Trump, first lady mourn young lives lost in Texas floods, praise first responders during Kerrville roundtable

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump arrived in Kerrville, Texas, Friday, following massive floods in the region that have taken the lives of more than 120 people.

The Trumps met with local officials and first responders who are navigating the aftermath of flash floods that devastated the Central Texas community, after the Guadalupe River surged more than 22 feet in just a matter of hours.

Speaking at a roundtable with state, local and federal officials in Kerrville, Trump said: "I've never seen anything like this. This is a bad one." He said he had just visited with the "incredible families" who have been "devastated."

Trump thanked the first responders, adding that he and the first lady were there to "express the love and support and anguish of our entire nation. So all across the country, Americans' hearts are shattered," he said. "We're filled with grief and devastation. It's the loss of life, and unfortunately, they're still looking."

"My administration’s doing everything in its power to help Texas," he added.

He thanked Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for his leadership, who in turn thanked the president for the administration’s quick response to the state’s disaster declaration, adding, "We’re going to rebuild this community."

Dr. Phil McGraw, who was also at the roundtable, spoke about grief and said, "MrPresident, there is a depth of root and caring here like you just can't believe until you see it."

Trump referred to Camp Mystic, where more than two dozen girls, who the president referred to as "young angels," were killed in the flood, as a "legendary camp that people would want to go to from all over the country."

"They were there because they loved God," he said. "And as we grieve this unthinkable tragedy, we take comfort in the knowledge that God is welcoming those little beautiful girls into his comforting arms in heaven."

The first lady showed a bracelet she was wearing that she said she received in honor of "all of the little girls that lost their lives" at the camp. "So, we are here to honor them and also to give the support, help." (Fox News) Read more here.

- Father God, we are so grateful that You have seen fit to bring Donald Trump to the White House, to serve our nation as our President. His remarks bear witness to bring comfort where comfort is needed, and to point us to the way of faith. We ask that all decisions that will now be made at the federal, state, and local levels would be expedited quickly, so that these Texans can survive this disaster and begin to rebuild their communities. In Your Name, Abba, we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

- "Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted."       (Matthew 5:4)

Biden’s Physician Pleads the Fifth in Health Decline Coverup Query

Republican officials have launched a multi-pronged investigation into former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, seeking to discover whether White House officials covered it up and, if so, who was really running the country. However, a key witness has refused to answer questions in a congressional deposition. Kevin O’Connor, who served as Biden’s physician both when Biden was vice president and when he was president, appeared before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday and refused to answer whether or not he was instructed to lie about the then-president’s health.

“On the advice of counsel, I must respectfully decline to answer based upon the physician-patient privilege and in reliance on my right under the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution. I am not a lawyer, and I must follow my lawyer’s advice in this matter,” O’Connor said in response to each question. He began by stating his name, when asked to, and answered, “Yes,” when asked if he swore to tell the truth while being sworn in. Afterward, he asserted doctor-patient privilege and cited the Fifth Amendment in response to every question.

Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said in a social media post following the deposition, “It’s now clear there was a conspiracy to cover up President Biden’s cognitive decline after Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician and family business associate, refused to answer any questions and chose to hide behind the fifth amendment.” He continued, “The American people demand transparency, but Dr. O’Connor would rather conceal the truth. Dr. O’Connor took the fifth when asked if he was told to lie about President Biden’s health and whether he was fit to be President of the United States.” The congressman pledged that the Oversight Committee “will continue to interview more Biden White House aides to get the answers Americans deserve.” (Washington Stand) Read more here.

- Father God, we ask You to forgive Dr. O'Connor for lying before this
congressional committee, whose only role is to learn the truth of former
President Biden's mental health condition while he was still in office. We ask that, in time, the truth will be revealed about this situation, even as we praise You for holding our nation together when the head of state was apparently not able to do so.

" . . . he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality." (Colossians 3:25)

Butler One Year On: Alleged Would-Be Trump Assassin's Motive Still a Mystery

Investigators and journalists appear to remain at a loss as to what motivated 20-year-old Thomas Crooks to allegedly try to kill Donald Trump as the first anniversary of the assassination attempt on then-former president and candidate Donald Trump approaches on July 13.

That mystery prevailed even in an extensive CBS’s report this week, which the network described as the “most comprehensive portrait” of Crooks to date — based on interviews “with more than two dozen friends, professors, law enforcement officials and others, as well as open records requests to half a dozen agencies and a review of thousands of documents.”

Despite all the legwork, CBS concluded:

He left no manifesto, no explanation for why he tried to kill the former and future president. In the year since the shooting, investigators and those who knew him have been trying to piece together what led him to climb that roof in Butler, with frustratingly few answers.

It is not the only news outlet left wondering.

Fox News  and even the newspaper closest to the alleged shooter, the Butler Eagle, came to the same conclusion — that Crooks was leading a secretive double life that provided no clues as to motive up until the time of the assassination attempt.

The fact that Crooks kept to himself wouldn’t even have raised an alarm, the CBS report suggests, because he’d consistently done so his entire life. (Breitbart) Read more here.

- Father God, only You know what caused this crazed young man to carry out this despicable deed. He failed and Trump lived to go on to win the election in November and to serve our nation as the resident of the United States. We cannot forgive Thomas Crooks for his action, but You can, so we do so now, in Your Name, amen and amen.

- "Father, forgive him, for he knows not what he does." (Luke 23:34)

Muslim Imams from Europe Visit Yad Vashem: A Powerful Stand for Peace and Holocaust Remembrance

A historic moment of courage and reconciliation. A delegation of Muslim imams and community leaders from Europe visited Israel and Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial to honor the 6 million Jewish victims and send a clear message: Islam is not terrorism, and peace is possible.

Led by Imam Hassan Chalgoumi and organized by ELNET, the group lit the eternal flame, recited Islamic prayers, and stood side by side with Jewish leaders. They also visited Israeli officials, survivors of the October 7 Hamas attacks, and victims’ families.

Their message is bold: a call for brotherhood, justice, and an end to hate — even at great personal cost. (All Israel News) Read more here.

- Father God, Yahweh, this article shares news that is nothing short of a miracle. As these imams from Europe have gazed upon the truth of the Holocaust, we pray that their own hearts would join ours in saying: NEVER AGAIN. We ask for Your fruit to come forth in their lives, that they may indeed take action to protect the Jewish populations that now reside all over Europe. We ask all of this in Your mighty name, Holy One, amen and amen!

- "Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You." (Jeremiah 32:17)

Bill would export Seattle's failed homelessness policies to rest of US (H.R. 4182) • The Housing Not Handcuffs Act, introduced to mark the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court's Grants Pass decision (23-175), would prohibit any federal agency from criminalizing a homeless person engaging in "life-sustaining activities" on "public land" which include "moving, resting, sitting, standing, lying down, sleeping, protecting oneself and personal property from the elements, eating, and drinking." • Editor's note: Interestingly, Members both sides agree on the usefulness of public lands for housing.
