Education Secretary’s Patriotic Education Push
|

The U.S. Department of Education has launched a nationwide initiative aimed at restoring patriotism, civics instruction, and respect for national symbols in K-12 classrooms as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary this July. Education Secretary Linda McMahon unveiled the “History Rocks” tour and related efforts to reinvigorate love of country among students, citing concerns that patriotic education has declined in U.S. schools.
McMahon appeared on FOX Business discussing the new tour, which will visit schools in all 50 states to promote civics, American history, and pride in the flag. She argued many districts have shifted away from traditional teachings about the Constitution and national identity, and that rebuilding that foundation is vital for unity and citizenship.
The initiative, scheduled through early 2026, coincides with President Trump’s America 250 celebration — a broader federal effort marking the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding on July 4. The Department is also prioritizing patriotic education in its grant making, encouraging programs that emphasize civics, history, and national values in classrooms nationwide.
McMahon and the administration’s strategy come amid broader moves to strengthen civics education. In 2025, the Education Department partnered with more than 40 organizations in an America 250 Civics Education Coalition, bringing together conservative groups including Hillsdale College, PragerU, and Turning Point USA to develop programming around patriotism and founding principles. US sets new preconditions for Iran talks as protests rage
|

The US is expected to present Iran with preconditions as a requirement for entering talks, including an end to the use of live fire to suppress protests, immediate readiness to hand over enriched uranium, and the termination of its long-range missile project.

A diplomatic source who outlined the demands told Israel Hayom that the Iranian request was conveyed both by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to US envoy Steve Witkoff and through Oman, which mediated the previous round of talks. According to the source, discussions within the US administration are now focused on how to intervene in developments inside Iran, not on whether to intervene. The range of options is broad, with the initial steps expected to be economic. These would include far more sweeping sanctions and an effort to almost completely shut down Iran's oil exports and its imports of refined fuel.
According to a US source, a decision on the nature of the response is expected within 48 hours, meaning by Tuesday, following consultations and an assessment of the potential consequences of each course of action.
Another diplomatic source told Israel Hayom that the regime is fighting for its survival and is expected to intensify its measures against the protesters. "There are already thousands of civilian deaths and thousands more detainees, but the protests are not stopping," the source claimed. The source added that while the threat to the regime is tangible, its collapse is not expected within days.
The source also said that senior figures in the regime are already exploring options for political asylum in friendly countries such as Russia and even Qatar. "In any case, this will not be the same regime as two weeks ago. Even if it survives, it will be weakened, and the sanctions expected to be imposed on it will reduce its ability to operate, both domestically in Iran and in its ties with the terrorist organizations it supports." We pray for the tyranny to be broken over this nation and that the people are able to stand up to the government and work for their freedom. We also pray that the leadership, police forces and IRGC all lose power and their stranglehold on the nation would collapse, in Jesus's name.

US urges citizens to leave Iran
amid escalating unrest

IDF says it is on high alert, prepared for surprise scenarios, but stresses Iran’s protests are an internal matter and urges the public not to spread rumors.

The Trump administration on Monday issued an urgent warning for U.S. citizens to leave Iran immediately, as protests in the country continue to intensify.
The virtual U.S. Embassy for Iran instructed Americans to “leave Iran now” and develop exit plans that do not depend on government assistance.
Officials warned demonstrations are escalating and could turn violent, leading to arrests and injuries, and said that “U.S. nationals are at significant risk of questioning, arrest and detention.”
“Increased security measures, road closures, public transportation disruptions and internet blockages are ongoing,” the security alert reads, adding that “the Government of Iran has restricted access to mobile, landline and national internet networks.”
According to the statement, “U.S. citizens should expect continued internet outages, plan alternative means of communication and, if safe to do so, consider departing Iran by land to Armenia or Türkiye.”
The United States maintains no diplomatic presence in Iran and cannot provide consular services there.
The U.S. State Department has classified the Islamic Republic of Iran as a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” destination, warning Americans of extreme risks including terrorism, unrest, kidnapping, arbitrary arrest and wrongful detention.
French media outlets reported on Monday that France has withdrawn nonessential diplomatic staff from its embassy in Tehran amid heightened regional tensions. Le Figaro and Libération cited informed sources confirming the move, which comes as Western governments reassess their presence in Iran following growing security concerns. Trump to Meet Venezuelan Opposition Leader Machado as US Oversees Transition

President Donald Trump will meet Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado in Washington on Thursday, as questions mount over Venezuela’s political future following the U.S. capture of former leader Nicolás Maduro.
A White House official told The Epoch Times that the Trump–Machado meeting is scheduled for Jan. 15.
Trump was asked by reporters aboard Air Force One on Jan. 11 about his meeting with Machado, after telling Fox News last week that a meeting was being arranged.
The meeting would be Trump’s first in-person encounter with the 58-year-old opposition figure, who said last week that she had not spoken with the U.S. president since she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize at the end of 2025.
The prospect of talks with Machado gained momentum following the U.S. operation that captured Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and exfiltrated them to the United States to face narcoterrorism charges. Maduro and Flores have pleaded not guilty.
Venezuela is currently being led by acting leader Delcy Rodríguez, who previously served as deputy to Maduro and was sworn in after Maduro’s capture left the presidency vacant.
Trump also said on Jan. 3 that the United States would effectively oversee Venezuela during an interim period ahead of a peaceful transition of power. (The Epoch TImes) Read more here.

Minnesota sues federal government to try to end deployment of immigration agents
|
|
|
Officials in Minnesota are suing the federal government to stop the deployment of thousands of immigration agents to Minnesota, the state's top prosecutor said Monday.
"We allege that the obvious targeting of Minnesota for our diversity, for our democracy and our differences of opinion with the federal government is a violation of the Constitution and of federal law," Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said at a news conference.
Calling the deployment a federal "invasion of the Twin Cities," he said: "This has to stop."
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Minnesota, includes the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul as plaintiffs and names officials with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection as defendants.
In a statement, DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin accused Ellison of "prioritizing politics over public safety" and said he and other "sanctuary politicians" were the reason the department had to surge immigration agents to the state.
"President Trump’s job is to protect the American people and enforce the law — no matter who your mayor, governor, or state attorney general is," she said.
A White House spokeswoman said in a separate statement, "This pathetic stunt only proves that Democrats will put illegal criminals over hardworking Americans every time." (NBC News) Read more here.

Mighty God, we ask You to intervene in the swamp that Minnesota has become. There are a range of elements that contribute to the current troubles running in their streets, but we pray for this government to stop broadcasting support for criminal behavior. We stand against Islam seeking to overthrow righteousness, we stand against encouragement for law-breakers and we stand for the presence of Almighty God to flow into this state, in Jesus's name. We pray and ask You Abba, to fill Your children there with courage, wisdom and determination to come to You on behalf of their state and intercede for Your hand of deliverance and we join our prayers with theirs, in Jesus's holy name.

Students for Life report finds massive uptick in Christian colleges' support for abortion, Planned Parenthood

Students for Life report graded 725 schools, with Duke University and Southern Methodist among failing institutions

EXCLUSIVE: Support for abortion among Christian colleges in the United States has skyrocketed since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, according to a new report by Students for Life of America’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement (IPA).
IPA identified 725 Christian schools, defined as "an institution of higher education affiliated with a Christ-centered denomination and publicly claiming historical Christian faith in its founding," and combed through the colleges' websites for references to abortion found that one in seven is connected to the abortion industry. Information for the report was gathered during the 2024-2025 academic year.
The report tallied "infractions" by the Christian schools, defined as "a relationship with Planned Parenthood or another abortion industry entity." It found that in the immediate wake of the Supreme Court's landmark reversal, abortion support on college campuses increased by nearly 20%. Since 2024, that number has increased to 38%.
Overall, more than 26% of the infractions by Christian schools stemmed from referring to abortion mill Planned Parenthood as a "health resource."(NBC News) Read more here.

1. Netanyahu convenes Israel's security cabinet on Gaza ceasefire's Phase II

The Security Cabinet met on Tuesday evening to discuss Phase II of the Gazapeace plan.
The discussion comes amid ongoing protests in Iran, which may affect the security implications of advancing the deal's progress.
Israel has repeatedly insisted that Hamas terrorists disarm and return the remains of the final hostage, St.-Sgt.-Maj. Ran Gvili, before Phase II can begin.

2. IDF impersonators rob Hebron stores, 3 arrested - Israel Hayom
Security forces responded Tuesday to reports of suspects impersonating IDF soldiers and robbing stores in the Hebron region.
Various video footage shows the suspects entering a gold shop in Hebron while armed, robbing the establishment as they threatened bystanders with drawn weapons.
Three suspects were captured after a chase, and authorities are interrogating them to determine their level of involvement and to investigate whether others participated in the operation. The IDF continues to conduct a manhunt for additional suspects and has clarified that these individuals are not soldiers. (Read more)

3. Foreign Ministry severs Jerusalem’s ties with 7 UN agencies, citing anti-Israel bias - Times of Israel
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announces his decision to withdraw Israel from several United Nations agencies and associated organizations for reasons ranging from their alleged anti-Israel bias to “ineffective bureaucracy.”
The agencies Israel is withdrawing from, effective immediately, are the: Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict; UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women); UN Conference on Trade and Development; UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia; UN Alliance of Civilizations; UN Energy; and Global Forum on Migration and Development.
In a statement announcing the move, the Foreign Ministry says it is ceasing cooperation with the Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict after it added the IDF to a “blacklist” in its annual report on children in armed conflict, along with Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. 4. IDF unveils ‘Olim Al Bet’ program for fast-track immigrant reserve enlistment - Jerusalem Post
The IDF has launched a national initiative aimed at integrating skilled immigrants into the military reserves through a shortened enlistment process, the army announced this week.
The program, titled “Olim Al Bet,” is a joint initiative between the Manpower Directorate and the Aliyah and Integration Ministry. It allows eligible olim aged 26 and older to complete a condensed basic training course of approximately two weeks before being assigned to active reserve units.
According to the IDF, the initiative was developed in response to operational needs and growing demand among immigrants who arrived in Israel at an older age and were previously unable to enlist through standard tracks. (Read more)

5. Syrian Druze appeal: 'We want Israel to control southern Syria'

A Druze resident of Mount Bashan in southern Syria posted a video in which he appealed to the public in Israel, thanking them, calling for partnership, and demanding a change in the security reality in the region.
He claimed to represent "95% of the residents of Suwayda and Mount Bashan."

1. Coalition of 207 women lawmakers files amicus brief in support of protecting female athletes for SCOTUS review - Fox News
More than 200 women lawmakers have signed an amicus brief backing the legal defense to "save women's sports" ahead of next week's Supreme Court oral arguments for two cases related to the issue.
The brief features the signatures of exactly 207 lawmakers, with Idaho state Rep. Barbara Ehardt being the lead amica.
All of the signees are Republicans, as almost all Democrat lawmakers across the nation have remained firmly in support of allowing biological males to compete in girls' and women's sports.
The brief argues, "since the existence of separate women’s sports programs is justified by biological differences between women and men, there are exceedingly persuasive reasons to determine eligibility for such programs using biological criteria rather than a person’s sense of gender."
Supreme Court justices will hear arguments Tuesday in a pair of cases from West Virginia and Idaho, where trans athlete plaintiffs previously successfully challenged those states' laws to keep males out of women's and girls' sports. (Read more)

We pray for deliverance for the boys and all who are in bondage to and indoctrinated by this very sick ideology. 2. Yes, Renee Good’s Actions Meet the Legal Definition of Domestic Terrorism - PJ Media
On Meet the Press, host Kristen Welker tried to press Border Czar Tom Homan over the Trump administration’s blunt language following the Minneapolis ICE shooting, but he ended up schooling her as to why Renee Good’s actions can be described as domestic terrorism under the law.
When Welker pressed Homan directly on whether Good herself was a domestic terrorist, Homan made the distinction Welker seemed determined to blur. “I can’t say that,” he said, emphasizing that cases are evaluated individually. He then walked Welker through the legal standard she appeared unfamiliar with. “But, you know, if you look up the definition of terrorism, is there violence, is there a threat of violence based on an ideology that wants to change the way the government does what we do? Look on the definition of terrorism.”
Welker kept pushing for a yes-or-no verdict on Noem’s statement. Homan refused to speculate about evidence he had not seen, while making the legal point unmistakably clear. “I can tell you what they did is illegal,” he said. “And if you look up this definition of terrorism, it could fall within that definition, if you look up the definition of terrorism.”
Welker, of course, insisted there was no evidence, and Homan didn’t let her get away with it.
“So I think we all have got to agree there’s no reason for this lady to do what she did,” he said. “If you want to protest, protest. But don’t actively impede and interfere. And certainly, don’t drive a 4,000-pound vehicle toward an officer.” (Read more)

We pray for Your wisdom to continue to pour through him and Kristi Noem as well as all others who are on the receiving end of such venom from our society, in Jesus's name. 4. Breaking: Thousands of Somalis Forced to Leave the US as Trump Admin Ends Temporary Protected Status - Western Journal
The Trump administration is ending Temporary Protected Status for Somalians in the United States. TPS allows individuals from a country where war or other forms of unrest are taking place to remain in the United States when they would not be eligible to be admitted through other immigration programs.
The Department of Homeland Security said TPS for the group ends March 17. “Temporary means temporary,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said, according to Fox News. “Country conditions in Somalia have improved to the point that it no longer meets the law’s requirement for Temporary Protected Status.” (Read more)

Thank You Jesus for revealing this strategy for removing many people who have been sitting in our country, without contributing to or becoming a part of it. We renounce their affiliation with Somalian terrorists from our soil and pray for every alliance to be broken and removed off this nation, in Jesus's name. We pray for these people to hear the full gospel message and the love of Jesus Christ so that they might be saved. We also pray for them to be able to build their war-torn and ravaged nation into a civilized, livable society, in Jesus's name.

5. Air Force Sergeant Ordered to Remove 'Jesus Is My King' Flag From Residence - CBN.com
According to the letter, Durrant and his family moved into their residence on Malmstrom Air Force Base in 2023. Shortly after moving in, he noticed his neighbors displayed a wide variety of flags outside their homes. Some flags represented college and professional sports teams, a state, foreign nations, seasons of the year, support for law enforcement, and "straight ally" LGBTQ pride.
Durrant first decided to hang "a hybrid US-Israel flag." While that flag was on display, he never received any notice of lease violation from Balfour Beatty, the housing management group on the base.
Then, in the middle of last year, Durrant removed that flag and replaced it with a flag displaying the words, "Jesus is my King, Trump is my President."
In September, a Balfour Beatty employee contacted Durrant by phone, ordering him to remove his "Jesus is my King" flag from his property, stating that it violated "all sorts of policies," First Liberty outlines. (Read more here)

Thank You Jesus for this matter to be occurring now in order to root out anti-Christian bias in the leadership of this military base and housing community. Our 1st Amendment freedoms are worth fighting for and we don't always know they are at risk until we stand up for them. We bless and pray for victory for this Sergeant and First Liberty Institute as they boldly confront the hostilities and push for the justice system to follow our Constitution and the laws of the land, in Jesus's name.

Artificial intelligence continues to dominate Americans’ lives, with new technologies transforming the way people interact with brands, the internet — and one another.
Nick Skytland, a vice president at Gloo, a faith-based AI company, recently explained the impact of artificial intelligence and why his organization is on a mission to investigate how it contends with the Christian worldview.
Gloo recently launched its Flourishing AI effort, a project to research benchmarks surrounding how faith is perpetuated and handled in the AI space.
Skytland argues mainstream AI models default to generic or secular advice rather than biblical or Christian guidance, even when faith-based prompts are given. (Read more)

Father, we know that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a conglomeration of everything found on the internet and we know that most of what is found there was not generated from a biblical worldview or morality. Therefore, we pray for the body of Christ to put on their armor and step into this fray to inculcate AI with righteousness and a biblical perspective, in Jesus's name. We pray also that believers who use Google to learn about the scriptures would be very discerning to determine the framework of its responses. We pray for harnesses and boundaries to be established around the AI and robots in order to maintain humanity at the apex of its hierarchy, in Jesus's holy, righteous name. Amen.

The Minnesota welfare scandal has blown open a door many Americans long suspected existed but could never quite document. Billions in taxpayer dollars, intended to feed children and stabilize families, were siphoned through shell nonprofits, padded contracts, and politically connected intermediaries operating with little fear of consequence. The sheer scale of the fraud is alarming, but the deeper concern is how long it was tolerated despite repeated warnings. This was not a clerical mistake or a momentary lapse in oversight. It reflects a governing culture that increasingly treats public funds as instruments of power and patronage rather than a sacred trust owed to citizens, especially the most vulnerable.
In his Washington Times column “Minnesota welfare scandal exposes Democrats’ kleptocratic ways,” Robert Knight demonstrates that the fraud uncovered is not an aberration but the predictable outcome of the modern Democratic Party cartel. He writes, “This isn’t just about illegal immigration or astronomical government fraud. It’s about both. Many Americans are furious that they are not only losing their country to an alien culture because of one political party’s greed for power but they are also paying for it with their tax dollars. Trump Says Countries Doing Business With Iran Will Pay 25 Percent Tariff

President Donald Trump announced on Jan. 12 that countries trading with Iran will face a 25 percent tariff.
The announcement comes as the Islamic Republic’s regime grapples with some of the most significant protests since it took over the secular monarchy of the shah in 1979.
“Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25 percent on any and all business being done with the United States of America,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social in the late afternoon. “This Order is final and conclusive.”
The president did not provide other details on the executive order. No order related to Iran-linked tariffs had been released by the White House as of the evening of Jan. 12.
The comment from Trump comes just hours after the White House signaled that the administration could consider airstrikes or other measures against Iran.
Although airstrikes are one of many alternatives open to Trump, “diplomacy is always the first option for the president,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Jan. 12.
What you’re hearing publicly from the Iranian regime is quite different from the messages the administration is receiving privately, and I think the president has an interest in exploring those messages,” she said.
Trump said on Jan. 11 that Iranian officials had reached out to the White House about a potential nuclear deal.
“We may meet with them. A meeting is being set up, but we may have to act because of what’s happening,” he told reporters on Air Force One, adding that “very strong options” are possible with regard to supporting the protests in Iran.
Iranian officials warned that Tehran would target U.S. military bases in the Middle East if an attack were launched. Trump warned that it could provide a significant response. (The Epoch TImes) Read more here.

As these escalations occur, Lord, we cry out for wisdom and discernment now more than ever for our leaders, that you’re directing and guiding every step according to your will, in Jesus' name, amen.

Lord, we ask that you would fill all the citizens of Iran with wisdom and strength on how to deal with these tough situations. We pray for our leaders that they would have an increase of wisdom and discernment to know how to tackle these issues and remind them of their duty to serve their citizens and what’s best for them.

No one is better than President Donald Trump at putting maximum pressure on Iran. As protests against the repressive, murderous regime continue, Trump is talking about military options as another means of adding to the dilemmas for Iran’s government. "Locked and loaded," Trump wrote on Truth Social on Jan. 2, as the protests by the Iranian people ramped up.
The U.S. military always has a list of target options when it comes to Iran. Operation Midnight Hammer took out just a specific set of nuclear enrichment and weapons design facilities in order to obliterate Iran’s ability to race to a bomb. But the B-2 strike of June 22, 2025, did not go after Iran’s underground sites hiding missiles, launchers and fuel production.
One act by Iran would bring on strikes for sure: Trump on Sunday said he would "hit them at levels that they’ve never been hit before" if American forces are targeted. This is an important red line. Remember Iran struck out at U.S. forces at Al Udeid Air Base in Doha, Qatar, back on June 23, 2025 and previously hit U.S. forces at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq on Jan. 8, 2020.

Mysterious pink skies amid England snowfall linked to soccer stadiums

Jan. 9 (UPI) -- Residents of England's West Midlands saw the sky illuminated in a mysterious pink hue amid a snow storm -- and the cause turned out to be soccer-related.
Locals in areas including Birmingham, Hednesford, Small Heath and Bordesley Green reported the sky glowing pink during Thursday evening's snowfall, and the cause turned out to be LED lights set up to help grass grow at soccer stadiums.
"Seems the 'northern lights' over Hednesford were a bit closer to home than we all thought," Hednesford Town Football Club said on social media. "That pink glow in the sky was in fact our LED pitch lights helping the grass grow and recover, keeping us ready to chase three points, not the aurora. Who knew a bit of pitch care could create so much interest!"
Grahame Madge, a spokesman for England's Met Office, explained the lights are the perfect color to end up amplified by the snow storm.
"The blue wavelengths of light are more easily scattered by snow or water droplets allowing the longer wavelengths -- such as red and orange -- to get through," he said in a statement provided to ITV News. "This can have the effect of turning colors more pink or orange." (UPI) Read More
