THE GOOD NEWS CORNER
The Founders Meant to Keep Government Out of the Church, Not God Out of the Government
The 4th of July makes us think of our independence and freedoms. And legal battles in recent years over religious liberty in the U.S.A. raise serious questions about the freedom to worship in America. So when our Founders came up with the First Amendment, were they trying to keep the government free from religion, or religion free from government?

These days, the phrase "wall of separation between church and state" has come to mean keeping God or His believers from having a big effect on government and public life. But that’s far, far from what the Founding Fathers were thinking of when they were separating church and state. They were afraid of what so many of the Old World countries had: a religion established by the state as its one true religion, that would tyrannically rule over the faith and conscience of every citizen.

As the Providence Forum’s Peter Lillback put it, “They recognized having a monolithic church was a dangerous thing.”  That's because it made the king not only their physical sovereign but also their all-powerful spiritual ruler. Before the Pilgrims fled England, Wallbuilders' David Barton recalled, “The Pilgrims’ pastor was executed because he made the statement that Jesus Christ is head of the church. And the monarch said, ‘Oh no, I’m the head of the church. You’re dead.’” Knowing of such terror and tyranny, AmericanMinute.com historian William Federer explained how the Founders felt: "Their big fear was the federal government was going to follow the blueprint of every country in Europe and pick one national denomination." (CBN) Watch Interview Here
Father we Thank You for the importance of our Founding Fathers' original intentions in the Constitution, declaring government stay out of the Church and not the other way around. So many Americans have misunderstood by believing separation of God and our Government is appropriate. Bring wisdom and discernment to our leaders and citizens, so that we may all experience true FREEDOM in Christ as we honor Him within our government and in every area of our lives. We lift all GLORY to Him as we declare we are One Nation Under God! In the mighty Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Johnson: House Will Try to Pass SAVE America Act ‘One More Time’

On this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said the House will pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act “one more time.”

Johnson said, “I just decided it was best to send everybody home to go celebrate July 4th in their districts. We’ll come back, get everybody together. The big urgency is to get SAVE America passed. The president has that as a top priority, and so do I. We passed it three times in the House. We’re going to try one more time on a budget reconciliation bill, and I think that will be the way to get it through the Senate, and finally, to the president’s desk so that is forthcoming.”

He added, “He would like to add, the prohibition of mail in ballots, except for exceptions, like if somebody is deployed overseas or they’re ill or can’t get to the polling place. But he understands that one is a bigger reach. If we can get proof of citizenship and photo ID to vote, that eliminates so much of the problem, all the fraud and everything that everybody’s concerned about in our elections, particularly, frankly, in these blue states. Look, California, they’re still counting ballots from an election that happened a month ago. It’s crazy, and everybody understands it.” (Breitbart) Read more here.
Lord God, we break every lie that has been told about this act to instill fear in the hearts of Americans and other leaders. We pray over this bill and we have the faith that it will pass. We break all hindrances, in Jesus' name, and we thank you Lord for victory in this critical situation. Amen.

“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.” (1 John 5:14)

White House report brands Smithsonian leadership as radical activists who can’t be trusted

A White House report brands the leadership of the Smithsonian Institution, especially at the National Museum of American History, as radical activists who cannot be trusted, indicating that President Donald Trump may be preparing to install his own team.

The report released late on Independence Day by the White House Domestic Policy Council comes in the midst of Trump’s aggressive campaign to overhaul some of Washington’s most sacred cultural and historic institutions. Trump in March revealed his intention to force changes at the Smithsonian Institution with an executive order that targeted funding for programs that advanced “divisive narratives” and “improper ideology,” as he continued a broadside against culture he deems too liberal.

“The Smithsonian Institution, and the National Museum of American History in particular, under its current leadership and current interpretive ideology, cannot be trusted to tell America’s story honestly and in a way that is inspiring, unifying, and worthy of our great republic,” according to the report by the council, which is led by a former top Trump speechwriter.

The authors added: “As this report shows, confirmed in the words of Museum leadership, this ideological capture has moved the Museum’s mission away from straightforward historical education and scholarship toward an extreme political activism that seeks to transform our country.” (Breitbart) Read more here

Lord God, we thank you that this evil is being exposed. It is a shame that some of our most beloved American institutions are functioning out of an agenda and not the truth. So we plead the blood of Jesus over the Smithsonian. We pray that the leaders there would humble themselves, choose to stand up for truth and righteousness, and that every lie and every evil will be torn down right now, in Jesus' name, amen.

'A military option is still on the table:' Senior Israeli defense officials expected to travel to US

A series of senior Israeli officials are expected to travel to Washington in the coming weeks for high-level meetings, as concerns grow over US-Iran negotiations, i24NEWS has learned.

According to a source familiar with the matter, "the military option is still on the table," underscoring that Israel continues to view military action against Iran as a possible option if diplomacy fails.

The expected visits come against the backdrop of reported difficulties in negotiations between the United States and Iran, as well as the recent signing of a framework agreement with Lebanon.

Among those expected to visit Washington is Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, who is slated to travel to the US capital in about a week and a half for talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to sources familiar with the plans.

Sa’ar's office confirmed that an official invitation for the visit had been received but said the foreign minister has not yet given final confirmation that he will attend.

Negotiations are also underway regarding a possible visit by Defense Minister Israel Katz, with senior Israeli defense officials also expected to travel to Washington as part of what sources described as an "air bridge" of diplomatic and security consultations.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the planned ministerial visits could be canceled if a meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and US President Trump is scheduled in the near future.

The expected consultations reflect close coordination between Jerusalem and Washington at a time of heightened regional tensions and uncertainty over the future of diplomatic efforts with Iran. (i24news) Read more here.
Lord we pray over these meetings that they are successful and productive in Jesus' name. Continue to give our leaders and President Trump wisdom when navigating this rough situation. We continue to pray that the leaders of Iran would keep to their promises and their word. We pray a hedge of protection over our nation, that no harm or evil will prosper against us, in Jesus' name, amen.

At Khamenei funeral, speaker calls to kill Trump; posters and grafitti urge death to Netanyahu, too

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s top officials and brothers of the country’s new supreme leader emerged into public view Sunday to attend the funeral prayers for the late ayatollah Ali Khamenei, signaling a new confidence in their safety as calls grew for the killing of US President Donald Trump.

Their presence before hundreds of thousands of people in the capital Tehran would have been unthinkable during the Iran war, which saw airstrikes in its opening moments on February 28 kill the 86-year-old Khamenei, his family members, and other officials.

But still unseen was Iran’s new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. He is believed to be in hiding after being wounded in the airstrike that killed his father. His face was disfigured, and he suffered a significant injury to one or both legs, people close to his inner circle told Reuters. (Times of Israel) Read much more here.
We cancel these curse words that they will not come to pass right now in Jesus' name. We come against these plans right now in the Spirit and we cut them off with the blood of Jesus. We say decree this will not come to fruition, in Jesus' name, amen.

“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17)
FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Netanyahu warns US against Turkey F-35 deal ahead of Trump-Erdogan talks
- Israel Hayom

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave an interview to Fox News on Monday, his second in two days, and, against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's expected visit to Turkey, delivered a message against the possibility that Washington would supply Ankara with F-35 fighter jets or engines for its warplanes.

Netanyahu said in the interview that "Turkey is a big country, but it is ruled by a man who openly calls for Israel's destruction." He said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan "occupies half of Cyprus, a NATO member state, threatens Greece, also a NATO member state, and speaks openly about conquering Jerusalem."

The prime minister also addressed statements made by senior Turkish government officials against Israel. "His foreign minister, his No. 2, said the Jewish state has no place among humanity. In effect, that it should be wiped out. His interior minister said he expects to be governor of Jerusalem," Netanyahu said. (Read more)

2. Hamas dissolves Gaza government ahead of eventual transfer of power to technocrats - Times of Israel

The Hamas government in Gaza on Monday announced the resignation of the so-called “Emergency Committee” — the Hamas-led administration that governs the Strip — in preparation for the transfer of authority to the technocratic National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.

The Hamas government said in its announcement that all civil servants will continue providing services as usual, describing them as “public employees who are ready to work under the responsibility of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).” Hamas also said it has completed all the administrative steps necessary to transfer authority.

“The head of the government’s emergency committee Mohammed al-Farra has officially submitted his resignation,” Ismail al-Thawabta, head of Hamas’s government media office, told AFP. (Read more)

3. Don’t believe Hamas will relinquish power in Gaza, Palestinians tell ‘Post’
- Jerusalem Post

Despite Hamas’s stated willingness to hand over authority to a technocratic committee, the terrorist group will not relinquish its power, according to Palestinians familiar with the matter.

“Hamas hasn’t declared an end to its rule in the Gaza Strip,” a senior Palestinian official in Ramallah told The Jerusalem Post on Monday. “What they have done is announce the dissolution of what they call the emergency committee. But at the same time, they immediately declared that another temporary governing body would run the [Gaza] Strip and appointed someone to head it.”

Hamas seeks to maintain both its military capabilities and governmental authority in Gaza, the official said. (Read more)

5. French Jewish Tourists Chased Through Barcelona Streets in Antisemitic Harassment Incident - Algemeiner

A group of French Jewish tourists was reportedly chased and harassed by a crowd shouting antisemitic insults after leaving a synagogue in Barcelona — the latest incident amid a broader surge of anti-Jewish hostility and targeted violence across Spain.

The tourists, who were wearing kippahs, were walking back to their hotel through the city’s beachfront Olympic Village area following Shabbat services on Friday when a woman wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh allegedly shouted antisemitic slurs at them and repeatedly spat in their direction, according to the Federation of Jewish Communities in Spain (FCJE), the country’s main Jewish umbrella organization.

The harassment reportedly escalated as dozens of others gradually joined in, some arriving on bicycles, scooters, and motorcycles, surrounding the group and cutting off its path forward. Members of the crowd shouted, “Jews are not welcome in Barcelona,” “Baby killers,” and “Israeli genocide,” according to the victims. (Read more

1.  America 250: 7 important dates for the Declaration of Independence - Christian Post

The United States celebrates its 250th anniversary on Saturday, marking the date that the Declaration of Independence was officially adopted, hailing the birth of the country.

In 1776, representatives from 13 British colonies met in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for the Second Continental Congress, seeking to address issues they had with the mother country.

After much deliberation, the assembly approved one of the most influential documents in history, paving the way for the creation of a country that would eventually become a global superpower.

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the U.S. founding, here are seven key dates that led to the Declaration of Independence in 1776. (Go here)

Thank you, Lord that America celebrated its 250th year! We pray America remains strong even through our current challenges. Give wisdom to the next generation of leaders to keep America safe and strong!

2.  'Happy Somali Independence Day!' Ohio Capital Account Deletes Post Declaring City Would Fly Foreign Flag Week of July Fourth - The Western Journal

Did you know July 1 is Somali Independence Day? Well, you do now, as the City of Columbus, Ohio, decided to make the public aware in a completely tasteless social media post that has since been deleted.

Former Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin posted a screenshot of the post Wednesday from Columbus Parks and Recreation that read, “Happy Somali Independence Day!”

“As we celebrate the unification of the Trust Territory of Somaliland and the State of Somaliland into the Somali Republic in 1960, City Hall will be raising the flag of Somalia.”

McLaughlin added a blunt note, almost in disbelief. “Ohio’s capital city hoisting the flag of a foreign nation.

“Posted and now deleted by @ColsRecParks.”

The city did quickly reverse course. Fox News noted that a representative commented, “A social media post created by a city department falsely stated that City Hall would raise the Somalian flag in recognition of Somali Independence Day.” (Read more)

Lord, we are saddened to hear that a Ohio City representative posted this message about the Somalian flag being raised at the Capital. We thank You this message was taken down, but we pray this individual would be held accountable.

3. Conservatives rage over re-funding of Planned Parenthood - POLITICO

In anticipation of regaining access to more than $800 million in annual federal funding, some Planned Parenthood chapters have been putting the word out to Medicaid patients that they can once again come in for services, and at least one new clinic is set to open later this year in Louisiana — which had lost all of its remaining Planned Parenthood centers over the past year.

But due to ongoing uncertainty over both federal and state funding as well as the difficulty of finding facilities to lease and staff to hire, the vast majority of the dozens of clinics that shut their doors over the past year will not reopen.

Nora Walsh-DeVries, the vice president of political and legislative affairs for Planned Parenthood, said the past year of defunding caused “irreparable damage” to many communities where access to health services is already scarce.

Anxious to prevent that outcome, Planned Parenthood’s electoral advocacy arm just invested another $2 million in an ongoing campaign targeting a handful of vulnerable House Republicans who voted last year to defund the group. The group also flew hundreds of activists into DC for a Capitol Hill lobby day in June, and held demonstrations at GOP members’ district offices during the Memorial Day recess. (Read more)
Lord, we pray these Planned Parenthood centers would remain closed, and the refunding withdrawn!

4.  Iranian regime threatens to seize historic Protestant church, imprison worshippers - Christian Post

One of the last remaining historic Protestant churches in Iran is reportedly facing the threat of confiscation by the Iranian government, drawing renewed international attention to the country's treatment of religious minorities.

Iran has threatened to seize Tehran’s historic St. Peter Evangelical Church and evict the 20 families who reside there, according to multiplereports. Authorities have already seized a 10,000-square-meter garden belonging to the church, which is being occupied by four officials with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, The Jerusalem Post reports.

“I will tell you the literal words they used,” Sasan Tavassoli, a U.S.-based minister with ties to the Presbyterian Church in Iran, said in a statement published by The Free Press this week.

“We were concerned about America all these years. America came. They slapped us on the face,” Tavassoli added. “We slapped them on the face back. And then America withdrew. So we are no longer afraid of America.” (Read more)

We pray the angels of God surround and guard this church, and the 20 people who live there.

5. Lightning appears to strike near the Washington Monument during July 4 fireworks - Capital Weather

Amid a pyrotechnic display billed as the largest in history, Mother Nature staged its own fireworks show during DC's Independence Day celebration. A thunderstorm unleashed a vivid cloud-to-ground lightning bolt that appeared to align with the Washington Monument as the manmade fireworks lit up the sky.

The dramatic image was captured by Alyssa Wakefield Negvesky and shared on X just after midnight on July 5.

At first glance, the photograph appears to show the monument being struck. But the lightning bolt most likely hit the ground behind the monument instead. In the still image, a lightning channel directly behind the monument can appear perfectly aligned with it because of the camera's perspective. A confirmed strike typically appears to terminate at the monument's tip (or, less commonly, its side).

6. First time in 2,000 years: Israel carrying out conservation work at Tomb of the Patriarchs - JNS

For the first time in 2,000 years, Jewish authorities are conducting conservation work at the Tomb of the Patriarchs, where, according to the Bible, Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, and Jacob and Leah are buried.

The site, revered as the burial place of the patriarchs and matriarchs of the Jewish people, is Judaism’s second-holiest site.

The maintenance and safety upgrades include electrical renovations, air conditioning, improved drainage, new lighting and a fire protection system.

The renovation is helping transform the site into a world-class destination, Yishai Fleisher, director of international and government affairs for the Jewish Community of Hebron, told JNS on Thursday.

“It has a really high-end look and feel and, of course, it will make worship inside much more pleasant, more moving and more spiritual. It also shows the State of Israel is engaging with the site and recognizes its importance to our heritage, tourism and the identity of Israel,” Fleisher said. (Read more)

The Daily Jot

Of Courage and Faithfulness

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, July 6, 2026

Pinchas (Numbers 25:10–30:1), begins in the aftermath of one of Israel's darkest moments. Seduced into idolatry and sexual immorality through the worship of Baal, the nation came under God's judgment. As a plague swept through the camp, Phinehas stepped forward with courageous obedience and brought an end to the rebellion. The Lord responded by making a "covenant of peace" with Phinehas and his descendants, establishing an everlasting priesthood because "he was zealous for his God and made atonement for the people of Israel.” The Hebrew word kafar, translated "atonement," points far beyond Phinehas to the greater atonement that would one day come through the Messiah.

The portion then turns from one generation to the next. The Lord commands a new census as Israel prepares to enter the Promised Land, settles questions of inheritance, and reveals to Moses that his earthly ministry is nearing its end. Moses responds with remarkable humility. His concern rests with the people rather than himself. He asks God to appoint a leader "so that the LORD's congregation may not be like sheep which have no shepherd" (Numbers 27:17). God chooses Joshua, the faithful servant who had walked beside Moses for decades. Before the entire nation, Moses lays his hands on Joshua, publicly confirming the leadership God had already chosen. Strong leadership is never built on ambition. It grows from faithful preparation, spiritual maturity, and a willingness to serve long before receiving authority. Read More

New York’s First Lady Ditches America 250 to Attend Muslim Retreat on Spanish Resort Island

Rama Duwaji, New York’s First Lady, wife of Mayor Zohran Mamdani, apparently had other priorities than celebrating America’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

She hopped a jet to a Spanish resort island for an Islamic “spiritual wellness” retreat, leaving behind her husband who earlier in the week celebrated milestone in a caustic speech by essentially saying the country is the home of white racists and freedom belongs only to the chosen few.

In a July 4th story. the New York Post reported that Duwaji, a Texas-raised, Dubai-educated Syrian-American artist was spotted at Newark International Airport on Monday as she took an eight-hour flight to Palma, located on the island of Mallorca in the western Mediterranean.

The 29-year-old Duwaji has a history of bashing the United States.

Since-deleted social media posts include praising Palestinian terror groups and attacking US service members for assisting Israel, the Washington Free Beacon reported in March.

“In 2015, she reposted a tirade on Tumblr, saying ‘American soldiers fighting in imperialist wars are not brave nor are they fighting for anyone’s freedom. They are mercilessly slaughtering 3rd world civilians and fighting to maintain American hegemony.’” the Post reported.

The retreat, called “The Women’s Sanctuary,” was a sold out event, and Duwaji is its “artist in residence,” according to the Post.(Breitbart) Read much more here.
Holy God,

As Rama Duwaji, First Lady of New York and wife of Mayor Mamdani, visits this Woman's Sanctuary Retreat called "Plants of the Quran"  for Islamic "spiritual wellness" during America's 250 celebration, we pray that You invade this retreat with Your Holy Spirit and show Your mighty power among them! Lord, there is no 'spiritual wellness' other than that which is inYou and we pray that the truth will overshadow any unrighteousness that is there.

Thank You, Father, that in spite of the hatred that spews out of the mouths of Mandani and his wife, Rama, against the United States, the beautiful reading of the Declaration of Independence went on in New York and the world celebrated with us as we rejoiced over 250 years of freedom!

Lord, save America from the wickedness of Islam and socialism and let the freedom of truth echo in our land, forever and ever! In Your Mighty name, we pray. Amen and Amen.

BROOKLYN (WABC) -- The FDNY responded to a rubbish fire that broke out on the Brooklyn Bridge as the Macy's Fourth of July fireworks were going off.

The fire broke out after 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the Manhattan-bound side of the span and was likely caused by the display.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Father God,

We rejoice and praise You today that there are no reports of injuries from the fire that broke out on the Brooklyn Bridge as Macy's Fireworks were going off! Thank,You, Lord, for the New York Fire Department for acting quickly to extinguish this fire before any injuries occurred.

Thank You, Father, for America's military men and women and for the wonderful displays of our Air Force as they lit up the skies over DC on July 4th! May the patriotism and love shown by President Trump during these celebrations live forever and ever, as we give him the honor that is due him!

We gratefully and humbly offer this prayer. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Trump to Travel to Turkey for NATO Summit: What to Know

ISTANBUL—U.S. President Donald Trump will travel to Ankara, Turkey, to attend the NATO summit on July 7 and 8, where leaders are expected to review progress on the alliance’s defense spending commitments and burden-sharing goals.

Hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the summit brings together the leaders of NATO’s 32 member states amid continued pressure from the Trump administration for allies, particularly in Europe, to increase defense spending and assume a greater share of the alliance’s security responsibilities.

Trump’s Schedule

Trump is expected to arrive in Ankara on the afternoon of July 7, where he will be welcomed by Erdogan with a state arrival ceremony and honor guard review. The two leaders are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting before joining the NATO leaders’ social dinner, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly told reporters during a call previewing the summit.

On July 8, Trump will attend the official welcome ceremony and family photo, followed by a NATO leaders’ working session. He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on the sidelines, Kelly said. The president will hold a press conference before departing Ankara.

Father God,

Whenever our President travels across the world, we know that it is time to pray!
We ask for traveling mercies for President Trump throughout this upcoming journey,
and for favor with the leaders of NATO’s 32 member states  when he meets with them. We ask, too, for an extra measure of divine wisdom to rest upon President Trump when he meets with his host, Turkey's President Erdogan. May Your will, and Your will only, be accomplished in these talks.

And Lord, we know that our President and the First Lady have been through a huge experience during this past weekend, as they led the nation in celebrating our 250th anniversary of our founding. We ask, Oh Lord, that You would now infuse President Trump with a fresh portion of "energy from above" as he continues pursuing the tasks that are set before him. In Your Name, Holy One, we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

Ask, and it shall be given you . . ." (Matthew 7:7a)

Rare cannonball emerges from ground at the Alamo, likely untouched for nearly 190 years

Archaeologists have uncovered a cannonball that may have been fired during the 1836 Battle of the Alamo — just three months after making a similar rare discovery.

The cannonball was discovered on June 2.

The Alamo Trust, the nonprofit organization that oversees the Alamo Mission, announced the discovery on June 16.

It was found outside the northeast corner of the Alamo Church, in an adjacent excavation unit where another intact cannonball was unearthed in March.

Pictures show heavy rust covering the newly discovered iron cannonball, which appears orange-brown in color.

Because it was found at roughly the same depth as the first cannonball in a neighboring excavation unit, archaeologists believe it likely remained undisturbed for nearly 190 years.

"So whenever they were dropped, the very first time — possibly in 1836, probably — they haven’t been touched since," Tiffany Lindley, director of archaeology at the Alamo, said in a press release. (Fox News) Read More

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name."
