New Guidance Lets Feds Share Faith Freely
|
|
|
The Trump administration issued new guidance on faith in the federal workplace, expanding upon a memo issued earlier in July that offered accommodations for federal employees who have religious needs. According to the new guidance, sent to agency heads by Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor, “The Federal workforce should be a welcoming place for Federal employees who practice a religious faith. Allowing religious discrimination in the Federal workplace violates the law. It also threatens to adversely impact recruitment and retention of highly-qualified employees of faith.”
Conduct that must not result in “disciplinary or corrective action” includes the display of religious items, such as Bibles, artwork, jewelry, and other materials, religious expressions, and the attempt to “persuade others of the correctness of their own religious views, provided that such efforts are not harassing in nature. Employees may also encourage their coworkers to participate in religious expressions of faith, such as prayer, to the same extent that they would be permitted to encourage coworkers participate in other personal activities,” Kupor explained. Two State Solution Means Our End says Israel's FM

“A two-state solution? A Palestinian state in the heart of Israel would indeed be a solution—for those who seek to eliminate us," Gideon Sa'ar said.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar told a visiting delegation of American journalists on Wednesday that the establishment of a Palestinian state would pose an existential threat to Israel.
The delegation, led by Newsmax founder and CEO Christopher Ruddy, is visiting Israel as part of the Foreign Ministry’s public diplomacy initiative.
“A two-state solution? A Palestinian state in the heart of Israel would indeed be a solution—for those who seek to eliminate us. We will not let this happen,” Sa’ar said during a briefing in Jerusalem.
He argued that creating a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with its capital in eastern Jerusalem, would endanger Israel’s major population centers and leave the country with “indefensible” boundaries.
Sa’ar drew a sharp contrast between Israel’s geographic realities and those of larger countries. “If large countries like France and Canada want to establish a Palestinian state in their territory, they can—they have enough territory. Federal Agents, Troops to Start 24/7 Patrol in Washington; White House
|

The effort will include deploying more than 400 National Guard troops around the capital from Wednesday night.
President Donald Trump will direct federal agents to patrol Washington around the clock, seven days a week, the White House announced on Aug. 13, amid efforts to reduce crime in the nation’s capital.
Trump told reporters earlier on Wednesday that federal control of the Washington Metropolitan Police Department should extend past 30 days. “We’re going to be asking for extensions on that—long-term extensions,” he said at the Kennedy Center. “You can’t have 30 days.” Later, a White House official said that the president is using a “whole of government effort” to improve public safety in compliance with Trump’s March 28 executive order, entitled “Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful.”

Trump Warns of ‘Very Severe Consequences’ If Putin Refuses to End Ukraine War After Alaska Summit

WASHINGTON—U.S. President Donald Trump warned on Aug. 13 that there will be “very severe consequences” if Russian President Vladimir Putin refuses to end the war in Ukraine after their summit in Alaska on Aug. 15. “There will be,” he said when asked whether Putin would face consequences if he refused to end the war in Ukraine after the Alaska summit.
When asked about the nature of those consequences, Trump declined to comment. “I don’t have to say,” he responded. “There will be very severe consequences.”
Trump also said he wanted a second meeting, with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, soon after the Alaska summit. The U.S. president said the first meeting with Putin will set the stage for a follow-up meeting.
If it goes well, Trump said, a second meeting including Zelenskyy could happen quickly. “If the first one goes OK, we'll have a quick second one. I would like to do it almost immediately,” Trump said. He made the comments while visiting the Kennedy Center on Aug. 13.
Trump’s comments came after he and U.S. Vice President JD Vance joined a virtual call on the morning of Aug. 13 with Zelenskyy to discuss the upcoming Alaska summit. The meeting, hosted by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, also included leaders from several other European Union and NATO countries.
Trump described the virtual call in positive terms. “We had a very good call. He was on the call. President Zelenskyy was on the call. I would rate it a 10, you know, very, very friendly,” he said.
Trump and Putin are scheduled to meet face-to-face on Aug. 15 in Alaska to hold talks on ending the more than three-year war in Ukraine.
“We really hope that a cease-fire, an immediate cease-fire, will be one main issue during this meeting. President Trump has been talking about it,” Zelenskyy said during a news conference after the virtual meeting with Trump. “He will tell me about all the results, if there are any results, and then we will discuss our steps together.” (The Epoch Times)

Much could be decided regarding the continuation of a three-year war which has already claimed the lives of some reported one million soldiers and civilians...and the future geographic and social structure of Ukraine.
This summit will likely be concluded by the time many of you in the U.S. and Canada wake up tomorrow.

- Father God, so much rests on this meeting in Alaska and we pray that You would be in charge of all that occurs there. We speak out that President Trump will carry with him the very heart and desires from You, Lord, as the talks progress. We pray he hears from You and knows how to respond to each topic as it arises. Father, we pray that You would prepare the heart of Mr. Putin to desire peace by ceasing to wage war against this smaller and less prepared country. We pray that Mr. Putin will heed Your desire for peace on earth and that the destruction of life ends. We declare that he will have the fear of the Lord upon him to comply with the plans that President Trump has prepared, with Your guidance, so that Your plans become his plans. We decree and declare that the threats of tariffs or other things, as yet unnamed, will bring him willingly to agree to stop his aggression. May the Spirit of the Lord dominate this meeting and bring about the desired results that all can agree to. In the name of Jesus, we bind up the enemy from laying any traps for President Trump and say that all plans to disrupt the meeting will fall apart. We further bless this meeting to produce other meetings with Mr. Zelenskyy to solidify the peace agreement.

1. Cleared for publication: IDF reserve officer found dead in northern forest

It has been confirmed that an IDF reserve officer, from the mobility unit of the 99th Reserve Division currently fighting in Gaza, was found dead in the Switzerland Forest near Ramat Poria, with suspicions that he took his own life.
The officer, a resident of Tiberias, was on active reserve duty at the time and will therefore be recognized as a fallen IDF soldier.
The IDF stated that following the incident, an investigation was opened by the Military Police Investigations Unit. Upon completion, the findings will be forwarded to the Military Advocate General for review.
This marks the 17th soldier to take their own life this year. (Read more)

2. Israeli Spy Chief Visits Qatar to Revive Gaza Talks - Algemeiner
The head of Israel’s Mossad spy agency visited Qatar on Thursday to revive Gaza ceasefire talks, according to multiple reports.
Two Israeli officials told Reuters about the meeting, which was the most high-level talks between Israel and mediators since negotiations broke down last month.
David Barnea met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani to discuss the Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal, according to Axios, which reported that the head of Israel’s national intelligence agency stressed in his meetings that the Israeli cabinet’s decision to take military control of Gaza City is not a bluff. Israel is prepared to proceed with the plan if there is no progress in negotiations to reach a ceasefire and hostage-release deal, a source familiar with the meeting told the outlet.
The Israeli publication Ynet also said in a report that a private jet linked to the Mossad landed in Doha on Thursday, fueling speculation that Barnea arrived in the Qatari capital for the first time since negotiations faltered three weeks ago. (Read more)

3. Israel rejects NGOs' claim of Gaza blockade, blames Hamas for aid exploitation

Israel rejected the claim made by more than 100 international aid organizations that it is blocking the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, COGAT (Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories) said in a social media post on Thursday.
“We reject false claims made by over 100 international organizations alleging Israel blocks humanitarian aid to Gaza,” COGAT stated.
They added that “The reality is entirely the opposite of the claims that were published,” saying that Israel facilitates aid entry while Hamas exploits the situation to control the civilian population. (Read more)

4. Smotrich says he’ll okay 3,000 homes east of Jerusalem, ‘burying idea of Palestinian state’ - Times of Israel
Far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced on Wednesday that he plans to approve tenders to build more than 3,000 housing units in the highly controversial E1 settlement project between Jerusalem and Ma’ale Adumim in the West Bank, saying the move “buries the idea of a Palestinian state.”
He said Thursday that the plan is backed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The project has been frozen for decades amid fierce opposition from the international community, who fear the new settlement neighborhood would prevent the establishment of a contiguous, viable Palestinian state. (Read more)

5. Egypt to train 5,000 Palestinian police officers to restore order in Gaza

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Wednesday that Cairo intends to train 5,000 Palestinian police officers to help restore order in Gaza after the war.
In an interview with Egyptian media, Abdelatty noted that the training has already begun. He recently said that, at this stage, hundreds of officers are undergoing the training program. According to the senior Egyptian official, Cairo has received vetted lists of names for those currently training at military camps in Egypt, in coordination with Jordan. The aim, he said, is to ensure the officers have no criminal records or ties to terrorism.
Abdelatty said the deployment of the officers and the rehabilitation of Gaza after the war would be carried out under the auspices of the Palestinian Authority prime minister.

1. Over 20,000 Arrested In Iran On Suspicion Of Espionage During War With Israel - ZeroHedge
Iranian police arrested around 21,000 people on various charges during the 12-day war with Israel, Iran's national police force reported on Tuesday. According to local media, more than 7,850 public tips were received during the fighting, leading to the arrests.
The spokesperson of the Iranian police, Saed Montazer al-Mahdi, noted that the Iranian Cyber Police (FATA) handled 5,700 cybercrime cases, including internet fraud, unauthorized withdrawals, and a cyber attack on the Nobitex exchange.
He said 2,774 “illegal citizens” were detained, with 261 people arrested on suspicion of espionage and 172 detained for unauthorized filming – some for filming “sensitive centers” around the country. Examinations of the suspects' mobile phones led to the opening of 30 special security cases.
Speaking on the Evin Prison incident, Mahdi stated that police arrested 127 “security and political” inmates during an escape attempt, including two of whom were dressed in firefighter uniforms. Fars News Agency reported on July 25 that more than 700 people had been detained over the previous 12 days on charges of “security cooperation with Israel.”

We pray that You would raise up resistance to this violation of basic human rights from the citizens the leadership is abusing. It's slick. It's polished. And it's deeply dangerous.

- Father God, this is a strong warning to Your people that we should not be deceived by consulting the counsel that is not of You or interact with them at all. We pray that those who are seeking you in sincerity and for the truth of the Gospel will not be deceived into thinking that these robots speak for You. 3. Trump Grants 90-Day Extension on China Tariff Deadline – Discern Report
President Donald Trump has extended a 90-day tariff pause on China. With only hours until the temporary agreement’s Aug. 12 deadline, Trump signed an executive order to allow the United States and China to continue trade negotiations.
Since a two-day meeting in Stockholm between the world’s two largest economies in late July, both sides have floated the idea of extending the deal to allow for further talks.
Earlier in the day, Trump did not say whether he would approve a 90-day extension to the U.S.–China tariff pause, potentially leaving the door open for tariffs to return to near-embargo levels.
“We’ll see what happens,” the president told reporters at an Aug. 11 press briefing.

4. FDA could make it harder to get young kids a COVID shot - The Hill
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering revoking the authorization of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for healthy children younger than 5 years old, a move that would add another barrier for parents who want to vaccinate healthy children ahead of the respiratory virus season.
Pfizer’s three-dose shot for children between 6 months and 5 years old has long been available under an emergency use authorization (EUA). But according to the company, the FDA is weighing ending that authorization.
“We are currently in discussions with the agency on potential paths forward and have requested that the EUA for this age group remain in place for the 2025-2026 season,” Pfizer told The Hill. “It is important to note that these deliberations are not related to the safety and efficacy of the vaccine which continues to demonstrate a favorable profile,” the company added.
Pfizer expects the FDA to approve its vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 with the same limitations as Moderna and Novavax. (Read more)

The Poison Ivy League

The Ivy League loves to preach from its ivory towers on climate, gender theory, race, and geopolitics. In FY 2024 alone, these elite universities hauled in roughly $6.4 billion in federal funding, most of it for research that could just as easily be done by private companies or public universities without billion-dollar endowments. Harvard’s endowment tops $53 billion, yet taxpayers still fund its labs. The federal government treats academic research like a public good, ignoring the fact that these schools have morphed into ideological fortresses. Research is valuable, no doubt. But when other sources are available and just as capable, why feed arrogance and activism that has essentially created dire problems worldwide?
In 2022 alone, Ivy League schools took in $1.8 billion just for overhead—the indirect costs of running their lavish operations. That has nothing to do with science. It’s similar to funding Planned Parenthood. The money, no matter how it is budgeted, keeps the lights on. The argument is that elite schools are best equipped to handle high-risk, long-term research. But what they’re really good at is winning grants, not solving national problems. Meanwhile, smaller schools, public universities, and HBCUs struggle to compete. This system is rigged to feed prestige, not performance. And let’s not ignore the ideological imbalance: faculty donations overwhelmingly go to leftist Democrats, and DEI bureaucracies abound—funded in part by taxpayer-backed grants. We’re underwriting institutions that often push agendas hostile to traditional American values. Read More

Report: Left-Wing ‘Shadow Government’ Weaponizes Bureaucracy to Push ‘Woke’ Policies in Red States

Republicans and conservative activists have made much progress over the years combating the progressive agenda, from major Supreme Court decisions to nationwide boycotts. But a new report is shedding light on the “shadow government” promoting “woke” policies in red states, threatening to undo what conservatives have achieved. According to the State Leadership Initiative (SLI), professional associations and non-government organizations (NGOs) have been quietly shaping policy at the state level, injecting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), environmental, social, and governance (ESG), and LGBT initiatives into state-level regulations and standards.
" . . . the organizations that set standards and regulations and draft legislation for critical state government functions are tools of the left. That translates to left-wing policies becoming the norm across state governments, regardless of whether Democrats or Republicans govern the state," stated Noah Wall, founder and president of the State Leadership Initiative (SLI). "These groups are part of a broader ecosystem, backed by billionaire-funded NGOs and progressive think tanks that amplify their reach,” SLI warned in its report. The conservative-led organization continued, “Grant funding, often tied to these progressive policy requirements, pressures red state agencies to comply, even when it contradicts the conservative mandates of their constituents. This network operates with sophistication, embedding itself in state bureaucracies and eroding the federalist principles that protect state sovereignty.”
In comments to The Washington Stand, FRC Action Director Matt Carpenter said, “Anyone familiar with routine yard work knows pulling up weeds is not a single task, it is ongoing. A weed will pop up in the same place you pulled one up by the roots the previous week.” He continued, “The same goes for the woke agenda, rooting it out with executive orders must be done, but that’s not the end of the story. Congress must get involved, and federal agencies responsible for doling out grants to these NGOs must get involved, voters must get involved to ensure the anti-woke movement continues, and so on.”
“This report serves as a lesson for conservatives; one election does not change a country. Anti-Trump Protests in D.C. Looking for Paid Activists

President Donald Trump’s decision to take federal control of Washington, D.C. in response to violent crime rates has sparked backlash from Democrats. Much of that backlash has come from elected officials, like District Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) and congressional Democrats — but some protestors have taken to the streets, declaring the president’s crackdown a symptom of fascism. However, these protests may not be at all organic, according to a new report, and may just be paid activists.
Crowds on Demand CEO Adam Swart reported that crowd rental requests in D.C. have spiked “roughly 400% compared to the same period in 2024.” Swart said that most of the protests seeking protestors “are focused on opposing Trump’s policies in Washington and raising alarms about government overreach.” He explained, “Most people don’t know this, but many protesters are literally on the payroll — Capitol Hill staffers from both parties are often expected to show up at rallies and protests on their own time.” Swart added, “So yes, most attendees are being paid or are there because it’s part of their job. That doesn’t mean they don’t support the cause — but it does mean these crowds aren’t as ‘organic’ as they appear on TV.”
The Free D.C. Project staged a protest on Monday, with attendees carrying signs reading, “No National Guard!” and “Trump Must Go Now!” According to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s Hailey Grace Gomez, shortly after the protest against Trump’s crime crackdown marched by, a man on 12th Street NW was shot and killed. The Free D.C. Project, which also advocates statehood for D.C., encouraged people on social media to “get loud” by going into the streets every night and banging pots and pans.
According to an analysis from the New York Post, the two organizations funding the Free D.C. Project — Community Change and Community Change Action — are themselves funded by left-wing “dark money.” Between 2020 and 2023, Community Change and Community Change Action received $12.6 million from Open Society Foundations and nearly $2 million from the Tides Foundation, both funded by Hungarian-born progressive billionaire George Soros, in addition to $5.6 million from the Arabella Advisors network. Community Change was also given $1 million by the Democratic Party-affiliated Future Forward USA Action political action committee (PAC), which was a part of promoting ex-Vice President Kamala Harris’s failed 2024 presidential campaign.

- Hooray and Hallelujah! Praise God for the movement to stop crime and prosecute
the guilty in D.C., and hopefully many other blue cities. This ethos has been
disappearing from our land of late, and it fills our hearts with joy to overflowing to
see that the tide is beginning to turn in protection of life, limb and property.
Thank You for the D.C. police who are now released to do their jobs, that the
National Guard is in place to help the local force gain control of crime and
criminals, and courts have been cautioned to enforce the laws already on the
books! We pray for angels and protection of those front line officers, wisdom in
knowing how to treat each situation, and a very high success rate in stopping
crime before it starts.
We pray for (both) parents to raise their children in the fear and instruction of the
Lord. We will take back our nation’s cities when we take back the responsibility
for parenting and parent-hood. We believe that as the Family and a sense of
community is basically restored, there will no longer be as strong an attraction
for teens to gang membership. Lord God, may we truly love our neighbors as
ourselves and hear Your calling to serve.
We pray for the homeless to find You and, for those who help them, to find the
key to each person’s heart and mind in assisting their restoration. Dear Jesus,
please restore body, mind and spirit,.
May this drive by President Trump to restore and protect citizens, property and
visitors to our nation’s capitol be greeted with rejoicing and cooperation with
Congress, the Courts and the population.

Pastor Jack Hibbs, a prominent minister in California, urged fellow pastors in his state not to shirk from civic engagement as they face what he implied is a demonic assault from their own state government.
“I come before you guys today as a native Californian,” Hibbs, who serves as senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, told those gathered at Turning Point USA’s recent Faith Forward Pastors Summit last week. “I have been fighting for this state for 35 years, but I want to speak directly to the California pastor that’s in the room today,” he said.
“This state is the greatest state in this nation, and that’s why I think it is the absolute target of the enemy. The greatest innovations, the greatest achievements, some of the greatest movements in the Church have happened in California.” He added, “Satan knows this, and when I look across the landscape of the American pulpit, the California pulpit, if we don’t get this next argument right in showing up during the battle, then I don’t know how it’s going to go for California.”
Reiterating one of his sermons that made headlines earlier this month, warning Christians in California they might need to flee the state, Hibbs urged fellow California pastors to join him at the state Capitol in Sacramento on Aug. 19 in his planned appeal to Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom against Assembly Bill 495.
The proposed state legislation purports to address “unique challenges faced by immigrant families” under the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts. But Hibbs has argued it poses a threat to child welfare by potentially empowering a “caregiver” who might not be a family member to make critical medical decisions for a child and effectively kidnap them.
During his speech at the summit, Hibbs warned the bill could set a precedent that “will invade 49 other states.”
Hibbs went on to reference fellow event speaker Eric Metaxas, who immediately preceded him and spoke about the importance of Christians living out their faith boldly by not shying away from speaking out regarding the gospel’s implications on critical political and cultural issues.
“If I hear one more word, ‘I just preach the gospel, brother,’ you need to repent of that!” Hibbs exclaimed. “Because you’re supposed to preach the gospel, that’s a given. We are called to make disciples of those who we preach the gospel to. We are pastors.”
“On August 19, I’m asking you to join me. I’m going to go to the Capitol, and I’m going to appeal to Newsom to reject this bill,” he said. (The Washington Stand)

515-mile-long lightning bolt that spanned 5 states is the longest on record

A lightning "megaflash" that zipped across five U.S. states has set a new record for the longest ever detected.
A lightning bolt that spanned five states in the Great Plains has set a new record for the longest lightning bolt ever recorded, the World Meteorological Organization has confirmed.
The "megaflash" zipped across 515 miles (829 kilometers) from eastern Texas through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas to near Kansas City, Missouri, in seven seconds, beating the previous record of 477 miles (768 km).
The flash occurred on Oct. 22, 2017, but it was too long to be fully measured by ground-based sensors at the time. Now, a new study that used data from a geostationary satellite has finally documented the massive scope of the bolt. The researchers published their findings Thursday (July 31) in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.
"It is likely that even greater extremes still exist, and that we will be able to observe them as additional high-quality lightning measurements accumulate over time," study senior author Randall Cerveny, a professor of geographical sciences at Arizona State University, said in a statement.
Exactly how lightning gets its initial spark is still contested. But scientists know it arises when electrons pool in one region of a storm cloud, thus creating an ionized path in the air between which the electrons can flow from regions of negative to positive charge.
