A Year to Grow: Inside a Christian Gap Year in the Mountains
|
|
|
UPPER TRACT, WV – You've probably heard about students taking a gap year between high school and college or starting a job. While it can be time to travel or avoid adulting, increasingly, students are using these gap years for intentional growth. Christian gap years are popping up across the country. We visited one in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. A place where evangelist Steve Wingfield witnesses many miracles.
It all started when a friend asked to show him a piece of property on top of a mountain. "My response was, Jeff, I don't have money for property—I'm a preacher. He said, I just feel like the Lord wants you to see it," Wingfield told CBN News, and that led to opening Lodestar Mountain Inn. "I call it the miracle on the mountain. It's been unbelievable what God's done. We've been given 10 tractor-trailer loads of material," he says.
Lodestar first opened 10 years ago as a retreat center for pastors, first responders, and veterans. It now boasts a number of properties, each with its own miraculous stories. Wingfield even secured an old log sheep barn for the property. "And so it still is. It's a chapel, so the Good Shepherd is here," Wingfield explains with a chuckle. The ministry began shepherding the next generation of evangelists at Lodestar four years ago by adding a gap year program, which draws students from across the country for nine months of intensive discipleship. Abba Father, we celebrate this Christian 'gap year' discipleship program for young high-school students who've recently graduated. We are grateful for the invaluable time spent mentoring the next generations in evangelism, apologetics and leadership skills. We pray each student is blessed one-thousand-fold, for committing their lives to this critical time growing in the Lord. May each young heart be empowered by Your Holy Spirit, as they are strengthened in faith and commissioned by God for future Kingdom work! We lift praise for the many miracles already experienced through the obedience of those who've established this training center. May they be abundantly blessed as they shepherd the next generations of evangelists for such a time as this! In the mighty Name and Blood of Yeshua, we pray- Amen.
"One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts." (Psalm 145:4)

DEA Seized 47 Million Fentanyl-Laced Counterfeit Pills in 2025
|
|
|
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has confiscated more than 47 million fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills and almost 10,000 pounds of fentanyl powder in 2025.
The seized narcotics are equivalent to 369 million lethal doses of fentanyl, according to an announcement made by the Department of Justice (DOJ) in an Aug. 21 post on X as part of the National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day. So far this year, the total amount of fentanyl seized by the DEA represents more than 239 million deadly doses.
“Just 2 milligrams—smaller than a grain of salt—can kill. This Justice Department is committed to combating the fentanyl crisis and keeping Americans and our communities safe,” the announcement reads.
In an Aug. 21 statement, the DEA asked the public to remain aware of the threat that fentanyl poses to American communities, highlighting that the synthetic opioid is about 100 times more potent than morphine and about 50 times more potent than heroin.
In December 2025, President Donald Trump signed
an executive order designating fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction. Trump warned that adversaries were trafficking fentanyl into the United States, partly to kill Americans.
“They’re trying to drug-out our country,” Trump said. “You can look throughout history. Look at China when they were loaded up with drugs; they were suffering greatly, and others were able to take them over.
“No bomb does what this is doing,” Trump said. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

|
Lord God we thank you that this administration is taking action to stop this dangerous drug trafficking from affecting our families and our children. We pray you continue to give the Trump administration wisdom that they would yield to your Spirit, and do what is right to protect our country and our citizens, in Jesus' name, amen.
“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.” (Proverbs 3:7)

US plans to again bar Abbas from going to NYC for UN address next month — official
|
|
|
For the second year in a row, US President Donald Trump’s administration plans to prevent Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas from traveling to New York next month to speak before the United Nations General Assembly, a US official told The Times of Israel.
The US refused to grant Abbas a visa to enter the US last year, claiming the PA had been taking steps that undermine prospects for peace.
Washington didn’t elaborate on its specific grievances with Ramallah at the time, and the move was seen as part of an effort to undermine a conference that France and Saudi Arabia were hosting ahead of the General Assembly’s high-level week last year that was aimed at promoting a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Trump administration opposed the gathering, claiming that it was a reward to Hamas and undermined efforts to end the war in Gaza.
No such conference is scheduled at the UN this year, but the US plans to maintain the precedent regarding Abbas that it set last year, the US official said.
Hoping to reverse the policy, Abbas asked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan if he could speak to Trump about the visa ban, a Palestinian official told The Times of Israel.
Erdogan heeded the request, which Abbas made during his visit to Ankara last week, the Palestinian official said, touting the Turkish leader’s assistance.
Erdogan held a phone call on Tuesday with Trump, who has repeatedly called the Turkish president his “good friend.”
But the US official’s insistence to The Times of Israel on Wednesday that Abbas would still be banned indicated that Erdogan did not manage to convince Trump to overrule the State Department decision. (The Times of Israel) Read more here.

|
Lord we pray for President Trump that you would give him wisdom and lead and guide him when it comes to making these tough decisions. We pray over the United Nations that they would turn to you and that their efforts be used to for godly purposes instead of an evil one. In Jesus name, amen.
"You have done more evil than all who lived before you. You have made for yourself other gods, idols made of metal; you have aroused my anger and turned your back on me." (1 Kings 14:9)

Israel strikes an air base in northwest Syria to prevent Turkish troops from deploying
|
|
|
DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — Israel struck an air base in northwest Syria early Tuesday, saying it aimed to prevent Turkish troops from deploying there.
Turkey, which has close ties with the Syrian government and has been providing assistance to Syria’s military, has tense relations with Israel. The rival countries have sought to curb each other’s influence in neighboring Syria.
Eight strikes hit the runway of the Abu Duhur air base in the northwestern province of Idlib, causing damage but no casualties, state TV said. Syria’s Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani told reporters in Damascus that Syria condemns the “Israeli aggression,” adding that the strikes were “an unjustified provocation, a violation of Syria’s sovereignty, and a direct threat to regional and global stability.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said in a statement that Israel had attacked the base because Syria had been “on the verge of breaching” an agreed-upon “status quo in security matters” by allowing Turkish troops to deploy there.
“Israel repeatedly warned Syria that such a deployment would pose a threat to Israel’s security. Syria chose to ignore these warnings,” the statement said. (AP) Read more here.

Father God, we thank You for the wisdom You have given to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he seeks to protect his nation from outside forces. In this case, Israel had repeatedly warned Syria that such a deployment (from Turkey) would pose a threat to Israel’s security. Because Syria chose to ignore these warnings, the IAF took action to attack the runway of the Abu Duhur air base in Syria. We continue to uphold, in prayer, Israel's right to defend itself from all enemies, foreign and domestic. In Your Name, Holy One, we offer this prayer, amen and amen.
(Please join us in praying in the Spirit over this report.)

WATCH: Fast Moving Wildfire Consuming Land and Structures Near Reno, NV
|
|
|
Another wildfire in a long, hot, and fiery summer has ignited in the American West, this time in northern Nevada outside of Reno, expanding to nearly 11,000 acres by Saturday evening.
Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo declared a state of emergency in Washoe County for the Hawk Fire, saying it “is spreading quickly and threatening homes and structures.”
“This is an active and rapidly evolving situation, and I urge everyone in the affected areas to remain vigilant,” Lombardo wrote on X.
The inferno has grown to more than 10,500 acres, according to the fire mapping platform Perimeter Map.
“The Hawk Fire is a very dynamic incident for us as it’s being driven by the winds,” Richard Edwards, chief of Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue in Washoe County, said in a video posted to social media.
“The wind-driven fires move very rapidly into our residential areas, creating a lot of challenges for our firefighters to save homes and protect lives,” he added.
By Saturday evening, residents of some 1,000 homes were instructed by officials to get ready to evacuate.
However, the fire map showed a number of residential areas were now under “go now” orders.
Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve posted a warning on X, saying “structures have already been burned in this fire and your life is more important than a building.” (Breitbart) Read more

|
Lord, first, we pray that You would be near to the families who are grappling with the loss of their land. We also pray for the brave men and women who are fighting these fires and rescuing those who are stranded, that you would give them supernatural strength to go on. Lastly, we pray that the fires would abate, and the winds would cease. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
"Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." (1 Corinthians 15:58)

1. Netanyahu and Katz presented with data showing decline in terrorism
- Israel National News
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security situational assessment at Central Command on Monday regarding the security challenges in Judea and Samaria.
The discussion was attended by the Defense Minister, IDF Chief of Staff, National Security Council chief, Central Command commander, head of the IDF Intelligence Directorate, head of the Operations Directorate, commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, and other senior officials.
Defense Minister Israel Katz summed up the situational assessment, saying: “We were presented with a picture of everything taking place in the sector: the map of threats, the fight against terrorism, and the dramatic growth in settlement. The remarkable thing is the figure presented to us showing that the number of Palestinian terrorist attacks in Judea and Samaria has declined for the second consecutive year, reaching levels we have never seen before." 2. Netanyahu says Iran ‘tried to murder one of my sons,’ doesn’t give further details - Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Iran had tried to assassinate one of his two sons, in what appeared to be a defense of the recent and unusual agreement to extend their security protection even if he loses the upcoming election.
“Here is something quite unbelievable… Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to kill, to murder one of my sons,” Netanyahu told the pro-government Channel 14 in a phone interview, without saying which of his sons was a target, or providing any further details.
Hebrew media outlets noted that the matter had been under censorship for several months. Channel 12 said the alleged assassination plot has been known to the Israeli security establishment for several months. (Read more)

3. Israel’s leading PM contender Eisenkot forced to carry gun as Shin Bet denies full protection - YNET News
The former IDF chief of staff carries a gun as his campaign presses for stronger security amid threats against him, while the Shin Bet maintains that he does not meet the criteria for protection by Unit 730, the agency’s elite VIP security detail. Eisenkot is exposed to the public almost every day, moving through crowds, meeting voters and allowing people to approach him directly. His aides say threats have included references to the assassination of former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, including messages invoking the phrase “Rabin is looking for a friend.”
His camp also points to the possibility of threats from Iran, given Eisenkot’s years at the highest levels of Israel’s military and security establishment and Tehran’s interest in retaliating against senior Israeli figures following operations targeting Iranian officials. Yet despite the concern, Eisenkot has not been assigned a Shin Bet protection detail.
Several months ago, according to Eisenkot’s campaign, his headquarters hired a private security company. The company asked police for authorization to arm the guards but was refused. Weeks later, Eisenkot’s staff submitted another request to the police and Shin Bet, this time accompanied by information about specific threats. His aides say police did not respond. After the request became public, police said an answer would be provided, but Eisenkot’s camp says none has arrived. (Read more)

5. Syria confirms high-level talks with Israel after air base strike - World Israel News
Syria confirmed Sunday that senior Syrian and Israeli officials held US-mediated talks in Jordan aimed at reducing tensions and reviving negotiations over a security agreement following a series of Israeli military operations on Syrian territory.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani led the Syrian delegation, which also included the heads of Syria’s general and military intelligence services, according to the Syrian Foreign Ministry.
Israeli reports identified Mossad director Roman Gofman as the head of the Israeli delegation.
The meeting represented one of the highest-level direct contacts between Israel and Syria since tensions escalated following last week’s Israeli strike on the Abu al-Duhur air base in northern Syria. (Read more)

1. Leavitt to work at Trump-affiliated super PAC following White House departure - The Hill
Karoline Leavitt is set to work at President Trump’s MAGA Inc. super PAC following her departure from the White House, the outgoing press secretary confirmed Friday.
Leavitt shared her next career move with reporters outside of Air Force One Friday evening, a little over one week after she announced she would step down at the end of August to spend more time with her family.
She did not elaborate on what her title would be a MAGA Inc. — a Trump and GOP-aligned PAC reportedly sitting on over $350 million in campaign funds ahead of November’s midterms. Leavitt served as a spokesperson for the PAC before joining the president’s 2024 campaign.
“You guys will still see me all the time,” the outgoing press secretary told reporters Friday. (Read more)

2. Pentagon says more than 750 US service members wounded in Iran war - The Hill
The Pentagon said more than 750 U.S. service members have been wounded since the war against Iran began in late February.
The department updated its war casualty database this week with another 50 injured service members.
When totals from the Operation Epic Fury rubric are combined with updated figures in the “Overseas Operations” category, the total number comes out to 756 wounded in action, according to Defense Casualty Analysis System (DCAS) data.
Eighteen service members have been killed in the conflict, bringing the total number of killed and injured to 774.
Last month, the Pentagon formed the “Overseas Operations” section for casualties in the conflict “starting” July 7, the same day the U.S. military resumed airstrikes against Iran in response to its targeting of shipping tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
The updated figures also come as Trump announced earlier this week that the U.S. is launching the “MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER” against Iran amid apparently stalled talks between Iran and Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
“This will be Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale,” the president said on Wednesday. (Read more)

3. Iran Says Regime Must Overcome ‘Unjust’ Economic Pressure as US Vows to Impose ‘Toughest Sanctions in History’ - The Algemeiner
Iranian parliament speaker Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf said on Friday that Iran must plan to overcome “unjust sanctions,” a day after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced what he described as the toughest sanctions ever imposed on Iran.
Bessent said on Thursday the measures would be detailed on Monday, suggesting they could lessen the need for further major military operations.
Qalibaf, one of Iran‘s most influential political figures and Tehran‘s top negotiator in talks with the United States, said economic development and security were closely linked.
He accused the United States and Israel of waging economic and “cognitive” warfare after concluding they could not prevail in a direct military confrontation with Iran and Iraq.
“If you look at the resources and raw materials of Muslim countries, you will realize that our enemies come to plunder them,” Qalibaf told Iranian and Iraqi business representatives in Baghdad, according to his Telegram channel.
“Therefore, we must make plans to deal with the unjust sanctions so that we can overcome them.” (Read more)

4. Russian and Ukrainian attacks kill 10 people, a day after shopping mall drone strike - AP News
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian drone and missile strikes killed at least seven people in Ukraine, officials said Saturday, while a Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Krasnodar region killed three people there.
The attacks came a day after a Russian strike on a Ukrainian shopping center killed at least 16 people and wounded some 130.
Moscow’s forces have recently intensified their ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv, exploiting Ukraine’s chronic shortage of U.S.-made Patriot air defense interceptors, the sole weapon in its arsenal able to shoot down the missiles.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that one person was killed and another wounded in the latest attacks when ballistic missiles hit railway infrastructure in the capital, Kyiv, overnight.

5. US redesignates Hezbollah as terror group in 'service to Iranian regime' - JNS.org
Hezbollah, the Iran-backed terrorist group that has controlled southern Lebanon for decades, “operates with little to no regard for Lebanese sovereignty, the Lebanese people or the Lebanese state,” a U.S. State Department official said on Thursday, as the Trump administration again sanctioned Hezbollah “for service to the Iranian regime.”
“The United States will not relent in targeting Iran’s financial support networks, including those enabling Hezbollah to threaten peace, undermine the sovereignty of the Lebanese state and endanger the security of our regional allies,” wrote Tommy Pigott, spokesman for the State Department.
The official said that Hezbollah, which has long been sanctioned as a foreign terrorist organization, is being re-designated “an Iranian proxy, not a stand-alone operation as implied by the previous designation.”
The action on Thursday “builds on years of U.S. designations that have repeatedly documented the operational, financial and logistical integration” between Hezbollah and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, which is Iran’s elite military wing specializing in unconventional warfare, foreign intelligence and management of Iran’s network of terrorist proxies throughout the Middle East.
Thursday’s determination “formally recognizes” Hezbollah’s activities “as an extension of the IRGC-QF” and “not a Lebanese resistance movement.” (Read more)

6. Ancient Jerusalem water system opens to visitors - IsraelNationalNews
The Efrat Local Council, in cooperation with the Etzion Regional Brigade, has successfully completed the first pilot program allowing organized tour groups to visit Solomon's Pools.
Until now, bringing groups into the site required complex coordination. However, following a government decision allocating 10 million shekels to make the site permanently accessible, a new framework has been introduced.
At the current stage, predetermined dates are being announced - currently once a week - allowing groups to enter with advance registration through travel agents, educational tour organizations, and tour guides. The ultimate goal is to open the site freely to the public every day.
Efrat Council head Dov Shefler explained: "For two years, we have worked in close cooperation with the military to bring groups into this important site, but that is not enough for it to become a genuine tourist attraction that realizes the enormous tourism potential of the water system that supplied Jerusalem during the Second Temple period. An event organized by the local council is nice and important, but that is not tourism. Our role as a local authority is to remove obstacles and allow the tourism market to do its job.
"Therefore, we recently coordinated with the Etzion Brigade Commander to publish dates, currently once a week, on which travel agents, educational tour organizations, and tour guides will be able to bring organized groups into the Solomon's Pools complex. This is only the first stage, with the ultimate goal of reaching a situation in which the site is freely open to visitors every day." (Read more)

The Curse That Became Our Blessing
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, August 24, 2026
Ki Tetze (When You Go Out), Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19, continues Moses’ provisions of the covenant. This portion contains 74 commands, more than any other Torah portion. Among them are laws requiring dignity for captive women, protecting the firstborn, dealing with a rebellious son, restoring lost property, showing kindness to animals, and governing marriage, divorce, sexual immorality, and levirate marriage. Even a man executed for a capital crime and hung on a tree was to be buried by sundown because he bore God’s image and the land was not to be defiled. The portion closes with God’s command to remember Amalek’s cruelty toward Israel and “blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.”
Deuteronomy 21:22-23 says that when someone guilty of a capital crime is put to death and hung on a tree, his body must be buried that same day, “for he who is hanged is accursed of God.” The Torah describes execution followed by hanging as a public warning. The Septuagint, however, inverted the word order, rendering it essentially, “hang him on wood so that he dies,” a wording later used to support the Roman practice of crucifixion (Y. Yadin, Megillat HaMikdash). The Hebrew word for hanged or impaled is Talui, or HaTalui, literally “the Hanged One” or “the Crucified One.” Taluibecame a title used for Yeshua among the Jewish people. Opponents of the gospel used Deuteronomy to argue that Yeshua could not be Messiah because anyone hanging upon a tree was under God’s curse. Read More

Democratic Voter Registrations Plunge Across the U.S. as GOP Numbers Grow, Analysis Shows
|
|
|
|
Democratic voters have declined in 93% of the counties in the nation’s states that allow partisan or Independent registrations since 2016, while Republican voter registrations have gone up in 77% of those jurisdictions, according to a new analysis by USAFacts.
The situation is not simply Democrats losing ground and the GOP gaining ground, however, because the report also highlights a significant increase in the number of Independent and Minor Party registrations, as well as voters declining to identify with any category. Such registrations increased in 75% of the measured counties. There are 1,425 counties in the 30 states that permit some form of partisan registrations, but the USAFacts analysis focused on the 1,360 counties that make up the 27 states with the broadest permissions.
“An increasing percentage of voters are registering with a minor party or no party at all. In states that require party affiliation on voter registration (because not all do), three out of four counties had voters shifting away from the Republican and Democratic parties over the past decade,” USAFacts said.
“In some states, both Republican and unaffiliated voter growth drew away from Democratic registration. In North Carolina, unaffiliated registrations grew in every single county, while the Republican share grew alongside it in 78 of the state’s 100 counties. The Democratic share fell in all 100,” the report continued.
“In other states, both parties lost ground in roughly equal measure. A prime example of this is Colorado, where unaffiliated and minor party registration climbed 16 percentage points over the decade, while both major parties lost ground,” the report said.
Overall, according to the new analysis, “Democratic registration share fell across all county types, dropping the most in rural counties and the least in urban ones. Although Democrats remain the largest group of registered voters nationwide by total count, their share declined in 93% of counties, roughly 1,260 of the 1,360 that track party affiliation over time.” The state with the biggest Democratic loss was West Virginia which saw approximately 250,000, or 17%, of voters leaving the party between 2016 and 2026. God Almighty,
We pray that this shift of advantage favoring the Republican Party will continue to grow and pick up the votes of the Independent voters. Lord, we pray that the Christians who are not voting will see the urgency to go to the poles and vote righteously! God, our nation is in Your hands as the unaffiliated registrations grow and move away from a two party form of government as we see Socialists and Islamist candidates winning in some elections.
Father, we beseech You to pull down and destroy any roots of parties that would try and take over our nation and destroy our Christian heritage and our ties with Israel! We decree under the authority of Jesus Christ that America will remain one nation under God and we will see the destruction of the enemy as God pulls down the high altars that have set themselves up above the Word of God!. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen and Amen.
"The wicked will be destroyed but those who call to the Lord for help will get the land he promised. In a short time there will be no more evil people." (Psalm 37:9-10)

U.S. Army Launches Drone-Strike Task Force
|
|
|
|
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that it has established its first-ever multi-domain, multinational attack drone task force. Task Force Falcon Strike will utilize unmanned one-way attack drones from above, below, and at sea, operated by military support staff members. The new task force follows CENTCOM’s creation of the military’s first dedicated one-way attack drone squadron in the Middle East, Task Force Scorpion Strike.
CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated, “Task Force Falcon Strike will expand on Scorpion Strike’s success given the tremendous innovation happening among our regional allies and partners. Integrating and deploying our new capabilities together will help us rapidly realize the new possibilities that are on the horizon.”
CENTCOM has also consulted with and invited regional partners to formally join Task Force Falcon Strike. The new task force is expected to be led by personnel from U.S. Special Operations Command Central. (Presidential Prayer Team) Read more here.

Education Department Issues Guidance on Student Discipline Policies
|
|
|
|
The U.S. Department of Education has issued guidance to help educational institutions to promote safe and fair school discipline policies under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI). The new guidance removes a previous allowance that used demographic data alone in determining discipline for disruptive behavior.
The department’s guidance notes, “Race-conscious discipline policies coincided with increased and repeated disruptive behavior, more missed days of school by victims of bullying and harassment, and high rates of teacher dissatisfaction.“ Guidance under previous administrations had warned schools “that racially neutral school discipline rules could violate Title VI if they disproportionately impacted students of one race more than another.“
Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey said that such policies “perversely required schools to discipline students differently, based on their race; it has prevented teachers from keeping their classrooms safe, put students in harm’s way, and severely compromised student learning opportunities.”
The assistant secretary explained that the updated guidance “clarifies Title VI’s legal requirements and ends these harmful practices. OCR will vigorously enforce Title VI to ensure that schools’ disciplinary systems are neutral and fair, and that they operate in a nondiscriminatory manner.” (Presidential Prayer Team) Read more here.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Assistant Secretary Richey as she seeks to ensure schools comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
- For Secretary McMahon as she works to ensure that states and local officials have what they need to effectively run their schools.
- For the administrators and teachers as they implement the updated guidelines.

Ancient clue cracks open a 2,000-year-old mystery near famed Colosseum

Archaeologists digging near Rome's Colosseum believe they may have found an ancient firehouse dating back nearly 2,000 years. The building, which dates to the second century A.D., was found in the Villa Celimontana park near the Colosseum, Reuters reported this month.
Villa Celimontana dates to the 16th century, when it was developed as a noble residence on Caelian Hill, one of the seven hills of ancient Rome.
The discovery was originally announced by Rome's archaeological superintendency, part of Italy's Ministry of Culture. At the excavation site, archaeologists fully uncovered five of the building's eight rooms, which contain mosaics and remnants of painted decorations.
Officials believe the building may have been part of the nearby barracks of the Fifth Cohort of the Vigiles, ancient Rome's firefighting force. They cited one telling clue: A mosaic found at the site closely resembles one previously discovered in a firefighters' barracks in Ostia, ancient Rome's port city. The Vigiles were also tasked with maintaining public order at night, and their nearby barracks used water from an aqueduct.
"If this hypothesis is confirmed, the discovery would help reassess the extent of one of the most important military complexes of imperial Rome," officials said in a statement.

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name."
