‘We Want Our Capital Back’:
Trump Gives Preview Of Monday Press Conference On Public Safety In D.C.
|
|
President Donald Trump gave a preview on Sunday of a planned Monday press conference that he said was aimed at addressing several of the major public safety issues currently plaguing Washington, D.C. Trump first announced the press conference via his Truth Social platform on Saturday, saying, “On Monday a Press Conference will be held at the White House which will, essentially, stop violent crime in Washington, D.C. It has become one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the World. It will soon be one of the safest!!!”
He followed that announcement on Sunday morning with a post laying out some of the details and sharing photos of the homeless encampments that he intended to address in his remarks. “We’re having a News Conference tomorrow in the White House. I’m going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before,” Trump said, first addressing the issues relating to the homeless population — and saying that they would have to move out of the city. “The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital.” (Daily Wire) Read More Here

May every decision come from seeking Your holy wisdom and gaining discerning sensitivity for the issues of the homeless population in Washington, DC. May those in authority have clear insight for how to create safe streets in our nation's capital. We praise You for this administration's unrelenting tenacity to tackle the many challenges in Washington, DC and also throughout our nation, bringing safety and order into every state and community across our nation! In Jesus' powerful name, we pray! Amen and Amen.

Trump vows to make DC 'safer' and 'beautiful' as capital battles crime and homelessness
|
|
President Donald Trump vowed on Sunday to make Washington, D.C., "safer and more beautiful" as his administration doubles down on efforts to address crime and a growing homeless population in the nation’s capital.
"I will take care of our cherished Capital, and we will make it, truly, GREAT AGAIN! Before the tents, squalor, filth, and crime, it was the most beautiful Capital in the world. It will soon be that again," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
Trump also announced that a plan to address homelessness, public safety, and urban cleanliness will be detailed during a press conference at the White House scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday.
"The Mayor of D.C., Muriel Bowser, is a good person who has tried, but she has been given many chances, and the Crime Numbers get worse, and the City only gets dirtier and less attractive. The American Public is not going to put up with it any longer," Trump added.
Trump wrote in a separate Truth Social post that he wants the homeless to "immediately" move "far from" the nation's capital. "The criminals, you don’t have to move out. We're going to put you in jail where you belong," he wrote in the same post, adding that the new crackdowns on both issues are "going to happen very fast."
"There will be no "MR. NICE GUY." We want our Capital BACK," Trump wrote, adding that more details on these efforts will be laid out during a press conference on Monday. (Fox News) Read more here.

Texas House Blocks Pay for AWOL Dems, Abbott Warns GOP Could Go Even Bigger
|
|
As Texas State House Democrats continue to be anywhere but Austin, Republicans are turning up the heat.
Although the Democrats are a minority in the Texas Legislature, their absence prevents the body from having a quorum, which means no business gets done in a special session called to pass redistricting legislation that would put Democrats in a deeper hole in Congress.
Even if Democrats run out the clock for which the session was called, Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has the power to call more special sessions.
On Friday, Texas Republican House Speaker Dustin Burrows said that as long as Democrats remain absent, they will have to actually show up to collect their paychecks.
Direct deposit will be paused until a quorum in the House exists, according to KFOX-TV.
Although it remains unclear who has the power to do what, the FBI has said it will work with Texas officials to locate Democrats who fled the state.
One legislator said a war on perks of the job may be in the near future.
“This hasn’t dropped yet, but I have heard that they could lose their seniority, parking spots, chairmanships. I think that’s next on the books,” Republican State Rep. Shelley Luther said, according to WFAA-TV.
Meanwhile, Abbott said the redistricting plan that could give the GOP five more House seats may undergo some revisions Democrats will find even more distasteful than the current plan upon which they do not want to vote. (Western Journal) Read more here.

|
- Lord God we pray for members of the Texas legislature and the job that lies before them. We ask that You give them the discerning wisdom that only You can provide, setting them on the right path and giving them clarity, courage, and commitment to justice. We pray for unity, allowing them to work alongside one another for the best interest of our Texans in Jesus' name. Amen!
- “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)

Iran executes nuclear scientist accused of carrying out espionage operations for Israel's Mossad
|
|
The Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday morning executed a nuclear scientist accused of cooperating with the Mossad, Israel's foreign intelligence agency, Iranian media reported.
According to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Rouzbeh Vadi, a nuclear scientist, was arrested and tried on charges of espionage and intelligence cooperation “in favor of the Zionist regime,” and after trial and issuance of the verdict by the Supreme Court, was hanged on Wednesday morning, Aug. 6.
The IRNA said that case documents and Vadi's confessions indicate he was fully aware that he was cooperating with the Mossad.
The news agency stated that Vadi was employed “in one of the important and sensitive organizations in the country,” and, given his level of access to information, was considered an attractive target for Mossad recruitment.
The report claimed that Vadi was recruited by Mossad through social media after participating in various assessments by Mossad handlers. IRNA also stated that Vadi’s original recruiter passed him along to another agent, who was responsible for instructing him on how to gather and share information. This included using a separate phone and laptop for contact with the Mossad and training him in secure communication methods.
The report stated that, at Vadi’s request, he was paid a fixed monthly amount in cryptocurrency – deposited into a digital wallet – instead of receiving payments based on individual assignments.
After receiving technical training in the installation and use of secure communication systems, Vadi was instructed by his Mossad handler on how to extract and transmit sensitive classified information.
After Vadi transmitted some information, the Mossad allegedly instructed him to travel to Vienna, Austria, where he met with its agents on five occasions, according to the IRNA report. The location was chosen because Vadi had previously traveled to Vienna to participate in training courses related to his field of work. These trips were also arranged under the pretext of attending a specialized training course.
The report stated that Vadi was told to send weekly briefs to the Mossad in exchange for regular payments. (AllIsraelNews) Read more here.

Putin ally warns 'titanic efforts' are underway to sink Trump summit over Ukraine war
|
|
A senior member of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle warned that multiple countries are mounting "titanic efforts" to undermine the upcoming summit between the Russian leader and U.S. President Donald Trump.
The two leaders are scheduled to meet in Alaska on Aug. 15, though Trump’s announcement, made via a Truth Social post on Friday, offered few additional details about the summit. It is also unclear if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will be invited to join the talks as the Kremlin's unprovoked war stretches into its fourth year.
"Undoubtedly, a number of countries interested in continuing the conflict will make titanic efforts to disrupt the planned meeting between President Putin and President Trump," wrote Russia's investment envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, in a Telegram post on Saturday, referencing the Kremlin's ongoing war in Ukraine.
While Dmitriev did not name specific countries, he warned that critics of the upcoming talks could seek to sabotage the summit through diplomatic maneuvers or media-driven provocations. Several NATO countries in Europe have been openly skeptical of any deal that rewards Russian aggression in the three-year-old war.
Dmitriev, who met with Trump administration officials in Washington in April, has been dubbed Putin's "shadow foreign minister" for his behind-the-scenes role in shaping Russia’s global diplomacy.
As head of the Kremlin’s sovereign wealth fund and a recently appointed special envoy, he has often acted as an informal bridge between Moscow and Washington.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin said in a statement on Saturday that Trump and Putin are expected to "focus on discussing options for achieving a long-term peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian crisis."
"This will evidently be a challenging process, but we will engage in it actively and energetically," the statement added.
Trump has previously said that Putin and Zelenskyy were close to a ceasefire deal but suggested that Kyiv would have to concede significant territory, an outcome that Ukrainians and many European allies oppose. (Fox News) Read more here.

- We pray over these talks that no harm or evil will prevail against them in Jesus' name. We cancel every plan to manipulate and control Trump, our media, and these talks in Jesus' name. We declare your freedom over this nation allowing them more opportunities to live their God given destinies instead of being controlled and manipulated by big governments.
- “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)

1. Israeli defense minister threatens Khamenei with elimination - Israel Hayom
Iran published on Monday an assassination list targeting senior Israeli political and security officials. Defense Minister Israel Katz responded on X with a direct threat to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, warning the dictator to watch the skies when leaving his bunker.
"Iran publishes its list of senior political and security officials in Israel designated for elimination. I suggest to the Iranian dictator Khamenei that when he leaves his bunker, he should occasionally look up at the sky and listen carefully to any buzzing. [Operation] 'Red Wedding' participants are waiting for him there," Katz wrote on his X account.
The defense minister's social media post represented the latest escalation in threats exchanged between Israeli leadership and the Iranian regime. Katz has repeatedly warned Khamenei of potential targeted operations against Iranian leadership.
During a July 27 visit to Ramon Air Force Base, Katz delivered a stark warning to the Iranian supreme leader about continued threats against Israel. "I want to convey a clear message from here to the dictator Khamenei that if you continue to threaten Israel, our long arm will reach Tehran again and with even greater force – and this time to you personally," the defense minister stated during the base visit. 4. Families of hostages call for general strike next week over government’s war plan - Times of Israel
Groups representing families of the hostages, slain soldiers, and victims of Hamas’s October 7, 2023, massacre called Sunday for a general strike to be held August 17 to protest the continuation of the war and the government’s plan for a military takeover of Gaza City, which they fear could cost the hostages their lives and further IDF casualties.
The planned strike, which received backing from leading figures in the opposition, is being organized by the October Council, which represents families affected by Hamas’s attack.
However, it was not immediately clear if the main organization representing families, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, would back the strike, while the country’s main labor federation, the Histadrut, said that it would sit it out. (Read more)

“According to Qatari Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, the announcement will be based on a constitutional declaration defining the state’s borders and foundations, and setting a date for Palestinian National Council elections. A senior Palestinian source stated that no other elections have been held, including for the Legislative Council,” he added.
“The move,” continued Oseran, “Without national consensus, is merely a symbolic political step, nearly 32 years after the signing of the Oslo Accords.”

1. Trump's Fed pick wanted to upend its protection from politics - Reuters
Having railed against the "revolving door" between the executive branch and the U.S. Federal Reserve, Council of Economic Advisers Chair Stephen Miran may now be walking through it after President Donald Trump nominated him to the Board of Governors of an institution Miran would like to radically overhaul.
In a report last year co-authored by Miran for the Manhattan Institute, the economist proposed harsh medicine for a series of ills he felt had infected the central bank, from "groupthink" on monetary policy, to regulatory overreach, to poor accountability and a loss of focus on its core mission of fighting inflation.
To Miran, the current set-up at the Fed has merely excused what he regards as poor performance. (Read more)

The White House is pressing the pause button on public tours of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. as construction is set to begin within weeks for President Trump’s new $200 million ballroom.
New tour bookings were “paused proactively while a collaborative group of White House, U.S. Secret Service, National Park Service, and Executive Residence staff work to determine the best way to ensure public access to the White House as this project begins and for the duration of construction,” said Nicholas Clemens, communications director for first lady Melania Trump, in a Friday statement to The Hill.

3. Appeals court scraps Boasberg’s contempt order against Trump officials - The Hill
A federal appeals court panel voted 2-1 Friday to scrap a judge’s probable cause finding to hold Trump administration officials in criminal contempt for disobeying his order to turn around deportation flights ultimately destined for El Salvador.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled the administration was entitled to an intervention because U.S. District Judge James Boasberg’s efforts to punish administration officials raised immediate concerns.
“The order forces a coequal branch to choose between capitulating to an unlawful judicial order and subjecting its officials to a dubious prosecution,” wrote U.S. Circuit Judge Neomi Rao, who was in the majority.
Rao was joined by U.S. Circuit Judge Gregory Katsas, both Trump appointees.
U.S. Circuit Judge Cornelia Pillard, an appointee of former President Obama, dissented. She complimented Boasberg for his “skill and wisdom” handling the case, which has sparked impeachment threats from Trump and a barrage of public criticism from his supporters. (Read more)

6. Fire prompts thousands of evacuations in California - BBC
A fast-growing wildfire northwest of Los Angeles has prompted mandatory evacuations for thousands of residents, as extreme heat and dry conditions fuel its rapid spread. The blaze, named the Canyon Fire, ignited on Thursday afternoon along the border of Ventura and Los Angeles counties. By Friday morning, it had expanded from 30 acres to nearly 5,000 acres.
More than 2,700 residents have been asked to evacuate, while a further 14,000 people have been given evacuation warnings, the Ventura County Fire Department said in a statement. The fire has been partially contained, with 25% of its perimeter under control as of Friday, officials said.
The city of Santa Clarita, one of the closest to the blaze, is on high alert. City officials have urged residents to stay away from fire-affected areas.
"The #CanyonFire is spreading fast under extreme heat & dry conditions near Ventura–LA County line," LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger wrote on X. "If you're in Santa Clarita, Hasley Canyon, or Val Verde, take evacuation orders seriously - when first responders say GO, leave immediately. Keep aware--please don't risk lives." (Read more)

Love Starts in the Heart
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, August 11, 2025
The Deuteronomy 3:23-7:11 reading is called Va’etchanan (I Pleaded). It reminds us that after all he had done, Moses was still denied entry into the Promised Land. Yet, in grace, God allowed him to see it from Mount Pisgah. The Hebrew root chanan (grace) reveals Moses’ deep heart in his beseeching, pleading, longing for God’s favor. But the greater story is not about the breathtaking view of the promised land, but about love. Not just God’s love for us, but how that love transforms us. Moses was preparing the people to enter the land, but more than that, he was preparing their hearts to receive the Word of God. If we truly love God, it will show in how we love others. That’s the covenant in action.
Deuteronomy is called Devarim, meaning “Words.” It’s where the man who once said he was “not a man of words” becomes the mouthpiece of God. Moses reviews the commandments, pleads for obedience, and reminds Israel that their relationship with God must be rooted in love. The Shema (Deut. 6:4-5) is the heart of it: “Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength.” Jesus echoed this in Mark 12 and added: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” He wasn’t replacing the law—He was revealing the heart behind it. The law was never meant to be cold rules. It was a mirror of God’s heart, calling us into relationship. And that relationship always starts with love. Read More

Severe storms knock out power and close roads in Midwest as flooding cancels last day of Wisconsin State Fair
|
|
|
WAUWATOSA, Wisc. — Severe storms struck the Midwest this weekend, dumping around a foot of rain on Milwaukee, causing flooding that canceled the last day of the Wisconsin State Fair, and damaging a Nebraska prison to the extent that inmates had to be moved, officials said.
At least one death occurred in the storms, which struck several states. One person died Saturday and another suffered serious injuries when a tree fell on the car they were in at Two Rivers State Park in Nebraska, officials said. Some of the highest rainfall totals were in the Milwaukee area, where west of the city recorded 8 to 11 inches of rain.
Wisconsin State Fair Park, where the state's fair is held, was forced to close early on Saturday due to flooding. The state fair announced on Sunday that it will not reopen for the day's events. "We understand the disappointment you may feel as our team works all year for these 11 days," the statement, posted to Facebook, read. "However, the safety of our Fairgoers, team, partners, and vendors will always be our top priority."
Millions under flood alerts
The storms had around 14 million people from Kansas to Wisconsin are under flood alerts this weekend. The storms in the Midwest were due to "an environment that features a battleground between cool and dry air to the north and west and plenty of moisture and instability to the south and east," the National Weather Service said.
A flood watch for Milwaukee was set to last until 7 a.m. Monday, and the weather service said that flash flooding from excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
In the Plains, a "slow-moving, nearly stationary frontal boundary" will create a risk of thunderstorms and heavy downpours, the weather service said Sunday. The states most at risk were Colorado, Kansas, northeastern New Mexico, western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle, the agency said. (NBC News) Read more.

- Father God, this past year, the weather has been so unusual, with many storms taking lives and property "at will." While we all continue to pray, asking Your comfort to rest upon those who have been afflicted by these storms, we also "look up," knowing that our redemption draweth nigh. Let us now approach Your Throne of Grace, in repentance, knowing that every day brings us closer to the time of Your soon return. Amen.
- " Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”" (Luke 21:28)

Va. High School Faces Investigation over Alleged Secret Abortion Arrangements for Minors
|
|
|
In what has become a chilling unearthing, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in Virginia has launched an investigation into Centreville High School for accusations of arranging and funding students’ abortions back in 2021. The news, first revealed by the W.C. Dispatch Substack, has sparked outrage among parents, pro-life advocates, and concerned citizens, raising serious questions about parental rights and school overreach.
According to reporting from local news outlet WJLA, one of the two girls involved was only 17 years old. The report went into further detail:
“One girl underwent the procedure at 17; the other, five months pregnant and pleading to keep her baby, bolted from the clinic after social worker Carolina Díaz allegedly told her she ‘had no choice.’ Principal Chad Lehman, the girls insist, knew — and taxpayers footed the bill. … A handwritten statement from the first student, translated for clarity, lays out how Díaz scheduled the appointment, paid the clinic’s fees, and swore her to secrecy.
“That alone would be enough to raise the hair on the back of a patriotic taxpayer’s neck, but there is more. A second Centreville minor, five months pregnant and wavering, was allegedly told by the same social worker that she ‘had no other choice.’ The girl, terrified, ultimately bolted from the clinic rather than go through with the procedure. She later confided in her teacher, Mrs. Zenaida Perez, who allowed her name to be used on the record and provided The W.C. Dispatch a recording of the family confirming that no one at the school had ever informed them of the intent to terminate their daughter’s pregnancy. I have reviewed the audio in full and verified its content, it’s heartbreaking.”
FCPS claims it had no prior knowledge of these actions but has launched an immediate investigation. Superintendent Michelle Reid addressed the allegations in a letter, stating, “I want to stress that at no time, would the situation as described in these allegations be acceptable in Fairfax County Public Schools.” (The Washington Stand) Read more here.

- Abba, this is heartbreaking and infuriating at the same time, we know You feel the same. The enemy has so invaded and deceived leadership in our educational systems that parents are often ignored and treated with total disrespect and disregard. We ask Holy Spirit to move through every school district in our nation, shine Your light on each individual who has made personal decisions concerning students without parental involvement. We ask for truth to come forward, that each of these individuals can be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Lord God, we ask You to protect Your little ones who try to be adults when they are not, put people in their pathways to bring Your truth and Your love into these circumstances, give them dreams of what consequences will look like, and put fear into their hearts through those dreams. Let Your wisdom flow through their thoughts, show them Your path, give them courage beyond their own abilities. We ask this in the name El Rohi, The Lord Our Shepherd.

Harvard physicist says massive interstellar object could be alien probe on 'reconnaissance mission'
|
|
Dr. Avi Loeb notes unusual glow pattern and planetary alignment of 3I/ATLAS
Astronomers recently discovered a rare interstellar object passing through our solar system, and a Harvard physicist is sounding the alarm that its strange characteristics might indicate it’s more than just a typical comet.
"Maybe the trajectory was designed," Dr. Avi Loeb, science professor at Harvard University, told Fox News Digital. "If it had an objective to sort of to be on a reconnaissance mission, to either send mini probes to those planets or monitor them… It seems quite anomalous."
The object — dubbed 3I/ATLAS — was first detected in early July by an Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System, or ATLAS, telescope located in Chile. The discovery marked only the third time an interstellar object has been observed entering our solar system, according to NASA.
Although NASA has classified the object as a comet, Loeb noted that an image of the cosmic visitor indicated an unexpected glow appearing in front of the object, rather than trailing behind it — something he described as "quite surprising." Read More
