Summer in the Swamp: Thune’s Plan to ‘Grind Down’ Democrats

The only thing that’s harder to beat than the heat in D.C. is the clock. While senators try to plow through nominees on their side of the Capitol — against a brick wall of bullheaded Democrats — the question on everyone’s minds is how much longer Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) is willing to keep his chamber in session. Both sides have begrudgingly gone along with Donald Trump’s request to slog through the hires that require Senate approval, but time is ticking on the five-week stretch of campaigning most have hoped to do at home.

Conservatives, though, seem surprisingly willing to forgo or postpone their trips to the beach, insisting that if this is the game Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) wants to play, they’re game. “The Senate can’t have it both ways,” Utah’s Mike Lee (R) argued on X. “[We have] no business taking a summer vacation without doing our job.” If Democrats are going to throw “every procedural roadblock in the way of President Trump’s nominees,” he insists, then they should have to suffer for it. “Let’s cancel recess and keep working.”

Some of the greybeards, like Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), are more than willing to suffer through the 100-degree days and beat Schumer at his own game. “Trump needs his administration in place,” he stressed. Make everyone go the distance. For his part, the new majority leader is open to keeping the lights on deeper into August. “I think it’s fair to say that we’re going to keep the pressure on the Democrats to stay here until they either cooperate — or we’re just going to grind it out and do it the old-fashioned way.”

In the meantime, as eager as both parties are to get home, the grind of the Senate goes on. And as far as some conservatives are concerned, that’s just the price of being in power. “We have to fix our government and give this president the government that he deserves,” Senator Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) insisted to Perkins Thursday. “He, after all, did win the election.” (The Washington Stand) Read more here.
- Lord God Almighty, we come before You with this prayer request. We ask for divine wisdom to be given to Senator John Thune, the Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate, as he
works to bring all remaining matters before the chamber in a
timely fashion. The votes that the Senate has yet to cover are
all critical matters, both for President Trump and our nation, to be resolved. We ask that You would make a way where there
seems to be no way for this complex matter to be resolved. In
Your name, Holy One, we offer this prayer, amen and amen!

- "Behold, I am going to do something new,
Now it will spring up;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert."

Hillary Clinton Greenlit Russia Hoax To Hide Email Scandal, Declassified Docs Reveal

Newly declassified intelligence documents released Thursday revealed Hillary Clinton personally approved a campaign plan to “smear” then-candidate Donald Trump with false Russian collusion claims to distract from her email scandal during the 2016 presidential race.

Special counsel John Durham uncovered the information during his multi-year investigation into intelligence activities during the 2016 election.

The intelligence, released Monday by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), came from two memos obtained by the Obama administration containing “confidential conversations” between members of the DNC and George Soros’s Open Society Foundations before the 2016 election.

According to the declassified files, Clinton personally approved a plan proposed by her foreign policy advisor, Julianne Smith, to “smear Donald Trump by magnifying the scandal tied to the intrusion by the Russian special services in the pre-election process to benefit the Republican candidate.” Smith was later appointed to serve as Ambassador to NATO under President Joe Biden.

One stunning email written by Open Society Foundations Senior Vice President Leonard Bernardo, dated July 27, 2016, stated: “HRC [Hillary Clinton] approved Julia’s [sic] idea about Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections. That should distract people from her own missing email, especially if the affair goes to the Olympic level.”

“The point is making the Russian play a U.S. domestic issue,” Bernado continued, adding, “In absence of direct evidence, Crowdstrike and ThreatConnect will supply the media, and GRU [Russia’s foreign intelligence arm] will hopefully carry on to give more facts.” (Daily Wire) Read more here.

- Holy Lord, this kind of evil subterfuge would have destroyed our nation had it not been uncovered. Still, the damage to our country has been immense. We ask for You to fix all that has been torn down and  bring accountability to those who caused it. We call upon Your Name for all of Your people and the nation in which we reside.

Trump slashes 25% of IRS workforce with buyouts, firings of nearly 26,000 agency staff
The administration has slashed the IRS workforce by nearly 26,000 people through buyouts and firings, marking a 25% reduction in staffing as President Trump works to reverse President Biden’s buildup at the tax agency.
The cuts sliced through some of the most prominent IRS divisions, taking out 27% of the tax examiners and 26% of the revenue agents, the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration said.
Information technology is shedding 23% of its workforce, and the management and analysis division will lose 28% of its staff.
“These separations will have nationwide implications,” the inspector general said.
The data, which was current as of May, showed that most of the departing staffers have accepted one of the administration’s various buyout offers.
That included about 4,600 approved under the initial January buyout offer and 17,000 approved for voluntary early retirement. Thousands more were part of smaller separation programs, and about 300 were from an official “reduction in force.”
Alex Muresianu, senior policy analyst at the Tax Foundation, said staffing cuts aren’t always a problem. However, he said they can be a problem when coupled with new roles for the IRS, such as during the pandemic emergency, and could come into play as the agency implements changes from Mr. Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act. (Washington Times) Read more.
- Lord, we thank You for this reduction of the IRS, which routinely targets ordinary Americans. As more reductions may come in the future, we pray that You will guard Your people from attacks and audits that are designed to harm people of middle income. We   pray that those employees who are left would be people of integrity who care about the citizens and their incomes for their families.

- “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”  (Philippians 2:4)

Trump to Deploy Nuclear Subs to 'Appropriate Regions' After Threat from Former Russian President

President Donald Trump announced Friday that he has ordered two nuclear submarines to be repositioned following a threat from a top Russian official.

The former president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, recently took to X with a threatening message aimed directly at Trump. “Trump’s playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 days or 10… He should remember 2 things,” Medvedev wrote.

“1. Russia isn’t Israel or even Iran.”

“2. Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war. Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country.”

“Don’t go down the Sleepy Joe road!”

Trump responded Friday by announcing immediate military action from his Truth Social account.

Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation,” Trump began, ““I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that.”
(The Western Journal) Read more here.
- Father God, we thank You for the wisdom, the boldness and the courage that You have bestowed upon President Trump in this hour of need. We pray that only Your will be done in this matter; and that President Putin and the Russian people would "get this message," and stand down. Again, thank You, Holy One, for this answer to prayer. In Your name, amen and amen.

- "Let God arise, and His enemies be scattered!" (Psalm 68:1)
