professor; and would seek Your wisdom when doing so. In Jesus name, amen.

- "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)

Focus on Israel

1. Netanyahu holds emergency meeting with Bennett, Peretz - Israel National News

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu held a last-minute emergency meeting with Ministers Naftali Bennett and Rabbi Rafi Peretz Wednesday evening in an effort to secure a unified right-wing list before the 10 PM deadline to submit the party lists.

The ministerial meeting was held in good spirits, but they were unable to reach agreement on the controversial main issue: the inclusion of Otzma Yehudit leader Itamar Ben Gvir in the list.

Prime Minister Netanyahu invited the two to a meeting in Hola and also asked Rabbi Haim Druckman to come to Jerusalem specifically to take part in it.

MK Avigdor Liberman, chairman of the Yisrael Beytenu party, on Wednesday promised that there would not be a fourth round of elections.

In an interview with North Radio, Liberman said: "The good news is that there won't be a fourth round of elections. I'm saying this live and I promise it. For me, a word is a promise. There will not be fourth elections."

This is not the first time Liberman has made such a promise. In October 2019, Liberman promised that a "broad government" would be formed. "There won't be a t, hird round of elections," he promised then.

3. IDF strikes Hamas in response to Gaza rocket attacks - Israel National News

Israeli fighter planes struck several targets belonging to the Hamas terrorist organization in the northern Gaza Strip Wednesday night, an IDF spokesperson stated.

The airstrikes were in retaliation to the launching of four rockets at Israel by terrorists in the Gaza Strip Wednesday afternoon.

The IDF stated that it takess the firing of rockets into Israeli territory "very severely, and will continue to act as necessary against attempts to harm Israeli civilians."

"The Hamas terror organization is responsible for what is happening inside and outside of the Gaza Strip and it will have consequences for actions against Israeli citizens," the statement concluded.

4. Jordan's king warns of Israeli annexation, 'untold chaos' of possible U.S.-Iran war - YNET News

Jordan's King Abdullah II warned Wednesday that if Israel succeeds in imposing "an unthinkable solution" by annexing parts of the West Bank, hopes for a two-state solution and Palestinian state would quickly come to an end.

In a speech delivered to European lawmakers on the tensions boiling across the Middle East, Abdullah added Israel's construction of settlements in the West Bank and "disregard of international law" could be summed up as "one state turning its back on its neighborhood, perpetuating divisions among peoples and faiths worldwide."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly vowed to apply Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley, a natural barrier separating the West Bank and Abdullah's Hashemite Kingdom, if re-elected premier in the general election scheduled for March 2.

5. Knesset lawyer tells court no conflict of interest on forming PM immunity panel - Times Of Israel

The Knesset's legal adviser on Wednesday called for the High Court of Justice to throw out a petition seeking to overrule his decision allowing the formation of a panel that will deal with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's request for parliamentary immunity from corruption charges.

Likud MK Miki Zohar's petition, filed Sunday, says Eyal Yinon cannot deal with the cases due to a "serious conflict of interest" stemming from the fact that his wife, Amit Merari, is part of the team of prosecutors who worked on the prime minister's criminal cases.

The petition was filed shortly before Yinon issued a legal opinion that would allow a Knesset committee to debate - and, with the current balance of power in parliament, likely reject - Netanyahu's immunity request before the March 2 elections.

In his response to the court, Yinon acknowledged the conflict of interest, but said his legal opinion had no bearing on the actual cases against Netanyahu or the expected immunity proceedings in the Knesset.

1. Donald Trump Signs Phase One Trade Deal with China-Breitbart

President Donald Trump hosted a signing of the phase one trade deal with China on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in pressuring China for fairer trade relations with the United States.

"Today we take a momentous step," Trump said, claiming the deal helped "right the wrongs of the past."

The Vice Premier read a statement from President Xi in Chinese, thanking President Trump for working out a deal that he called "good for the U.S. and China and the world," according to a translator.

Xi also said in the statement that he looked forward to phase two of the deal, which would make relations between the two countries even better.

2. Innocent': Michael Flynn files to withdraw guilty plea-Washington Examiner

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn filed to withdraw his guilty plea late Tuesday.

The motion, filed by Flynn's legal team, which cites "the government's bad faith, vindictiveness, and breach of the plea agreement," comes one week after the Justice Department asked a federal judge to sentence President Trump's former national security adviser to up to half a year in prison.

"It is beyond ironic and completely outrageous that the prosecutors have persecuted Mr. Flynn, virtually bankrupted him, and put his entire family through unimaginable stress for three years," wrote former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell and her co-counsel wrote in a filing in the U.S. District Court in D.C.

Thank You Righteous Judge of the earth that the enemy will not deceive Judge Sullivan, the prosecuting authorities or us, nor will the son of wickedness afflict us. You will crush our adversaries before us, and strike those who hate us in the name of Jesus. (Psalm 89: 22-23)

3. Devin Nunes: We Were Told in Early 2017 by Highest Levels of DOJ that General Flynn Didn't Lie to the FBI - thegatewaypundit

Nunes also told The Ingraham Angle that Republican lawmakers were told way back in 2017 that General Flynn was innocent and DID NOT LIE to FBI investigators.

Rep. Devin Nunes: Well, we knew early on in 2017 that Michael Flynn did not lie to the FBI. We actually put that in our report. It didn't come out until 2018 after Flynn had already pled. But there were several of us as witnesses. We also told the highest levels of DOJ that we had been briefed by the FBI that Flynn didn't lie to the FBI.

Laura Ingraham: Didn't Peter Strzok come out of that meeting with Flynn and thinking he didn't lie? Devin Nunes: Well, interesting that you'd say that. There's missing documentation that we never received. And then . . . I want to make sure everybody understands this. We put in our report and some of the things that General Flynn is saying and what he gave to the court today withdrawing his plea. He's saying he's been treated unfairly. Remember we put this in our report in 2018 and for some reason it was redacted! We had to fight for what seemed for a couple months in order to get that un-redacted.

- Father God, thank You for shedding light on the lies that have been spread about Michael Flynn. Continue to fully vindicate Flynn and his family, and restore all that has been stolen from them.

4. Trump administration starts returning migrants deep into Mexico to combat border crisis-Fox News

The Trump administration has started returning Mexican migrants deep into the country's interior as part of an expanding effort to deter illegal immigration and combat the ongoing crisis at the border.

The Department of Homeland Security started running flights from Tucson, Ariz., to Guadalajara in December. Officials say the migrants being returned are all Mexican nationals from non-border Mexican states who typically have either recently illegally entered the U.S., or who had gone through the court system but were ruled to be deportable by an immigration judge.

The plan marks a departure from past practice of releasing migrants at the border. The idea would be to make it harder for repeat offenders to try and cross the border again if they are returned hundreds of miles away. Officials say returning people closer to their hometowns is better for them as well, and allows them to receive services from the Mexican government.

5. Federal judge blocks Trump order allowing states to refuse to settle refugees-The Hill

A federal judge in Maryland temporarily blocked an executive order signed by President Trump that would allow state and local governments to refuse to accept refugees.

Judge Peter J. Messitte of the Maryland District Court granted a motion from refugee groups to temporarily stay the order while their legal challenge against the president plays out.

The lawsuit was brought by the refugee groups HIAS, Church World Service and the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service.

6. CBP: It's a Crime for Migrants Seeking Asylum to Illegally Cross the Border - CNSNews.com

Brian Hastings, chief of law enforcement for Customs and Border Protection, told a House Homeland Security subcommittee on Tuesday that if migrants seeking asylum cross the border illegally, it's a crime.

During Tuesday's hearing titled, "Assessing the Adequacy of DHS Efforts to Prevent Child Deaths in Custody," Rep. Al Green (D-Texas) asked Hastings whether those seeking asylum are criminals. (Read this discussion by going here.)

7. ERA defunct; threat to religious liberty neutralized - OneNewsNow

A direct assault on Christian values met its match last week when the Equal Rights Amendment was unable to gain approval by the requisite number of states by the prescribed deadline.

After the Department of Justice announced last week the failure of the pro-abortion and pro-LGBTQ Equal Rights Amendment to get enough states to support its ratification by its deadline, evangelical leaders considered the news a victory for Christians and pro-family advocates.

Liberty Counsel founder and chairman Mat Staver argues that the passage of the legislation pushed by the left would have dealt a severe blow to religious liberty and the safety of families. "The religious freedom of individuals, churches and faith-based organizations would have been jeopardized, as well as the rights and privacy of women," he asserts in a press release. (Read more)

8. US will reverse more tariffs for 'Phase 2' trade deal: Mnuchin - Market Insider

"Just as in this deal there were certain rollbacks, in 'phase two' there will be additional rollbacks," Mnuchin told CNBC. "The first step is really focusing on enforcement, but this gives China a big incentive to get back to the table and agree to the additional issues that are still unresolved."

Mnuchin's statement arrives hours before top American and Chinese officials are expected to ink the first major deal in the trade war since it began in summer 2018. The agreement calls on China to purchase up to $200 billion worth of US goods. The nation is also expected to tighten intellectual property laws and boost transparency within its financial sector.

In turn, the Trump administration agreed to slash in half a 15% duty on $110 billion worth of imports and delay future escalations. The rates on the remaining $250 billion worth of tariffs held steady. (Read more)

9. Iran warns Europe on nuclear deal: 'Tomorrow the European soldier could be in danger'-The Hill

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday warned European nations that have accused the country of breaking the Iran nuclear deal.

The leader said that currently only American soldiers are in danger, but pending European countries' decision on whether or not to impose economic sanctions on Iran, European soldiers could also face a threat.

The statement came on Tuesday after Britain, France and Germany made the formal accusation that Iran broke the 2015 agreement that limited its nuclear program, taking the first step toward reimposing United Nations sanctions and isolating Iran.

10. Russia's prime minister resigns after Putin suggest constitutional amendments to boost power - ABCNews

MOSCOW -- President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of his prime minister Wednesday after proposing constitutional amendments that could herald his intention to carve out a position that would let him stay at Russia's helm after his presidency ends.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who served as a placeholder president in 2008-2012 to allow Putin to observe term limits, said in televised comments that he needed to resign in light of his mentor's proposed changes in government.

Putin thanked Medvedev for his work and appointed him as the deputy head of the presidential Security Council.

In his state of the nation address earlier in the day, Putin suggested amending the constitution to allow lawmakers to name prime ministers and Cabinet members. The authority to make those appointments currently belongs to Russia's president.

"It will increase the role of parliament and parliamentary parties, powers and independence of the prime minister and all Cabinet members," Putin told an audience of top officials and lawmakers. (Read more) https://abc7news.com/5852458/

- Father, as we watch the movements of Vladimir Putin in Russia, we bring him before Your Throne of Grace. Let nothing be done by his hand that is outside of Your will for that nation. May revival spring forth among the Russian people, we pray.

- "Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10)

Democrat debate confirms what's so wrong

The seventh debate of Democratic presidential candidates in so many ways demonstrated exactly what is wrong with the Democratic Party. Lies, half-truths, accusations, and the possibility that the debate was rigged because of a biased moderator. Sadly, these are all things that the American public has come to expect from the party because we see them every day in the news. Even more sadly, that about half the voters in America believe these shenanigans to be totally acceptable, normal, and on the side of what is right with the country rather than having clear discernment that these candidate's behavior is precisely what is wrong with our nation's politics.

I admit, I did not watch the debate. Instead, some friends of ours, my wife and I watched a re-run of America's Got Talent. How ironic because the transcripts of the debate would indicate that there is not a whole lot of talent in Democratic Party leadership-unless you are looking for talented deceivers and twisters of the truth-even against one another, their own teammates. You see, the character issues here go very deep. For example, Fauxcahantus Elizabeth Warren refused to shake fellow socialist Bernie Sander's hand after the debate, mainly because she was upset with him denying her apparent lie that Sanders had privately told her a woman couldn't win. And the Sanders team is saying the CNN debate host was favorable to Warren. And you know what? The transcript would show that CNN Moderator Abby Phillips did favor Warren.

And the lies-oh wow! Senator Bernie Sanders falsely claimed in his closing remarks that half of the country was earning just $9 to $10 an hour. Fact is, A forty-hour workweek at $10 dollars per hour would equal an annual income of $20,800. The US Bureau of the Census estimates annual median personal income at $41,000 in 2019. If Joe Biden was Pinocchio his nose would have poked eyes. Biden claimed credit for defeating ISIS (fact: not even close); that the Iran nuclear deal was working (fact: Iran never ended its nuclear research); and that President Trump used military force in Iran (it was Iraq). There were several more outrageous claims by the other candidates. As II Timothy 3:13 says, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." It's all there for the world to see.

Elizabeth Warren, the pundits claim, won the debate. She is a proven liar. She is also someone who wants the government to takeover private enterprise-a socialist, as are the rest of the Democratic Party candidates in various shades. Just another thing wrong with the party. Warren recently sent out a fundraising letter to senior citizens claiming she was a depression-era child who is working class. Such a lie. She was born in 1949, a baby boomer, and her net worth is reported over $8 million. But the Democratic Party senior citizens believe her nonsense as gospel. You look at the Democratic Party debate and you can see what is wrong with American politics-its' all there. And, for a party that calls everyone racist that doesn't agree with them, where is their diversity in candidates-bunch of old rich white people. Really?

A Prayer Request for CHPP

A Prayer Request for CHPP

Dear Friends, Recently, you may have noticed some anomalies in our postings . . . deviating from our normal format. This is due to an "connectivity issue" that the tech support team at Constant Contact (our publisher) has identified between our own computer and our Internet Service Provider (ISP), which is Verizon.

We have been working on this problem all week, and the glitches have not yet been resolved.

Knowing that we are also connected with the greatest power source on earth: our God, working through 5,000 intercessors who read our Daily Briefs, we are confident that if we all "touch and agree" on the promise of His Word, this issue will be solved quickly!

It is written:

"For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light."

Thank you all!

Classic Hymns

THIS IS MY FATHER'S WORLD

"The world is Mine, and all that is in it." (Psalm 50:12)

Lyrics

This is my Father's world, And to my listening ears All nature sings, and round me rings The music of the spheres. This is my Father's world: I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world, The birds their carols raise, The morning light, the lily white, Declare their maker's praise. This is my Father's world: He shines in all that's fair; In the rustling grass I hear Him pass; He speaks to me everywhere.

this is my Father's world. O let me ne'er forget That though the wrong Seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet. This is my Father's world: The battle is not done: Jesus who died shall be satisfied, And earth and Heav'n be one.

This is my Father's world, Dreaming, I see His face. I ope my eyes, and in glad surprise Cry, "The Lord is in this place." This is my Father's world, From the shining courts above, The Beloved One, His Only Son, Came-a pledge of deathless love.

This is my Father's world, Should my heart be ever sad? The lord is King-let the heavens ring. God reigns-let the earth be glad. This is my Father's world. Now closer to Heaven bound, For dear to God is the earth Christ trod. No place but is holy ground.

This is my Father's world. I walk a desert lone. In a bush ablaze to my wondering gaze God makes His glory known. This is my Father's world, A wanderer I may roam; Whate'er my lot, it matters not, My heart is still at home.

Iranian Muslim Leader Admits That Mass Christian Conversion Is Happening In Iran

In 1979, an Iranian revolution established a strict Islamic regime. As a result, persecutions against the Christian population intensified and is still evident until today. The regime has kicked out missionaries. They have ban Bibles and churches. It is illegal to evangelize. Moreover, many pastors and believers have been killed.

What remained for the believers in Iran were the small emerging Iranian churches that many thought would not survive. However, fueled by their passion for the Lord, these churches have multiplied exponentially through the years.

Further, many Muslims in Iran have been converting to Christianity. Reports have been claiming that there are now over 1 million believers in Iran who are secretly practicing their Christian faith. (Read more)
