Thousands of Angel Tree Children Experiencing Joy and Lasting Hope at Summer Camps
|

|
Our nation continues grieving in the wake of the devastating flood in Texas that claimed the lives of dozens of campers and staff. Summer camps across the country mourn with brothers and sisters who lost their closest friends and siblings and with parents who forever carry the weight of losing a child. We remember their stories, and, in our sorrow, we cling to the hope that camp still offers: a place of joy and connection, even in the face of overwhelming loss. For so many, camp is an essential tool for spiritual discipleship and formation. It can be life-changing—especially for children with a mom or dad in prison.
Prison Fellowship Angel Tree provides scholarships for children with incarcerated parents to attend Christian camps, where boys and girls can gain new experiences, develop positive relationships with counselors, and grow in their faith. Albert and Beth Canul know camp is more than a fun summer getaway for kids. They first learned about Angel Tree during Albert's incarceration. In prison, he registered his children for Angel Tree Christmas, which provides a gift and a personal message to children on behalf of their incarcerated parent. Later, Beth received a call from Camp Agape California and learned that the kids could go to summer camp through Angel Tree. The Canul children came home from camp asking Beth to take them to church. They all started attending and found a community of love and support. That same community welcomed Albert after prison. The testimonies of entire families being greatly impacted through the children brings joy to our hearts. In Jesus' Name, we declare many life-changing transformations and salvation in Christ for each child, as they learn and experience the love of our heavenly Father through camp leaders! "Keep Portland Weird." It's more than a slogan -- it's a worldview. You'll find it spray-painted on walls, emblazoned on coffee mugs, and proudly worn like a badge of honor by the locals. It's shorthand for everything Portland prides itself on: progressive values, irreverent culture, radical individualism, and open hostility to traditional faith. But this past weekend, something happened that wasn't just "weird" -- it was miraculous.
In a city long considered a spiritual wasteland, the Gospel came roaring to life.
More than 35,000 people packed the Moda Center for the PTX Crusade, hosted by Athey Creek Church. And in two days -- in a place where Christians are now outnumbered by the religiously unaffiliated -- 3,200 people made decisions for Christ. Some were attendees. Others were security guards. Even an elevator operator surrendered his life to Jesus. That's not a headline from Alabama or Texas -- that's Portland, Oregon.

Dramatic Changes on the Temple Mount Point to New Era

This past weekend, on the solemn day of Tisha B'Av--the 9th of Av--history was made atop the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. For the first time in modern memory, a sitting Jewish minister not only visited Judaism's holiest site but openly prayed, prostrated, and led thousands in song and worship.
That minister was Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel's National Security Minister, and his presence did more than stir controversy--it marked a dramatic shift in what many have long described as the "status quo."
Despite government officials insisting that "nothing has changed," what took place on Sunday declared quite the opposite: everything has changed.
Tisha B'Av: A Day of Sorrow, Now Stirring with Hope
For thousands of years, the 9th of Av has been the darkest day on the Jewish calendar. It commemorates the destruction of both the First Temple (by the Babylonians in 586 BC) and the Second Temple (by the Romans in 70 AD). On this day, Jews fast, sit on the floor, and recite lamentations, mourning not only the loss of the Temples but also centuries of exile, persecution, and dispersion.
And yet, on this Tisha B'Av, the very site where Jews have been forbidden to worship for generations echoed not with cries of mourning--but with songs of praise. People sang. Worshippers prostrated. Jewish feet walked freely where once only whispers and silent prayers dared tread.
The Quiet but Steady Return to the Mount
For decades, Jewish presence on the Temple Mount was strictly limited. Under the oversight of the Jordanian Waqf and enforced by Israeli police, Jews could visit but not pray. Religious expression was punishable by removal--sometimes by arrest. The mere act of moving one's lips in prayer could provoke expulsion.

Israeli Security Cabinet approves PM Netanyahu's plan to occupy Gaza City

They adopted five principles for ending the war, namely disarming Hamas, returning hostages, demilitarizing Gaza and maintaining a security presence, and the formation of a civilian government.

Israel's Security Cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's proposal to occupy Gaza City, Axios's Barak Ravid reported on X/Twitter on Friday morning, citing an unidentified Israeli official.
"The security cabinet approved the prime minister's proposal to defeat Hamas. The IDF will prepare to take control of Gaza City while providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside the combat zones," Ravid later cited the Prime Minister's Office as saying. 1. Heated cabinet meeting | Netanyahu: Goal is to defeat Hamas, not perpetuate it - Israel National News
The Israeli Security Cabinet convened on Thursday night for an especially tense meeting during which it is expected to decide on the occupation of the entire Gaza Strip.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated at the start of the meeting: "I don't want to perpetuate Hamas, I want to defeat it."
IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir claimed that "the hostages' lives will be in danger if we proceed with the plan to conquer Gaza — there's no way to guarantee they won't be harmed."
He described the price as one that would harm soldiers' lives, cause extreme burnout among the forces, wear out the military vehicles, and be plagued by humanitarian and sanitation issues. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu Says Israel Intends to Take Full but Temporary Control of Gaza as Hostage Families Organize Flotilla - Algemeiner
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that Israel intends to take full military control of Gaza to secure its borders until it can hand governance of the enclave over to Arab authorities, vowing to “liberate” the Palestinians of Gaza from the ruling terrorist group Hamas.
“We intend to control all of Gaza. We don’t want to keep it. We want a security perimeter. We don’t want to govern [Gaza]. We don’t want to be there as a governing body. We want to hand Gaza over to Arab forces that will govern [the territory] properly,” Netanyahu said in an interview with Fox News.
“We want to liberate ourselves and liberate the people of Gaza from the awful terror of Hamas,” the Israeli premier added. “In order to assure our security, remove Hamas there, enable the population to be free of Gaza and to pass it to civilian governance … The only way that you’re [going to] have a different future is to get rid of this neo-Nazi army. Hamas are monsters.”
Netanyahu’s comments came shortly before the Israeli security cabinet convened to discuss and likely approve the plan to expand the war. (Read more)

3. Hostages' families demonstrate against Gaza occupation during cabinet meeting - Israel National News
Hundreds of demonstrators, together with families of hostages being held in Gaza and captivity survivors, gathered on Thursday at the Joint Square in Jerusalem outside the Prime Minister's Office, where the Security Cabinet has convened to decide on the occupation of the entire Gaza Strip.
The protestors called on the government to make a deal with the murderous Hamas terrorist group, despite the negotiations being at a stalemate, and to end the war.
"Military pressure kills the hostages," the protesters chanted. (Read more)

4. IDF brigade delivers decisive blow to Hamas stronghold - World Israel News
The Israel Defense Forces revealed Thursday that the Givati Brigade, operating under the 162nd Division, concluded a month-long campaign in the Beit Hanoun area of northern Gaza as part of Operation Gideon’s Chariots. Throughout the operation, Givati forces worked closely with the Combat Engineering and Armored Corps to neutralize extensive terrorist infrastructure.
According to the IDF, hundreds of targets were dismantled, both on the surface and underground, including tunnels, bunkers and other combat installations. Aerial support from the Israeli air force played a key role in the mission, coordinating with ground units to strike numerous Hamas positions. These included command centers, surveillance posts and sniper nests that had threatened Israeli troops in the area. (Read more)

5. In Israel’s largest gas deal, Leviathan partners ink $35 billion export deal with Egypt - Times of Israel
Partners in Israel’s Leviathan reservoir on Thursday inked a $35 billion deal to supply natural gas to Egypt, in the largest export deal in the country’s history.
Israel’s NewMed Energy, formerly Delek Drilling (part of Yitzhak Tshuva’s Delek Group), which owns a 45.3 percent stake in Leviathan, off the country’s Mediterranean coast, said the partners will sell a total of 130 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas to Egypt through 2040, or until all of the contract quantities are fulfilled.
The deal is expected to funnel hundreds of millions of shekels in revenues from gas royalties and taxes to the country’s state coffers. (Read more)

1. UN confirms 88% of aid trucks in Gaza looted before reaching destination - JNS.org
The United Nations published data on Tuesday showing that 88.7% of aid trucks collected by the international organization in the Gaza Strip in recent months were intercepted before reaching their destination.
According to the U.N., it collected a total of 2,604 trucks between May 19 and Aug. 5 that entered Gaza from Israel, but 2,309 of these were intercepted “peacefully” by Arab mobs or forcefully by armed terrorists during transit in the Strip.
The U.N. Office for Project Services figures showed that over the past two months, the amount of seized humanitarian aid increased even further, with 90.7% of trucks intercepted in June and 94% in July.
The U.N. data seemed to contradict claims by its own under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, Tom Fletcher, who told the “Piers Morgan Uncensored” talk show on July 29 that “the vast, vast majority of the aid that we get in gets to civilians.” (Read more)

- Dear Lord, this is disturbing to hear that this aid meant for civilians is being intercepted before reaching the appropriate destination. We ask that You would send an escort of angels to guard this cargo until it is in the hands of the intended people. We come against a spirit of chaos that seems to accompany this aid and ask that You would direct those in charge of this to find a better way to distribute it. In order to end this crisis, Lord, we pray that You would arrange for the end of this war with the complete surrender of Hamas to Israel and the establishment of an Israeli-friendly government. Amen.

The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday issued a nationwide ground stop for United Airlines flights at several airports due to a ‘technology issue.’
“The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said on Wednesday it issued a ground stop for United Airlines (UAL.O), flights at several U.S. airports while the company itself said its teams were working to resolve a tech outage as soon as possible,” Reuters reported.
‘Due to a technology issue, we are holding United mainline flights at their departure airports. We expect additional flight delays this evening as we work through this issue. Safety is our top priority, and we’ll work with our customers to get them to their destinations,’ United Airlines said in a statement to The Daily Mail. (Read more)

3. Trump To Impose 100% Chip Tariffs, But Will Exempt US Investors Like Apple - ZeroHedge.com
With CEO Tim Cook standing next to him in the Oval Office as the president announced a fresh (and very laughable) $100 billion investment plan by Apple which it would then add to the $500 billion already pledged over the next 4 years (which is ridiculous since Apple spent $43 billion in capex in the past 4 years and generated less than $100 billion in net income in its best year), Trump announced he would impose a 100% tariff on chip and semiconductor imports, but would exempt companies moving production back to the United States.
Apple had previously pledged to spend $500 billion in the US over the next four years, an acceleration over its prior investments and previously announced plans, adding about $39 billion in spending and an additional 1,000 jobs annually. The announcement will bring Apple’s cumulative commitment to $600 billion, and appears to be an ad hoc bundling of pretty much everything on the income and cash flow statements, including CoGS, SG&A, CapEx, buybacks and so on. The previously-planned $500 billion was said to include work on a new server manufacturing facility in Houston, a supplier academy in Michigan and additional spending with its existing suppliers in the country.
“We’re going to be putting a very large tariff on chips and semiconductors, but the good news for companies like Apple is, if you’re building in the United States, or have committed to build, without question, committed to build in the United States, there will be no charge,” Trump told reporters.
“So in other words, we’ll be putting a tariff of approximately 100% on chips and semiconductors. But if you’re building in the United States of America, there’s no charge,” Trump said. “Even though you’re building and you’re not producing yet, in terms of the big numbers of jobs and all of things building, if you’re building, there will be no charge.” (Read more here)

- Father God, although some people are skeptical about the carrying through of the promises of Apple and other companies to move manufacturing to the US to avoid tariffs, we pray that this would actually take place. Lord, we pray for an increase in employment and an increase in product quality and safety. Thank You, Lord, for giving President Trump all the wisdom necessary to manage this important issue. Give him wise advisors and divine strategies to bring our country into Your prosperity.

4. ‘China Is Happy:’ New Memos Expose Homeland Security’s Concerns About Tim Walz CCP Connections - Discern Report
(Just The News)—Newly released internal memos confirm the Department of Homeland Security and FBI had longstanding concerns about Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and his connections to the Chinese Communist Party, especially after he was selected by Vice President Kamala Harris as her presidential running mate last year.
Homeland Security turned over the documents to watchdog group Judicial Watch, which had filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and sued the government earlier this year, seeking communications in an agency group chat that allegedly referenced the probe into Walz. The existence of those messages was shared with the House Oversight Committee last year by whistleblowers, but the Biden-era DHS resisted turning over responsive documents.
“China is happy,” one Homeland Security employee wrote in an explosive message to the group chat called “NST NFT Bi-Weekly Sync” on August 7, 2024, one day after Harris announced Walz as her running mate, the memos show. The employee linked a BBC News article detailing Chinese internet reactions to the choice, which were reported as largely positive.
In response, another employee, whose name is also redacted, suggested looping in the FBI due to its responsibility for domestic counterintelligence, the messages show.

Governor Tim Walz has been visiting and taking students to China since 1993. He has praised communism and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) government for paying workers equally, providing housing, and supplying rice to eat. Tim Walz appears to support communism.

5. ‘We Reviewed the Science’: RFK Jr. Cancels $500 Million in mRNA Research - WND
(WND)—Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Tuesday that 22 mRNA vaccine-development contracts have been canceled.
The total amount of the research grants totals roughly $500 million, according to a report at Fox News.
The mRNA contracts were part of the government’s Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), a division of HHS responsible for the development of vaccines, drugs and other tools to fight national health threats. The termination of the 22 contracts follows a several-weeks-long internal review.
“We reviewed the science, listened to the experts, and acted,” Kennedy said. “BARDA is terminating 22 mRNA vaccine development investments because the data show these vaccines fail to protect effectively against upper respiratory infections like COVID and flu. We’re shifting that funding toward safer, broader vaccine platforms that remain effective even as viruses mutate.” (Read more)

- Holy God, we thank You for raising up Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services. We are grateful for his courage, wisdom, and willingness to seek truth in the face of pressure. 6. Holocaust survivors rally behind Israeli hostages, warn time is running out - All Israel News

Holocaust survivors expressed solidarity with the Israeli hostages and their families on Tuesday at a gathering in Tel Aviv’s Hostage Square. Referring to their own traumatic experiences, the Holocaust survivors warned that time is running out for the remaining hostages held in Gaza by the Hamas terrorist organization.
Naftali Furst (94), who survived Auschwitz and three other concentration camps during World War II, emphasized the importance of backing the families of the hostages.
“I came here with strength to support the families whose children are still in the horror of Gaza’s underground. Without hope, we would not have survived. Your future is still ahead of us. I hope your children are freed and that the government gains some wisdom, some heart, and some Jewish values – and that the hostages are released today,” Furst said. (Read more)

Attorney General Pam Bondi has formed a legal strike force to investigate the treasonous actions exposed by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, including how CIA Director John Brennan and others suppressed intelligence showing that Russia had compromising material, not on Trump, but on Hillary Clinton.

Violent Crime Spurs Calls for Trump to Federalize D.C.

As violent crime surges in the nation’s capital, President Donald Trump is threatening to federalize Washington, D.C. if city authorities fail to control the streets. In a Truth Social post Tuesday night, the president declared violent crime in Washington to be “totally out of control.”
He explained, “Local ‘youths’ and gang members, some only 14, 15, and 16-years-old, are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent Citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released.” He added, “They are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it’s going to happen now!” The president called on lawmakers to change the law in order “to prosecute these ‘minors’ as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14.”
The president shared a photo of a young man sitting on the ground covered in blood, who Trump identified as D.C.’s “most recent victim” who “was beaten mercilessly by local thugs.” Staffers at the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) identified the pictured victim as Edward Coristine, a DOGE engineer. Fellow DOGE employee Marko Elez, who took the photo, reported that Coristine was beaten after he “protected a young woman from an attempted carjacking by 8 thugs near Dupont Circle.” Elez commented, “Violence like this in the heart of DC is completely unacceptable.”
“If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they’re not going to get away with it anymore,” the president threatened. Trump to Tackle Debanking of Conservatives with New EO

President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to address the issue of debanking, citing instances of major banks freezing the funds or closing the accounts of conservatives, seemingly on political grounds.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration has drafted an executive order to penalize financial institutions for discriminating on the basis of politics or religion. The executive order would require regulators to investigate banks and lenders for potential violations of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act or antitrust and consumer financial-protection laws, imposing fines and other penalties on violators and possibly referring some to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for criminal investigation and prosecution.
Over the past several years, prominent conservatives have found their bank accounts closed or their assets frozens or have been denied services or told that they cannot open new accounts, seemingly on the basis of their public political positions. Following the events of January 6, 2021, Melania Trump recounted that her bank account was closed and that her son, Barron, was not allowed to open an account in what the First Lady described as a case of “political discrimination.”
Indigenous Advance Ministries, a Tennessee-based Christian missionary group with operations in Uganda, had its accounts canceled by Bank of America “with scant explanation and minimal warning,” according to Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the attorneys now representing the Christian group. Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski also alleged that UBS (formerly Union Bank of Switzerland) closed his accounts after nearly 20 years. “They said, ‘Your business is no longer welcome.’ That’s what they do to conservatives,” Lewandowski averred.
Trump himself even reported that he had been debanked for his political views. In a Tuesday night interview, the president said that JPMorganChase and Bank of America had refused to open accounts with him, even when he was looking to deposit over $1 billion, forcing him to instead do business with a large number of small banks. Trump recalled that Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan said, “‘We can’t do it.’ So I went to another one, another one, another one. I ended up going to small banks all over the place. I mean, I was putting $10 million here, $10 million there.” JPMorganChase treated him the same way. The president added, “The banks discriminated against me very badly. … They discriminate against many conservatives.” He also observed that “banks are not afraid of anything but a regulator.”
The president also suggested that his predecessor, Joe Biden, and his administration were responsible for pressuring banks to “destroy Trump.” He explained, “I believe that Biden or Kamala — and I don’t think they’re smart enough to do it — but the people that are surrounding the beautiful Resolute Desk, the high-I.Q. people that are radical Left, I believe they told the Banking Commission, the banking regulators, ‘Do everything you can to destroy Trump.’” Trump added, “And that’s what they did.” (The Washington Stand) Read more here.

As CEO of our nation’s financial institutions, we ask that You straighten out the banks that think they can debank any organization, business or individual that disagrees with their ultra-liberal views.
Lord, we are not talking about debanking groups that fund terrorist organizations or practice money laundering and such - we are talking about conservative bank clients who are likely people who espouse Your views and want what is truly best for their families, ministries, businesses and, ultimately, our nation. We are outraged at this banking practice. We ask that those institutions that continue to shun conservative clients be fined and/or closed and prosecuted for showing bias in business dealings.
Lord God, show each of us who love You which financial institutions are practicing integrity on all levels. We ask as well for Your high wisdom for those who regulate the banking industry. And Father, remind us that we are called to tithe to You and to bless the poor and needy, orphans and widows, as we are able to do so. May we be blessed that we may become a blessing to those in need.

Atlantic to teem with tropical activity, concerns to arise for Caribbean, US
|

Budding activity over the vast Atlantic hurricane basin has AccuWeather meteorologists closely watching multiple areas of interest, and some of those may pose a threat to the United States in the coming days.
There will be some tropical concerns near the U.S. coast in the next several days, but the backbone of the Atlantic tropical activity, known as the Cabo Verde season, is about to take center stage. Cabo Verde is a group of islands just west of the African coast and is an approximate starting point for tropical waves of low pressure that can evolve into long-track hurricanes.
Dexter to continue over north Atlantic
Dexter, the fourth tropical storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, is transforming to a tropical rainstorm over the North Atlantic.
As it moves to the east-northeast, it will mainly consist of drenching downpours, gusty thunderstorms and rough seas. If it holds together, it could pass close to the Azores or the United Kingdom.
Near Carolina coast tropical development risk
AccuWeather meteorologists have been monitoring a stalled front that extends from the Southeast states to waters offshore of the Carolinas. This front helped birth Dexter and could assist in the creation of another tropical storm.
