Mission Cry distributes Bibles through Cuba, despite persecution and rising crime
|
|
Cuba (MNN)—Mission Cry exists to evangelize the world by distributing free Christian literature to spiritually-needy people, sending Bibles around the world since 1956. In recent months, this has included sending their Spanish New Testament Bibles to Cuba, according to Mission Cry President Jason Woolford. “We haven’t got to go to Cuba a lot, but we’ve had the opportunity to send 10,000 Spanish Bibles into Cuba and the surrounding areas,” says Woolford. “We’ve had the chance to put them on a container in Florida, getting to Cuba and then starting that distribution.”
Cuba is number 26 on World Watch’s list of 50 countries where Christians face the most extreme persecution. Church leaders and Christian activists who criticize the Cuban regime can face interrogation, arrest, physical violence, and imprisonment; the government often refuses to register new churches, forcing many to operate illegally, which makes them vulnerable to fines, property confiscation, and demolition. “Our Mission Cry partner there on the ground, he has been beaten, he has been kidnapped and arrested, multiple times, and yet he continues to go back and distribute the word of God,” says Woolford. |
- Abba, we thank You for news of the Word of God being distributed in Cuba for thousands to come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! We ask You to place Your hedge of protection upon 'Mission Cry' and other ministries as they send New Testament Bibles overseas. Protect evangelists distributing Spanish Bibles within Cuban communities. We pray Your rescue upon our brothers and sisters in Christ being persecuted in Cuba and around the world! We declare in Jesus Name an unveiling of eyes, hearts and minds bringing a harvest of new believers into the Kingdom of God, all for His glorious plans and purposes! By the Blood of the Lamb, we pray- Amen and Amen.
- "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh." (Ezekiel 36:26)

Governor Glenn Youngkin Declares State of Emergency
|
|
|
Will Protect Hungry Virginians from Democrats Blocking Federal Funding for the Most Needy
|
|
|
The following is a statement from the Office of Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin:
|
|
|
RICHMOND, VA – Governor Glenn Youngkin today declared a state of emergency to provide emergency hunger relief for Virginians in response to the Democrat Shutdown causing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to run out starting November 1, 2025.
“The Democrat Shutdown will cause SNAP benefits to run out for over 850,000 Virginians in need starting November 1, 2025. I refuse to let hungry Virginians be used as ‘leverage’ by Congressional Democrats. I am declaring a State of Emergency due to the Democrat Shutdown to protect hungry Virginians in need,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin.
“This is an extraordinary action and is only necessary because of the shamelessness of Congressional Democrats – including every Democrat in our entire delegation- who refuse to pass a clean continuing resolution to open the Federal government. I once again call on Senator Mark Warner and Senator Tim Kaine to end this nonsense and vote to pass a clean CR.”
“The Commonwealth will provide food benefits until Congressional Democrats put the interests of Virginians in need ahead of their politics.”
“I thank President Trump and his Administration for their help as they continue to provide support to Virginians in need.”
The State of Emergency allows the Governor to expend emergency funds under sum sufficient authority to protect the health, welfare and safety of Virginians.

|
- Lord God, we rejoice at this news, which will bless the citizens of the State of Virginia. We ask that the governors of all the other 50 states in our nation (both Democrat and Republican) will follow his example so that the American people will not have to go hungry during this shutdown. In Your Name, Lord, we offer this prayer, amen and amen.
- "Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert."

Hurricane Melissa strengthens to Category 5 storm, heads for Jamaica: Updates
|
|
As Hurricane Melissa barreled toward Jamaica on Monday, Oct. 27, the nation braced for possibly its worst hurricane in recorded history, evacuating parts of its capital, closing airports and opening hundreds of shelters. Melissa, now a Category 5 storm, was expected to slam into the southern coast of Jamaica on Tuesday, Oct. 28, before approaching Cuba as a major hurricane and crossing the Bahamas, forecasters said. Melissa poses no threat to the United States.
The storm was centered about 145 miles south-southwest of Kingston, Jamaica, as of 2 p.m. ET, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm had maximum sustained winds of 175 mph and was moving west at a sluggish 3 mph.
Fueled by the warm waters of the Caribbean, the storm underwent explosive growth over the weekend, its wind speed doubling from 70 mph to over 140 mph. Melissa is expected to intensify further as it approaches Jamaica, forecasters said.
The storm could drop 30 inches of rain over Jamaica – an amount Dana Morris Dixon, the country's information minister, said "we've never heard before." On the coast, Melissa could kick up storm surge over 10 feet, forecasters said, warning of "catastrophic and life-threatening flash flooding."
"The time for preparation is all but over," Matthew Samuda, Jamaica's minister of water and environment, warned at a news conference. (USA Today) Read more here.

Father God, we come against all unnatural weather that could be artificially created to harm your creation Lord, and we break its powers in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that this hurricane neutralizes and ends up just being a light storm once it hits the islands, and it will cause no harm to the islands, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
“And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:39)

US, China Agree on Preliminary Trade Framework Before Trump–Xi Meeting
|
|
The United States and China have reached a preliminary deal on a range of trade issues, representatives from both sides said on Oct. 26, after two days of negotiations in Malaysia.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that a “very substantial framework” was established with Chinese trade negotiators in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that would avoid additional 100 percent tariffs on Chinese products.
“President Trump gave me a great deal of negotiating leverage with the threat of the 100 percent tariffs,” Bessent said in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Oct. 26. “I believe we’ve reached a very substantial framework that will avoid that and allow us to discuss many other things with the Chinese.”
He said he expected Beijing to offer “some kind of a deferral” on its imposition of sweeping rare earth export controls.
“They had threatened to put a global, export licensing regime, and I believe that they are going to delay that for a year while they reexamine it,” Bessent said in a later interview with ABC.
He mentioned that China agreed on “substantial agriculture purchases for U.S. farmers.”
Meanwhile, China’s commerce ministry issued a statement confirming that Vice Premier He Lifeng had reached an initial consensus after engaging in “frank, in-depth, and constructive” conversation with Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
The two sides discussed issues including port fees, the extension of the trade truce, fentanyl, agricultural products trade, and export controls, according to the statement published on the website of China’s Ministry of Commerce on Oct. 26. (The Epoch Times)

Trump says he'd be willing to extend Asia trip to meet with North Korea's Kim Jong Un

|
|
Trump previously made history as the first sitting US president to set foot in North Korea
|
|
|
President Donald Trump said he'd be willing to extend his trip abroad to Asia if North Korea's Kim Jong Un wants to meet with him.
"But I'd love to meet with him if he'd like to meet. I got along great with Kim Jong Un. I liked him, he liked me," Trump said during a gaggle on Air Force One.
When asked if he'd extend his trip in order to meet with the North Korean figure, Trump indicated that he would be willing to do so.
The president had previously noted during a prior gaggle aboard Air Force One that he would be open to meeting with Kim Jong Un. "I got along very well with him," he said of the foreign leader. (Fox News) Read more here.

- Israel National News
Israel announced on Monday evening that it received, via the Red Cross, a casket containing the remains of what is believed to be a deceased hostage, which was handed over to an IDF and ISA force inside the Gaza Strip.
From there, the casket was transferred to Israel, where it was received in a military ceremony with the participation of the IDF Chief Rabbi.
The casket was then transferred to the National Center of Forensic Medicine. Upon completion of the identification process, formal notification will be delivered to the family.
All of the hostages' families have been updated accordingly. (Read more)

2. Hamas evades returning hostages as Israel plans response - Israel Hayom
Israel is weighing a series of punitive steps against Hamas over its delay in returning the deceased hostages. Among the proposed measures are moving the yellow line westward, effectively expanding Israeli-controlled territory, re-entering the Netzarim Corridor to restrict Palestinian movement, limiting aid convoys and product imports, and continuing the closure of the Rafah Crossing.
These measures are being discussed in coordination with the United States, which has not ruled them out but requested more time before implementation. In talks between Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, Dermer warned of the erosion of American deterrence after Hamas defied US President Donald Trump's ultimatum.
The ultimatum demanding the return of all deceased hostages expired at midnight, but Hamas still holds 13 hostages who were killed in captivity. Reliable Israeli intelligence shared with the Americans indicates that Hamas has access to at least five additional deceased hostages. Other estimates put the figure at ten, including Lt. Hadar Goldin, who was killed during Operation Protective Edge in 2014, and Col. Asaf Hamami, commander of the IDF's southern brigade near the Gaza border, who was killed on Oct. 7. (Read more)

3. Jordan's King: International force in Gaza must maintain, not impose, peace
- i24 News
King Abdullah II of Jordan has cautioned that any international force deployed in Gaza under the ceasefire plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump should focus solely on "maintaining" peace, not "imposing" it.
In an interview with the BBC, the Hashemite monarch emphasized the importance of this distinction: “We hope it will be a peacekeeping mission, because if it is an enforcement mission, no one will want to get involved.”
Peacekeeping operations, according to the United Nations, operate under strict rules that limit the use of force to self-defense or protecting the mission’s mandate. In contrast, peace enforcement missions, requiring a Security Council resolution, may involve active military intervention. (Read more)

4. Syria demands return of the Golan Heights amid Arab pressure - Israel Hayom
Syria, backed by Turkey and several Arab countries, has launched a diplomatic campaign to gain international recognition of its sovereignty over the Golan Heights and to return the territory to its control. The move runs counter to ongoing security negotiations between Syria and Israel.
Israel annexed the Golan Heights by law in 1981 and considers it fully sovereign Israeli territory. That sovereignty was recognized by President Donald Trump during his first term, through a 2019 presidential proclamation. As a gesture of appreciation, the Israeli government announced the establishment of the community Trump Heights.
The current campaign was initiated by Syria's envoy to the United Nations, Ibrahim Olabi, in an aggressive speech to the UN Security Council on Friday. Olabi accused Israel of instigating military incidents, violating the post-Yom Kippur War disengagement agreement, and infringing on Syria's sovereignty. He called on the UN and the Security Council to take "decisive" action against Israeli operations on Syrian territory. (Read more)

1. Dem senators want answers from Witkoff on crypto assets, ties to powerful Emirati- JNS.org
Eight Democratic senators, led by Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), are demanding answers from Trump administration envoy Steve Witkoff about his financial dealings with U.S. President Donald Trump’s family and the government of the United Arab Emirates. A longtime friend of Trump’s, Witkoff is the special U.S. envoy for peace missions. He was previously a Middle East adviser and ran point on ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas.
The senators expressed “deep concern regarding potential conflicts of interest” over Witkoff’s retention of ownership of cryptocurrency assets tied to World Liberty Financial, a crypto venture launched last year by the Trump and Witkoff families.
A co-founder of the venture said in May that Witkoff was divesting, but Witkoff listed his ownership stake on his August financial disclosure forms. The senators asked Witkoff if he still has a financial interest in the venture or in any other businesses tied to Trump, and if he has received guidance or ethics waivers from the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. “Your failure to divest your ownership in these assets raises serious questions about your compliance with federal ethics laws and, more importantly, ability to serve the American people over your own financial interests,” the senators wrote. 2. Trump aims to clinch deal with China's Xi during Asia trip - Reuters
AIR FORCE ONE, Oct 25 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump will test his deal-making capabilities on a trip to Asia, a region battered by his trade policies, while doubts hang over his highly anticipated meeting with China's Xi Jinping.
Trump, who left Washington on Friday night, is set for a five-day trip to Malaysia, Japan and South Korea, his first to the region and longest journey abroad since taking office in January.
The Republican leader hopes to pile up trade, critical mineral and ceasefire deals before turning to the toughest challenge, a face-to-face with Xi on Thursday in South Korea.
Trump is also working to maintain the signature foreign policy achievement of his second term, a fragile ceasefire he helped to negotiate in the Israel-Gaza conflict, while the Russian war in Ukraine and a trade war with China continue. (Reuters) Read more

3. Venezuela's Maduro says US 'fabricating war' after it deployed huge warship - BBC
Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro has accused the US of "fabricating a new war", after it ordered the world's largest warship to be sent to the Caribbean. The USS Gerald R Ford can carry up to 90 aircraft and its deployment marks a massive increase in US firepower in the region.
The US has conducted 10 air strikes on vessels in the area as part of what it says is a war on drug traffickers.
US President Donald Trump has accused Maduro of being the leader of a drug-trafficking organisation, which he denies, and there are fears in Venezuela that the US military build-up is aimed at removing the long-time opponent of Trump from power.
The US is among many nations that do not recognise Maduro as Venezuela's legitimate leader, after the last election in 2024 was widely dismissed as neither free nor fair. Opposition tallies from polling stations showed its candidate had won by a landslide. (Read more)

Noach: A Flood of Grace and Faithfulness
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, October 27, 2025
With God grieving over humanity’s corruption, Genesis 6:9–11:32, paints a sobering picture of a world gone wicked. But amid the darkness, a single beam of light shone: “But Noach (Noah) found grace in the sight of ADONAI.” God’s righteous judgment came in the form of a flood, yet His mercy was revealed through an ark of salvation. Noah was instructed to build this ark to preserve his family and every kind of living creature. When the waters finally receded, God established a covenant and set a rainbow in the sky as a reminder of His promise. Yet humanity, still stubborn, rebelled again at the Tower of Babel, leading to their dispersion. From Shem’s line came Abram, a friend of God and father of nations.
Noah’s name itself carries a prophetic weight. In Hebrew, Noach comes from nacham, meaning “rest” or “comfort.” His father Lamekh said in Genesis 5:29, “This one will comfort us in our labor, in the hard work we do with our hands from the ground that ADONAI has cursed.” The sages of the Talmud even teach that Menachem—a word related to Noah’s name—is one of the names of Messiah. In that sense, Noah becomes a foreshadowing of the Savior who would bring true rest and lasting comfort to the world. As Noah delivered humanity from destruction through an ark, so the Messiah delivers those who trust (have faith) in Him from judgment, bringing them into eternal refuge. Read More

Scientists spot skyscraper-sized asteroid racing through solar system
|
|
|
The discovery, led by Carnegie Science astronomer Scott Sheppard, offers new insight into the dynamics of “twilight" asteroids that travel close to Earth
Astronomers have reportedly discovered a skyscraper-sized asteroid moving through our solar system at a near record-breaking pace.
The asteroid, named 2025 SC79, circles the sun once every 128 days, making it the second-fastest known asteroid orbiting in the solar system.
It was first observed by Carnegie Science astronomer Scott S. Sheppard Sept. 27, according to a statement from Carnegie Science.
The asteroid is the second known object with an orbit inside Venus, the statement said. It crosses Mercury’s orbit during its 128-day trip around the sun.
"Many of the solar system’s asteroids inhabit one of two belts of space rocks, but perturbations can send objects careening into closer orbits where they can be more challenging to spot," Sheppard said. "Understanding how they arrived at these locations can help us protect our planet and also help us learn more about solar system history."
The celestial body is now traveling behind the sun and will be invisible to telescopes for several months.
Sheppard's search for so-called "twilight" asteroids helps identify objects that could pose a risk of crashing into Earth, the statement said.
The work, which is partially funded by NASA, uses the Dark Energy Camera on the National Science Foundation’s Blanco 4-meter telescope to look for "planet killer" asteroids in the glare of the sun that could pose a danger to Earth. Read More
