THE GOOD NEWS CORNER
EXCLUSIVE: Meet the man Israel chose to be its first-ever ambassador to the Christian world
JERUSALEM, Israel: In a move being praised by many Christian leaders, the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently announced the appointment of a new position of envoy to the Christian world — with the goal of better and smoother relations with the Christian world. In an exclusive interview in Jerusalem, Ambassador George Deek told Fox News Digital the importance the Netanyahu government has put on his position. "We see the ethnic cleansing of the region from its Christians, who have been diminished from 20% of the population of the Middle East to less than 2% of the population today," Deek said. "All those places that used to have thriving Christian communities today have been reduced to nothing."-IL)

Israel counts 300 churches, double the number in 1948, while its Christian population has grown from 34,000 in 1948 to more than 180,000 today. Deek said of his role. "My hope is to also be able to build strong bridges between the State of Israel and Christian leaders… by telling a fuller story of the State of Israel, which I think is missed in most of the narratives we hear today in the world," he said. According to Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics, as of December 2025, Israel’s Christian population stood at approximately 184,200, representing 1.9% of the country’s total population. The community grew by 0.7% over the previous year.

Deek, who served for six years as Israel’s ambassador to Azerbaijan before assuming his current role, said most people know Israel only through its Jewish identity and are unaware of the complexity and diversity of Israeli society. Deek said the decision announced by the Foreign Ministry in April to appoint him to the role stems from three factors: first, the special connection between Christians and the land of Israel as the birthplace of Christianity. Second is the deep historical bond reflected in the churches of the Holy Land and in Christians and Jews living under shared biblical values, from which they derive societal principles including democracy, individualism, and freedom of conscience and thought. Third is the importance Israel places on relations with people of all denominations and religions. (Fox News) Watch Interview and Read More Here
God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we celebrate the selection of Ambassador George Deek as special envoy for Christians in Israel. We pray that his words would be empowered by Your Holy Spirit as he speaks about shared biblical values and a strong bond between Jews and Christians. Abba, we ask that You would use him in mighty ways by strengthening unity and love between Christians and Jews living side by side in the Holy Land and around the world! By the Blood of Yeshua, we pray- Amen.

JD Vance Announces 'Major' Breakthrough in Iran Negotiations: 'A Very, Very Good Day'
Vice President J.D. Vance said that the first day of talks between the United States and Iran to end the conflict between the two countries made progress.

Talks began Sunday in Switzerland.

“Yesterday was a very, very good day,” Vance said Monday in a video posted to X.
“We made a lot of good progress. We did exactly what we wanted to do, which is accomplish four things for the American people,” he said.

Vance said one goal of the talks was to “build a mechanism for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.”

“The Iranians have agreed to invite IAEA inspectors back into their country. That is a major milestone for the American people, and the first step in permanently denuclearizing — permanently ending a nuclear weapons program in Iran,” Vance said.

Qatar posted a statement on X summing up the day of talks.

It noted that “to avoid incidents and miscommunication with the aim of safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz,” Iran and the U.S. have developed a process for talking over each incident.

“Technical talks will continue for the remainder of the week at the Bürgenstock resort on all issues. The mediating parties will continue to do their utmost to ensure that the negotiations continue to be conducted in a constructive atmosphere with the aim of reaching a final deal,” the statement said. (The Western Journal) Read more here.
Lord God, we realize that the talks between the United States and Iran are changing
hour by hour, and that, by late last night, it was announced that this phase of these
talks had ended. We continue to ask that Your will, and only Your will be done now,
for Iran, for Israel, and for the United States. May these leaders move into a new era
of honesty and trust in all the negotiations yet to come, in Your Name, Holy One,
amen and amen!

"Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10)

Huckabee jokes he checked Trump posts to see if he’d been fired over Israel-Lebanon comments

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee jokes that he checked social media this morning to make sure that he still had a job, apparently referring to his remarks in favor of the Israeli policy regarding Iran and Hezbollah.

“I checked Trump’s social media to make sure this was not my last speech in Israel,” Huckabee quips at the beginning of his remarks at the JNS International Policy Summit in Jerusalem.

“He typically fires people in the middle of the night by way of social media, so I wanted to make sure,” he continues. “So far, so good!”

A spokesperson for the embassy later tells reporters in a statement, “The ambassador’s remarks were obviously said in jest.”

Huckabee has been an ardent supporter of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has found himself at odds with the US in recent weeks over Washington’s efforts to end wars in Iran and Lebanon. (Times of Israel) Read more here.

Lord God, we pray over the relationship between President Trump and Ambassador Mike Huckabee that there is unity between them. We pray, too, that you grant both of them Your wisdom about how to handle these tough situations, and that they get along for the betterment of both of our countries. We thank You for Mike Huckabee's sense of humor at this difficult time, and we ask that You continue to give him wisdom as he works with P.M. Benjamin Netanyahu for the blessig of both of our nations. In Jesus' name we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

Trump: ‘Years in Jail!’ U.S. Park Police Arrest Multiple People over Reflecting Pool Vandalism
President Donald Trump said Saturday that U.S. Park Police made multiple arrests connected to vandalism at the recently renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and that repair work would start right away.

Trump posted on Truth Social:

The United States Park Police have arrested multiple individuals for vandalizing our Nations magnificent Reflecting Pool. Who would do such a thing? These are very serious crimes having to do with the destruction of National Monuments. Years in jail! Work will begin immediately on its repair. President DJT

Trump said Friday his administration had “cleaned, renovated, and beautified over 45 Monuments and Memorials, 28 Statues, and 22 Fountains in Washington, DC,” but added that there had been “real problems with Vandalism” at the Reflecting Pool. He said individuals had damaged grass outside the pool and tried to harm the newly installed inside surface.

“Just like three days ago, they destroyed the grass outside of the Pool, they’ve also done everything possible to hurt the inside surface that was just installed,” Trump wrote. “No different than the chemicals that were used on the National Mall, they used something similar in the Reflecting Pool to try to destroy and demean our beautiful work.”

Trump added that the algae was “75 percent gone,” the remaining condition would “soon be completely remedied,” and the vandalized area was a “small area of damage” expected to be fixed early the following week. He added that law enforcement was investigating. (Breitbart) Read more here.
We plead the blood of Jesus over the Reflecting Pool and we ask You, O Lord, to send forth Your angels to help protect this historic site. Thank You, Lord, that President Trump has taken drastic action to arrest the criminals who have done this, and that the Reflecting Pool will be restored in time for our national Fourth of July celebration. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer, amen and amen.

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten,
The crawling locust,
The consuming locust,
And the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you."

Keir Starmer resigns as British prime minister after devastating Labour revolt and local election losses
Trump had criticized Starmer over the Iran crisis, saying 'This is not Winston Churchill that we're dealing with'

Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced Monday that he will resign following a mounting revolt inside the Labour Party after devastating local election losses, the resignation of government ministers and growing pressure from senior members of his own cabinet.

Starmer said he would step down as prime minister and Labour leader after concluding he could no longer unite the party, but is expected to remain in office until a successor is chosen.

"Every decision I've taken has been about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign as leader of the Labour Party. I have spoken to his majesty the king this morning to inform him of my decision," he said while delivering a statement outside of 10 Downing Street.

Starmer also acknowledged growing opposition within his own party, saying, "The question my party is asking now is whether I am best placed to lead us into the next general election. I have heard the answer of my parliamentary party to that question, and I accept that answer with good grace." (Fox News) Read more here.

We pray over the United Kingdom that a righteous and just leader would stand up and help that nation. We pray for all the people there that have suffered at the hands of weak leadership and we just ask that You comfort them today and help them Lord in their trials. We pray that England would be cleaned up, righteousness and justice would rule, and correction would be brought to that country, in Jesus' name, amen.

1. Herzog to JNS: Israel is being targeted by Iran’s evil empire, even as ‘we dream of peace on all frontiers’- JNS

Israel is being targeted by “Iran’s evil empire” even as it continues to pursue peace with its neighbors, President Isaac Herzog said on Monday.

The Jewish state faces a “moment of profound challenge,” said Herzog during his address on the second day of the JNS International Policy Summit in Jerusalem.

“For over two-and-a-half years of war, the State of Israel has faced major threats, heart-breaking tragedies and tremendous achievements,” he said. “As we speak, the courageous women and men of the Israel Defense Forces are defending our borders, our homes, our families, from those who seek to harm us.” He expressed his “love and blessings” to those defending the country’s borders. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu, Katz and Zamir issue a rare joint statement - Israel National News

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz, and IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir issued a rare joint statement on Monday evening amid growing controversy surrounding the IDF's rules of engagement in southern Lebanon and allegations of restrictions placed on troop operations.

The statement was released following a conversation the three held with the Head of Northern Command, Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo. The statement declared that "the IDF will continue to act decisively to thwart threats against our soldiers and citizens, destroy terrorist infrastructure, and maintain the security zone in southern Lebanon."

It further stated that "the Prime Minister, Defense Minister, and Chief of Staff made it clear that the safety of Israeli citizens and IDF forces will continue to be their absolute priority, without compromise." (Read more)

3. New Lebanon ‘Deconfliction’ Mechanism Seems to Exclude Israel, Sparks Anger in Jerusalem - Algemeiner

A new US-backed diplomatic initiative involving Iran to establish a “deconfliction mechanism” for Lebanon is facing growing criticism in Israel, where leaders warn it could undermine Israel’s freedom of military action while elevating Tehran’s influence over Lebanon’s security and sovereignty.

The framework, unveiled on Monday, would bring together the US, Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan in a coordination cohort intended to manage tensions in Lebanon and reduce the risk of escalation between Israel and Hezbollah, the Iran-backed terrorist group that wields significant influence across Lebanon.

Israel, notably, would not be included in the mechanism, which emerged from the first high-level US-Iran talks in Switzerland over the weekend. (Read more)

4. U.S. and Iran announce direct Lebanon track without Israel - World Israel News

Following tense high-level negotiations over the weekend, mediators in Switzerland announced Monday morning that Washington and Tehran have agreed on a 60-day roadmap toward ending the war.

The joint statement released by mediating countries Qatar and Pakistan also unveiled the creation of a Lebanon deconfliction mechanism.

According to the mediators, this entails a direct U.S.-Iranian track to terminate military operations in Lebanon and includes the Lebanese government but not Israel.

The mediators did not explain how that would operate or resolve the current hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. (Read more

Initial reports also stated that a civilian, identified as Michael Moshe Mizrahi, a Jewish local and member of the local Chabad center, had been killed, possibly by crossfire during a shootout between policeofficers and the attacker.

Conflicting reports emerged later on Monday regarding Mizrahi’s status, with ZAKA saying claims he had died were incorrect and that he was undergoing emergency surgery, and a Chabad source confirmed ZAKA’s claims to The Jerusalem Post(Read more)

1. US, Iran set for new talks; Trump threatens US tolls in Hormuz if deal not reached in 60 days - Times of Israel

A round of negotiations between the US and Iran on implementing their agreement to end the war was set to kick off in Switzerland on Sunday, with Iranian negotiators arriving in the Swiss host city hours ahead of US Vice President JD Vance, even as renewed tensions flared over Tehran’s claim that it had closed the Strait of Hormuz once again.

Before boarding his flight to Europe, Vance told reporters he could “only be there for a day or two” and hoped to “make progress on the nuclear issue, make progress on the Lebanon ceasefire issue. Those are the two big things that I think we’re going to be focused on.”

Asked whether the fighting in Lebanon was threatening to derail the talks, Vance said: “Things are actually getting better there, and things are slowing down a little bit.”

“[Secretary of State Marco Rubio] and the entire team have been actively managing what’s going on in Lebanon,” he added.

“Despite the headlines, things are actually getting better there, and things are slowing down a little bit. It’s going to be something we’re just going to have to continuously manage to ensure that, you know, Israel and Lebanon are both safe and secure,” he said. (Times of Israel) Read more here.

Lord, we pray a deal would be made regarding the strait of Hormuz, and Iran. Give strategy and wisdom to the Trump administration, and to Vice-President Vance, as he conducts these talks in Switzerland.

3. Congress is finally set to pass a housing bill: Here’s what it would do - The Hill

Congress is on the verge of passing a bipartisan housing package after months of often tense negotiations between House and Senate Republicans, a significant achievement that lawmakers in both parties are eager to tout back home.

The bill, titled the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, would roll back some permitting regulations and limit corporations from buying up single-family homes, among other things.

It’s the first big push in decades to change regulations and address problems that have limited the nation’s housing supply and led to high costs of homeownership and renting nationwide.

Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Tim Scott (R-S.C.) have been the bipartisan duo driving the bill’s progress in the Senate, along with their House counterparts, Reps. French Hill (R-Ark.) and Maxine Waters (D-Calif.). (Read more)

Thank you, Lord for this housing bill that would make housing more affordable and prevent Corporations from buying up the houses and driving up costs.

4. Trump administration says it’s considering ‘partial closure’ of Kennedy Center despite judge’s order - The Hill

The Trump administration said in a court filing late Friday that it is still considering a “partial closure” at the Kennedy Center, despite a previous ruling requiring that the iconic performing arts center remains open.

Last month, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the institution’s board improperly voted to shut down the center starting on July 5 for renovations. Cooper also reversed the board’s decision to add President Trump’s name to the center.

The judge had asked the administration to share more details by a Friday deadline about these planned renovations and scheduled programming at the center for after the previously planned closure date.

Matt Floca, the center’s executive director, said in the Friday filing that management plans to present the board with three options: “complete closure” with “no ongoing programming,” “partial closure” with “limited programming” or “phased closures” and a “full slate of programming.”

“The Center continues to prepare for additional capital repair and construction activities,” government attorneys wrote in the filing, noting that Cooper’s order did not block the center from closing for renovations altogether nor did it require them to reschedule cancelled programming.

The administration said it expects these renovations to occur between July and December, pending approval from the performing arts center’s board. (Read more)

Lord, we pray over the Kennedy center as to whether it should be partially closed. We pray that You work out the details and that Your will be done in this situation.

5.  Trump likely to drain Reflecting Pool again, following peeling paint and algae - Washington Post

The president blamed “disgraceful Vandalism” for the damage and peeling paint, which emerged after workers spent days treating algae.

President Donald Trump said Saturday night that he was likely to drain the Lincoln Memorial’s Reflecting Pool again, as workers contend with paint peeling off its surface and algae blooming in the wake of his $14 million effort to resurface it. (Read more here.)

Lord, we pray for the restoration of the Lincoln Memorials reflecting pool. Please provide a remedy for the peeling paint and the algae that is continuing to affect the reflecting pool.

6.  Over a million abortions took place in the US last year - Christian Today

Abortion estimates released by the Society of Family Planning’s #WeCount project show a slight increase in abortions and highlight how telehealth abortions are undermining state abortion restrictions in the post-Dobbs era.

The #WeCount project report published earlier this month estimated that 1.13 million abortions took place across the United States in 2025. The Society of Family Planning’s (SFP) research initiative stated that the number of abortions in 2025 was slightly higher than it was in 2024.

While the in-person abortion volume appeared to fluctuate from month to month, with monthly numbers in 2025 being lower than in 2024, the report found an increase in the number of telehealth abortions - those carried out by women at home using pills delivered in the mail following a virtual consultation with an abortion provider. (Read more)

Lord, forgive us for the over one million abortions that occurred last year. We pray for Your mercy and grace and Your Holy Spirit to change our hearts toward You to obey Your commands and honor You.

Korach's Rebellion and Aaron's Rod

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, June 22, 2026

Korach's rebellion in Numbers 16:1-18:32 began with noble words. Standing before Moses and Aaron with 250 leaders of Israel, he declared, "All the congregation is holy." On the surface, it sounded like a plea for equality. Beneath it was ambition disguised as righteousness. Korach (Korah) was a Levite and cousin of Moses and Aaron. He reasoned that since Moses held leadership and Aaron held the priesthood, he deserved greater authority as well. Dathan and Aviram, from the tribe of Reuben, also believed their lineage entitled them to greater prominence. What appeared to be a movement for fairness was actually a challenge to God's appointed order. The issue is entitlement over God’s right to choose whom He would.

Moses responded with remarkable restraint. Rather than defending himself, he placed the matter before the Lord. Korach and his followers were instructed to bring censers filled with incense and appear before God. The next morning, the glory of the Lord appeared, and judgment came swiftly. Moses and Aaron once again interceded for the people, demonstrating the heart of true leadership. Yet Korach, Dathan, and Aviram persisted in their rebellion. The earth opened and swallowed the leaders of the insurrection, while fire from heaven consumed the 250 men offering unauthorized incense. Even after witnessing such unmistakable judgment, the people accused Moses of bringing death upon the Lord's people. Their complaints revealed a deeper problem: hardened hearts often refuse to recognize God's hand even when it is plainly visible. Read More

Bible scrolls from era of Jesus hailed as 'greatest discovery of all time' unveiled

The Dead Sea Scrolls rewrote the history of the Bible, preserving some of the oldest surviving copies of Scripture ever discovered.

First uncovered in desert caves in 1947, the fragile manuscripts revealed biblical texts dating to the centuries before and during the time of Jesus, offering a rare glimpse into how the Bible existed nearly 2,000 years ago.

Now, several of those ancient fragments are set to go on display next month at the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC, running through September.

A new rotation will feature rare texts, including portions of Isaiah, replacing fragments from Psalms, Numbers and Lamentations that were previously on display.

The rare Isaiah manuscript was copied by scribes around the 1st century AD and written in ancient Hebrew on leather, preserving portions of several chapters from one of the Bible's most influential prophetic books.

The Book of Isaiah is a major prophetic work that warns of judgment against sinful nations while offering promises of restoration and future hope. It also contains passages that Christians believe foreshadow the coming of a future Messiah.

The collection will also showcase other ancient writings, including an apocryphal account of Noah's birth, passages from the Jewish Book of Tobit and fragments of phylactery scrolls once worn during prayer.

Bobby Duke, the museum's chief curatorial officer, described the scrolls as the greatest archaeological discovery of all time.

'Before the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, our best Hebrew manuscripts were from about 1000 A.D.,' he told WORLD.'These all date back [from the] second century BC to the first century AD, so it shaves off…1,000 years of manuscript transmission.' (Daily Mail) Read More
