First lady Melania Trump decorates the White House for Christmas:
'Home is Where the Heart Is'
|
|
EXCLUSIVE: The White House is officially decorated for Christmas with a decor and a theme personally selected by first lady Melania Trump to celebrate the holiday season — "Home is Where the Heart Is." This is the fifth time Trump has had the opportunity to decorate 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the Christmas season. This year, the first lady’s decor highlights the American spirit of "generosity, patriotism, and gratitude." Trump has decked the halls of the White House this season with more than 25,000 feet of ribbon; more than 2,000 strands of light; more than 120 pounds of gingerbread; more than 2,800 gold stars; more than 10,000 blue butterflies; and more than 700 feet of garland. "Every detail of the 2025 White House Christmas decorations was personally selected by Mrs. Trump to honor the heart of America and the theme ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is,’" the White House told Fox News Digital.
The White House has 51 Christmas trees and 75 of Trump’s signature Christmas wreaths. The wreaths have classic red bows and hang outside the windows of the White House. "The saying ‘Home is Where the Heart is’ resonates deeply with me, especially as I navigate the joys, challenges, and frequent motion that comes with motherhood and business," the first lady told Fox News Digital. "The constant movement has taught me that home is not merely a physical space; rather, it is the warmth and comfort I carry within, regardless of my surroundings. This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us," she continued. "After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with grace, radiance, and endless possibilities." (Fox News) Read More Here

Father, we celebrate First Lady Melania Trump and her beautiful 2025 Christmas decorations at the White House. May the theme 'Home is Where the Heart Is' resonate across our nation as we prepare our hearts to honor Christ and also commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States this coming summer. Lord, we invite Your presence into Washington D.C. and the White House. We celebrate alongside both our President and Melania Trump, the spirit of love, generosity, patriotism and gratitude over our beautiful nation, as we celebrate the birth of Christ and His Light into the world!! Amen and Amen.
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising." (Isaiah 60:1-3)

Trump invites families of two National Guard members shot in DC to White House, plans to honor soldiers
|
|
|
Army Spc Sarah Beckstrom died, Air Force Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe remains hospitalized after DC attack
|
|
President Donald Trump said Sunday that he spoke with the families of the two National Guardsmen shot last week in Washington, D.C. — telling the parents of 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom, who died from her injuries, and Andrew Wolfe, who is "fighting for his life," that he wants to honor both soldiers at the White House.
Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that the families of the West Virginia National Guard members were "devastated" following the attack that unfolded just blocks from the White House on Wednesday.
"Andrew is fighting for his life, and his parents are unbelievably great people, highly religious people," Trump said. "They're praying, and they want everybody to pray for Andrew, and he has a chance to make it."
Trump said he discussed a White House visit with both families.
"I said, ‘When you’re ready, because that's a tough thing, come to the White House. We're going to honor Sarah,’" Trump told reporters. "And likewise with Andrew, recover or not." (Fox News) Read more here.

Lord God, we pray for these families, that you would heal their emotions, their mind and their soul right now of all loss and all trauma from this tragic event. Thank you for our president who is honoring them and helping them any way he can. And we just pray that your Spirit rest on these families as they visit the White House, giving them peace that surpasses all knowledge and understanding, in Jesus' name, amen.
"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace." (Numbers 6:24-26)

Advocate warned Afghan evacuee was 'not functional as a person' months before National Guard shooting
|
|
|
Emails show Rahmanullah Lakanwal quit his job and stopped responding to family before DC shooting
|
|
The Afghan man accused of shooting two National Guard members last week had been mentally declining for years, according to emails reviewed by The Associated Press that detailed long stretches of isolation, escalating instability and sudden cross-country trips that preceded the attack blocks from the White House.
The AP reported that 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal had drawn concern for months, with interviews and records showing him dropping out of work, slipping into long periods of silence and taking abrupt road trips ahead of the shooting.
One email cited by the AP warned that "Rahmanullah has not been functional as a person, father and provider since March of last year," describing how he quit his job, shut himself in a "darkened room" for days and stopped responding even to his wife and older children.
The emails showed that an advocate feared he might harm himself but said they never saw signs suggesting he might become violent toward others.
The emails also described how he alternated between "periods of dark isolation and reckless travel," including trips to Chicago, Arizona and eventually Washington, D.C., shortly before the shooting.
The swings reportedly intensified as he abandoned English classes, drifted in and out of short-term jobs and left his children arriving at school unbathed or wearing the same clothes for days.
In one email cited by the AP, the advocate wrote that attempts to correct course often "quickly evolved into ‘manic’ episodes for one or two weeks at a time, where he will take off in the family car, and drive nonstop," leaving his wife to repeatedly manage the fallout. (Fox News) Read more here.

Lord God, we pray over this tragic situation and all those suffering because of this, that you would comfort them, lead them, and guide them. We pray peace over this holiday season that all public gatherings and celebrations would be protected. We break all planned attacks by the enemy with the blood of Jesus. We agree with the statement made by our President that this terrorist was truly a monster, who left only a legacy of death and destruction. Thank You, O Lord, for watching over all of us as we continue to celebrate the season of Your first coming. Amen!

Trump gave Maduro ultimatum to flee Venezuela as land operations loom: report
|
|
|
Venezuelan dictator reportedly asked for global amnesty and military control before talks stalled
|
|
President Donald Trump delivered a stern ultimatum to Nicolás Maduro to leave Venezuela immediately before announcing the country's airspace should be closed, according to a report.
Per the Miami Herald, Washington's warning was delivered in a phone call with Caracas and offered guaranteed evacuation for Maduro, his wife Cilia Flores, and their son, but only if the dictator agreed to resign on the spot. The conversation stalled, U.S. officials said, and within hours Washington escalated dramatically.
The ensuing impasse, a source told the outlet, was over Maduro asking for "global amnesty for any crimes he and his group had committed, and that was rejected."
"Second, they asked to retain control of the armed forces — similar to what happened in Nicaragua in ’91 with Violeta Chamorro. In return, they would allow free elections." The final issue was timing, according to the outlet, as Washington demanded that Maduro resign immediately – but Caracas refused.
Trump went on to announce Saturday that Venezuelan airspace would be considered "closed in its entirety." The Herald also reported that the Maduro government tried to schedule another call to Washington but received no response.
According to a defense expert familiar with the country’s military and state-linked cartel ties, Maduro and key players in his regime could now face their most serious threat yet. "I think the operations will start imminently," former Venezuelan diplomat Vanessa Neumann told Fox News Digital.
"The clearing of the airspace is an indication and a very clear public warning that missiles might be coming to take out command and control infrastructure or retaliatory infrastructure," Neumann said. "This will not be like breaking a jar into a thousand pieces, this is where you can lift the concentration of power, and it's easier to manage." (Fox News) Read more here.

Lord, we pray for Venezuela and the leaders there that they would make wise decisions and choose to comply with the United States. Help those who are suffering under this socialist regime. We ask for the defeat of the cartels who are now operating out of this nation, bringing dangerous drugs to our country. We pray for justice now but set our hope ultimately in the King of kings who will judge the nations with perfect justice at His return.
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16)

US sees progress after talks in Florida with Ukraine, but more work needed to reach deal
|
|
|
HALLANDALE BEACH, Florida, Nov 30 (Reuters) - U.S. and Ukrainian officials held what both sides called productive talks on Sunday about a Russia peace deal, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressing optimism about progress despite challenges to ending the more than 3-year-long war.
Rubio met with a Ukrainian delegation led by a new chief negotiator in Florida, his home state, for talks that he said were meant to create a pathway for Ukraine to remain sovereign and independent.
The Reuters Daily Briefing newsletter provides all the news you need to start your day. Sign up here.
"We continue to be realistic about how difficult this is, but optimistic, particularly given the fact that as we've made progress, I think there is a shared vision here that this is not just about ending the war," Rubio told reporters after the talks concluded. "It is about securing Ukraine's future, a future that we hope will be more prosperous than it's ever been."
The discussions were a follow-up to a new set of negotiations that began with a fresh U.S. blueprint for peace. Critics said the plan initially favored Russia, which started the conflict with a 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Special envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, were also present representing the U.S. side. Witkoff leaves on Monday for Moscow, where he is expected to meet Russian counterparts for talks this week.
"There's more work to be done. This is delicate," Rubio said. "There are a lot of moving parts, and obviously there's another party involved here ... that will have to be a part of the equation, and that will continue later this week, when Mr. Witkoff travels to Moscow."
Trump has expressed frustration at not being able to end the war. He pledged as a presidential candidate to do so in one day and has said he was surprised it has been so hard, given what he calls a strong relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has largely resisted concessions to stop the fighting. 1. Netanyahu pardon decision will be made for 'good of Israel,' Isaac Herzog vows
-The Jerusalem Post
Just a day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's pardon request was publicized, President Isaac Herzog said on Monday that his sole consideration would be what is in "the best interests of the State of Israel and Israeli society" as to whether he will grant the PM this key lifeline in his criminal trial.
“It is clear to me that the issue of the pardon is shaking many people in the country; it will be handled in the best possible way. I will consider only the good of the state,” Herzog stated.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu submitted a formal request for a presidential pardon to President Isaac Herzog, a move the President’s Office described as an extraordinary step with significant implications. (Read more)

2. Former Netanyahu lawyer says president can’t pardon PM without an admission of guilt - Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s former defense attorney said the presidential pardon request that Netanyahu submitted on Sunday could not be granted before the premier admitted guilt in his corruption trial.
“A pardon is given to an offender – that’s what the law stipulates,” said Micah Fettman in an interview with Channel 12. (Basic Law: The President stipulates that “The President of the State has the power to pardon offenders and modify sentences by reducing or commuting them.”)
Fettman’s comments came as anti-Netanyahu protesters rallied outside President Isaac Herzog’s home in Tel Aviv, demanding he reject Netanyahu’s pardon request. Herzog, for his part, said he was seeking a legal opinion on the pardon request before discussing it, and denied reports that he was currently leaning toward conditionally granting the request, or proposing a plea bargain, provided Netanyahu admits guilt and possibly also leaves politics. 4. Netanyahu praises Milei’s moral clarity on Israel ties - World Israel News
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday thanked Argentine President Javier Milei for recent remarks of support, saying they “touched the heart of every Israeli.”
Milei spoke at the Teatro Colón opera house in Buenos Aires on Nov. 27, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Delegación de Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas (DAIA), the umbrella organization of Argentina’s Jewish community.
“While the vast majority of the free world decided to turn its back on the Jewish state, we extended a hand to it; while the vast majority turned a deaf ear to the growth of antisemitism in their lands, we denounced it with even greater fervor, because evil cannot be met with indifference but must be confronted with a force of equal magnitude, yet in the opposite direction,” the Argentine leader said. 5. Pope Leo: Palestinian state 'only' solution to Israeli conflict - KSL
BEIRUT, Lebanon — Pope Leo said on Sunday that the only solution in the decades-long conflict between Israel and the Palestinian people must include a Palestinian state, reaffirming the Vatican's position.
"We all know that at this time Israel still does not accept that solution, but we see it as the only solution," Leo, the first U.S. pope, told journalists on a flight from Turkey to Lebanon during his first in-flight press conference.
"We are also friends with Israel, and we are seeking to be a mediating voice between the two parties that might help them close in on a solution with justice for everyone," added the pope, speaking in Italian.

1.White House releases details of Trump's MRI scan - CBS News
"As part of President Donald Jr. Trump's comprehensive executive physical, advanced imaging was performed because men in his age group benefit from a thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health," reads a letter dated Dec. 1 from Sean Barbabella, physician to the president. "The purpose of this imaging is preventative: to identify issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure he maintains long-term vitality and function."
Barbabella said the president's cardiovascular imaging "is perfectly normal," and his abdominal imaging "is also perfectly normal."
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt read Barbabella's letter to reporters in Monday's press briefing. (Read more here)

2. Ukraine says it hit Russian ‘shadow fleet’ tankers with underwater drones in Black Sea - CNN
Ukrainian underwater drones have struck two tankers belonging to Russia’s so-called shadow fleet in the Black Sea, according to an official in Ukraine’s security services (SBU). Ukraine claimed the attacks after explosions hit the two vessels on Friday and Saturday. A Ukrainian security source told CNN that Sea Baby maritime drones had been used in a joint operation by the SBU and the navy. There was no immediate comment from Russia.
Both tankers sustained critical damage, the source said, and were effectively taken out of service. “This will deal a significant blow to the transportation of Russian oil.”
Russia uses hundreds of tankers – many sailing under different flags of convenience – to ship its oil to customers in defiance of sanctions. (Read more)

4. Palestinian Islamic Jihad Said to Be Expanding Military Presence in Syria With Government’s Knowledge - Algemeiner
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terrorist group is reportedly expanding its military presence in Syria, a move that could put the Syrian government in violation of US conditions for restoring full diplomatic ties and lifting additional economic sanctions.
According to Israeli public broadcaster Kan News, PIJ has expanded its military wing — the al-Quds Brigades — within Syria in recent weeks, notably increasing activity in Palestinian refugee camps near Damascus, apparently with the full knowledge of the Syrian government.
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is said to have appointed an envoy to oversee PIJ’s activities in the country, responsible for facilitating communications between the Palestinian terrorist group and the government, Kan reported.
However, a government security source denied such accusations, saying there is “no intention to allow military operations against Israel,” which borders Syria.
PIJ also denied reports of intensified activity in Syria, saying they are entirely fabricated and intended to provoke hostility against the Palestinian people and their refugee camps. (Read more)

5. Israeli elections 2026: Meet the parliament - JNS.org
As elections approach, Yesh Atid Knesset member Simon Davidson said his party is focused on “Fighting the [haredi] draft-dodging law, fighting for a non-partisan National Commission of Inquiry [into the Hamas-led Oct. 7 invasion], fighting corruption, and we will launch the greatest war against the rising cost of living, while ensuring the security of the State of Israel.”
“The most stolen product from supermarkets in Israel is baby formula. Everything is rising to extreme levels. This week, the cost of bus transport will climb to 9 shekels ($2.75). A year and a half ago, it was 5.60 shekels ($1.71),” he said.
“Israelis who need to get to the hospital, the market or the cemetery use the bus to get there. Everywhere in the world, buses are heavily subsidized. If the price of a bus ticket had risen even by 10 centimes in France, the country would shut down with protests,” Davidson added.
“We ran surveys and found that the cost of living is one of the two key issues that will be decisive in the next elections, along with national security,” he said. (Read more)

We know that this shooter who shot our National Guardsmen in D.C. the day before Thanksgiving, he was radicalized. You’re going to hear a lot more about that. The Place
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, December 1, 2025
Jacob’s journey in Genesis 28:10-32:2, “Vayetze,” (And he went) opens with tension and uncertainty. After securing the blessing of the firstborn through deception, Jacob becomes the target of his brother Esau’s vengeance and flees toward his mother’s relatives in Haran. On the way, exhaustion drops him into sleep at a specific place, Ha Maquom. He sees a ladder rising from earth to heaven, angels moving along it, and the God of Abraham and Isaac reaffirming the covenant. Jacob wakes in awe, realizing he has unknowingly laid his head on holy ground. He sets up a stone pillar, names the place Bethel, and vows loyalty to the LORD. This dream is foundational to our personal salvation. Here’s why.
God began shaping Jacob into the bearer of the promise. When Jacob reaches Haran, he steps into another storm, this time of rivalry and deceit. He labors seven years for Rachel, only to be tricked by her father Laban and given Leah. Another seven years secure Rachel, but the sisters quickly enter a competitive struggle that spills into the giving of their maidservants. Jacob fathers eleven sons in a swirl of tension and complexity. Despite the chaos, God prospers Jacob, protecting him and increasing his household. When Jacob finally leaves, Laban pursues in anger, but God stops him before harm is done. The two men make a covenant of peace, closing a long chapter of conflict. Jacob then returns toward the land of promise, greeted by the angels of God, a sign that the same divine presence guiding him at Bethel still goes before him. Read More

Mamdani-appointed NYC professor who wrote book on ending policing now tasked with shaping community safety
|
|
|
|
Alex Vitale authored 'The End of Policing' and has called to abolish various law enforcement agencies on social media
|
|
|
A sociology professor at Brooklyn College appointed to New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani's transition team wrote a book about ending policing.
"I'm excited to announce that I have been asked to join the Mamdani Transition Team to work on community safety issues. A New Era for NYC," Alex Vitale said on X.
Vitale is the author of "The End of Policing," published in 2017. The book, which opens by explaining that police don't exist to help citizens, argues for an end to traditional policing for certain criminal activity, including narcotics use, prostitution, patrolling borders and "misbehaving adolescents." The book also argues that police shouldn't combat street gangs.
On ending gang units, Vitale argues that they are racist.
"In most cities, gang units function as a mechanism for racialized social control," the book says in chapter five. "Black and Latino youth are labeled as gang members for hanging out together, while white youth groups are dismissed as harmless."
Policing borders is also racist, according to the author.
"The expansion of Border Patrol powers has been justified through fear and racism. It legitimizes xenophobic narratives that define immigrants as threats rather than as fellow workers or neighbors," the book says in chapter six. (Fox News) Read more here.
|
|
Lord God, this man's position on the nature and role of policing is unbelievable! As he works with the mayor, we see the blind leading the blind.
Lord God, as Christians, we do not ask for harm for anyone, but in this case, we do ask that, in Mr. Vitale's personal life, something would happen to him or to his family that would serve as a "wake up call" to the impact of his teaching. Let him come to his senses quickly md repent before he or any other citizens of the great city of New York comes to harm. In Your Name, amen and amen.

White House Confident in Economic Growth as Black Friday Spending Rises
|
|
|
|
The White House is more confident that the U.S. economy will grow in 2026 after spending around Thanksgiving and Black Friday rose, White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett said on Sunday.
Hassett, who is head of the National Economic Council, said in an interview with CBS News’s “Face the Nation” that there was about a 10 percent increase in online sales on Black Friday, compared with the annual shopping day last year.
“I think the folks who were saying, ‘Wow, maybe people are going to be anxious about going back and getting presents for the kids’ and so on, they have been disproven this weekend,” he told CBS.
Hassett also told the outlet that stronger spending around Thanksgiving suggests that the U.S. economy is more resilient than previously thought following a weekslong government shutdown that ended in mid-November.
“I think the reason is that ... incomes are up this year. We had a great jobs report, and with strong income and the government shutdown over, so that people have pent-up demand as well, I think that we’re looking at a great recovery from a weak few weeks because of the shutdown,” he said. Archaeologists find artifacts older than Stonehenge beneath Britain's Houses of Parliament: 'Incredibly rare'
|
|
|
Flint fragments dating to 4300 BC discovered during Palace of Westminster restoration excavations
Archaeologists digging beneath the Palace of Westminster recently unearthed priceless historic treasures – some of which even predate Stonehenge.
In a Nov. 19 announcement, the Houses of Parliament Restoration and Renewal Delivery Authority said it had discovered relics ranging from Mesolithic flint chips to 19th-century artifacts.
The excavations were part of a three-year investigation aimed at shaping the Palace's upcoming restoration work.
The Palace of Westminster, also called the Houses of Parliament, was first used as a royal residence in the 11th century. Its oldest surviving structure is Westminster Hall, built in 1097 for William II.
The earliest remains found during the excavation were 60 flint fragments produced during toolmaking, likely dating back to 4300 BC. The flint flakes predate Stonehenge, which began construction in 3100 BC.
The prehistoric remains were once part of Thorney Island, a sandy area near the River Thames that eventually became the heart of medieval Westminster.
"The flints were found in undisturbed sand deposits that once formed part of Thorney Island, an area where prehistoric communities are thought to have fished, hunted and gathered food," the Restoration and Renewal Delivery Authority said in its announcement.
"These rare finds offer a glimpse into early human life in what is now central London."
