Salute To America 250 Celebration & Fireworks

Every generation gets one moment that they remember for the rest of their lives. In 2026, generations of Americans will look up at the sky and remember the incredible sights of the 250th anniversary. From the first flyby of the Moon since 1972 to July 4, 2026, yet another moment will arrive.

The capstone of America’s 250th anniversary brings hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Washington Monument grounds and surrounding areas for a full day of performances, flyovers, first time aerobatic demonstrations over DC, and a live broadcast evening program—culminating with the largest fireworks display in history.

What to Expect

  • Daytime program with headline musical performances and military flyovers, beginning at 1 PM
  • Evening live broadcast with the Joint Armed Forces Orchestra and national speakers starting at 7 PM
  • 850,000 fireworks shells launched from 10 sites: Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, 8 Potomac River barges, and West Potomac Park 11:30 PM

George Washington's remarkable prayer for America still resonates 250 years later

It is the quintessential imagery of a desperate man, drained of all earthly strength and power, who's come to the end of his own knowledge and wisdom. He takes a knee in humbleness to God.

This is the portrait of then-General George Washington at Valley Forge, praying for guidance when the fight for America's independence seemed lost.  

The iconic painting, "Prayer at Valley Forge," was created 50 years ago by artist Arnold Friberg in honor of America's bicentennial. Now, it's the centerpiece of the Museum of the Bible's exhibit celebrating the nation's 250th anniversary.

Carlos Campo, Ph.D., CEO of the Museum of the Bible, says, "Washington is most powerful on his knees. That's what he knows, because he is bowing to a greater power who can infuse him with true leadership."

The image is a snapshot of "a man carrying a burden that feels too heavy to bear — and the quiet place he goes when everything is on the line." It takes place during the brutal winter of 1777-1778. 

America's founders had already declared a break from Great Britain's rule on July 4, 1776. 

Now, the "fragile army" of colonists needs to fight to secure it. Washington is their leader. But America at this juncture is more a dream than solid reality.

Please find below a message I received this week from President Trump and our First Lady, Melania Trump.

I must admit that I was amazed when I opened the envelope and found this greeting inside!

This card was mailed to me at my home address in Herndon, Virginia . . . and although CHPP was not mentioned on the envelope or in the message, below, I do believe that these words were meant for ALL of us to see. Hence, I now share the President's words with all of you, too, who have been engaged for many years in our amazing prayer network.

For two and a half centuries, the burning flame of liberty lit on July 4, 1776, has been passed down from one generation to the next, and it is patriots like you who have carried it to heights that our Founding Fathers never dreamed. During this historic year, we remain confident that the triumph of the American Spirit will shine brighter than ever before.

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is dedicated to equipping members of the Body of Christ to “pray for those in authority over us” [see I Tim. 2:1-2] in our legislative branch of government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that God’s “will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” [see Matthew 6:10]. In addition, all of our prayers are anchored in Scripture, because it is written that “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” [Isaiah 55:11] 

As we intercede for each of the 435 members of the House of Representatives and the 100 members of the Senate, our heartcry is that our God would touch each heart, drawing them to Himself in salvation. Praise God for his mighty power in the hearts of men! 

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Moreover, because the scriptures indicate that “the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” [James 5:16b], we are confident that fervent prayer offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land will avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us and engage in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: “For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” [Romans 13:1b] 

Finally, we also wish to honor the several other ministries that now stand in the nation’s capital, covering the other two branches of our government. We stand united, as “one tribe,” for it is written that: For the LORD is our Judge, the LORD is our Lawgiver, the LORD is our King; he will save us” [Isaiah 33:22]. In addition, we pray daily “for the peace of Jerusalem” [Ps. 122:6a] and publish news from Israel on our daily reports.
