Warriors Battle retreats offer new life to veterans, first responders
|
|
USA (MNN) — Military veterans and first responders face battles long after their time in uniform — PTSD, suicidal thoughts, broken relationships, and a lack of purpose. Warriors Set Free, a ministry under Set Free Ministries, helps men confront those struggles with brotherhood and biblical truth. Their signature event, the Warriors Battle, is a three-day, camp-style retreat aimed at helping men confront the past and walk in biblical freedom. Steve Prince, director of Warriors Set Free, says, “We’re training them up to win life’s battles. The war has been won. Jesus has conquered everything — but we have battles to fight to live this life victoriously.”
The ministry welcomes veterans, first responders, and even civilians—if they bring a veteran with them. The retreat follows an acronym called TRIP: truth, relationships, identity, and purpose. “We teach biblical principles to overcome suicidal thoughts [and] PTSD symptoms,” says Prince. “We have them tell their story, apply biblical principles of confess, repent, forgive, and we get to watch God help them unpack the pain from their past.” The retreat’s impact is often immediate. “We have wives who are shocked when their husbands come home and they notice the difference from day one,” Prince says. “We encourage the guys, ‘Don’t go home and tell your wife that you’re different. Live it out, be present, love your wife, spend time, serve.’” One man told Prince he wouldn’t have made it to his 25th anniversary without what he learned through Warriors Set Free. Ted Cruz Introduces Bill to Change Rules for Military Flights Near Airports After Deadly Midair Collision

|
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) debuted a bill on July 29 that would make changes to the way the Pentagon uses helicopters around busy airports, as well as prevent the Army from disengaging a critical location-transmitting technology that was inactive on the Black Hawk helicopter involved in January’s deadly midair collision near Washington.
Cruz unveiled the new legislation at a press conference one day before the beginning of a three-day National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) fact-finding hearing into the midair collision between a commercial airplane and an Army Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Jan. 29.
The NTSB—an independent agency that investigates transportation accidents—is probing the incident, which killed all 67 people on board the two aircraft.
Cruz’s bill would mandate the use of a location-transmitting technology called ADS-B Out, which was not active on the helicopter ahead of the collision. Whether the crew had intentionally switched off the technology, which notifies air traffic control of the aircraft’s location, altitude, and speed, or if it was no longer operational, is part of the NTSB’s investigation.
While the agency has already released a preliminary report into the disaster, its final report is not expected until next year.
“We should not tolerate special exceptions for military training flights operating in congested airspace, no matter the circumstances. Any aircraft flying near commercial traffic must fully adhere to safety standards,” Cruz said during a Tuesday press conference unveiling the bill. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

We ask for more limited access for aircraft within any crowded airspace, especially around airports. We ask Holy Spirit to send out angels to guide, direct and protect all aircraft moving on the ground or in flight, give pilots, co-pilots, and air traffic controllers wisdom, knowledge and insight far beyond their natural abilities when managing all the "moving parts" in airspace that is their responsibility. New York City Shooter Left Note Blaming NFL for Brain Injury, NYC Mayor Says
|

|
The suspect accused of killing four people in a Manhattan high-rise building on July 28 allegedly left a note behind that appeared to blame the NFL for a brain injury, according to New York City Mayor Eric Adams on July 29.
The alleged attacker, 27-year-old Shane Tamura of Las Vegas, committed suicide by shooting himself after he allegedly opened fire at the 345 Park Avenue building that houses the NFL’s headquarters, along with other businesses.
During an interview on CBS News, Adams was asked about a possible motive in the shooting. The mayor said a note was allegedly found stating that the shooter felt that he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a brain injury more commonly known as CTE that some football players have been known to develop.
“He was not an NFL player,” Adams told PIX11. “It appears as though he was blaming the NFL for his CTE ... and he shot himself and took his own life. Shot himself in the chest. It appears to have been that he wanted to preserve his brain for reasons of research.”
Adams said the preliminary investigation shows that the gunman took the wrong elevator bank and, instead of getting off at NFL headquarters, ended up at Rudin Management, which owns 345 Park Avenue.
When he went up the different elevator, “that is where he carried out additional shootings and took the lives of additional employees,” Adams said during the “CBS Mornings” interview.
One of the four victims slain in the gun violence was a 36-year-old New York City Police Department officer, Didarul Islam, who immigrated to the United States from Bangladesh, Adams said at a July 28 press conference.
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said Tamura allegedly had a history of mental illness and had driven cross-country to New York City in recent days. The gunman was believed to have acted alone. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Huge quake off Russia sparks Pacific tsunamis
|

|
One of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded struck Russia’s sparsely populated Far East on Wednesday, causing tsunamis up to four metres (12 feet) high across the Pacific and sparking evacuations from Hawaii to Japan.
The magnitude 8.8 quake struck off Petropavlovsk on Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula, and was the largest since 2011 when one of magnitude 9.1 off Japan caused a tsunami that killed more than 15,000 people.
Almost two million people in Japan were told to head to higher ground and tsunami warnings were issued across the region, before being rescinded or downgraded — though scientists warned of the danger of powerful aftershocks.
A tsunami had already hit and flooded the port town of Severo-Kurilsk, crashing through the port area and submerging the local fishing plant, officials said. Russian state television footage showed it sweep buildings and debris into the sea.
Authorities said the population of around 2,000 people had been evacuated.
The waves reached as far as the town’s World War II monument about 400 metres from the shoreline, said Mayor Alexander Ovsyannikov.
“The walls were shaking,” a Kamchatka resident told state media Zvezda. “It’s good that we packed a suitcase, there was one with water and clothes near the door. We quickly grabbed it and ran out… It was very scary,” she said.
Officials from countries with a Pacific coastline in North and South America — including the United States, Mexico, Ecuador and Colombia — issued warnings to avoid threatened beaches and low-lying areas. (Breitbart) Read more here.

Thailand, Cambodia Declare Ceasefire in Border Conflict after Trump Intervenes
|

|
Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to “an immediate and unconditional ceasefire with effect from midnight tonight,” Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced on Monday. Deadly clashes broke out on Thursday along the disputed border between the southeast Asian neighbors, and it only ended after both the U.S. and China brought pressure to bear. While the conflict underscores the reality that the world is growing increasingly dangerous, the speedy solution suggests strong U.S. leadership can effectively act to keep the peace.
It’s unclear which side started the fighting that has killed 38 people and caused hundreds of thousands of civilians to flee. Both sides blame each other for starting the fighting and escalating it (Thailand has launched airstrikes, while Cambodia has fired rockets).
Sadly, the fatal conflict has no better reason than pagan idolatry. Thailand and Cambodia dispute control over Preah Vihear, a Hindu temple dating from the Khmer empire in the 11th century, as well as other Hindu and Buddhist sites along the 508-mile-long border. The religious sites have inspired nationalistic passions in both countries, meaning that neither government has domestic permission to back down.
Trump was quick to take credit for the ceasefire. “I have now ended many Wars in just six months — I am proud to be the president of PEACE!” he announced on Truth Social.
“That was going to be a very bad war, and so we’re honored we got involved. It’s essentially settled,” he told reporters in Scotland. “That could’ve gone on for years. Millions of people could’ve been killed. We ended the war — and we’re very happy about it.”
“The United States applauds the ceasefire declaration between Cambodia and Thailand announced today in Kuala Lumpur,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio added Monday. “President Trump and I are committed to an immediate cessation of violence and expect the governments of Cambodia and Thailand to fully honor their commitments to end this conflict.” (The Washington Stand) Read more here.

1. Putin discusses Syria and Iran in phone call with Netanyahu - Times of Israel
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, the Kremlin said, to discuss various developments in the Middle East, including recent sectarian violence in Syria and Iran’s nuclear program.
During the call, Putin stressed Syria’s territorial integrity, the Kremlin said, after sectarian violence in the Druze majority city of Sweida earlier this month prompted Israeli intervention in the form of airstrikes against Syrian military targets in both Sweida and Damascus.
Clashes in the Druze-majority Sweida province, which began on July 13 and ended with a ceasefire a week later, initially involved Druze fighters and Sunni Bedouin tribes, but quickly widened with the intervention of government forces on behalf of the Bedouin, according to witnesses, experts and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor. 2. Hezbollah Chief Rejects Disarmament Amid US and Lebanese Pressure, Accuses Washington of Aiding Israel - Algemeiner
Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem has once again rejected calls for the Lebanon-based terrorist group to disarm, saying such demands only serve Israel’s interests amid mounting pressure from the United States and the Lebanese government.
“Those who call for us to surrender our weapons are practically asking us to hand them over to Israel. We will not submit to Israel,” Qassem said in a televised speech on Wednesday.
“The US is destroying Lebanon in order to help the Zionist enemy [Israel],” he continued.
Washington and Beirut have engaged in multiple rounds of negotiations in recent weeks over a US proposal to fully disarm the Iran-backed terrorist group, which for years as held significant political power in Lebanon.
The latest proposal calls for Hezbollah to be fully disarmed within four months in exchange for Israel halting airstrikes and withdrawing troops from its five occupied posts in southern Lebanon. (Read more)

“I have just finished an additional consultation on the issue,” he said in a public address to the families on Tuesday night. “There was a meeting yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that as well. Since the return of the delegation from Qatar, we have not stopped trying.”
However, “there is one big obstacle, and everyone knows what it is—Hamas. It is persisting in its refusal,” continued Netanyahu, adding: “President [Donald] Trump said it. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carneyannounced on Wednesday the country's intentions to recognize Palestinian statehood at the 80th session of the United National General Assembly in September.
"This intention is predicated by the Palestinian Authority's commitment to much-needed reforms," Carney said.
He explained that PA's President Mahmoud Abbas plans to reform its government, hold general elections in 2026, in which Hamas can play no part, and to demilitarize the Palestinian state.

The well-preserved clay impression was discovered about three weeks ago by archaeologist Mordechai Ehrlich, on the eve of the Jewish fast of the 17th of Tammuz. A House Democrat is moving to block the Trump administration from being able to use military-grade drones to surveil protests in the U.S. Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif., introduced the bill in response to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reportedly using MQ-9 Reaper drones to monitor the protests in Los Angeles earlier this year.
"The U.S. government should never use military drones to spy on its own people. Not under Trump. Not under anyone," Gomez told Fox News Digital in a statement. "This bill would stop Trump's abuse of power and get these combat drones out of our neighborhoods." (Read more)

2. More than 130 million people brace for sweltering conditions across most of the US - ABC News
More than 200 million people across from South Dakota to Florida and up the East Coast to Boston are on alert for widespread, dangerous heat, and parts of the Southeast could experience the brunt of the sweltering conditions.
On average, nearly 2,000 Americans die from extreme heat each year, according to CDC data going back to 2020.
The highest temperatures will be focused in the southeast, from the Carolinas to Florida, where extreme heat indices -- that is, what the temperatures feel like when humidity is factored in -- are forecast to be between 105 and 115 degrees. (Read more)

3. Wildfires threaten Turkey's fourth-largest city as southern Europe grapples with blazes - Breitbart
Wildfires that have engulfed Turkey for weeks threatened the country’s fourth-largest city this week, forcing more than 1,700 people to flee their homes and leaving a firefighter dead.
Greece, Bulgaria and Montenegro are also battling blazes fed by unusually high temperatures, dry conditions and strong winds.
Overnight fires in the forested mountains surrounding Bursa, in northwest Turkey, spread rapidly, tinting the night sky over the city’s eastern suburbs with a red glow. 4. 90 Democratic States Sue to Fund Welfare For Illegal Aliens - World Israel News
The lawsuit filed to challenge the Trump administration’s ban on federal benefits going to illegal aliens is being billed as an effort to defend children. But it’s actually an admission that much of the welfare system in Democrat states is actually used to provide services to illegal aliens.

5. Mamdani, who wants to defund police, had wedding protected by armed guards - World Israel News
Socialist NYC mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani celebrated his recent nuptials with a lavish, three-day affair at his family’s ritzy, secluded Ugandan compound — complete with masked security guards and a cellphone jamming system.
The gates of the bustling, private compound, which sits in the wealthy Buziga Hill area outside the capital city of Kampala, were heavily guarded by military-style, masked men this week, with guests streaming in and partying until midnight, according to sources in the town who wished to remain anonymous for security reasons.

Stupidocrisy: Rep Frost’s Feigned Immigration Confusion

Congressman Maxwell Frost (D-FL) accused President Trump of trying to “ethnically cleanse” America of certain types of immigrants. That’s a strong claim that’s more like a political slogan than a fact. So, who is being arrested and deported under Trump’s renewed immigration policies? According to both Department of Homeland Security data and Trump’s own words, the answer is violent criminals: gang members, drug traffickers, and sexual predators. Trump told supporters in June he’s going after “the worst of the worst.” ICE’s official press statements echo this—targeting violent offenders not the innocent. Yet, to Democrat officeholders and their media sock puppets every illegal immigrant is innocent.
That’s why when the numbers come in, a more complicated story emerges—one Congressman Frost probably won’t mention in his next soundbite. Immigration data from the media paints a broader—and at times contradictory—picture. AP and CBS analysis from June shows about 72% of current ICE detainees have no criminal conviction. That’s over 27,000 people. Of the rest, many have minor violations—expired visas, unauthorized entry, or low-level traffic offenses. Fewer than 10% are convicted of serious violent crimes. That’s how the media figures it. ICE’s own reports cite 6,800 sexual assaults, 478 homicide charges, and several hundred gang arrests. Yes, those are serious. Trump Finally Reveals 'Inappropriate' Behavior That Got Epstein Banned from
Mar-a-Lago

President Donald Trump revealed Monday what the “inappropriate” behavior the late Jeffry Epstein engaged in that got him kicked out of Mar-a-Lago.
“For years, I wouldn’t talk to Jeffrey Epstein, because he did something that was inappropriate. He hired help … He stole people that worked for me. I said, ‘Don’t ever do that again.’ He did it again, and I threw him out of the place.
“By the way, I never went to the island, and Bill Clinton went there, supposedly 28 times,” he added. “And many other people that are very big people, and nobody ever talks about them.”
“I never had the privilege of going to his island, and I did turn it down. But a lot of people in Palm Beach were invited to his island. In one of my very good moments, I turned it down,” Trump said.
The Daily Mail reported that Virginia Guiffre was a 16-year-old spa attendant working at Mar-a-Lago when she met Ghislaine Maxwell. A jury convicted her in 2021 of child sex trafficking in connection with Epstein.
“Maxwell saw her reading a book about massage therapy and offered her a position as Epstein’s masseuse, Giuffre claimed,” according to the Daily Mail. Giuffre, who was one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers, took her own life in April.
A reporter asked Trump on Tuesday whether Guiffre was one of the employees that Epstein hired away from Mar-a-Lago.
“I think she worked at the spa. I think so. I think that was one of the people. He stole her,” the president said. (The Western Journal) Read more here.

Kamala Harris Makes Final Decision
About What's Next for Her Political Career

Former Vice President Kamala Harris announced Wednesday that she will not be running to succeed Democrat Gavin Newsom as governor of California.
“In recent months, I have given serious thought to asking the people of California for the privilege to serve as their governor,” Harris said in a statement. “I love this state, its people, and its promise. It is my home. But after deep reflection, I’ve decided that I will not run for Governor in this election.”
Declining to run does leave open the possibility of a third presidential run in 2028.

Developing Horror: Elected City Official Set on Fire in Brazen Attack

A sitting city councilman in Virginia was set on fire in a shocking and violent attack on Wednesday. Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler was doused with gasoline and set ablaze inside a local office building, according to multiple reports.
WSET-TV reported the incident occurred at Showcase Magazine, where Vogler is an employee.
The suspect reportedly forced his way inside before launching the assault. According to Showcase Magazine, the attacker carried a five-gallon container of gasoline into the building.
“He poured it over Lee,” said publisher Andrew Brooks. “Lee attempted to flee, ran to the front of the building. The individual followed him and set him on fire.”
The Danville Police Department confirmed officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Main Street around 11:30 a.m. Vogler was found injured and treated at the scene by first responders. His full condition remains unknown.
Danville Vice Mayor James Buckner confirmed that Vogler was airlifted to a burn unit in Chapel Hill. “Please keep our colleague and our brother in your prayers,” Buckner said.
Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes of Danville. Hayes was taken into custody shortly after the attack. His vehicle was stopped as he attempted to flee the area.
The Danville Police Department said the motive behind the crime appears to be personal. “Based on the investigation at the time of this release, the victim and the suspect are known to each other,” DPD stated. “The attack stems from a personal matter not related to the victim’s position on Danville City Council or any other political affiliation.”

Located around 280 miles north of the regional capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Klyuchevskoy is one of the highest volcanoes in the world.
MOSCOW—The Klyuchevskoy volcano on Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula began erupting after Wednesday’s powerful earthquake in the Pacific, a geological monitoring service said.
In a statement posted on Telegram, the Russian Academy of Sciences’ United Geophysical Service said: “A descent of burning hot lava is observed on the western slope. Powerful glow above the volcano, explosions.”
Located around 280 miles north of the regional capital, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Klyuchevskoy is one of the highest volcanoes in the world.
It has erupted several times in recent years.
Scientists have anticipated an eruption, with the volcano’s crater filling with lava for several weeks and the mountain spitting out plumes of ash.
Sometimes described as the “land of fire and ice,” Kamchatka is one of the most active volcanic regions in the world. It has about 300 volcanoes, of which 29 are active, according to NASA Earth Observatory. Read More
