The balance of power in Washington, D.C., is up for grabs in 2026 as a handful of key Senate races will determine whether President Donald Trump and Republicans will maintain their governing trifecta.

In addition to their own competitiveness, many of these key Senate races may say more about the state of politics in 2026 — and the respective parties — beyond their individual results.

Please note:

The five states to watch are: Georgia; Minnesota; Iowa; North Carolina and Michigan.

Lord God, we pray that the eyes and hearts of the American public would be flooded with light so that we may know the truth and choose the correct people to win these Senate races. We ask that the voters will choose candidates that have the values to protect our precious liberties, in Jesus' name. We speak in faith right now that our freedoms would be fully protected and secure, in Jesus' name, amen!

Trump, Zelenskyy say Ukraine peace deal close but 'thorny issues' remain after Florida talks
20-point framework nears completion but territorial disputes with Russia remain unresolved

President Donald Trump said Sunday that peace talks to end the war in Ukraine are close to completion after a meeting in Florida with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with both leaders citing major progress on a 20-point plan while acknowledging unresolved disputes over territory, ceasefire terms and Ukrainian approval.

Trump and Zelenskyy spoke to reporters following their meeting at Mar-a-Lago, describing weeks of negotiations involving U.S., Ukrainian, European Union and NATO officials that have moved a potential peace framework close to the finish line, though several high-stakes issues remain unresolved.

Trump said negotiations have intensified over the past month and suggested discussions are far more advanced than at any previous point in the war, while cautioning that final agreements depend on resolving a small number of difficult questions.

"We could be very close," Trump said. "There are one or two very thorny issues, very tough issues. But I think we’re doing very well. We made a lot of progress today, but really, we’ve made it over the last month. This is not a one-day process. It’s very complicated stuff."

Zelenskyy echoed that assessment, confirming that negotiators have largely agreed on the framework of a deal and crediting sustained diplomacy across multiple international meetings leading up to the Florida talks.

He said negotiations have taken place over several weeks in cities including Geneva, Miami, Berlin and at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, with American and Ukrainian teams working toward a shared peace framework. (Fox News) Read more here.

Lord God, we continue to pray for President Trump that he has wisdom and clarity on what to do when dealing with Ukraine. We continue to pray peace over Ukraine and pray that a deal would come forth quickly that serves the people, in Jesus' name, amen.

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Iran arming ballistic missiles with biological, chemical weapons – report

Iran is developing warheads capable of delivering chemical and biological weapons via ballistic missiles, according to a report over the weekend.

On Sunday, the UK-based, Saudi-owned Iran International published a report citing multiple unnamed military sources who claimed that the Aerospace Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is pursuing the development of special warheads for its ballistic missile arsenal capable of carrying unconventional weapons, including biological and chemical weapons.

The move comes as Iran works to rebuild both its stock of ballistic missiles, which was depleted during the 12-day June war with Israel, and to expand the number of operational ballistic missile launchers it has capable of launching medium- and long-range projectiles.

According to the report, the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the Aerospace Force has accelerated its work on unconventional missile warheads in recent months.

One source cited in the report said Iran is pursuing deployment methods for chemical and biological weapons to create a “complementary deterrent factor,” alongside the country’s conventional ballistic missile arsenal.

The bid to arm Iran’s ballistic missile force with biological and chemical weapons is described in the report as a sign of desperation among Iranian leaders over the possibility of a new Israeli-led air campaign.

“The Iranian leadership views potential Israeli and American attacks as a threat to its very existence and intends, in the event of a conflict, to significantly raise the cost for the opposing side,” one source said.

“The use of unconventional weapons can be justified in situations of existential threat.” (World Israel News) Read more here.

Lord God Almighty, we come before You on bended knee, asking that You release Your angelic host to dismantle this very dangerous weapon! Help us, O Lord we pray, amen and amen!

You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
" (Psalm 91:5-8)

Iranian President Says His Country in ‘Full-Fledged War’ With US, Europe, and Israel
The remarks were made two days before President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Dec. 27 that the Iranian regime is in a full-scale war with the United States, Europe, and Israel—months after his country’s nuclear facilities were bombed during a 12-day-long aerial war.

Pezeshkian said in a Dec. 27 interview released on the website of the country’s leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, that the war is worse than the Iranian conflict with Iraq that began when Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein invaded Iran in 1980 and that lasted throughout the decade.

“In my opinion, we are in a full-fledged war with America, Israel, and Europe; they do not want our country to stand on its feet,” Pezeshkian said. “This war is worse than Iraq’s war against us; if one understands it well, this war is far more complex and difficult than that war.”

The 1980–1988 war with Iraq left more than 1 million casualties on both sides and included reports of chemical weapon and gas attacks.

The U.S. and Israeli militaries both launched strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and other areas during a nearly two-week-long conflict in June. Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel and at a U.S. air base in Qatar in response. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

As the corporate body of Christ, we continue to push back the darkness in the Middle East, and we continue to come against all division, strife, plots, schemes and plans of the enemy to create a hostile living environments and war in Jesus' name. We declare no weapon formed against us shall prosper in Jesus name amen.

“Through you we push back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes. I put no trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame. In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever.” (Psalm 44:5-8)

1. Gantz, Liberman press world on Iran threat - JNS

Blue and White Party leader Benny Gantz on Monday urged the international community to step up pressure on Iran, calling the Islamic Republic a “global” challenge and a direct threat to Israel, as he responded to a JNS question at his party’s faction meeting in the Knesset.

“It seems as if the president of Iran is actually admitting that Iran is indeed what I said about it,” Gantz, a former Israeli defense minister and IDF chief, said in response to a question about Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent statement that his country is at war with the West.

In an interview published on Saturday, Pezeshkian told an official publication of the Islamic Republic that, “In my opinion, we are in a full-fledged war with America, Israel and Europe. They do not want our country to stand on its feet.”

Gantz added that Israel knows how to defend itself but cannot confront the threat alone. He called on regional states and world powers to act through sanctions, diplomatic isolation, intelligence activity, sustained pressure and, if necessary, military action “to make sure it doesn’t go back to nuclear.” (Read more)

2. Mossad's message to Iranians: We're with you, not just from afar, but on the ground - Israel National News

Over the past two days, large-scale protests have been taking place in the streets of Tehran, the capital of Iran, in protest against the worsening economic crisis and the collapse of the local currency.

This is the second consecutive day that citizens have taken to the streets, mainly in markets and central areas of the city.

During the protests, clashes occurred between the demonstrators and security forces. According to reports, riot control methods, including stun grenades and tear gas, were used. (Read more)

3. Iran Faces Nationwide Protests Amid Economic Collapse as Israel Voices Support for Demonstrators - Algemeiner

Iran on Monday experienced a second straight day of expanding nationwide anti-government protests, with violent clashes between demonstrators and security forces escalating as the country grapples with unprecedented domestic crises amid Israel’s open support for the protesters.

On Sunday, thousands of people joined protests across Tehran as shopkeepers closed their stores and went on strike over the country’s deepening economic crisis and the rial — the nation’s currency — plummeting to record lows, Iranian media reported.

Demonstrators are now calling to extend strikes into a third day on Tuesday, with closures reported across key markets and protests spreading nationwide amid mounting economic pressure and growing calls for regime change.

4. Hezbollah chief rejects ‘Israeli-American plan’ to disarm group - JNS

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem on Sunday again rejected efforts to disarm Iran’s Lebanese terror proxy, saying that seizing the group’s weapons “is an Israeli-American plan.”

Paying tribute to late Hezbollah official Mohammad Yaghi (Abu Salim) on the second anniversary of his death, Qassem was quoted by AFP as saying that “to demand exclusive arms control while Israel is committing aggression and America is imposing its will on Lebanon, stripping it of its power, means that you are not working in Lebanon’s interest, but rather in the interest of what Israel wants.”

The Lebanese military is working to complete Hezbollah’s disarmament south of the Litani River by year’s end, under a U.S.-backed ceasefire agreement.

Qassem argued in the televised address that Lebanon should not move forward with disarmament until Israel fulfills its commitments under the ceasefire agreement. The November 2024 ceasefire was meant to end more than a year of fighting between Israel and the Iranian terror proxy. (Read more

5. Israel uncovers Second Temple-period mikveh beneath Western Wall
- Jerusalem Post

Archaeologists have uncovered a rare rock-hewn mikveh, or ritual bath, dating to the final days of the Second Temple period, directly beneath the Western Wall Plaza.

The discovery, announced by the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) and the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, provides a stark physical record of the Roman Empire’s destruction of Jerusalem nearly 2,000 years ago.

The ritual bath was found sealed beneath a significant layer of destruction dated to 70 CE. Within this layer, researchers discovered burned ash and numerous artifacts that offer a snapshot of life just moments before the city fell. Among the finds were various pottery and stone vessels, the latter of which was favored by the Jewish population of the time because stone was considered incapable of contracting ritual impurity. (Read more

1. Trump calls Nigeria strike his ‘Christmas present’ to ISIS - The Hill

President Trump on Friday called the U.S. strikes in Nigeria a “Christmas present” for ISIS militants in Nigeria, citing violence against Christians in the African country’s northwest region.

“I said yesterday, ‘Hit them on Christmas Day. It will be a Christmas present.’ We hit ISIS, who are terrible. They are butchers. We really hit them hard in different locations. They really got hit hard yesterday. They got a very bad Christmas present,” Trump told John Catsimatidis on WABC.

The president said he “told Nigeria, and I told the people around Nigeria, that if you do it, you’re going to get hit.”

U.S. Africa Command (Africom) announced on Thursday “multiple ISIS terrorists” were killed by the strikes, launched in coordination with Nigerian authorities, in the West African nation. (Read more)

Thank You Lord that President Trump delivers on his promises. We pray the terrorists will take heed and believe President Trump when he warns them of the consequences of their actions.

2. Christians beaten, held hostage and Bibles set on fire in brutal attack by Hindu extremists - Christian Post

NEW DELHI — A Hindu extremist mob in northern India assaulted two Christian couples and an attorney for several hours, accusing them of forced conversion.

In Haryana state’s Titoli village, 5 miles from the city of Rohtak, the mob forced one of the Christians, a pastor, to set fire to a heap of Bibles while the Hindu extremists recorded videos that immediately went viral, resulting in 32 complaints to the police.

Pastor Jehovah Das, 65, and Vinod Masih, 42, along with their wives, had been invited to a Christian family’s home in the village to pray and bless the arrival of their second child on Nov. 7, sources said.

About 10 to 12 members of the Arya Samaj (Noble Society), a Hindu reform movement, learned of the Christians’ visit. They phoned several of their associates and gathered a mob of about 50 people that barged into the house.

“They began to beat us with slaps, punches, elbows, kicked us with their legs and held us hostage,” Masih told Morning Star News, adding that they beat the Christians from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. (Read more)

We pray protection for these Christians. Please shield them from any more attacks from these extremists.

3. ‘Gunboat diplomacy on steroids’: US signs security deals across Latin America - The Guardian

While all eyes are on the four-month-long US military campaign against Venezuela, the White House has been quietly striking security agreements with other countries to deploy US troops across Latin America and the Caribbean.

As Donald Trump announced a blockade on oil tankers under sanctions and ordered the seizure of vessels amid airstrikes that have killed more than 100 people in the Caribbean and the Pacific, the US secured military deals with Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru and Trinidad and Tobago in the past week alone.

The agreements – ranging from airport access, as in Trinidad and Tobago, to the temporary deployment of US troops for joint operations against “narco-terrorists” in Paraguay – are being signed under the banner of a so-called “war on drugs”, the same rationale Washington has used to justify its offensive against Venezuela, although White House officials and Trump himself has said that the goals also include seizing the country’s vast energy reserves and bringing down the dictator Nicolás Maduro. (Read more)

Lord, thank You for these security agreements. We pray success for the goals President Trump wants to achieve with these agreements.

4. Nuclear submarine arms race heats up between North and South Korea - NPR

SEOUL, South Korea — An arms race for nuclear-powered submarines is accelerating between North and South Korea amid shifts in the United States' security strategy in the region.

North Korea's state media revealed on Thursday a picture of what it called a "8,700-ton nuclear-powered strategic guided missile submarine." It's the first time North Korea disclosed the tonnage and the apparently completed hull of the submarine since it declared its pursuit for nuclear subs in 2021.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said that the new vessel will help defend his country against "the negative security situation that has come as present reality," according to the country's state media. Kim criticized South Korea's plan to build its own nuclear subs as "an offensive act … that must be countered." (Read more)

Lord, we pray protection for South Korea. Give them strength, wisdom, and skills to outwit North Korea. Bring allies to undergird them against North Korea's threats.

5.  Ambassador Huckabee: Terror attacks threaten any path to lasting peace in Israel - IsraelNationalNews

US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, commented on Friday’s terrorist attack in northern Israel in which two Israelis were murdered.

“Another terror attack on innocent civilians. For the Jew-haters and anti-Israel crowd, these intentional murders threaten a short and long term solution to lasting peace,” said Huckabee.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also commented on the attack and said, "My wife Sara and I send our deepest condolences to the families of those who were murdered in the combined terror attack in the north: [19-year-old] Aviv Maor, of blessed memory, and 68-year-old Shimshon Mordechai, of blessed memory.”

“We wish the wounded a speedy recovery and support the heroic citizen who neutralized the terrorist,” he added. (Read more)

6. Israeli to be charged with spying for Iran near ex-PM Bennett’s home - JNS.org

Security forces announced Thursday they had detained an Israeli citizen on suspicion of espionage on behalf of Iran, including photographing “areas near” the residence of former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett.

Vadim Kupriyanov, an Israeli in his 40s from the Tel Aviv suburb of Rishon Letzion, was arrested earlier this month after he carried out “photography missions” near Bennett’s home, the Israel Police and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced in a joint statement.

An investigation by the International Crime Investigations division of the Israel Police’s National Major Crime Unit (Lahav 433) and the Shin Bet revealed Tehran had ordered Kupriyanov to carry out “a variety of security-related tasks” over the course of approximately two months.

“Among other things, at the request of his handlers, he transferred various photographs he took in his city of residence and in other cities, in exchange for varying sums of money,” according to the statement. (Read more)

Lord, we thank You this individual has been arrested on suspicion of working with Iran to give them security photos. We pray any photos that would bring harm to Israel will be destroyed.

Israel becomes the first country to recognize the Republic of Somaliland as an independent state, more than three decades after it broke away from Somalia.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar sign the declaration for Israel, while Somaliland’s President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi signs for his country.

Speaking to Abdullahi by phone, Netanyahu says the friendship between the countries is “seminal and historic.”

The Daily Jot

From the Pit to the Promise

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, December 29, 2025

Miketz (Genesis 41:1–44:7) and Vayigash (Genesis 44:18–47:27) together form a single, unfolding story of providence, testing, and redemption. Miketz opens in Genesis 41:1 with a precise moment in time: “At the end of two full years Pharaoh dreamed.” Joseph, forgotten in prison, is suddenly summoned. He interprets Pharaoh’s dreams of seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine and offers wise counsel. Pharaoh recognizes more than intelligence, asking, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?” (Genesis 41:38). Joseph is elevated to authority, grain is stored, famine strikes, and hunger drives his brothers to Egypt, where they bow before him without recognition.

These chapters reveal divine providence at work without fanfare. Joseph had once pleaded for release, but freedom came only when the moment served a greater purpose. “God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace,” Joseph says, refusing credit and anchoring the outcome in God’s will (Genesis 41:16). Pharaoh’s dreams, the famine, and the brothers’ journey were not coincidences but carefully aligned events. God’s presence here is quiet, unlike the Exodus story filled with signs and wonders. Miketz invites reflection, not amazement. Only later do we see how delays, disappointments, and silence were shaping a future no human plan could engineer. God was present all along, arranging outcomes beneath the surface of ordinary events. Read More

Trump says he would support Israeli strike on Iranian missiles, nuclear sites

Speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he would “absolutely” support additional Israeli strikes on Iranian missile and nuclear facilities.

JNS asked Trump about his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the possibility of the Israeli premier receiving a potential pardon from Israel’s president over an ongoing corruption and bribery probe.

“Israel, with other people, might not exist right now,” Trump told JNS about Netanyahu. “He’s a wartime prime minister. He’s done a phenomenal job. He’s taken Israel through very dangerous period of trauma.”

The U.S. president said that he had talked with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and that a pardon for Israel’s prime minister was “on its way.”

In remarks to reporters, Trump agreed to military action alongside Israel if Iran “will continue with missiles” and nuclear activities.

“Yes, the nuclear: fast.” Trump said. “One will be yes, absolutely. The other we’ll do it immediately.” (JNS.org) Read more here.

Father God, we thank You that President Trump continues to stand alongside the nation of Israel when and if they must attack their enemies. Praise God!

And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Trump Says US ‘Knocked Out a Big Facility’ in Campaign Against Drug Boats

President Donald Trump said in a radio interview on Dec. 26 that the United States had knocked out “a big facility” last week as part of Washington’s campaign against boats carrying narcotics to the United States.

For days, the comment went unremarked by major media, with the administration not immediately providing any further details on the strike mentioned by Trump. Venezuelan officials also have not commented on the reported strikes or provided additional information.

On Monday, Trump spoke more about the strikes that had taken place, confirming that they had been carried out on Venezuelan soil and were part of the United States’ campaign against drug trafficking in the region.

“There was a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs,” Trump told reporters from Mar-a-Lago, where he was hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “We hit all the boats, and now we hit the area ... it’s the implementation area. That’s where they implement, and that is no longer around.”

It’s still unclear when exactly the reported strikes took place.

“I don’t want to say that. I know exactly who it was but I don’t want to say who it was,” Trump said. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Father God, we thank You for giving us a president who is fearless in the face of danger. We praise You that these strikes against these Venezuelan facilities have been successful, so that our enemy is rendered defeated. We ask for continued protection for President Trump as he continues to wage warfare on behalf of the safety of our people. In Your Name, Abba, we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

"No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD." (Isaian 54:17)
National Guard to patrol New Orleans for New Year’s a year after deadly attack

A National Guard deployment in New Orleans authorized by President Donald Trump will begin Tuesday as part of a heavy security presence for New Year’s celebrations a year after an attack on revelers on Bourbon Street killed 14 people, officials said Monday.

The deployment in New Orleans follows high-profile National Guard missions the Trump administration launched in other cities this year, including in Washington and Memphis, Tennessee. But the sight of National Guard troops is not unusual in New Orleans, where troops earlier this year also helped bolster security for the Super Bowl and Mardi Gras.

“It’s no different than what we’ve seen in the past,” New Orleans police spokesperson Reese Harper said. “They’re not here for immigration purposes. They’re here for that added layer of visibility. This is for visibility and just really to keep our citizens safe. It’s just another tool in the toolbox and another layer of security.”

The Guard is expected be confined to the French Quarter area popular with tourists and won’t be engaging in assisting in immigration enforcement, Harper said. Guardsmen will operate similar to earlier this year when they patrolled the area around Bourbon Street following the vehicle-ramming attack on Jan. 1.

The 350 Guard members will stay through Carnival season, when residents and tourists descend on the Big Easy to partake in costumed celebrations and massive parades before ending with Mardi Gras in mid-February.

Louisiana National Guard spokesperson Lt. Col. Noel Collins said in a written statement that the Guard will support local, state, and federal law enforcement “to enhance capabilities, stabilize the environment, assist in reducing crime, and restoring public trust.”

In total, more than 800 local, state and federal law enforcement officials will be deployed in New Orleans to close off Bourbon Street to vehicular traffic, patrol the area, conduct bag searches and redirect traffic, city officials said during a news conference Monday. (Breitbart) Read more here.

Father God, we do thank You that these National Guard troops will now be
deployed into the City of New Orleans, to secure everyone's safety during Mardi Gras. May all be protected under the Blood of the Lamb. In Your Holy Name we pray, amen.

Top space and astronomy stories
to watch in 2026
From a historic human lunar flyby to a rare total solar eclipse at sea, these milestones are expected to spark excitement about space exploration in 2026.

Earth’s nearest celestial neighbor is set to take center stage in 2026, with major lunar missions and a rare solar eclipse highlighting the year in space and astronomy.

NASA is preparing for its first crewed mission around the moon in decades, while multiple robotic landers are scheduled to target the lunar surface. Later in the year, a total solar eclipse — with prime viewing from parts of Europe and the northern Atlantic — will give skywatchers another reason to look up.

Here’s a look at the space and astronomy stories expected to make headlines in 2026:

  • Artemis II astronaut launch to the moon
As early as February, NASA plans to launch a crewed mission around the moon as part of the Artemis II program. The mission will mark the first time astronauts travel beyond low-Earth orbit since the Apollo era and the first crewed lunar flyby in more than 50 years.
  • Total solar eclipse draws cruise ship crowds
A total solar eclipse will sweep across parts of the Northern Hemisphere on Aug. 12, 2026, though viewers in the continental U.S. will need to travel to see totality. The eclipse will be visible along a narrow path across the Arctic Ocean, Greenland, Iceland, the Atlantic Ocean, northern Spain and parts of Portugal. Several cruise lines, including Princess Cruises, Cunard, Virgin Voyages, Holland America and Silversea, are offering eclipse-themed voyages promising views of totality from sea.
  • More moon landing attempts
Multiple robotic missions to the moon are planned for 2026 under NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program, which partners with private companies to deliver science and technology payloads to the lunar surface.
