96 students baptized during high school worship events after games
|
|
|
Nearly 100 students have been baptized during five periodic worship gatherings held at a Christian high school in Colorado after athletic competitions. Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch launched the 5th Quarter gatherings in fall 2024 and holds the student-focused worship and testimony events twice each academic year. The gatherings draw a few hundred people on average, including students, staff, parents and local residents. So far, 96 students have been baptized. The most recent gathering took place last Friday after a home football game that Valor Christian lost late in the game. Seventeen students were baptized that night.
Natalie Tysdal, a spokesperson for Valor Christian, told The Christian Post Tuesday that Jessika Caldwell, the school’s assistant athletic director for spiritual formation, founded the event. I n a statement provided by Tysdal, Caldwell said she “came across an article about a movement of football players from The Ohio State University where they hosted a revival on their campus where student athletes shared testimonies and there was an opportunity for baptism. I remember sharing with my family how moved I was and then moved on with my day,” Caldwell said. “I remember driving, in the quiet and in prayer as I usually do to school that following Monday, and the Lord spoke to my heart. Why couldn't we do something like this at our highschool, Valor Christian?”
Caldwell sought “to connect to our specific community” and “throw open the doors, lift the roof off our traditional places of worship and go to the place where a lot of student athletes struggle and fight the lies of identity. Sport spaces are those places at times. My prayer was that by creating a space where maybe they didn't expect to encounter the Living God, that they would in turn do so,” she added. My continued prayer is that more schools across the country would offer up opportunities outside of the norm to help our students experience Jesus in a new way,” Caldwell said. Father, we CELEBRATE recent baptisms of almost 100 young athletes at a Colorado high school! Bless every effort of those involved in launching '5th Quarter' gatherings, to worship and experience the presence of God in community. We ask that each student who made a commitment for Christ through baptism would have mentors to guide them in the way of genuine Christian faith. We pray '5th Quarter' student gatherings after sport competitions would spread, so they would experience the love of Jesus and commit to follow him all the days of their lives. We pray for Holy Spirit FIRE to fall upon the younger generations across our nation, all for the Glory of Jesus Christ! In His powerful and mighty Name we pray- Amen.

President Trump Inks Historic Arctic Security Agreement

On Tuesday, Sept. 22, President Donald J. Trump joined leaders of Denmark and Greenland to sign an unprecedented agreement giving the United States lasting control over security interests in Greenland.
|
|
|
The landmark agreement — which comes at no cost to American taxpayers — forever guarantees America the ability to defend the continent, includes permanent basing rights, and bars any U.S. adversary from establishing a base, military presence, or sensitive investment without America’s approval.
The agreement is being hailed at home and around the world as a decisive victory for American security and a stronger NATO in the Arctic. Here’s what they’re saying:
President Donald J. Trump: “As I announced just days ago, the U.S. has also reached an unprecedented agreement regarding the Northern Frontier of North America — the large and strategically vital piece of land known as Greenland. This agreement… gives the United States permanent control over security and all other needs on that territory. We will have the complete ability to do what is necessary to defend the American continent.”
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen: “This day represents a milestone in our longstanding cooperation. 75 years ago, we entered into an agreement about the defense of Greenland. Today, we are signing an even bigger and better agreement — a deal that can last forever. This deal is good for the United States, it’s good for Greenland, for Denmark, for the NATO alliance, and therefore, also good for Europe. In other words, we are strengthening our common security, boosting our common deterrence, showing our adversaries who we are — and we are doing it together.”
Prime Minister of Greenland Jens-Frederik Nielsen: “We are, have been, and will remain a steadfast friend of the United States and a part of the Western alliance. Your security is our security and our security is your security. We are truly pleased with the result that strengthens our shared security and strengthens our bond as close allies. Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen: “An important moment today. Greenland, Denmark and the United States have signed an agreement strengthening security in the Arctic and North Atlantic. It’s been a bumpy ride. But here we are – with a deal in hand that we can all be very satisfied with. We share a long history. And we share a responsibility for the security of our region. Today, we take another important step together – with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Greenlandic people’s right to self-determination. Congo faces health worker shortage as Ebola remains out of control, WHO says
|

BUNIA, Congo (AP) — Congo is running short of health workers to staff treatment centers for history's fastest-growing Ebola outbreak, particularly in the eastern province of North Kivu where cases have surged 73% over three weeks, the World Health Organization said Wednesday.
The warning came despite signs of improvement in other provinces, including Ituri, the outbreak's epicenter. The outbreak has spread to seven provinces, with 7,773 confirmed cases and 3,759 deaths, according to the latest government figures.
Between Aug. 31 and Sept. 20, cases fell 26% in Ituri province and 15% in Haut-Uele, said Marie Roseline Belizaire, the WHO's regional emergency director for Africa. But transmission patterns vary widely and the outbreak remains uncontrolled, she said.
"While cases and deaths are declining in some provinces, they continue to rise in others," Belizaire said. "The outbreak is still not under control and remains spread across a wide geographic area."
The outbreak is spreading under extremely difficult conditions, fueled by insecurity, displacement, a health workers' strike and intense population movements. The World Health Organization has said it is on track to surpass the 2014-2016 West Africa Ebola outbreak, the deadliest on record, which killed more than 11,000 people, primarily in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
WHO representative in Congo Anne Ancia said one Ebola treatment center requires about 300 health professionals, including anesthetists, hygienists, nurses and general practitioners.
"We are building Ebola treatment centers but do not always have the human resources needed to operate them," Ancia said. "Those health workers must be paid."

The U.S. Military Deploys Laser Weapons to Counter Drones in Strait of Hormuz

The United States military has deployed High-Energy Laser with Integrated Optical Dazzler and Surveillance (HELIOS) systems to disable or destroy drones in the Strait of Hormuz and drug cartel drones along the U.S. southern border. The technology has reportedly taken 50 years and $500 million to develop.
The Defense Department confirmed it was now destroying “drones and incoming cruise missiles at a much lower cost than using more expensive kinetic weapons like missiles.” The infrared technology is also being used against Iranian equipment, hardware, and infrastructure.
American soldiers have used reconfigured Xbox game console controllers to operate these lasers. The U.S. military determined that the gaming industry had already created the most effective controller, and opted not to “reinvent the wheel,” especially since service members are so familiar with the devices. Supersonic Russian jets trigger joint scramble by NATO allies amid Putin 'clowns' jab

Finnish and Swedish fighter jets scrambled for the first time on Sept. 24 to intercept supersonic Russian military aircraft flying over the Gulf of Finland, marking a major milestone in Nordic defense cooperation amid heightened tensions with Moscow.
The mission also came one day before Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed European warnings about the threat from Moscow in the region and mocked Estonia's new defense minister over the Baltic state's preparations for a potential Russian attack.
Finnish F/A-18 Hornets and Swedish JAS 39 Gripens were scrambled after Russian aircraft were detected in the international airspace, according to the Swedish Armed Forces.
The Russian formation included a Tu-134 transport plane, a high-altitude, supersonic MiG-31 interceptors designed to detect and engage long-range threats; and Su-30 multirole fighter jets which are designed for air-to-air and air-to-ground combat.
"This is what close cooperation looks like in practice," Maj. Gen. Jonas Wikman, commander of the Swedish Air Force, said in a statement following the joint operation. Built over years on trust and strong personal relationships, we can now operate seamlessly together — as air forces, as nations and as Allies."
Concern over Russian military activity along NATO’s eastern flank has grown following a string of airspace violations.
These include Russian drones entering Polish airspace, a Mi-8 helicopter crossing from Kaliningrad into Poland, drones crashing in Romania and Moldova, and armed Russian jets entering Estonian airspace before being intercepted by NATO aircraft on Sept. 18. (Fox News) Read more here.

Lord God,
Once again we see Russia flexing its muscles against NATO allies over the Gulf of Finland as Supersonic Russian aircrafts were detected in this international airspace. Thank You, Heavenly Father, that Finish and Swedish fighter jets were able to intercept these military fighter jets from Russia and turn them back.
Lord, although Putin and his mocking mindset claims that he was not trying to make war with Europe, Russian military planes did indeed invade internationally over the gulf and it is our prayers that You would bring down this prideful man for not only mocking Estonia's new defense minister but for his arrogance and for the crimes that he has committed against the Ukrainian people.
Father, we pray for protection over the NATO allies and speak wisdom and discernment for the countries near Russia that You would continue to give them boldness to overcome and act on any threat that seeks to try and invade their lands.
We humbly offer this prayer to You. In Jesus' name. Amen and Amen.

1. Qatari PM says Netanyahu is ‘biggest obstacle’ to fulfilling Gaza peace plan

Qatar’s prime minister accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government in a weekend interview of being the main impediment to the advancement of a US-backed peace plan in the Gaza Strip, which has made little progress since a ceasefire took effect last year.
In the interview, which aired Friday on CNN, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani also accused Netanyahu and his political rival, former prime minister Naftali Bennett, of using Qatar for political clout ahead of the upcoming Israeli election on October 27, and denied once again that Doha had funded the Hamas terror group’s military wing.

2. For first time, Israel, United Arab Emirates acknowledge Netanyahu visit - JNS
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met in the United Arab Emirates, the countries acknowledged publicly for the first time on Monday.
Sunday’s meeting between the two leaders focused on “strengthening relations between the two countries and on regional challenges,” according to a readout from the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.
Afra Al Hameli, director of strategic communications for the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that “the two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen ties.” He did not mention “regional challenges.” (Read more)

Israel’s newest and largest submarine has arrived at its naval base in Haifa, adding a new German-built warship to the Israeli Navy as the two countries deepen their decades-long defense partnership and Jerusalem bolsters its strategic underwater deterrence.
As the most expensive submarine ever delivered to the Israeli Navy, the INS Drakon completed its 3,792-nautical-mile journey from Germany on Thursday following 23 days at sea, joining Israel’s fleet as its sixth submarine and the third Dolphin 2-class vessel, at 74 meters long and weighing 2,600 metric tons.
Built by Germany’s ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), one of the world’s leading naval shipbuilders specializing in advanced submarines, the INS Drakon underwent roughly 12 years of planning, construction, and testing.

4. Miliband lashes out at Israel, vows sanctions on Judea and Samaria

British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband sharply criticized Israel on Monday during the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, accusing the Israeli government of causing suffering to Palestinian Arabs and describing the situation as “a stain on the conscience of the world."
Miliband said the government led by Prime Minister Andy Burnham had changed its approach toward Israel. Addressing supporters of the Palestinian cause, he stated, "I want to say to the millions of people in this country and indeed elsewhere who have been moved and outraged by the plight of the Palestinian people: we hear you. You were right," before accusing Israel of "ethnic cleansing by settler terrorists", "war crimes in Gaza" and "an illegal occupation of Palestine."
"When it comes to the attempt to destroy the two-state solution, this party, this movement, this government says: we will not let you succeed," Miliband stated. (Read more)

5. Two new West Bank settlements inaugurated with cabinet ministers on hand

Two new West Bank settlements were inaugurated on Sunday in the region west of Hebron in the south of the territory, in the presence of cabinet ministers and other dignitaries.
An event held by the Mount Hebron Regional Council celebrated the establishment of Makeda and Karmei Yehudah in the southern West Bank, where new inhabitants have taken up residence.

1. Man Wounded In 2024 Trump Assassination Attempt Dies At 76 - Daily Wire
James Copenhaver, one of the two spectators wounded during the 2024 attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was 76.
“Jim Copenhaver, a true American Patriot, has passed away — a tremendous loss,” President Trump wrote Thursday. “More than two years ago in Butler, Pennsylvania, a crazed gunman attempted to stifle our America First Movement. Instead, Jim and so many other wonderful patriots who love our Country, stood united in defense of our shared values of Freedom, Liberty, and Justice.”
Trump praised Copenhaver’s resilience after the attack. “After being wounded while protecting his family, Jim showed tremendous bravery, courageously continuing to FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, and maintaining a positive spirit despite unimaginable hardships,” he wrote, adding that his “indelible legacy of love and devotion will endure forever.”
Copenhaver was shot once in the triceps and once in the abdomen, leaving him with bullet fragments in his body and permanent nerve damage. His family described his injuries as “life-altering.” His family has not disclosed a cause of death, though some reports say he died from complications related to his injuries. The gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was killed by the Secret Service on the rooftop from which he fired at Trump. (Read more)

2. Trump’s polls sink further in warning sign for GOP - The Hill
President Trump’s approval ratings have sunk to new lows in several recent polls, driven by declining GOP support and souring views on the economy in a possible warning sign for Republicans just weeks out from the midterms.
In the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, Trump’s overall approval fell three points from the previous week to an all-time low of 32 percent. Among Republicans, approval of his job performance dropped from 82 percent to 73 percent in a week, down from 86 percent in January 2026 and 91 percent just after his second inauguration.
“For really his entire political career, the president has enjoyed very strong support among the Republican Party and among his base, and that’s still true today, but it’s a bit less true,” Alec Tyson, senior vice president and lead pollster at Ipsos Public Affairs, told The Hill.
Trump has seen a decline in his polling numbers since the Iran war started, according to Tyson, but the latest polling shows a clear dip in recent weeks, which the pollster said tracks with the “striking” drop in how Republicans view the president on economic issues. (Read more)

3. Trump takes a red-state swing as GOP split on whether those states are in play - Washington Examiner
A little more than a month before Nov. 3’s midterm elections, President Donald Trump’s time has become more important as he and his aides seek to change souring public opinion of his second administration in crucial swing states and congressional districts.
But he’ll spend parts of next week in states he carried three times by double digits.
This weekend, Trump is traveling to Knoxville, Tennessee, on Saturday for the University of Tennessee’s game against the Texas Longhorns.

4. GOP senators dismayed by Trump embrace of Xi after China helped Iran target US troops - The Hill
Republican senators are expressing concern and dismay over President Trump’s lavish welcome of Chinese President Xi Jinping to a two-day summit in Washington after it was revealed earlier this month that Iran used Chinese satellite imagery to target U.S. troops in Jordan.
Republican senators were told of deepening military cooperation between Iran and China at a closed-door national security briefing Thursday, heightening their concerns about Trump’s red-carpet welcome of Xi at Joint Base Andrews.
GOP lawmakers called on Trump to confront Xi over reports that China has provided military assistance to Iran and demanded that China produce real concessions on trade, especially U.S. agricultural exports, concessions that have been elusive in Trump’s negotiations with China.
Anna Kelly, a White House spokesperson, said Trump is “reciprocating” the hospitality that Xi showed the president when he visited Beijing in May.
“President Xi hosted President Trump in China for a historic summit this summer, and President Trump is reciprocating his hospitality by welcoming the Chinese delegation for a reciprocal visit this week,” Kelly said.
“The President will forge relationships with anyone in order to advance our national interests and make good deals for the American people,” the spokesperson added. (Read more here.)

Lord, we pray Your wisdom for President Trump as he juggles the welcome of the Chinese president and the confrontation that is needed in China's partnership with Iran against our military troops.
"Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?” It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. And God said to him, “Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, behold, I now do according to your word. 5. 80 countries issue strong condemnation of Iran - Israel Hayom
Led by Bahrain, some 80 countries on Thursday condemned Iran and the Houthis over disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb, Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani told Israel Hayom at UN headquarters. The European Union was also among those condemning the actions.
"Iran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to threaten international security and navigational rights and freedoms," the joint statement said.
The countries called for the full and immediate reopening of the strait, without the imposition of unlawful fees, conditions or payments. They also strongly condemned "the Houthis' decision to resume conflict in Yemen," their continuing attacks on Saudi Arabia and their attacks in the Red Sea.
"We remain steadfast in our support for Security Council Resolution 2817 and call for its immediate implementation," the statement said.
The resolution, adopted in March, condemned "in the strongest terms" Iran's attacks on Gulf states and Jordan and demanded that Tehran halt actions aimed at disrupting maritime trade.
"We condemn the ongoing attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran against countries in the region and the disruption it is causing to international trade, energy security and the global economy," the countries added. (Read more)

6. IDF eliminates Hamas commander who took part in holding October 7 hostages - Times of Israel
The IDF eliminated two Hamas terrorists who operated against IDF troops: One of the terrorists infiltrated Israel during the October 7th Massacre and took part in holding hostages captive
Earlier this week (Wednesday), the IDF struck in the Gaza City area and eliminated the terrorist Hassan Mahmoud Siam, a commander in Hamas’ military wing.
The terrorist infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7th Massacre. Throughout the war, he was involved in the holding of hostages Amit Soussana, Keith and Aviva Siegel, and Dafna Elyakim in the Gaza Strip.
In an additional strike in the Gaza City area earlier this week (Tuesday), the IDF eliminated the terrorist Adham Sabhi Salim Ziara, another operative in Hamas’ military wing.
In recent weeks, the terrorists advanced attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians and operated to restore the terrorist organization’s capabilities, in systematic violation of the ceasefire. (Read more here)

The God Who Dwells With Us

The message of Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, reaches far beyond the seven-day festival. Sukkot celebrates the ingathering of the harvest and prophetically points toward the joyous redemption and gathering of God’s people during Messiah’s reign on earth. Zechariah 14:16 looks forward to a remarkable day when the nations remaining after the great conflict will come to Jerusalem to worship the King: “And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.” Sukkot points from remembrance toward fulfillment.
God commanded Israel in Leviticus 23:42-43 to dwell in booths for seven days so generation after generation would remember how He brought His people out of Egypt and sustained them in the wilderness. He invited each generation to step physically into that memory by leaving the familiar and dwelling temporarily in a sukkah. The Hebrew word translated “dwell” is teshvu, from the root y-sh-v, meaning to sit, remain, inhabit or dwell. The temporary structure became their home for the festival. God explained the purpose: “that your generations may know.” Israel’s wilderness experience was more than distant history. Trump's ban on CNN, MS NOW, Politico halted by judge

WASHINGTON — A federal judge halted President Donald Trump's ban blocking three major media outlets from reporting at the White House, saying the move was probably unconstitutional, and ordered access to be restored.
In an early-morning ruling, U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump appointee, issued a temporary restraining order to reinstate press passes for reporters from CNN, MS NOW and Politico, after Trump announced on Sept. 18 that he was banning them from the White House.
In his court order, Kelly blocked officials from enforcing the ban for 14 days and ordered the White House to return and restore White House press passes that were revoked from reporters at the outlets.
"The merits of this claim are assessed in two steps: 'the first asks whether there exists a liberty or property interest which has been interfered with by the State; the second examines whether the procedures attendant upon that deprivation were constitutionally sufficient,'" Kelly wrote in the order. "Plaintiffs have shown they are likely to succeed at both steps."
The judge rejected the government's assertion that the ban was motivated by national security concerns.
"Nothing in the record that predates this suit suggests that the revocation of Plaintiffs’ hard passes was motivated by national security concerns," Kelly wrote in the order.
Kelly also said he is bound "full stop" by the precedent of the 1977 Sherrill v. Knight case, when a federal appeals court ruled that the White House cannot arbitrarily deny press passes to reporters based on the content of their coverage if the White House has voluntarily opened its doors to media and established facilities for the press.
Trump, who predicted the court would rule against his ban, has already said the Justice Department will appeal the decision. (USA Today) Read more here.

As Judge Kelly rejects President Trump's assertion that the media ban was due to national security concerns, we pray for our president and our government and ask for Your intervention when wicked media outlets report untruths causing division in America. We pray for the Trump appointee, U. S. District Judge Timothy Kelly because he was bound by law to rule that the White House cannot arbitrarily deny press passes to reporters based on their coverage because the White House has voluntarily opened its doors to the press.
Lord, we pray that You would intercede and shut the mouths of any media correspondents who only report half truths and lie in order to defame and interfere with those who are trying to make America safe and productive again. Grant the Justice Department wisdom as they appeal this decision. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Trump Answers News Media Boycott by Launching His Own Alternative, 'Trump TV'

Well, that’s certainly one way to get around a would-be media boycott.
On Monday, the White House officially launched what it called “Trump TV” — a response to the major networks and a few newspapers deciding to cut off coverage of the president because he banned three outlets from the White House.
Those three outlets — CNN, MS NOW, and Politico — are suing, claiming the move violated their First Amendment rights.
The Associated Press reported that the Monday filing said the Constitution “does not allow a president or any other government official to deprive the press of their First Amendment rights and liberty and property interests with no notice or process based solely on his dislike of the content of their reporting.”
The ban on the three outlets came “as a result of their constant ‘reporting’ FAKE NEWS!” Trump said on Truth Social.
“Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America.”
However, this caused other outlets — including Fox News, The Washington Post, and The New York Times, among others — to suspend their coverage in sympathy with the banned networks, as well, The Hill reported.
Thus, Trump TV. As of right now, the live channel is playing a stream of the president’s greatest hits, starting at 7 p.m. Monday. It should bring meetings, interviews, and even remarks straight to the American public, no filter, in the coming weeks.

Father, we pray for Your blessings over President Trump as he raises up new alternatives that bring truth to the American people.

Speaker Johnson: Midterms a Contrast between Opposing Worldviews

For U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), the stakes for the 2026 midterm elections couldn’t be higher. Not only are two political parties facing off on November 3, but two completely different worldviews.
Speaking by live remote to an audience gathered at Family Research Council’s Pray Vote Stand Summit held in Leesburg, Virginia with just over a month until Election Day, Johnson emphasized America’s polarization with the audience. “We’re at a crossroads,” Johnson said. “It’s not just a contest right now between Republicans and Democrats, as everybody in that auditorium knows, this is a contrast between two completely different worldviews for America, who we are, and what we’re going to be. And that’s what’s on the ballot.”
Socialism on the Radar
The speaker later went on to explain what he meant by the sharp contrast he was drawing. He told FRC President Tony Perkins, “By our count … about 38 or 40 of these openly avowed — radical leftist Marxist ideologues have won their primaries in the Democratic Party, and that’s for Congress and state offices.”
“This is a serious threat,” Johnson warned. “It’s not just isolated to New York City or San Francisco. This is across the country, and we have to be wary of that. And we have to defeat that ideology because it is anti-American. And frankly, it is anti-God.”
While he obviously views the emerging socialist wing of the Democratic Party as a threat, in Johnson’s mind socialists aren’t what he worries about the most. He warned, “The most dangerous candidate for Congress right now isn’t the person waving [the Marxist] flag. It’s the Democrat running as a so-called moderate. When we know very well that the moderate Democrat wing is not going to exist anymore. They’ll have no power because the energy, the excitement of the grassroots is on the side of the insurgent Left, and they will move that party off the cliff. We are so grateful that You have placed Mike Johnson in position as the Speaker of the House in Congress. This humble man of God walks in humility and in integrity, and demonstrates Your wisdom in all he says and does.
We ask that, as the American people prepare to go to the polls in November, they would take heed to the wisdom that Speaker Johnson has released in this statement. Workers renovating major city street stumble on ancient discovery buried 20 feet below

Archaeologists found intricately decorated fragments and centuries-old jugs
|

Workers renovating a bustling city boulevard stumbled across a piece of the ancient past — a cache of pottery dating back roughly 1,000 years.
The discovery was made amid ongoing excavations in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia in the Caucasus region, south of Russia.
The artifacts were found roughly 20 feet beneath Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi's main thoroughfare.
Pictures show archaeologists examining the intricately decorated pottery fragments, as well as centuries-old jugs and various shards.
The roadwork is part of a larger project to upgrade Rustaveli Avenue with new pedestrian crossings, improved signage and other improvements, according to Reuters.
David Lordkipanidze, director of the Georgian National Museum, told Reuters the discovery was not entirely unexpected given Tbilisi's history.
"Tbilisi is very rich with archaeological material ... so it's very logical to find workshops of different periods," he said. (Fox News) Read More
