'Patriot Rabbi':
Jewish Colonial Settlers at the Forefront of America's Freedom Quest

JERUSALEM, Israel – America was founded as a Christian nation. Yet, early on in the country's history, some Jewish settlers came to dwell in the Colonies alongside their Christian neighbors. CBN News talked with Jewish commentator and historian Gil Troy and discovered that the settlers were among the most patriotic of the British colonists fighting to become the first citizens of a free America.
PAUL STRAND: Looking at America's 250th anniversary, we're also looking at Jews in America at that time of the Revolutionary War era, talking to a Jerusalem Post commentator and scholar, and historian, Gil Troy.
In America, I understand there were very few Jews there at the start. Do we have rabbis or spiritual leaders to thank for the fact that that community did manage to thrive and become a real presence in America?
GIL TROY: It was a small community, but it was a very patriotic community, and there was one particular hero, Gershom Mendes Seixas, who was known as the Patriot Rabbi. When he was 23 years old, he was born in 1742, so in 1766 he has the nerve to throw his hat in the ring to lead the synagogue, Sha'arey Yisrael, which today is the Spanish and Portuguese synagogue still existing.
It was founded in 1654. And he beats out older European types. Why? Because they wanted an authentic American voice, an authentic American Jewish voice. And so, on the 250th anniversary of this extraordinary country, the land of possibility I call it, America, we celebrate this connection between the civic, theological, and patriotic dimensions of the American Jewish community and America. Trump Celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary, Denounces Communism

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump spoke before an estimated 150,000 people gathered at the National Mall on the evening of the Fourth of July to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
“We’re celebrating freedom’s triumph over tyranny, liberty’s conquest over oppression, and the enduring victory of the American spirit—from July 4, 1776, to July 4, 2026,” the president said.
Trump said that an estimated 375,000 people had gathered for the Salute to America 250 celebration before organizers issued an evacuation order at about 7 p.m. ahead of a gathering thunderstorm. Many spectators were unable to return for the celebration because of the delays.
Trump insisted that the proceedings continue despite the stormy weather.
At 11 p.m., the celebrations began with American tenor Christopher Macchio’s singing of “Ave Maria” and “Nessun Dorma.” Country music singer Lee Greenwood also performed before introducing the president for his speech.
“For two and a half centuries, our American republic has stood as the crowning achievement of human history,” the president said in his opening remarks.
“This country is the home of freedom, this is the land of liberty, and this is a flag that’s the banner of the most extraordinary, most exceptional, most incredible nation ever to exist on the face of the earth. And we’re doing better now than we’ve ever done before.”
“No people have done more good, shown more courage, made more progress, righted more injustice, or achieved more greatness than you—the American people,” he said. “For 250 years, the United States of America has been the hope, the promise, the light, and the glory among all of the nations of the world. All over the world, they try and be like us. Nobody can be like us. And with God’s help, we will always be this, or even better.”
The president continued with stories of how America’s “forward march of freedom” continues for a nation that today is “stronger, freer, richer, safer, and prouder than ever before.” He said this was only because of the “miracle of history” that was the Declaration of Independence, signed by 56 patriotic delegates from the 13 colonies who “seized a victory for the ages.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Lord, we are grateful for a President who never gives up, whether from opposition by humans who wish him harm or even the weather itself. We thank You for America, for the freedoms we enjoy, and pray that You will stop the march of Communist Democrats who seek to divide and destroy us. We ask for a move of repentance across the entire nation and all of our leaders to bring heart change and a fresh focus.
“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean from all your uncleanness, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. Mamdani the Fraud:
New York Cuts Power During Heat Wave to Bronx Jewish Neighborhood
|

As New York baked under another summer heat wave, parts of the Riverdale neighborhood in the Bronx, home to a large Jewish community, lost power after Con Edison shut off electricity to protect its equipment.
Con Edison announced the outages Thursday, saying it temporarily cut power to some customers in Riverdale to reduce strain on the electrical grid and speed up service restoration. The utility directed affected residents to report outages and seek relief at city cooling centers.
The outages left parts of Riverdale sweating without air conditioning during a dangerous citywide heat wave. The timing also puts intense pressure on Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
The Democratic Socialist ran on promises to protect ordinary New Yorkers, but a neighborhood-wide shutdown like this directly undercuts that message. As the Bronx neighborhood lost power, preparations continued across town for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden.
Earlier Friday, Mamdani urged New Yorkers to set their thermostats to 78 degrees, turn off unused lights and electronics, and reduce electricity use as the city faced high demand during the heatwave. (Breitbart) Read more here.

Federal Judge Blocks Postal Service from Implementing Trump Executive Order on Mail-In Ballots
|
|
A federal judge blocked the United States Postal Service (USPS) from carrying out President Trump’s executive order requiring, in part, USPS to only transmit ballots for states that follow a list of election integrity rules detailed in the order, which includes providing voter rolls — or a list of mail-in voters — for that state.
U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan struck down the order, asserting that “the Proposed Rule violates paragraph 2 of the Agreement because the Postal Service cannot post documents reflecting ‘practices and policies for prioritizing the monitoring and timely delivery of Election Mail’ if its policies provide that it will not accept ‘noncompliant mailing’ and therefore will not deliver mail-in or absentee ballots to some voters, and if it will not mail ballots to any voters in a state where the state ‘declines or fails to certify a list.'”
Over two dozen states have moved to challenge Trump’s original order, formally titled, “ENSURING CITIZENSHIP VERIFICATION AND INTEGRITY IN FEDERAL ELECTIONS.”
The executive order makes clear that voting in federal elections is reserved solely for citizens of the United States.
“The Federal Government has an unavoidable duty under Article II of the Constitution of the United States to enforce Federal law, which includes preventing violations of Federal criminal law and maintaining public confidence in election outcomes,” the order reads, calling for additional measures to “enhance election integrity via the United States Mail.” (Breitbart) Read more here.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz scolded Iran during this week's U.N. Security Council meeting, saying Tehran "will not silence" the body following claims by the Islamic Republic's representative that council members were spreading falsehoods about its recent attack targeting neighboring Gulf states.
"Let me remind you where you are," Waltz told Iranian diplomat Amir Saeid Iravani. "This is the United States of America. This is the United Nations Security Council. You will not silence this body."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected reports Sunday that relations with President Donald Trump have deteriorated over Iran and disputed comments by Vice President JD Vance, saying the United States and Israel remain united in their approach to preventing Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu said speculation about a split between himself and President Trump was unfounded despite ongoing US negotiations with Iran.

2. IDF kills 20 terrorists in Gaza, catches 60 in Judea and Samaria - JNS
The Israel Defense Forces continued to operate on three fronts over the past week, dismantling more than half a mile of an underground tunnel in the Gaza Strip, apprehending more than 60 Palestinian terror suspects in Judea and Samaria, and striking terrorists in Southern Lebanon, the army said on Saturday.
In addition to the tunnel destroyed in Gaza, the IDF’s Southern Command has concentrated efforts to dismantle additional terror infrastructure sites in the Khan Yunis area in the southern part of the Strip, the IDF said.
Israeli forces targeted and killed some 20 Gazan terrorists, including operatives involved in rebuilding Hamas’s military apparatus and terrorists who infiltrated the northwestern Negev during the Oct. 7, 2023, massacre, the military added. (Read more)

3. Erdogan's NATO power play leaves Israel on edge - Israel Hayom
The annual NATO summit will open in Ankara this coming Tuesday, and preparations in Turkey are at their peak for what Ankara hopes will be an unusually large show of force: 52 heads of state and representatives from the alliance's 32 member states, as well as nine additional countries invited to the summit, some 3,000 journalists and about 56,000 security personnel securing the event, according to Turkish authorities.
At the center of the summit will be two processes that have reached their peak this year and will shape the world's most important military alliance in the years ahead: the confrontation between the US and the European members of the alliance, and Turkey's rise, accompanied not only by what appears to be a close friendship between US President Donald Trump and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, but also by military and industrial strengthening that has reached fruition in recent years.
Trump and his administration's attitude toward the US' veteran Western allies was clear from the outset, against the backdrop of the campaign that returned isolationism to the center of the American stage, and was also fueled by clear value gaps with those same countries. But after the initial confrontation over Ukraine and European efforts at flattery in an attempt to force Kyiv into a surrender agreement with Russia, it was actually the previous NATO summit, held in The Hague, that managed to project an image of success around the joint agreement to raise the defense spending threshold from 2% to 5% of GDP by 2035. 4. Acting elections chief: We are considering livestreaming vote count - Israel Hayom
Acting Central Elections Committee Director-General Attorney Dean Livne said the committee was considering livestreaming the vote-counting operation in the upcoming elections online, as part of its preparations to counter attempts to undermine public trust in the results.
"We are going to raise the level of transparency in the elections, to the most transparent elections ever," he said in an interview with Elinor Shirkani-Kopelman. The Israel Hayom annual conference is being held at the David Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem, produced by Fleischman Peles Productions.
Livne addressed concerns he had previously expressed about actors who would seek to challenge the election results, clarifying that he had not been referring to any particular party. (Read more)

5. First time in 2,000 years: Israel carrying out conservation work at Tomb of the Patriarchs - JNS
For the first time in 2,000 years, Jewish authorities are conducting conservation work at the Tomb of the Patriarchs, where, according to the Bible, Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, and Jacob and Leah are buried.
The site, revered as the burial place of the patriarchs and matriarchs of the Jewish people, is Judaism’s second-holiest site.
The maintenance and safety upgrades include electrical renovations, air conditioning, improved drainage, new lighting and a fire protection system.
The renovation is helping transform the site into a world-class destination, Yishai Fleisher, director of international and government affairs for the Jewish Community of Hebron, told JNS on Thursday. (Read more)

1. NATO Aware of Alleged Russian Plan to Launch ‘Military Provocation’ Against Alliance: Report- Breitbart
NATO is aware of a secret Russian plan to undermine the alliance by staging a minor and short-lived invasion of Poland — one of the highest defence spending members — in a bid to neuter Western support for Ukraine, a report claims.
Russia could launch a limited attack on a major member of NATO calculated not to spiral into a full war but intended to persuade the alliance it is under so much peril it needs to divert weapons presently being donated to Ukraine back to their own defence, a report in Polish media claims. Writing in Poland’s Onet and Britain’s The Daily Telegraph — media in two of NATO’s most Russia-hawk members — Polish journalist Witold Jurasz claims that Russia wants to top off its misadventure in Ukraine by prodding the NATO bear on its own turf.
Allegedly, the United States has already officially, behind closed doors, warned Poland “several” times about these “new Russian plans for a conventional attack on NATO’s eastern flank”. (Read more)

2. Iran Warns of Response Without ‘Full Implementation’ of US Peace Deal - The Epoch Times
Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Friday warned of a response from Tehran if the United States and Israel breach an interim peace deal, as the Iranian regime prepares to bury its former top leader.
While he was meeting with an official from Belarus, Ghalibaf that Iran “will strongly demand full implementation of the agreements, and [if the United States and Israel] fail to fulfill their commitments, Iran will resume proportionate actions,” according to the semi-official Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) media outlet.
He also claimed that the U.S. military wasn’t successful in its operation against the Iranian regime, alleging Washington “requested a ceasefire themselves.”
U.S. President Donald Trump and other administration officials, however, have said that Iran’s military capabilities were significantly denigrated by U.S. attacks on the country that started in February, while U.S. forces later imposed a naval blockade on the country’s ports for roughly two months.
Before a ceasefire in April, Trump warned that American forces could strike Iranian power plants, bridges, and other infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Iran was preparing on Friday for the funeral of the late top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with banners across Tehran urging the public to rise up in support of the Iranian regime after the devastating strikes that killed the 86-year-old leader and a number of other top leaders. 3. The states that still allow trans athletes in women's sports face questions after Supreme Court ruling - Fox News
The U.S. Supreme Court has codified the protection of laws in 27 states that prevent biological males from competing in women's sports.
Still, 23 states do not have such a law, and 19 of those states actively allow transgender athletes in girls' sports. The remaining four states restrict participation through state education agencies or athletic association rules rather than official state legislation.

4. Raging Colorado wildfire doubles in size, becomes the 'number one' fire priority in the US - Fox Weather
A destructive wildfire burning across southern Colorado nearly doubled in size Wednesday and is now the nation's "number one" fire priority, according to Phil Daniels, the incident commander with the state's Division of Fire Prevention and Control.
The Aspen Acres Fire broke out Monday across Pueblo and Custer counties, ballooning to over 47,950 acres after destroying at least 180 buildings and injuring a firefighter, as the entire Four Corners region grapples with dangerous fire weather conditions.
Local sheriffs said more homes and buildings could be destroyed after the wind direction prevented officials from conducting an updated assessment Wednesday. The fire remains completely uncontained.
The fire is now one of five major wildfires burning in Colorado, forcing the state to bring in firefighting resources from Alaska and Tennessee as crews are stretched to the limit, Daniels said. (Read more)

5. FBI infiltrated Gavin Newsom’s inner circle by convincing governor’s ally to wear a wire: lawyer- New York Post /MSN
The FBI had a mole inside Gov. Gavin Newsom’s political orbit before the agency’s corruption probe expanded into the governor and his wife, The Post has learned.
Democrat insider Alexis Podesta, 45, secretly recorded conversations during the criminal probe into Newsom’s then-chief of staff, Dana Williamson, 53, who pleaded guilty to federal fraud and tax charges in May, according to Williamson’s attorney.
The revelation she was wearing a wire as far back as June 2024 explains why a swath of Sacramento political insiders and lobbyists were stunned to receive FBI letters last fall informing them that their phone calls had been intercepted during the investigation — despite many having little or no connection to Williamson.
“Alexis wore a wire, and Dana did not,” said McGregor Scott, Williamson’s lawyer and a former US attorney for the Eastern District of California, which is now investigating the Newsoms. (Read more)

6. Patriots Rip Down Somali Flag In American City Square After Officials Cancel July 4 Fireworks- Daily Wire
A Somali flag that Buffalo, New York, city officials raised in Niagara Square earlier this week to celebrate the foreign country’s independence was cut down in the dead of night on Wednesday. The flag robbery took place one day after city officials canceled Buffalo’s Fourth of July fireworks celebration.
Buffalo Mayor Sean Ryan said “unknown vandals” removed the Somali flag at some point late on Wednesday night, according to Buffalo-Toronto Public Media. Ryan added that the Buffalo Police Department is investigating the incident. The Somali flag has been raised in Niagara Square for the past four years on July 1 to celebrate Somali Independence Day.
“Buffalo is a proud, diverse city, and our administration remains committed to honoring and celebrating the many cultures that make our community stronger,” Ryan added.
The Somali flag-raising has stirred controversy in the city, especially since it falls so close to the Fourth of July and the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. As they raised the Somali flag in the city square, Buffalo city officials were also blasted for scrapping the Fourth of July fireworks celebration. (Read more)

Two Mexican Cartel Lieutenants Masquerading as Self-Defense Fighters Indicted on Terrorism Charges
|
|
|
|
Two high-ranking cartel lieutenants who are part of a criminal organization that masquerades as a self-defense group are now facing terrorism related charges, as well as drug trafficking charges, in a U.S. federal court. While the two men are criminally indicted and wanted in the United States, they are currently believed to be in Mexico, where they enjoy the protection of the terrorist organization known as Carteles Unidos.
This week, a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C. handed down the indictment against 31-year-old Juan Jose “Juanjo” Farias Mendoza and his cousin, 37-year-old Israel “Papo” Vega Farias. Farias Mendoza is the son of Juan Jose “El Abuelo” Farias Alvarez, while Vega Farias is his nephew. El Abuelo Farias is the current leader of Carteles Unidos, one of the most powerful cartels in Mexico, which has a history of carrying out terrorist attacks using explosives, mass killings, and other deadly tactics.
However, as Breitbart Texas reported, El Abuelo Farias has been hiding his activities in Mexico by claiming he leads a self-defense group and a community police force in the town of Tepalcatepec. While in the past, federal authorities arrested him in Mexico, a federal judge released him under suspicious circumstances. El Abuelo and his forces continue to operate in Michoacan and other parts of Mexico with little interference from Mexican authorities.
The three-count indictment formally accuses the two relatives of El Abuelo of drug trafficking conspiracy charges and providing support for a terrorist organization. The terrorism charge is tied to the U.S. government formally designating six Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. (Breitbart) Read more here.

11 States Refuse to Participate in Great American State Fair
|
|
|
By all accounts the Great American State Fair has been a huge success. Crowds were shoulder to shoulder as Americans gathered to watch the USA’s World Cup Soccer team on giant monitors.
The fair is supposed to showcase the history, tourism and traditions of all 50 states in the union – along with our territories. An event commissioned by the Trump administration called Freedom 250 – not to be confused with the America 250 celebration established by Congress.
But not all 50 states are represented.
Hawaii, Oregon, Washington State, Illinois, North Carolina, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts Connecticut Rhode Island and Pennsylvania – chose not to participate.
Governor Josh Shapiro told The New Republic that it cost too much money to put together an exhibit. Then, he said there was not much interest among businesses.
That prompted Senators Dave McCormick and John Fetterman to set aside political differences and rally the troops. Within days they had a number of businesses and volunteers who turned the barren Pennsylvania display into a Keystone State wonderland.

President Donald Trump delivered a 37-minute speech for America's 250th birthday after a weather delay in the dark of night that was lit up by a Guinness world-record-setting fireworks display stretching from July 4 into July 5 at Washington, D.C.'s National Mall.
While thousands outlasted the rain and dodged nature's thunderstorm light show, many Americans might have missed the president's historic remarks.

"All these talks from the communists, they haven't got a chance – not even a chance," Trump said; a theme he reiterated multiple times in the speech. "We don't want communists in our country. Never worked and it never will work."
Communism will always be "a loser," Trump added later.
"Our warriors did not fight communism on battlefields across the world only to have that menace rears its ugly head right back here in America. We're not going to let it happen. We like to stop a threat like that immediately and before it begins," Trump said. "It's like a cancer. You got to cut it out. You got to cut it out fast."
Trump added a warning to potential future communist opposition around the globe.
"The Stars and Stripes cast the hammer and sickle into oblivion before," Trump said, "and we will do it again if necessary."
"I don't think it's going to be necessary. I think people have learned. They've learned what to do and how to handle it, and we'll get a handle on it very well." (Fox News)

Father God, we thank You for the words You gave to President Trump to speak on this historic occasion. There will never be another "250," but America will have many days yet ahead to fulfill our destiny in Christ.
We ask You, O Lord, to help all of us, Your intercessors, to "stay the course" in our
prayers and to call forth Your will, and Your will only, for America in the days ahead.

Enemies Within: The Threat of Communism to America

Less than five years after the end of the Second World War, as the communist Soviet Union rapidly consolidated its control over much of central and Eastern Europe, Senator Joseph McCarthy (R-Wis.) introduced a shocking claim: Anywhere from 50 to more than 200 communist agents were working in the U.S. government, covertly advancing the agenda of international communism and subverting American culture and society.
“The State Department is infested with communists,” McCarthy is reported to have said, speaking at a Republican fundraising event in February of 1950. The senator produced a piece of paper which he said contained the names of known communists in the employ of then-president Harry Truman’s State Department. There is no audio or video recording of the speech and there is some dispute over whether McCarthy alleged that there 57 communists in the State Department or 205; many of those present reported that McCarthy said “205,” although others report that he said “57,” which is the number McCarthy cited both in communications to Truman and in the congressional record.
McCarthy’s allegation came at a time when communism was broadly recognized as a threat to the U.S. Over the next several years, concerns over the threat of communist influence would rise sharply, with men like future President Richard Nixon, law enforcement guru J. Edgar Hoover, National Review founder William F. Buckley, Jr. and his editorial team, including his brother-in-law L. Brent Bozell and conservative intellectual Russell Kirk, attorney and New York City fixer Roy Cohn, and even some Democrats, notably future Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, leading the crusade.
War on America
In a social media post Friday, President Donald Trump warned against the rise of open communism. While communist ideals have long percolated in the Democratic Party and the multiplicity of NGOs funded by the American taxpayers by way of Democratic presidents and congressmen, McCarthy did his job well. Though short-lived, the “red scare” ensured that communism was afraid to show its face in public for decades. Instead, communist sympathies and principles were laundered through political parties, academics and institutions, and a veritable “red army” of NGOs, all masquerading as liberal, progressive, left-wing, or some similar non-communist variant.
Now, outspoken communists are seizing control of the Democratic Party, where their machinations have been at home to varying degrees since the presidency of Woodrow Wilson. The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have enjoyed several recent wins in Democratic primaries for federal offices, in addition to seeing the rise of self-declared socialists as mayors of New York City and Portland. Lightning appears to strike near the Washington Monument during July 4 fireworks

Amid a pyrotechnic display billed as the largest in history, Mother Nature staged its own fireworks show during DC's Independence Day celebration. A thunderstorm unleashed a vivid cloud-to-ground lightning bolt that appeared to align with the Washington Monument as the manmade fireworks lit up the sky.
The dramatic image was captured by Alyssa Wakefield Negvesky and shared on X just after midnight on July 5.
At first glance, the photograph appears to show the monument being struck. But the lightning bolt most likely hit the ground behind the monument instead. In the still image (shown above), a lightning channel directly behind the monument can appear perfectly aligned with it because of the camera's perspective. A confirmed strike typically appears to terminate at the monument's tip (or, less commonly, its side).
Because lightning is a three-dimensional phenomenon and a photograph compresses it into two dimensions, a bolt behind the monument can appear to strike it from a single camera angle.
Video shared by Negvesky further suggests the bolt made contact with the ground behind the monument rather than the monument itself. (Capital Weather) Read more
