‘Running toward Jesus’:
45,000 attend Amplify 2025 evangelism event;
over 1,100 commit to follow Jesus
|
|
A two-day evangelism event that drew 45,000 people to Benton, Arkansas, earlier this month saw over 1,100 people commit their lives to following Jesus. Hosted by Pulse Evangelism, Amplify 2025 featured music, prayer and faith testimonies that drew people from 37 states Aug. 8-9. Pulse founder and evangelist Nick Hall told The Christian Post on Monday via email that over 20,000 people received evangelism training at the event. Additionally, 1,226 attendees “responded to the Gospel,” a term Hall used that included those who made a first-time commitment to Jesus Christ, rededicated their lives to Christ, or asked questions about Jesus. Of that number, 586 gave their lives to Jesus for the first time and 566 rededicated their lives to Jesus. An additional 74 asked questions about Jesus.
“Amplify was founded in 2012 with the goal of sharing the Gospel with as many people as possible,” said Hall. “The mission has remained unchanged, and every year that we have been a part of Amplify, we have been blown away by the response and what God does over those two days. We want every person to hear about Jesus and be equipped to share Him with others. Every year, we aim to unite people under the banner of Jesus through powerful music, Gospel-centered messages, and evangelism training.” The free admission event received substantial support from the community in Saline County, including 700 volunteers and first responders, Hall added. - Abba Father, we REJOICE at the news of the 45,000 that attended Amplify 2025 and heard the gospel message! Pour favor upon each volunteer that dedicated time to this event. We celebrate those that surrendered their life to Jesus and for each individual who re-committed their lives to faith in Christ. We ask for Your Holy Spirit power to fall upon the 20,000 that received evangelism training, so they may be empowered for Your holy plans and purposes in spreading the Good News. Bless each trainee in Yeshua's Name through divine encounters and Holy Spirit boldness, as in the time of Acts, to bring a harvest of salvations into the Kingdom of God! By the powerful Blood and Name of Jesus Christ, we pray- Amen and Amen.
- "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)

South Korea's proposal to win over Trump: 'Make America Shipbuilding Great Again'
|
|
One of the United States’ strongest allies in Asia, South Korea, has had a rough start with President Donald Trump — struggling in tariff talks as it spent months without a permanent leader.
But its new president, Lee Jae Myung, met with Trump on Monday touting a $150 billion offering whose name is sure to appeal to him: “Make America Shipbuilding Great Again.”
The package, which South Korean officials also refer to as MASGA, includes building U.S. shipyards, training shipbuilding personnel and maintaining U.S. Navy ships.
It’s a key part of the last-minute trade deal South Korea struck last month with Trump, who says he wants to revitalize U.S. shipbuilding for both economic and national security reasons. Trade and security were high on the agenda at his summit with Lee, which came amid growing tensions with China and North Korea.
A White House official said before the meeting that Trump “looks forward to hosting” Lee and that they would “discuss North Korea, defense posture, trade barriers, maritime security, American shipbuilding, energy dominance, and more.”
Trump himself injected a note of uncertainty into the day’s meeting Monday by posting on Truth Social: “WHAT IS GOING ON IN SOUTH KOREA? Seems like a Purge or Revolution. We can’t have that and do business there.”
It was not clear what Trump was referring to. Later, speaking to reporters at the White House during their meeting, Trump explained that he had “heard from Intel that there was a raid on churches. We’re going to talk about that later.” (NBC News) Read more here.

- Mighty King, we pray for Your hand to be upon both of these leaders as they do business with each other and their adversaries in North Korea and China. We pray for alignment and agreement regarding all the business that is being discussed and that the partnership is healthy and stable. We pray that the believers in South Korea are standing strong and continue spreading the gospel throughout the earth and that the believers in North Korea will be freed, in Jesus name.
- "I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved." (Psalm 16:7-8)

US fighters intercept Russian aircraft off Alaska for 3rd time in a week
|
|
LONDON -- Fighters from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on Sunday intercepted a Russian aircraft in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone for the third time in the past week, the command said in a statement.
One E-3 Sentry command and control aircraft, two F-16 fighters and two KC-135s Stratotankers were dispatched "to intercept and visually identify" a Russian Il-20 surveillance and reconnaissance operating in the Alaskan ADIZ, NORAD said.
The Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian airspace, NORAD said in its statement. "This Russian activity in the Alaskan ADIZ occurs regularly and is not seen as a threat," it added.
An ADIZ "begins where sovereign airspace ends and is a defined stretch of international airspace that requires the ready identification of all aircraft in the interest of national security," NORAD said.
Over the past week, American F-16 fighters have been dispatched twice -- once on Aug. 21 and once on Aug. 20 -- to intercept Russian Il-20 aircraft operating in the Alaska ADIZ.

- Holy One, this seems to be an unnecessary provocation by Russia and we pray for our defense teams to continue to stay alert and be quick to address the overreach by an adversary, in Jesus' name. We pray for confusion in all signals that the Russians are trying to listen in to and that any information they obtain will lead them astray in their plans. We bind the schemes of Russia and pray for their aggressive position to be brought to nothing, in Jesus' name. May Russia be turned to Jesus and walk in peace and goodness, for the glory of God.

Trump signs executive orders to end cashless bail in D.C. and ban flag burning
|
|
Washington — President Trump on Monday signed an executive order to push Washington, D.C., and other localities to end cashless bail for arrested suspects, threatening to withhold federal funding from cities that fail to end the program. It's the latest move in the president's federal crackdown on crime. The executive order on cashless bail charges Attorney General Pam Bondi with identifying jurisdictions in the U.S. that have cashless bail policies, and withholds or revokes federal grants to those jurisdictions. "We're ending it," Mr. Trump said of cashless bail before he signed the executive order in the Oval Office. "But we're starting by ending it in D.C., and that we have the right to do through federalization."
The president also signed an executive order Monday stating it's the government's objective to hold as many suspects captured in D.C. in federal custody as possible, and to charge them with federal crimes. The president also signed an executive order encouraging federal law enforcement agencies to hire additional personnel so they can surge law enforcement to D.C.
One of the president's executive orders also directs the defense secretary to ensure that each state's National Guard is resourced, trained, organized and available to help in "quelling civil disturbances," and directs the defense secretary to designate a number of each state's National Guard to be available for such purposes. Mr. Trump has said Chicago could be the next city where the federal government imposes a crime crackdown. "We're ready to go anywhere," the president said when asked about Chicago. "We can go anywhere on less than 24 hours' notice."
Cracking down on flag burning
The executive order the president signed pushes Bondi to investigate instances of flag desecration. The administration has been critical of pro-Palestinian protests and anti-immigration crackdown demonstrations that have featured flag burning.
"And then where there's evidence of criminal activity, where prosecution wouldn't fall afoul of the First Amendment, it instructs the Department of Justice to prosecute those who were engaged in these instances of flag burning," said Trump staff secretary Will Scharf. Mr. Trump said he wants the penalty for flag burning to be at least one year in prison.
"And what the penalty is going to be, if you burn a flag, you get one year in jail, no early exits, no nothing," the president said of what he hopes punishment for flag burning will be.
Creation of specialized National Guard unit and quick reaction force
The order also included a provision ordering the defense secretary to create a specialized unit within the D.C. National Guard "dedicated to ensuring public safety and order in the Nation's capital." The president also ordered the defense secretary to begin ensuring that every state's National Guard has the resources and is trained and available to help federal, state and local law enforcement address civil disturbances and ensure public safety and order "whenever the circumstances necessitate, as appropriate under law." - We bless You Abba because we are getting a taste of restoration in our nation. We have opposed and condemned so much of the evil that has taken place, such as flag burning and cashless bail and other things, but have felt helpless to do anything about it. We are thankful to see President Trump take clear action to restore our cultural heritage and establish righteousness back to our nation. We pray for his safety and we pray that these changes will stand strong in the face of the perpetual lawsuits by those who disrespect our nation, in Jesus' name.
- "For the Lord loves justice, And does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off. The righteous shall inherit the land, And dwell in it forever." (Psalm 37:28-29)

'No magic fixes' for Democrats as party confronts internal and fundraising struggles
|
|
MINNEAPOLIS — Ken Martin is in the fight of his life.
The low-profile political operative from Minnesota, just six months on the job as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is charged with leading his party's formal resistance to President Donald Trump and fixing the Democratic brand.
“I think the greatest divide right now in our party, frankly, is not ideological,” Martin told The Associated Press. “The greatest divide is those people who are standing up and fighting and those who are sitting on the sidelines.”
“We’re using every single lever of power we have to take the fight to Donald Trump,” he said of the DNC.
And yet, as hundreds of Democratic officials gather in Martin’s Minneapolis hometown on Monday for the first official DNC meeting since he became chair, there is evidence that Martin's fight may extend well beyond the current occupant of the Oval Office.
Big Democratic donors are unhappy with the direction of their own party and not writing checks. Political factions are fragmented over issues such as the Israel-Hamas war. The party's message is murky. Key segments of the Democratic base — working-class voters and young people, among them — have drifted away.
And there is deep frustration that the Democratic Party under Martin's leadership is not doing enough to stop the Republican president — no matter how tough his rhetoric may be.
“There are no magic fixes,” said Jeanna Repass, the chair of the Kansas Democratic Party, who praised Martin's performance so far. “He is trying to lead at a time where everyone wants it to be fixed right now. And it’s just not going to happen.”
At this week's three-day summer meeting, DNC officials hope to make real progress in reversing the sense of pessimism and frustration that has consumed Democrats since Republicans seized the White House and control of Congress last fall. (ABC News) Read more here.

- Father, we pray for the Democratic party to change or be removed, in Jesus' name. We pray for them to play fair and for the good of this nation and its freedoms. We stand against tyranny, threats and accusations that seem to come daily against our President and those who follow Republican, Conservative, Constitutional and Christian beliefs, in Jesus' name. We pray for the Democrats to meet Jesus in their dreams and visions so they would see such a precious value in humanity that they seem to lack currently. We forgive them and pray for their freedom from bondage, in Jesus' name.

1. Netanyahu hails Hezbollah disarmament plan, pledges Israeli support - JNS
Israel stands ready to support Lebanon in its efforts to disarm Hezbollah, and to work together towards a more secure and stable future for both nations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Monday.
The premier hailed Beirut’s early-Augustapproval of a U.S.-backed plan as a “significant step” and a “momentous decision.” The plan directs the army to begin working toward the disarmament of Hezbollah and all other non-state armed groups by the end of 2025.
“If the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) take the necessary steps to implement the disarmament of Hezbollah, Israel will engage in reciprocal measures, including a phased reduction of IDF presence in coordination with the U.S.-led security mechanism,” said Netanyahu. (Read more)

They also stated that the "violations" included the "settlers" entering the al-Aqsa Mosque plaza and committing "provocative acts" under heavy security of the Israeli security forces, who provided full protection during their "infiltration" and stay at the site. (Read more)

5. Largest dam in Israel's history revealed in Jerusalem - Israel Hayom
Breakthrough research conducted by the Israel Antiquities Authority and the Weizmann Institute of Science, published in the prestigious journal PNAS, establishes through comprehensive archaeological analysis that a climate catastrophe prompted Judah's monarchs to engineer a monumental dam in Jerusalem approximately 2,800 years ago, according to the Israel Antiquities Authority.
The colossal barrier, discovered during Pool of Siloam excavations in the City of David National Park, dates precisely to 795-805 BCE during the reigns of Kings Joash or Amaziah of Judah. Construction appears to have responded directly to severe water shortages caused by climatic challenges.
Two additional water systems from the same period join this newly uncovered structure. A tower that dammed the Gihon Spring and a channel that carried its waters into the Pool of Siloam, where they merged with floodwaters blocked by the dam, form this comprehensive network. These systems demonstrate comprehensive urban planning for managing Jerusalem's water supply as early as the late 9th century BCE, providing clear evidence of the city's strength and sophistication. 1. Trump Inks Proclamation Honoring GIs Lost at Abbey Gate - Newsmax
Surrounded by the surviving family of service members killed in the 2021 Abbey Gate bombing in Afghanistan, President Donald Trump on Monday signed a proclamation honoring the dead.
With the proclamation in front of him and family members on all sides of his desk, Trump said:
"There are some great souls that are looking down on you right now, and they're very proud of their parents and brothers and sisters. But moms and dads especially. That's what I seem to have dealt with mostly. There's nothing tougher."
Trump used his speech to a joint session of Congress in March to announce that the "monster" who set off the bomb that killed 13 U.S. service members at the airport in Kabul had been captured.
The Abbey Gate bombing also killed 170 Afghan citizens. (Read more)

2. US backs ambassador to France in antisemitism row - LeMonde
A diplomatic row between the United States and France escalated on Monday, August 25, when Washington decided to stand firmly behind its ambassador's criticism of the French response to a rising tide of antisemitism. US ambassador Charles Kushner, the father of President Donald Trump's son-in-law, was ordered to report to the French Foreign Ministry on Monday, and it was not immediately clear whether the meeting had taken place.
The row erupted amid concerns about an increase in antisemitic acts and hate crimes in France as international tensions mount over the conflict in Gaza. Kushner, in a public letter to French President Emmanuel Macron, has accused France of a "lack of sufficient action." France retorted that "the allegations from the ambassador are unacceptable" and the rift deepened on Monday when Kushner was summoned to the ministry and the Trump administration doubled down on his critique. Holy One, strengthen the voice and authority of Ambassador Kushner in France and bring President Macron under Your authority, allowing him to see the whole issue with Your eyes, so he would turn to righteousness, in Jesus' name.

3. Judge: Minnesota Can’t Discriminate Against Religious Schools - Daily Signal
A federal judge Friday struck down a Minnesota law barring colleges that require statements of faith from a state-funded program.
U.S. District Judge Nancy E. Brasel said the law, signed by Gov. Tim Walz in 2023, violated both the First Amendment and the Minnesota Constitution by disqualifying “‘some private schools’ from funding ‘solely because they are religious.’”
The case concerned a state program that allows high schoolers to earn college credits at state expense. The program funds courses at both public and private universities, only requiring that credits be limited to “nonsectarian courses.”
For years, this meant that high schoolers could receive credit for classes taken at the college of their choice, religious or not. But in 2023, the state Legislature passed a bill amending the list of eligible institutions to exclude colleges that require faith statements for admission.
In May 2023, Walz signed the bill into law. (Read more)

4. 'Alligator Alcatraz,' Which an Obama-Appointed Judge Halted for Causing 'Irreparable' Habitat Damage, Takes Up 0.0005 Percent of the Nature Preserve It Sits Within - Free Beacon
The federal judge who halted construction of "Alligator Alcatraz" argued that the migrant detention center would cause "irreparable harm" to endangered species' habitats. The facility takes up just 0.0005 percent of the nature preserve it is located within.
Judge Kathleen Williams, whom former president Barack Obama appointed in 2011, ruled that the detention facility "creates irreparable harm in the form of habitat loss and increased mortality to endangered species in the area." She barred new migrants from being held there and ordered the removal of some equipment.
"This ruling from an activist judge ignores the fact that this land has already been developed for a decade," she told the Washington Free Beacon. "It is another attempt to prevent the President from fulfilling the American people's mandate to remove the worst of the worst including gang members, murderers, pedophiles, terrorists, and rapists from our country." 5. EPA urged by state AGs to axe funds for 'radical' climate project accused of training judges - Fox News
Nearly two dozen Republican state attorneys general sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency chief Lee Zeldin Tuesday, calling on him to cancel funding to a left-wing environmental group accused of training and lobbying judges on climate policy, Fox News Digital exclusively learned.
"As attorney general, I refuse to stand by while Americans' tax dollars fund radical environmental training for judges across the country," Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen told Fox News Digital of his push to encourage the EPA to end its funding of the Climate Judiciary Project.
"The Environmental Law Institute's Climate Judiciary Project is using woke climate propaganda, under the guise of what they call 'neutral' education, to persuade judges and push their wildly unpopular agenda through the court system," he said. "I commend President Trump's efforts to cut waste and abuse during the first eight months of his presidency, and I am optimistic that his Administration will do the right thing and halt all funding to ELI."
"The Climate Judiciary Project’s mission is clear: lobby judges in order to make climate change policy through the courts," 23 state attorneys general wrote in the letter. "An alumni magazine profile said the quiet part out loud, writing that the Climate Judiciary Project co-founder was ‘explaining the science of climate change to a group of people with real power to act on it: judges.’ The Climate Judiciary Project’s tampering raises serious legal and ethical questions." - Holy One, we denounce this action of the ELI organization and thank You for raising up the Montana Attorney General and 22 other state A.G.s who are sounding the alarm over the unrighteous training being taught to our judges. May the A.G.s be powerful and effective in stopping this indoctrination of our judiciary on behalf of the climate control agenda, in Jesus' name. We pray for Lee Zeldin to gain a deeper understanding of the gravity of the environmental issue being used for control, regarding climate change and climate manipulation through HAARP, chemtrails and other areas such as fires and floods, in Jesus' name. We pray for justice to prevail, in Jesus' name.

6. Blue city residents plead for Trump’s help as ‘out of control’ crime leads to another bloody weekend - Fox News
After yet another bloody weekend, some Chicago residents said they would welcome reinforcements if President Donald Trump decides to federalize the police force in Chicago.
Trump first floated the idea on Friday during a press conference in the Oval Office after seeing success with the same effort in Washington, D.C., which went 12 days without a homicide.
"Chicago’s a mess," Trump said on Friday, adding that it would "be our next one after this," following the federal intervention in Washington, D.C. "Chicago's a killing field right now, and they don't acknowledge it," he said on Monday. "And they say, we don't need him."
Danielle Carter-Walters, a Black woman, is a personal trainer in the city. She is also the co-founder of Chicago Flips Red, a group of Windy City Trump supporters."I stay on the South Side of Chicago," she said. "I’m living the experience. You can’t sit in your car without worrying about being robbed, mugged, shot, carjacked. We definitely need something to be done." (Read more)

- Prince of Peace, we pray for Your peace to rule and reign in the dangerous cities of our nation, in Your name. We know there are some strategies that can be used by President Trump, but we also know that our Constitution prohibits the federal government from acting as a police force in sovereign states and cities. We pray for righteousness in all decisions that are made and that You will lead and guide our President to lift up the police forces of the states and their citizens so they can be safe and secure on their streets, and know that the bad guys are securely imprisoned, in Jesus' name.
- "I called on Your name, O Lord, From the lowest pit. You have heard my voice; 'Do not hide Your ear From my sighing, from my cry for help.' You drew near on the day I called on You, And said, 'Do not fear!' O Lord, You have pleaded the case for my soul; You have redeemed my life." (Lamentations 3:55-58)

Self-Righteous Entitlement
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, August 26, 2025
Let’s introduce a new phrase: self-righteous entitlement. This is when people believe they’re owed rights that simply don’t exist, and worse, they wrap their demand in a cloak of moral superiority. It shows up in everyday life. A parent insists their child deserves playing time on a sports team even if they aren’t good enough, because the parent volunteers or simply “deserve” it. That’s not fairness, but rather favoritism justified by entitlement. The underlying message is that rules and standards are fine for everyone else, but not for an individual convinced his/her felt-righteousness demands an exception. Left unchecked, this mindset corrodes trust, breaks down order, and undermines the very foundation of accountability.
We see this spirit in people who believe their “rights” place them above rules. It might be individuals ignoring policies at work because they think rules don’t apply to them, or politicians who assume their personal cause gives them immunity. The danger multiplies when leaders in positions of power justify nearly anything by claiming moral authority. John Locke, one of the key thinkers behind the concept of civil society, taught that people agree to give up certain liberties in order to protect themselves and others from the lawless. Government’s role is to preserve life and liberty by restraining chaos and lawlessness. When leaders act as though their cause justifies stepping outside the law, they flip Locke’s principle on its head and invite disorder. People see it as justification of violence and bullying if they don’t get what they want. Read More

Pickett Fire In California Threatens
Napa Vineyards
|
|
|
The blaze has burned 10 square miles, and 500 structures are threatened. Here's the latest.
Firefighters in Napa County, California, have been working around the clock for days to contain a wildfire that continues to grow. The Pickett Fire, as it is known, had burned more than 10 square miles as of Monday evening.
Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit and other agencies have deployed more than 1,000 emergency personnel to the scene, with hand crews, dozers, engines, water tenders and helicopters putting in an aggressive effort to suppress the blaze, which is 15% contained.
Some 500 buildings are threatened by the fire in the towns of Aetna Springs and Pope Valley, located about 80 miles north of San Francisco.
"Fire activity was moderated Sunday," said Cal Fire's Monday morning report. "Firefighters made good progress strengthening containment lines and mopping up hot spots. Some evacuation orders were downgraded on the west side of the fire line in the area where the fire started."
Heat has played a major role in the blaze and the safety of firefighter crews.
Though the fire has burned in the relatively remote hills of Napa County, many evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect for the surrounding area. Several nearby vineyards are reportedly threatened by the growing blaze, but none have been damaged so far, according to the Associated Press. Read More

Celebrating Rosh Chodesh Elul
“The King is in the field.”
|
|
|
Today is Rosh Chodesh Elul, the first day of the month that leads us toward Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. In our tradition, Elul is a time of return — to our best selves, to one another, and to G-d. It is also a time of closing the chapter on the year that has passed, looking honestly at what we’ve planted and tended, and preparing the soil for the year ahead.
This month invites us to pause and prepare our hearts for the High Holy Days. The shofar sounds, Psalm 27 is recited, and we remember: “The King is in the field.” Usually, a king is distant, surrounded by gates, guards, and ceremony. But during Elul, the King — a metaphor for G-d — comes out into the open field, walking among the people. There, we can meet face-to-face, without barriers.
May this month of Elul be a time when you feel the Presence in the field with you — close enough to meet your gaze, open enough to hear your heart, and steady enough to carry you into a New Year of renewal.
With blessings for the season of repentance, restoration and gratitude,

Dear Friends,
Often we receive wonderful messages of encouragement as we continue to "plow the field" of intercession for our nation, for President Trump, and for world affairs.
As we prepare to stand down now for our end-of-summer break, we want to share some of these letters with you. Standing together, we ARE making a difference on earth, and in heaven, we work together to build His Kingdom through prayer.
May God bless you all, and we'll see you again next Tuesday, September 2nd, after the Labor Day weekend.
Shalom!

Dear Sara,
We are pleased that you & your team will take a stand down time to rest, refresh, & spend time with your families.
Just know that some of us are reading CHPP & are appreciative beyond words to be recipients of your calling’s labor. Continue to regularly mention this online news source to fellow Christians. Been using CHPP once a week for over 6 years! It was very interesting that during the dark days of the Biden administration we scrolled to the end & began reading the Good News Corner first. Shortly, thereafter, you flipped it to the top!
Many blessings to you all,
Dawn R.

Dear Sara,
Thank you so much for this wonderful news [that we will revert to our 5:00 a.m. publishing next week] and for the team's willingness and decision to do that. May God bless you all and give you all that you need to accomplish it.
Please thank them for me, for us. God is good and we praise Him.
This is going to be such a blessing to all CHPP intercessors. Your sacrifices to do so are greatly appreciated.
Love in Christ,

Mileslong Dust Storm Halts Flights and Cuts Power in Arizona: 'Couldn’t See My Hand in Front of My Face'

Called a haboob, the dust was accompanied by rain and wind that left thousands without power and caused delays at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
- Phoenix and other cities in Arizona were affected by a dramatic dust storm called a haboob on Monday, Aug. 25
- The storm was accompanied by heavy rain and winds, leaving thousands without power and temporarily grounding flights at one of the nation's busiest airports
- A haboob can send dust flying 10,000 feet into the air and reduces visibility to near-zero
Parts of Arizona were brought to a standstill after being hit by a massive dust storm, called a haboob, earlier this week.
The storm, followed by heavy rains and wind, swept over Phoenix and Arizona City on Monday, Aug. 25, according to NBC News.
Fox Weather reported that gusts of wind ranging from 60 to 66 mph were measured across the area.
One video shared by NBC showed the storm "stretching for miles into the distance."
The weather knocked out power for as many as 15,000 people on Monday evening, according to NBC News and the Associated Press.
Speaking to the AP, Bernae Boykin Hitesman recalled being stuck in her car with her two young children when the storm hit.
They were surrounded by harrowing conditions for around 15 minutes, left unable to see and tasting dust through the closed windows.
“I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face if I put my hand outside,” Boykin Hitesman said, adding that she "was nervous" but tried "to be brave" for her children, who are 9 and 11. Read More

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name."
