California Church Wins Major Legal Victory
After State Drops $67K in COVID Fines
|
|
California regulators have backed down from a major enforcement action against a Bay Area church and Christian school, dismissing all citations and fines issued during the height of the state’s pandemic restrictions. The case really shows how contentious the relationship between government power and religious liberty remains.
As reported by The Christian Post, Calvary Chapel San Jose and its affiliated Calvary Christian Academy were hit with 15 citations totaling $67,330 after state inspectors alleged children were not wearing masks in 2020. Cal/OSHA pursued a warrant to conduct further inspections, triggering a lengthy legal battle.
Attorneys with Advocates for Faith & Freedom challenged the warrant as unconstitutional, arguing that state officials relied on “a faulty affidavit” and lacked the specific factual basis required under the Fourth Amendment. The judge agreed, suppressing all evidence obtained during the inspections. Once the evidence collapsed, Cal/OSHA “ultimately withdrew all remaining citations,” and confirmed there was “no finding of wrongdoing,” according to the ministry’s lawyers. We Praise You and ask for blessings and favor upon the Judge and Attorneys from 'Advocates for Fatih and Freedom'. Thank You for protecting those who continued to worship and gather in churches and schools during the oppressive time of Covid. We pray for Your faithful protection upon the Body of Christ and for our nation to forever be safeguarded from pandemics and demonic ploys of the enemy, We declare in Jesus Name that believers will see God's tangible Hand of Protection upon them and upon the Body of Christ, throughout our nation and around the world. We trust Your promises and lift all praise to You, Father!! In Yeshua's powerful Name we pray-Amen.

Police apprehend person of interest in shooting at Brown University that killed two, wounded nine
|
|
Police early Sunday apprehended a person of interest in a mass shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island that killed two students and wounded nine others preparing for final exams.
Providence Mayor Brett Smiley announced a man still believed to be in his 30s was detained but offered no details details in his identity or where he was apprehended.
But police in Coventry, R.I., about 20 miles away from the shooting scene confirmed to local TV station WPRI that they assisted the FBI in the apprehension at a hotel in their community about 3:45 AM on Saturday.
“This is exactly the kind of collaboration that we train for and that we hope for,” Smiley told a news conference. “Our partnership with the FBI, with the state police, and obviously, the heroic actions of the Providence police have brought us to this point.”
The mayor confirmed that a shelter in place order which had been issued after the shooting occurred late Saturday afternoon has now been lifted.
Police spent hours conducting a massive manhunt Saturday night for a man dressed in black clothing seen on security video leaving an engineering school building where the shooting occurred. (Just the News) Read more here.

Australian authorities: Bondi Beach shooting was 'terrorism ... designed to target Sydney's Jewish community'
|
|
A mass shooting during a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, on Sunday evening left at least 12 people dead and 29 people hospitalized, authorities say.
The annual celebration, known as "Chanukah By The Sea," was scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. to celebrate the first day of the Jewish holiday by lighting the first candle on the Menorah. Police say the attack "targeted" the Jewish community and is being investigated as an act of terrorism.
The New South Wales Police Force (NSWPF) said officers responded to reports of shots fired at about 6:45 p.m. on Sunday. Police say there were at least two gunmen involved in the attack, and they are investigating the possibility of a third. Twelve people were killed in the shooting, including one of the two suspected gunmen, police said. The second alleged shooter is in critical condition.
At least 29 others were hospitalized after the shooting, including two police officers, the agency confirmed. The shooting is the worst attack against Jews since the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terror attacks. (Fox News) Read more.

Lord, we must have a move of repentance, as foolish governments have allowed terrorists into nations across the globe. We pray on our knees for You to bring heart change and restore hope to Your people. Only the Holy Spirit can do this.

2 US Army soldiers, interpreter killed in Syria ambush attack
|
|
Two U.S. Army soldiers and a U.S. interpreter were killed Saturday in an ambush attack in Syria, the Pentagon said.
"Today in Palmyra, Syria, two United States Army soldiers and one civilian U.S. interpreter were killed, and three were wounded," Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell wrote on X.
"The attack occurred as the soldiers were conducting a key leader engagement. Their mission was in support of ongoing counter-ISIS/counter-terrorism operations in the region," he added, noting that "The soldiers’ names, as well as identifying information about their units, are being withheld until 24 hours after the next of kin notification. "
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth added that, "The savage who perpetrated this attack was killed by partner forces."
"Let it be known, if you target Americans — anywhere in the world — you will spend the rest of your brief, anxious life knowing the United States will hunt you, find you, and ruthlessly kill you," Hegseth also said in a post on X. (Fox News) Read more.

Israel announces it killed one of the architects of the Oct. 7 attacks

Ra'ad Sa'ad was working to reestablish terror group's capabilities and weapons manufacturing in recent months, an IDF official said
|
|
|
Israel announced Saturday it had killed Ra’ad Sa’ad, the head of the Weapons Production Headquarters in Hamas’ military wing and one of the architects of Oct. 7.
"Sa’ad was one of the last remaining veteran senior militants in the Gaza Strip and a close associate of Marwan Issa, the deputy head of Hamas’ military wing. He held several senior positions and was a central figure within the organization’s military leadership," the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) wrote on X.
The IDF added his death "significantly degrades Hamas' ability to reestablish its capabilities."
An IDF official told Fox News that, in recent months, Sa'ad had been working to reestablish the terror group's capabilities and weapons manufacturing in violation of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire. The official also stated that, under the ceasefire agreement, Israel is allowed to strike targets that are actively engaging in terrorism.
Sa'ad previously served as the Gaza Brigade commander and is regarded as one of the founders of Hamas' military wing, the IDF official told Fox News. He was considered one of the highest-ranking Hamas members remaining in Gaza. The IDF official said Sa'ad was privy to Hamas leadership matters and was a central figure in orchestrating the Oct. 7 massacre. (Fox News) Read more here.

1. At least 15 killed as gunmen open fire on Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach - Times of Israel
Two gunmen shot dead at least 15 people on Sunday at a Hanukkah event being held at Sydney’s Bondi Beach to mark the first night of the Jewish holiday, Australian authorities said, in one of the deadliest attacks targeting Jews outside Israel in decades and the worst on Jews abroad since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack.
Jewish leaders in Australia and Israeli officials described the deadly shooting as an outgrowth of rising antisemitism globally since October 7, 2023, with many accusing the Australian government of doing too little to protect the country’s Jewish community.
Australian officials declared the incident a terror attack, and the country’s prime minister vowed to “eradicate” antisemitism. (Read more)

2. Israeli official on Bondi Beach attack: 'Iran is behind it' - Israel Hayom
As the death toll from the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach continued to rise, a senior Israeli security official told Israel Hayom that "in recent months there has been increased activity by Iran to orchestrate attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets around the world," adding: "There is no doubt that the direction and infrastructure for the attack originated in Tehran."
At least several people were killed in the shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, including a Chabad emissary. According to reports by local media, two terrorists were arrested by local police following the attack.
An Israeli intelligence source told Israel Hayom that "in recent months there has been a marked increase in activity by Iran and its proxies, the terrorist organizations Hezbollah and Hamas, aimed at carrying out attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets worldwide." (Read more)

3. Netanyahu: 'Safest place in the world for Jewish people is Israel'
- Israel National News
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu on Sunday evening lit the first Hanukkah candle at the National Police Academy together with National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, his wife Ayala, and Israel Police Inspector-General Danny Levy.
The moving ceremony was attended by the family of the National Counter-Terrorism Unit fighter Master-Sgt. Ran Gvili, of blessed memory, who fought bravely on October 7 and was taken hostage to Gaza; Israel Police Chief Rabbi Rami Berakhyahu; the senior police command staff; and male and female police officers.
"We will bring Ran back, just as we brought back 254 out of our 255 abductees," Netanyahu began. "Some did not believe. I believe. My friends in the government believed. They said: 'It will be a miracle.' I said: 'This nation performs miracles.' The Holy One, Blessed be He, helps a people who help themselves. We are a people who have learned to help ourselves, because we knew that in times of distress, it is not certain that anyone else will help us." (Read more)

5. IDF targets three Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon - JNS
The Israel Defense Forces struck three Hezbollah terrorists in attacks throughout Southern Lebanon on Sunday.
The targeted operatives were involved in attempts to rebuild the Iran-backed terrorist group’s infrastructure, and their actions constituted a violation of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, the IDF stated.
Lebanon’s Al-Akhbar newspaper, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, reported that one of the aerial attacks involved a drone strike that targeted a vehicle near the southern Shi’ite village of Jwaya, in the Tyre District.
A ceasefire went into effect on Nov. 27, 2024, following an intense two-month IDF military campaign that led to the weakening of the Iranian proxy’s leadership. The deal was cemented by the Israeli and Lebanese governments and five mediating countries, including the United States. (Read more)

1. DHS to focus on arresting illegal immigrants with serious offenses amid negative polling on ICE raids: report - Fox News
The Department of Homeland Security is amending its immigration enforcement operations by moving away from raids targeting all illegal immigrants in the U.S. and focusing more on the ones who have committed serious offenses, according to a report.
Teams under U.S. Border Patrol Commander at Large Gregory Bovino will shift their focus to specific targets, including illegal immigrants who have been convicted of serious crimes, NewsNation reported.
The change means federal agents will put a smaller emphasis on carrying out large raids that have happened at Home Depot stores and other locations, according to the out
Illegal immigrants have been targeted based on characteristics such as ethnicity, accent, language or location, such as being at a Home Depot or a car wash.
Agents will still conduct traffic stop enforcement, but Border Patrol is unlikely to continue grabbing people off the streets, the outlet reported.
The reported change in immigration enforcement comes as support for President Donald Trump's mass deportation policies has tanked in the polls. (Read more)

2. Trump Impeachment Effort Fails in Congress, Dems Join Republicans in Killing Motion from Al Green – Breitbart
The House of Representatives rejected an attempt to impeach President Donald Trump on Thursday night, with 23 Democrats siding with Republicans to quash the motion introduced by Rep. Al Green (D-TX).
As he demanded a vote to impeach Trump on Wednesday, Green called him “an abuser of presidential power.”
According to Green, the president is “engendering invidious hate, putting American lives at risk, undermining our democracy, and dissolving our Republic.”
Citing Trump’s fiery response to Democrat lawmakers’ “seditious” video calling on military service members and intelligence officials to refuse “illegal orders” from the Trump administration, Green argued that if any other president had said that sedition is “punishable by death” the opposition party “would have voted to impeach him.”
The congressman went on to invoke the names of late civil rights activists Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), calling on his fellow representatives to “take a stand,” like they did, and impeach Trump. (Read more)

3. Federal appeals court lets Pentagon reinstate transgender service ban, says judge overstepped military leaders – Fox News
A divided federal appeals court on Tuesday allowed the Pentagon to temporarily enforce its revived ban on transgender military service, ruling that a lower court improperly blocked the Trump administration’s 2025 policy.
The decision marks a major development in one of the most closely watched military policy cases in the country.
The 2–1 ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit stays a district court’s preliminary injunction and permits the Trump administration to continue enforcing the restrictions while litigation continues.
"Today’s victory is a great win for the security of the American people," White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly told Fox News Digital. "As commander in chief, President Trump has the executive authority to ensure that our Department of War prioritizes military readiness over woke gender ideology." (Read more)

4. Trump Touts U.S. Economy During EO Signing: ‘Hottest Country Anywhere in the World’ – Breitbart
President Donald Trump touted the U.S. economy Thursday during an Oval Office signing, highlighting a record-high stock market and falling gas prices.
Trump pointed to economic bright spots in response to a question from Breitbart News while wrapping up a gaggle with reporters.
“The stock market today hit another high. 52 times we hit a high in the 10-month period. That’s during my second presidency. And it’s been amazing,” he said. “Nobody’s seen anything like it. You know, we had the greatest economy in history in my first term. I think we’re blowing it away right now. I think we’re blowing it away.”
“And again, prices were the highest they ever were. Inflation was the highest in 48 years, or, I think, ever. They say 48 years, the press says 48 years,” he added. “I’ll accept that. But I think it was the highest inflation we’ve ever had under the past administration. We had the highest prices… Prices are coming way down. Energy is coming way down.”
Trump then pointed to gas prices under $1.99 per gallon in some states. In Oklahoma, for instance, gas prices at numerous stations registered below $2.00 a gallon on Friday, per Gas Buddy.
“Gasoline is hitting now $1.99 in a couple of states, and it’s way down. Gasoline is way down. And when gasoline and energy comes down, everything follows, but prices are coming down, and we have an unbelievable economy,” Trump said. (Read more)

5. America’s Near-Trillion Dollar Defense Bill Adds Multiple Provisions Aimed Squarely At Hegseth’s Pentagon – Daily Caller
The new version of Congress’s near-trillion dollar defense budget bill includes multiple provisions aimed squarely at reigning in War Secretary Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon.
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2026 includes multiple amendments that target key decisions made by Pentagon leaders, including a provision that would slash Hegseth’s travel budget pending the Pentagon handing over unedited footage of strikes against vessels in the Caribbean. The bill also requires the Pentagon to station at least 76,000 troops in Europe for more than 45 days and blocks major equipment removals, despite the admin’s goals in reducing European commitments.
Additionally, the bill also requires that Congress be notified of any removals of Joint Chiefs, combatant commanders and judge advocates general, responding to the numerous firings in the miliary under Hegseth’s Pentagon. (Read more)

Holy Lord, we pray for common sense to reign over the new NDAA. We ask that any anti-Hegseth and anti-Trump agendas by Democrats and rogue Republicans be removed from this document. Let hate for this administration not be allowed to prevail.

6. Stefanik calls on feds to ramp up bid-rigging probe of Hochul homecare contract after ‘bombshell’ email emerges – New York Post
Rep. Elise Stefanik is demanding the feds ramp up its probe into alleged Hochul administration bid-rigging on a $1 billion Medicaid homecare contract — after newly surfaced emails revealed state officials met with reps for the winner two weeks before bidding began.
Stefanik — an upstate Republican planning to challenge Democratic Gov. Hochul in next year’s gubernatorial race — sent a Dec. 9 letter to US Attorney General Pamela Bondi saying “recent bombshell allegations have surfaced” — including a April 4, 2024 email from the state Health Department’s Medicaid Chief Operating Officer Amanda Lothrop to top executives at Georgia-based Public Partnerships LLC.
In the email, obtained through a Freedom of Information Law request by government watchdog group Empire Center for Public Policy, Lothrop invites PPL reps to an online meeting with her and three other state officials. (Read more)

Lord, we pray that You will reveal and handle any corruption involved in the New York Medicaid program. Let taxpayer money be directed to those who actually need it, not to anything corrupt. |
|
Former Colorado clerk Tina Peters has received a full pardon from President Donald Trump, but the move will not secure her release from prison. Peters, 70, is serving a nine-year sentence for state-level convictions related to the 2020 election, and a presidential pardon applies only to federal crimes.
What Did Tina Peters Do?
Peters, who served as the Mason County clerk in Colorado, was convicted in 2024 of several offenses, including:
- Attempting to influence a public official
- Conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation
- First-degree official misconduct
- Violation of duty
- Failure to comply with Colorado Secretary of State requirements

Iowa National Guard soldiers identified as victims in deadly Syria ISIS attack
|
|
|
The U.S. troops who were killed and injured in Saturday’s ambush attack in Syria were members of the Iowa National Guard, a senior U.S. official told Fox News.
An ISIS gunman opened fire with an automatic weapon in the central Syrian town of Palmyra, killing two Iowa National Guard soldiers and an American civilian translator, the official said.
Three additional U.S. soldiers were wounded in the attack.
Preliminary information suggests the attacker was once affiliated with the Syrian government forces and had been a low-level member of the Syrian Security Forces, before later becoming connected to ISIS, the official said.
"He was not a part of the official delegation that was being escorted by the U.S. and Syrian troops," the official said. "… This would not be considered a ‘green on blue’ incident because the Syrian gunman was not part of the U.S./Syrian partnered delegation." (Fox News) Read more here.

Makes Statement after 2 U.S. soldiers and civilian killed in attack on U.S.-Syrian patrol in Syria
|
|
|
Two U.S. Army soldiers and a U.S. civilian who was serving as an interpreter were killed after shots were fired at U.S. and Syrian forces on a mission to a historic central town in Syria on Saturday, U.S. military officials said. President Trump said that there will be a "very serious retaliation" after the attack, which he attributed to the Islamic State.
"This was an ISIS attack against the U.S., and Syria, in a very dangerous part of Syria, that is not fully controlled by them," Mr. Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Saturday. "The President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is extremely angry and disturbed by this attack. There will be very serious retaliation."
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a post on X that the attack occurred as the soldiers were conducting a "key leader engagement." He said three other service members were injured in the incident.
"Their mission was in support of on-going counter-ISIS / counter-terrorism operations in the region," he said, adding that the soldiers' names, as well as identifying information about their units, will be withheld until 24 hours after the next of kin notification. "This attack is currently under active investigation."
U.S. Central Command said the attack was a "result of an ambush by a lone ISIS gunman in Syria," and that the "gunman was engaged and killed." (CBS News) Read more.

Divided Senate Rejects Dueling Obamacare Bills
|
|
|
|
A Senate effort to address expiring subsidies on Obamacare premiums fell short on Sunday after a Democratic proposal and a Republican proposal both failed to clear the 60-vote threshold to advance. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) had promised Democrats a vote on health care measures as part of the deal to end the government shutdown, but he never promised Republican support for subsidies “spending taxpayer dollars on abortion or gender transition procedures,” as FRC President Tony Perkins described them in October.
The bill advanced by Democrats proposed a clean, three-year extension of enhanced Obamacare subsidies that Democrats first authorized without GOP support during the COVID era. Republicans have never voted for the subsidies and had repeatedly expressed concerns about the lack of guardrails against funding abortions or gender transition procedures.
“Democrats continue to be dismissive about Hyde protections, because they say they’re effectively in there,” complained Senator Thom Tillis (R-N.C.). “If they’re interested in actually extending the subsidies, if they’re effectively in there, then why should they worry about us putting language in that assures that?”
Last month, Perkins argued the Democrats had to pass enhanced subsidies “because Obamacare is a failed system. The Affordable Care Act is an example of government malpractice — it’s a failure. These subsidies are riddled with waste, fraud, and abuse — and worse, they fund insurance plans that cover abortion and gender transition procedures.”
In his final pitch, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) simply argued, “Our bill is the last train leaving the station,” apparently without realizing that this was an argument against boarding a train in the wrong direction.
However, the Democratic bill failed to clear the 60-vote threshold in a 51-48 vote. Republican Senators Susan Murkowski (Alaska), Dan Sullivan (Alaska), Susan Collins (Maine), and Josh Hawley (Mo.) voted with Democrats for the plan, not wanting to see the subsidies lapse (Steve Daines, R-Mont., was absent for both votes). Lord, we ask that You find a solution for this problem so that Americans are protected- both against pro-abortion language and higher premiums. We call upon Your mercy and grace as these situations threaten to destroy insurance for all Americans.

'A scale almost too big to imagine': Scientists spot monster black hole roaring with winds at more than 130 million mph
|
|
|
Astronomers have spotted a supermassive black hole whipping up cosmic winds at record speeds.
The black hole, located 135 million light-years from Earth in the center of the NGC 3783 spiral galaxy, caught researchers' attention after emitting a huge X-ray flare. As the burst died down, it left winds of more than 37,000 miles per second (60,000 kilometers per second) — one-fifth the speed of light — howling in its wake.
"We've not watched a black hole create winds this speedily before," Liyi Gu, an astronomer at Space Research Organisation Netherlands who led the research, said in a statement.
Gu and his colleagues were studying NGC 3783's active galactic nucleus (AGN), the bright, busy region surrounding a galaxy's feeding supermassive black hole. These areas are known to suddenly flare and belch jets of material and wind into space. The researchers think the intense X-ray burst and subsequent gale they observed was powered by the black hole's tangled magnetic field, which suddenly "untwisted."
The team likened the process to how Earth's sun releases enormous eruptions of plasma called coronal mass ejections shortly after our star's magnetic field lines tangle and snap. However, in this case, the supermassive black hole has the mass of 30 million suns, which puts its flares and ejections "on a scale almost too big to imagine," Matteo Guainazzi, a team member and European Space Agency (ESA) astronomer, said in the statement. (For reference, the winds from a recent coronal mass ejection clocked in at a paltry 930 miles, or 1,500 km, per second.) (Live Science) Read More
