Costco Decision to Not Sell Abortion Pill is a Huge Pro-Life Victory
|

|
Costco said it will not dispense the abortion drug mifepristone at its pharmacies, delivering a major victory to pro-life advocates, Bloomberg reported Thursday. The wholesale giant said it will not sell the abortion pill at its more than 500 pharmacy locations across the country, according to Bloomberg. The move follows pressure from pro-life investors and conservative groups that had formally asked Costco and other grocery chains not to dispense the abortion drug last year. “We commend Costco’s clear message that it won’t be complicit in the abortion industry’s agenda to sell dangerous abortion drugs,” Emily Erin Davis, vice president of communications at SBA Pro-Life America, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “We urge all concerned Americans to continue advocating with their voices and wallets by avoiding pharmacies that actively harm women and children. And we urge chains like Walgreens, CVS and others to follow Costco’s lead and avoid getting in the life-ending business of abortion.”
The company attributed the decision to the lack of consumer demand for mifepristone and did not comment on whether outside advocacy influenced its stance, Bloomberg reported. Medication abortions, however, currently account for nearly two-thirds of abortions performed each year. “It’s a very significant win and it’s one we hope to build on this coming year,” said Michael Ross, legal counsel for the Alliance Defending Freedom’s (ADF) corporate engagement team, according to Bloomberg. The ADF was part of a coalition of pro-life groups, firms and financial advisors that sent letters last August to Costco, Walmart, Kroger and other retailers urging them against selling chemical abortion drugs at their pharmacies. Trump calls White House talks 'very good, early step' toward Russia-Ukraine peace: Here's what's next
|
|
President Donald Trump described his White House negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders as "a very good, early step" toward ending the nearly four-year-old Russia-Ukraine war, announcing that he has already spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin about arranging a direct meeting with Zelenskyy.
Trump said the group of world leaders held discussions on security guarantees for Ukraine, with commitments coming primarily from European nations "in coordination with the United States" in a statement on Truth Social after the meetings.
"Everyone is very happy about the possibility of PEACE for Russia/Ukraine," Trump said, adding that Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff are now leading follow-up talks with Moscow and Kyiv.

Trump Assures No US Boots on the Ground as Part of Ukraine Security Guarantees
|
|
There will be no U.S. boots on the ground in Ukraine to enforce an eventual armistice between Kyiv and Moscow, President Donald Trump assured Americans on Aug. 19.
Zelenskyy has repeatedly asked Ukraine’s base of international supporters for security assurances as part of an eventual peace process to end the war. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has staunchly opposed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) extending membership to Ukraine and expanding the alliance’s presence along Russia’s Black Sea border.
“[Ukraine is] not going to be a part of NATO, but we’ve got the European nations, and they‘ll front-load it, and they’ll have some of them: France and Germany, a couple of them, UK—they want to have, you know, boots on the ground,” he said.
As the discussion continued, Fox News host Charlie Hurt asked Trump directly to confirm there will be no U.S. troops involved in this potential security umbrella for Ukraine.

Bessent says tariff revenue could help pay down the nation's $37.2T debt
|
|
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Tuesday that the Trump administration is weighing plans to apply part of the tariff revenue toward lowering the national debt.
"I think at a point we're going to be able to do it," Bessent said during an interview with CNBC, adding that he and President Donald Trump were "laser-focused on paying down the debt."
"I think that we're going to bring down the deficit-to-GDP, we will start paying down debt, and then at a point that can be used as an offset for the American people," he said.
The nation's debt, which is the amount of money the U.S. owes its creditors, is nearing $37.2 trillion as of Aug. 18, according to the Treasury Department.
The U.S. collected more than $29 billion in tariff revenues in July, the highest monthly total to date so far this year. According to the Treasury Department’s latest "Customs and Certain Excise Taxes" data, released on Aug. 15, total tariff revenues have reached $156.4 billion. (Fox Business) Read more here

New York Woman Was in DC Attending Far-Left Anti-Trump Rallies Before Her Arrest for Threatening to Disembowel and Murder Trump

On Monday, US Attorney For the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro announced the arrest of an Indiana/New York woman who traveled from New York to Washington DC to assassinate President Trump.
Nathalie Rose Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested in the District of Columbia on Saturday, August 16, and charged in connection with making a series of threats on social media in which she threatened to kill President Trump.

1. IDF to mobilize 60,000 reservists for Gaza City operation - Israel National News
The defense establishment is intensifying preparations for the next stage of the ground maneuver to conquer Gaza City, in accordance with the Cabinet’s directives.
On Tuesday evening, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir presented Defense Minister Israel Katz with a detailed operational plan, which includes the mobilization of up to 60,000 additional reservists - on top of the 20,000 already called up.
Initial mobilization orders are expected to be issued starting Wednesday. However, the IDF emphasized that these are not immediate call-ups. Reservists will be given approximately two weeks to prepare, allowing for an orderly deployment and gradual integration into operational frameworks.
“The goal is to integrate the forces in a coordinated manner to ensure long-term operational stability,” a military source explained. (Read more)

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu upbraided French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, charging that the latter’s move to recognize a Palestinian state fuels antisemitism, drawing a combative response from Paris.
Late last month, Macron said France would formally recognize a Palestinian state during a UN meeting in September, drawing a swift rebuke from Israel.

3. Activists cross border aiming to establish settlement in Syria; IDF brings them back - Times of Israel
A group of settler activists, along with their young children, crossed the border into Syria earlier today in an attempt to establish a new settlement.
The military says troops were dispatched to the scene, across from the border town of Alonei Habashan, after several civilian vehicles were seen crossing into Syria.
“IDF troops at the scene returned the civilians safely to the territory of the State of Israel after a short time,” the military says, adding that they were called in for questioning by police.
“The IDF emphasizes that this is a grave incident that constitutes a criminal offense and endangers the public and IDF troops,” the army adds. (Read more)

4. Netanyahu pens letter accusing Australia's Albanese of 'rewarding Hamas,' not fighting antisemitism - Jerusalem Post
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had penned a letter to his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, for failing to confront antisemitism in his country and for "rewarding Hamas terrorism" by choosing to recognize a Palestinian state, according to Sky News Australia.
Netanyahu said in the letter that he recommended the Australian leader to follow in the footsteps of US President Donald Trump to combat antisemitism and to "replace weakness with action."
Netanyahu then demanded that Albanese have a change in policy in combating antisemitism in his country, and that he "does so by a clear date: the Jewish New Year, September 23, 2025.” (Read more)

5. 2,150-year-old Greek trade weight returns to Israel after looting

A rare 2,150-year-old lead weight bearing the name of a Hellenistic-era trade official has been recovered in Jerusalem, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) announced on Tuesday.
The artifact, preserved in excellent condition, was seized from an antiquities shop following an undercover operation by the IAA’s Theft Prevention Unit.
The weight, dated to 148/7 BCE, carries a Greek inscription reading: “Heliodorus son of Apollonios, Agoranomos.”
The title identifies him as an agoranomos — the municipal official responsible for regulating weights and measures and preventing fraud in commerce. (Read more)

I've heard from numerous sources that one person who has the president's ear when it comes to the Russia-Ukraine war is First Lady Melania Trump. She, like her husband, wants peace for the entire world, and if she can do something to help make that happen, she will. On Friday, in an attempt to appeal to Vladimir Putin's heart — assuming he has one — Mrs. Trump sent a personally written letter to the Russian president via her husband. Donald Trump reportedly hand-delivered the letter to Putin during their historic three-hour meeting in Anchorage, Alaska, and Putin supposedly read it out loud to the delegations from Russia and the United States immediately upon receiving it.

2. RFK Jr., Hegseth face off in impressive pullup, pushup Pentagon showdown

Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited the Department of Defense to challenge Secretary Pete Hegseth to a pullup and pushup competition, dubbed the "Pete and Bobby challenge," as the Trump administration leaders encourage Americans to drop "fat" for "fit."
"We had our big Pete and Bobby challenge today, 50 pull ups. 100 push-ups. You try to get under five minutes," Kennedy said while wearing his typical gym attire of jeans and a T-shirt.
The challenge comes as Kennedy unleashes the "Make America Healthy Again" movement, which includes promoting that Americans eat whole foods versus processed meals, and Hegseth rallies the U.S. military to be the most fit and well-equipped to handle defending the nation.
"We got close [to 5 minutes]. I was about 5:25," Hegseth said in the video. "You were right behind me," he added referring to the HHS chief, who is 71 years old.

3. CNN Is Outraged that Oklahoma Wants Leftist Teachers to Pass PragerU’s Common Sense Assessment to Get a Job - Breitbart
Educators who have relocated to Oklahoma from radical leftist states must now pass an assessment designed by conservative organization PragerU to earn a certificate that allows them to teach in Oklahoma schools. The move is meant to ensure the state is successfully weeding out left-wing agendas in education. Unsurprisingly, CNN and leftists throughout the country are outraged at what they consider an “insult” to the teaching profession.
While CNN and Democrat leaders are freaking out over the notion that a conservative organization could have even the slightest influence over what happens in a school, the test developed by PragerU simply aims to ensure teachers are “not pushing a left-wing agenda on to our kids,” Oklahoma’s top education official said.
“Every teacher that teaches in the state of Oklahoma will have to have a certificate that goes through my office,” Ryan Walters, the state’s superintendent for public instruction, told CNN.
Abba, this is such a breath of fresh air within the education arena. For far too long, the well-indoctrinated social justice educators have had free rein to manipulate, coerce and threaten children that come from a God-fearing home and lifestyle and it is high time for a full stop to that nonsense, in Jesus'' name. 4. Texas Democrats End 2-Week Walkout, Setting Up Vote on Congressional Map Favoring Republicans - The Epoch Times
Texas Democrats ended a dramatic two-week walkout over congressional redistricting, clearing the way for Republicans to pass a map redrawn in their favor as soon as Aug. 20.
The state Democrats announced that they would return after California Democrats moved forward with plans to redraw their congressional map to counter any GOP gains in Texas.
On Aug. 15, Gov. Greg Abbott called a second special session as the first one ended.
“Delinquent House Democrats ran away from their responsibility to pass crucial legislation to benefit the lives of Texans,” Abbott said in a statement.
“We will not back down from this fight. That’s why I am calling them back today to finish the job.”

Two of the suspects involved in the brutal beating of two white people in Cincinnati have been freed from jail after a so-called judge cut them a massive break.
The Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office revealed to Fox News that 24-year-old DeKyra Vernon and 25-year-old Aisha Devaughn were released from the Hamilton County Jail on Friday following an arraignment the previous day.
The move is even more infuriating when one considers the fact that both Vernon and Devaughn have been charged with three counts of alleged felonious assault, three counts of assault, and two counts of aggravated rioting.
These two were ACTIVE participants in the beatdown, not some bystanders. Yet now they are back on the streets. (Read more)

6. Major Win for England Anti-Mass Migration Protests as Judge Orders Epping Migrant Hotel Shut Down - Breitbart
Anti-mass migration protesters won a significant victory as a judge ruled that a controversial migrant hotel in Epping be shut down and the alleged asylum seeker residents must be removed.
A High Court judge in Britain ruled in favour of the Epping Forest District Council to bar the Home Office from using the Bell Hotel in Essex as accommodation for alleged asylum seekers and to remove them by September 12th.
According to the BBC, Mr Justice Eyre decided on the case after shutting down a last-minute attempt by Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to quash the challenge brought by the council because it would “substantially impact” the government’s ability to house asylum seekers in Britain.
The use of the hotel for migrants had sparked local outrage after an illegal alien from Ethiopia had allegedly sexually assaulted a local 14-year-old girl just days after breaking into the country and being put up by the government in the Bell. (Read more)

Democrats and their media allies are in full outrage over President Trump’s federal intervention in Washington, D.C., painting it as racially motivated. Congressman James Clyburn (D-SC) told MSNBC that Trump’s takeover of the D.C. police and National Guard deployment was invoking “Jim Crow 2.0.”. This ignores a glaring fact: Jim Crow laws were the creation of Democrats in the post-Civil War South, used to oppress Black citizens for over a century after Lincoln freed the slaves. Now, as then, the accusation is political theater. It’s the same script Democrats ran in the 1980s when Ronald Reagan cracked down on crime and prostitution near the White House.
The catalyst for Trump’s move came in his August 11 memorandum: “The local government of the District of Columbia has lost control of public order and safety… as evidenced by the two embassy staffers who were murdered in May, the Congressional intern fatally shot a short distance from the White House in June, and the Administration staffer beaten by a violent mob days ago.” Trump called the situation “a point of national disgrace,” noting that citizens, tourists, and staff cannot live peacefully in the nation’s capital. His duty, he said, is to ensure the safety of the federal government, its workers, and the city itself. These aren’t idle claims. In 2024, D.C. recorded a homicide rate of 27.54 per 100,000—higher than any U.S. state—plus the highest vehicle theft rate in the country at 842.4 per 100,000, more than triple the national average. Hawaii's Kilauea volcano is on the verge of erupting again
|

|
HONOLULU (AP) — Lava shoots high into the sky. Molten rock erupts from two vents simultaneously. The nighttime sky glows red and orange, reflecting the lava oozing across a summit crater.
Scientists expect Kilauea volcano to again gush lava in the coming days for the 31st time since December as the mountain lives up to its identity of one of the world’s most active volcanoes.
A few lucky residents and visitors will have a front row view at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. If the past is a guide, hundreds of thousands more will be watching popular livestreams made possible by three camera angles set up by the U.S. Geological Survey.
Whenever she gets word the lava is back, Park Service volunteer Janice Wei hustles to shoot photos and videos of Halemaumau Crater — which Native Hawaiian tradition says is the home to the volcano goddess Pele. She said when the molten rock shoots high like a fountain it sounds like a roaring jet engine or crashing ocean waves. She can feel its heat from over a mile away.
“Every eruption feels like I am sitting in the front row at nature’s most extraordinary show,” Wei said in an email.
Kilauea is on Hawaii Island, the largest of the Hawaiian archipelago. It’s about 200 miles (320 kilometers) south of the state’s largest city, Honolulu, which is on Oahu. Read More
