Trump celebrates Supreme Court limits on 'colossal abuse of power' by federal judges

President Donald Trump celebrated after the Supreme Court moved to block lower courts from issuing universal injunctions, something that had impacted his executive orders.

The president held a news conference just over an hour after the ruling was issued and said the Supreme Court had stopped a "colossal abuse of power."

"I was elected on a historic mandate, but in recent months, we've seen a handful of radical left judges effectively try to overrule the rightful powers of the president to stop the American people from getting the policies that they voted for in record numbers," Trump said on Friday.

Because of the ruling, the Department of Justice will "promptly file to proceed with numerous policies that have been wrongly enjoined on a nationwide basis," Trump said.

Trump also accused lower court judges of trying to "dictate the law for the entire nation" rather than ruling on the cases before them.

On Friday, Supreme Court justices ruled 6-3 to allow the lower courts to issue injunctions only in limited instances, though the ruling leaves open the question of how the ruling will apply to the birthright citizenship order at the heart of the case. (Fox News) Read more here.

- Lord God, today we rejoice with our President upon learning of this ruling and of many more that were released yesterday by the Supreme Court. These opinions have brought our nation back into alignment wth the meaning of the Constitution, and in many cases, have restored the rights of the American people as our Founders intended.

Lord God, today we also wish to honor the many intercessors who have stood watch over each hearing about these cases when we were notified of the Court's docket. CHPP wishes, in particular, to honor the many who have also served as "boots on the ground," day and night, both inside and outside the Court in prayer while these hearings were taking place. Thank You, Lord, for your many, many saints in our land, who are "holding the ground" for You, in Jesus' name, amen and amen!

- " . . . he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Philippians 1:6)
Senate Parliamentarian Deals Huge Blow To Critical Part Of GOP's ‘Big Beautiful Bill'
Elizabeth MacDonough
Please note: The Parliamentarian of the United States Senate is the official advisor to the United States Senate on the interpretation of Standing Rules of the United States Senate and parliamentary procedure. Incumbent parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough has held the office since 2012, appointed by then-Senate majority leader Harry Reid.

WASHINGTON – The Senate parliamentarian said that major Medicaid cuts in the GOP’s massive tax and spending package violate the chamber’s rules — a big setback for President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda. Republicans already were having big disagreements over the Medicaid provisions of their so-called Big Beautiful Bill, and the parliamentarian’s ruling threatens to blow up the legislation altogether.

The core of the bill is a package of tax cuts costing around $4 trillion financed in part by about $1 trillion in spending cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The Senate’s in-house rules expert has now thrown the cuts into doubt, potentially making it even harder for Republicans to claim the legislation is fiscally responsible.

The rulings announced Thursday morning by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), who has led Democrats’ challenges to the bill’s provisions in closed-door meetings with the parliamentarian, concern cuts to Medicaid funding for states that cover noncitizens, a ban on gender-affirming care in the Children’s Health Insurance Program and a limit on “provider taxes” states use to finance their portion of Medicaid spending. “Democrats are fighting back against Republicans’ plans to gut Medicaid, dismantle the Affordable Care Act, and kick kids, veterans, seniors, and folks with disabilities off of their health insurance — all to fund tax breaks for billionaires,” Merkley said in a statement.

Senate Republicans already had been trying to rework their provider tax cut in order to win over moderates. Now they’ll have to go back to the drawing board with less than two weeks until a self-imposed July Fourth deadline to get the bill to Trump’s desk.

The biggest Medicaid cut in the bill ― new “work requirements” for nondisabled adults ― remains intact.

Republicans could try to rework the stripped-out provisions and make their case again to the parliamentarian for why they do comply with the Senate’s rules under a special fast-track process that avoids a filibuster. They could try to find budget savings elsewhere to offset the cost of the tax cuts in the bill. Or they could try a more controversial maneuver and vote to overturn the ruling, which is technically an advisory opinion. Any option would take more time off the clock. - Father God, we do not wish to offer a prayer before Your Throne of Grace that is rude or impolite, but in this case, we will. It seems that this article has shown us a hidden thing that has been revealed - a "snake in the grass" - one who can simply rule against a majority opinion with the stroke of a pen. Father God, this cannot be! We ask that You would move upon the Republican Majority in the United States Senate to strip Elizabeth MacDonough of her power. Let there be a change in the rules of that chamber, so that justice can prevail in the proceedings of the United States Senate. We ask that this drastic move be made in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, amen and amen!

- "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light." (Mark 4:22)
Ted Cruz sees Iranian nuclear hit on US electric grid, ‘millions’ killed

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is raising concerns that a nuclear-armed Iran could easily kill millions of Americans with a surprise attack on the U.S. electric grid, one of a handful of worries the Pentagon has recently focused on.

Cruz, who supports President Donald Trump’s embrace of Israel’s military campaign to stop Iran’s nuclear weapon and ballistic missile programs, warned that the terrorist nation could launch a simple nuclear-armed satellite, fly it over the East Coast, and hit the detonate button as it passes over the electric grid, frying it in an electromagnetic pulse attack.

“I’ve seen the projections. An EMP that took down the electrical grid could result in, over time, millions of deaths in America,” Cruz said on his podcast, “Verdict with Ted Cruz.”

A congressional “EMP Commission” has warned that those in the attack zone would die within a year from a lack of food, healthcare, and chaos.

“Nine of 10 Americans are dead from starvation, disease, and societal collapse. The United States of America ceases to exist,” warned the report.

“An extended blackout today could result in the death of a large fraction of the American people through the effects of societal collapse, disease, and starvation,” added the executive summary.

Cruz correctly noted that Iran is among the countries that the Pentagon believes are planning for an EMP attack. The others are Russia, China, and North Korea.

“They would not need an ICBM to do it if they could get it on a ship or a container and detonated in a port anywhere in America. Or, I’ll tell you, one enormous risk, they could put it on a satellite that is orbiting over, say, the eastern seaboard, and detonate a nuclear weapon, which would set off an EMP and take down the electrical grid,” he warned.

He also said that Iran’s effort to build an intercontinental ballistic missile has only one goal: attacking America. (Washington Examiner) Read more here.
- Father God, we ask that You would call forth the best experts in our nation who will be able to release a plan to secure our grid, as soon as possible. We do thank You, O Lord, that our electrical systems have "held" during the recent heatwave that has gripped much of our country. We are helpless before this threat, so we turn to You, Holy One, to show us the way to safety. In Your Name we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

"O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” (2 Chronicles 20:12)
