Kirk Cameron Leads Children’s Story Hour at Library of Congress: ‘A Fresh Breeze of Liberty Is Blowing’

The significance of holding a children’s story hour event at the Library of Congress is not lost on outspoken Christian actor Kirk Cameron, who has become a conservative face of the rising culture war in the United States. He says Saturday’s event, attended by hundreds and organized in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education, is “indicative of a very exciting change in the direction of the wind. There is a fresh sea breeze of liberty and opportunity that is blowing across the land for families to get back to the values that made America great,” Cameron, who starred in the 1980s sitcom “Growing Pains,” told The Christian Post. “This year, we were invited by the Trump administration and the Department of Education to come to the world’s largest library, the ultimate library, the Library of Congress, to teach kids the truth about love, faith, and hope.”
The event comes more than three years after the 54-year-old actor accused over 50 libraries throughout the country of rejecting his requests to host readings of his faith-based children’s book, “As You Grow.”The book teaches about the Fruit of the Spirit. After Cameron and his Christian publisher, Brave Books, pushed back, several libraries ultimately conceded and allowed the children’s story hour event to take place. See You At The Library, a national grassroots movement founded by Cameron and Brave Books, partnered with the Education Department’s Center for Faith to host the children’s story hour event at the Library of Congress. The actor invited the children to come on stage as he told jokes and retold classic fairy tales alongside Iggy, the iguana character from a children’s show that Cameron stars in, “Adventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk.”
The event kicked off with a prayer from Pastor Lorenzo Sewell of the Detroit-based 180 Church, who asked Jesus to “manifest His Kingdom” in the lives of the children participating in the story hour. Read more

President Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and a contingent of European leaders at the White House on August 18, laying groundwork for potential peace in the Russia-Ukraine war that has dragged on for nearly four years under the previous administration’s watch. Trump characterized the discussions as “a very good, early step” in negotiations, highlighting commitments on security guarantees for Ukraine primarily from European nations “in coordination with the United States.”
In a post on Truth Social following the meetings, Trump noted that Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff are spearheading follow-up conversations with both Moscow and Kyiv.
“Everyone is very happy about the possibility of PEACE for Russia/Ukraine,” he stated.

PM demands French leader ‘replace weakness with action’ on anti-Jewish hatred by Rosh Hashanah next month, after also launching scathing attack on Australian Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu upbraided French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, charging that the latter’s move to recognize a Palestinian state fuels antisemitism, drawing a combative response from Paris.
Late last month, Macron said France would formally recognize a Palestinian state during a UN meeting in September, drawing a swift rebuke from Israel. By announcing the move, France was set to join a growing list of nations to have recognized statehood for the Palestinians since the start of the Gaza war nearly two years ago. Many Western nations have followed in Paris’s footsteps.
In the letter sent to Macron, seen by AFP, Netanyahu said antisemitism had “surged” in France following the announcement. “Your call for a Palestinian state pours fuel on this antisemitic fire. It is not diplomacy, it is appeasement. It rewards Hamas terror, hardens Hamas’s refusal to free the hostages, emboldens those who menace French Jews and encourages the Jew-hatred now stalking your streets,” Netanyahu wrote in the letter. FBI Warns of Russian Cyber Hackers Targeting Critical US Infrastructure

|
Russian hackers have been caught accessing the computer networks of critical U.S. infrastructure.
The FBI warned the public on Aug. 20 that Russian hackers had breached computer systems at manufacturing plants, power grids, water treatment facilities, and other critical infrastructure in the United States.
Hackers tied to Russia’s Federal Security Service were caught by the FBI using cyberattacks to get into computer networks targeting a wide range of critical infrastructure and other organizations in the United States and across the world.
By gaining access to the devices over the past year, the hackers were able to steal configuration files for thousands of networking devices associated with U.S. entities across critical infrastructure sectors, the FBI said. The hackers also used the unauthorized access to look around and collect intelligence in their victims’ networks, which revealed their interest in protocols and applications in control systems.
Dubbed “Berserk Bear” and “Dragonfly” by the cybersecurity community, the hackers have been targeting two key weaknesses in older or unsecured network devices—Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Cisco Smart Install—that no longer receive security updates, according to the FBI. Dr. James Dobson, founder of the Focus on the Family Christian ministry and former advisor to five U.S. presidents, has died at 89.
Dobson, a psychologist widely regarded as one of the most influential Christian leaders of the past half-century, passed away Thursday morning, the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute (JDFI) announced.
He became a force in the 1980s for pushing conservative Christian ideals in American politics alongside fundamentalist giants like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson.
"Dr. Dobson was a pioneer — a man of deep conviction whose voice shaped the way generations view faith, family, and culture," said Gary Bauer, senior vice president of public policy at the JDFI.
"His bold leadership, integrity, and compassion helped equip countless families to thrive in a world of shifting values. He was a mentor, a counselor, and a steady voice of truth in turbulent times."
Dobson was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1936 and went on to dedicate his life to strengthening marriages, guiding parents and defending biblical values by championing the central role of family in America.
He founded Focus on the Family in Arcadia, California, in 1977 and grew it into one of the largest evangelical ministries in the world. The organization later relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1991, which remains its headquarters today.
At its peak under Dobson’s leadership, the Focus on the Family daily radio program was carried on more than 4,000 stations across North America. The broadcasts were also translated into 27 languages and distributed in over 160 countries, making it one of the most widely heard faith-based radio shows in the world, the JDFI said.
In 2010, after leaving Focus, Dobson created JDFI as a smaller but more personal institute to continue his mission, with a sharper emphasis on his own broadcast and teaching.(Fox News) Read more here.

"I have come to approve the IDF's plans to take over Gaza City and defeat Hamas. At the same time, I have instructed to begin immediate negotiations on the release of all our hostages and an end to the war on terms acceptable to Israel," Netanyahu said. 2. IDF begins warning calls to medical officials in northern Gaza

As part of the IDF’s preparations for evacuating the population southern from Gaza City for its safety, officers from the IDF Gaza District Coordination and Liaison in COGAT carried out initial warning calls two days ago (Tuesday) to medical officials and international organizations in the northern Gaza Strip in order to prepare for the evacuation of the population to the southern Gaza Strip.
The officers emphasized to the medical officials that adjustments are being made to the hospital infrastructure in the south of the Strip to receive the sick and wounded, alongside an increased entry of necessary medical equipment according to the requests of the international aid organizations.
The IDF Gaza District Coordination and Liaison officer said in a warning given to the senior official in the health system: “I am contacting you regarding the possibility of the army entering Gaza City, there will be a full evacuation from Gaza to the southern Strip. This requires you to prepare a plan to transfer the medical equipment from north to south, so that you will be able to provide treatment for all the patients in the southern Strip and prepare the hospitals to receive the patients coming from the north, it is important to us that you receive this from an official source. We are going to provide you with a place to be in, whether it is a field hospital or any other hospital.” (Read more)

3. IDF pursues gunman after attempted terror attack on Jewish farmers

An attempted terror attack was thwarted on Thursday morning in the Binyamin region.
“This was a planned ambush that ended in a miracle,” Binyamin Regional Council head Israel Ganz said.
“The Ranger vehicle provided just weeks ago to the farmers saved lives today. Farmers once again proved the vital importance of their presence in the open areas between the Jordan Valley and Jerusalem, defending our land. This is further proof that we must now complete the mission and apply sovereignty over all of Judea and Samaria.”
According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, a terrorist opened fire at Israeli farmers near the Adei Ad area, close to the Malachei HaShalom farm.
After firing a single shot, the terrorist’s weapon jammed, leading to a physical confrontation with a shepherd, who managed to repel him using the Ranger vehicle. (Read more)

4. IDF seizes hundreds of weapons in southern Syria - JNS
Israeli troops seized more than 300 weapons and detained several individuals suspected of involvement in arms trading and smuggling during a targeted raid on commando outposts of the former Syrian regime on Wednesday.
The operation took place on the slopes of Mount Hermon in southern Syria, part of ongoing military activities near the border with Israel’s Golan Heights since the fall of the Assad regime and the rise of the new Sunni Islamist regime in Damascus.
The suspects apprehended and questioned were engaged in weapons trading and smuggling from Syria to neighboring Lebanon, according to the IDF. (Read more)

5. Turkish Ports Raise New Barriers to Israel-Linked Ships, Sources Say

The move is another step Turkey has taken against Israel after it last year severed trade with the country, worth $7 billion annually, over its war in Gaza with Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.
The sources said the harbor master’s office had verbally instructed port agents to provide written assurances, adding that there was no official circular on the issue.

3. Kroger Announces Closure of Multiple Supermarkets in Washington
State Due to Crime – The Gateway Pundit
Earlier today, the Gateway Pundit reported that Bed Bath & Beyond is bailing on Gavin Newsom’s California. Now it is being reported that Kroger is closing a number of their supermarkets in Washington state due to crime.
This is what people on the left don’t seem to understand about crime. When you tolerate it, everyone suffers for it. The people in Washington who depend on these stores for the goods they need are now going to suffer hardship because their political leaders decided not to prosecute criminals.
The mayor of one of the affected towns actually had the audacity to complain about this decision.

After Kroger announced it will close more stores in western Washington later this year, some believe the grocery corporation is putting profits over people.
“A lot of people who live in our Casino Road community commute by foot, so this has been their primary grocery store to shop for their basic needs,” said Mayor Cassie Franklin of the City of Everett.

Help state and local officials understand that a business must operate in a safe and profitable environment so that all may be served well. Lord, a business is not a charity, although they must use good principles of customer service. We pray that other communities and states will see the need to actually enforce the laws that have been on the books for many years, and crime will not be tolerated anymore.

The Democrat Party is hemorrhaging support with no end in sight, according to a shocking analysis of new voter registrations.
Fueled by President Donald Trump’s gains among men, younger voters, and Latinos in 2024, more new voters nationwide chose to be Republicans than Democrats for the first time since 2018, according to a report from the New York Times which relies on voter registration data compiled by L2, a nonpartisan data firm.
Perhaps more troubling for Democrats, the data suggests Democrat Party activists can no longer rely on the party’s tried-and-true methods to reverse the trend, leaving panicked party leaders and pundits unsure how to resurrect the party’s electoral prospects.
The numbers are staggering.
“Of the 30 states that track voter registration by political party, Democrats lost ground to Republicans in every single one between the 2020 and 2024 elections — and often by a lot,” the report reads. “That four-year swing toward the Republicans adds up to 4.5 million voters, a deep political hole that could take years for Democrats to climb out from.”
No states – red, blue, or purple – are immune to the trend.

It seems that many in the Democratic Party have drifted so far left in their politics that they have lost clarity, wisdom, and common sense. Lord, their hatred toward President Trump blinds them, and they would rather see our nation suffer than work together for its good.
We ask You to rebuild the Democratic platform. Raise up leaders within the party who have clear minds, good hearts, and a genuine love for the American people and our country. Bring forth those who cherish the American dream, who are willing to work with Republicans to create fair and just laws that bless all citizens.
Above all, we pray that these leaders would know Jesus Christ, put Him first, and lead with integrity, humility, and truth. Soften the hearts of those already in office and heal them of bitterness, anger, and division. Replace it with wisdom, unity, and righteousness in the mighty name of Jesus.

6. Trump adds firepower to National Guard presence in DC - The Hill
The number of National Guard troops patrolling Washington, D.C., will more than double in the coming days after Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina and West Virginia in the past several days committed troops to President Trump’s federal takeover of the city.
Coupled with indications that the guard members may soon be carrying weapons — a reversal of their initial orders — the new deployments mark a major escalation of Trump’s efforts to take over law enforcement in Washington.
The roughly 800 D.C. National Guard troops already deployed in the capital will be joined by about 200 personnel from Mississippi, between 300 and 400 from West Virginia, 150 from Ohio and 200 from South Carolina, beefing up a presence that has largely stood idle around typically low-crime, tourist-heavy areas in the city.

Confidential Pfizer reports to the FDA reveal tens of thousands of adverse events—including pregnancy complications, heart conditions, and fatalities—kept from public view while officials repeated the “safe and effective” mantra. Pfizer and the FDA even sought 75 years to fully release the data. This struggle, which continues today in fights over vaccine ingredients and their impact on children, is not merely about health policy. When companies with billions at stake dominate the conversation and pocket government regulators under their influence, the public has no one to trust.
A recent Pfizer-funded study admitted that older COVID-19 vaccines “offered little, if any, additional protection compared to the unvaccinated,” even against hospital admission. Yet the same paper praised the company’s new formula as significantly more effective. This is a recurring pattern in the pharmaceutical industry—when one product nears the end of its patent life or public favor, the next “solution” emerges, backed by glowing studies funded by the very company selling it. Who writes the checks often shapes the conclusions, and dissenting scientists risk career ruin. Grassley Releases Data Showing Biden’s HHS Put 11K Migrant Children with Unvetted Sponsors

Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) today released previously unseen data showing U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) officials gave custody of 11,488 Unaccompanied Alien Minors (UAMs) to sponsors who were not their parents or legal guardians and who had not undergone a mandatory rigorous FBI background check.
“My oversight continues to expose disturbing evidence that the Biden-Harris administration turned a blind eye to tens of thousands of kids who needed proper supervision and care. It’s appalling to prioritize speed and optics over the safety and wellbeing of children,” Grassley said in a statement.
“I appreciate the Trump administration’s efforts to undo the damage caused by the last administration’s failed border policies, and I’ll continue my oversight of the issue to ensure abuse like this never happens again,” he added.
Federal law requires that would-be sponsors of UAMs must submit to the FBI’s criminal history check, which is based on digital fingerprints. According to the Grassley report, HHS placed the 11,488 children with unvetted sponsors throughout the one-term presidency of Joe Biden during the years of January 2021 to January 2025.
“The Biden-Harris administration disregarded this law and failed to request or receive fingerprints or background checks for approximately 11 percent of migrant children placed with sponsors who were not their parent or legal guardian,” the Grassley report stated. Trump Admin’s Fight against ‘Woke’ Goes from Campuses to Museums

President Donald Trump is not happy with the Smithsonian. Washington’s popular chain of taxpayer-funded museums has been accused of being “woke,” and according to the president, he is “not going to allow this” to continue.
On Tuesday, Trump shared a lengthy post on Truth Social detailing his concerns. “The Museums throughout Washington, but all over the Country are, essentially, the last remaining segment of ‘WOKE,’” he wrote. But the Smithsonian? That, he added, is “OUT OF CONTROL.” As such, he’s unleashed his legal team to probe Washington’s museums and scrub them of anything considered “woke.” Notably, Trump has taken a similar stand against forms of progressivism like LGBT activism and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives — on college campuses and other academic institutions. According to Trump, his efforts targeting museums are no different.
So, what is the Smithsonian guilty of? Allegedly, the museums have been caught promoting “overt ideological content, radical gender ideology, LGBT propaganda,” The Daily Wire reported. The outlet added that they’ve also come under fire for the “aggressive reframing of events like the COVID pandemic or the Black Lives Matter movement,” and, as Trump put it, discussing “how horrible our Country is.” (The Washington Stand)

- Lord God, we are so relieved to see and experience the ungodly ‘woke
culture’ gradually fading away in our nation. Continue to inspire and
empower President Trump as he seeks to restore truth and
righteousness to our institutions. Lord, so many visit the Smithsonian
network of museums, especially in family outings and school field
trips. Millions of foeign and domestic tourists also visit the museums
each year.
We ask that as a representation of historical events and
eras, the depiction of events, customs, and artifacts within our
national institutions would be free of all indoctrination and
ideological, politicized programs and presentations. We do ask for the
truth to be displayed, portrayed and represented without slant or bias.
Have mercy, Lord, and protect the minds of the innocents from lies,
distortions and half-truths. We pray for President Trump and his team
to hear Your voice and to follow in Your wisdom and agenda each
day.

Greetings from New York City.
Next month will be a busy time at the United Nations. All member states will gather at the UN headquarters in New York City. As watchmen on the wall, we will pray together, especially in New York City, the 'Eastern Gate' to the United States. We will stand watch over the nation and the city. We will close the gate to any plans for destruction by the enemy and to any attempts to unite with powers of hatred and antisemitism within the city. In Genesis 22:17 the Lord promised Abraham, “I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. Your descendants will possess the gates of their enemies”. Currently, we are far from this in the natural realm but God's promises are yes and amen.

Appeals Court Hands Trump a Massive Victory, Tosses 'Excessive' Penalty from Letitia James Lawsuit

An appeals court has thrown out the massive civil fraud penalty against President Donald Trump, ruling Thursday in New York state’s lawsuit accusing him of exaggerating his wealth.
The decision came seven months after the Republican returned to the White House. A panel of five judges in New York’s mid-level Appellate Division said the verdict, which stood to cost Trump over $515 million and rock his real estate empire, was “excessive.”
After finding that Trump engaged in fraud by padding financial statements that went to lenders and insurers, Judge Arthur Engoron ordered him last year to pay $355 million in penalties. With interest, the sum has topped $515 million.
The total — combined with penalties levied on some other Trump Organization executives, including Trump’s sons Eric and Donald Jr. — now exceeds $527 million, with interest.
“While the injunctive relief ordered by the court is well crafted to curb defendants’ business culture, the court’s disgorgement order, which directs that defendants pay nearly half a billion dollars to the State of New York, is an excessive fine that violates the Eighth Amendment of the United States Constitution,” Judges Dianne T. Renwick and Peter H. Moulton wrote in one of several opinions shaping the appeals court’s ruling.
Engoron also imposed other punishments, such as banning Trump and his two eldest sons from serving in corporate leadership for a few years. Those provisions have been on pause during Trump’s appeal, and he was able to hold off collection of the money by posting a $175 million bond.
The court, which was split on the merits of the lawsuit and the lower court’s fraud finding, dismissed the penalty Engoron imposed in its entirety while also leaving a pathway for further appeals to the state’s highest court, the Court of Appeals.
The appeals court, the Appellate Division of the state’s trial court, took an unusually long time to rule, weighing Trump’s appeal for nearly 11 months after oral arguments last fall. Normally, appeals are decided in a matter of weeks or a few months. (The Western Journal) Read more here.

US secret military space plane to embark on new mission with undisclosed goal

A secret space plane is set to embark on its new mission. The X-37B orbital test vehicle of the U.S. Space Force will fly on its eighth mission on August 21, 2025. The plane is set to lift off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The uncrewed, autonomous spacecraft is developed by Boeing. The plane is used by the U.S. military to conduct experiments in high and low Earth orbits. However, most of the plane’s functions remain secretive despite the widespread information about its presence.
