3 Jewish women hid their pregnancies from the Nazis. 80 years later, their children recall their mothers' journeys and finding each other
|

(MSN) The Jewish mothers of Eva Clarke, Hana Berger-Moran and Mark Olsky worked as slave laborers for the Nazis near the end of World War II, but managed to hide their pregnancies. The mothers and their babies survived the war after they were liberated by the Allies Sixty-five years later, the women's children, now adults, met for the first time at the concentration camp where their mothers were held.
Facing an environment of misery and death, three young pregnant Jewish women were sent to the infamous Nazi concentration camp in Auschwitz in 1944. Originally destined to be executed, the three women not only managed to hide their pregnancies from their German captors, but they also successfully gave birth to their babies and survived after the Allied forces liberated Europe from the Nazis.
Now, those children of those three women — Eva Clarke, Hana Berger-Moran and Mark Olsky — all of them 80 years old and among the youngest survivors of the Holocaust, have recently shared stories about their mothers’ ordeal during the Holocaust and their own miraculous survival. The three babies didn’t know about each other until they met for the first time as adults in 2010. "We found each other," Olsky told 60 Minutes in a segment that aired on Sunday, Feb. 15, about himself and his fellow survivors Clarke and Berger-Moran. "We should have been together from day one." **

Supreme Court blocks Trump tariffs in major test of executive branch powers- Fox

The Supreme Court on Friday blocked President Donald Trump’s use of an emergency law to unilaterally impose sweeping tariffs on most U.S. trading partners, delivering a blow to the president in a case centered on one of his signature economic policies — one he characterized as "life or death" for the U.S. economy.
In a 6-3 decision, the justices invalidated Trump's tariffs. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Brett Kavanaugh dissented.
"The Framers gave that power to ‘Congress alone’ — notwithstanding the obvious foreign affairs implications of tariffs," Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the majority. "And whatever may be said of other powers that implicate foreign affairs, we would not expect Congress to relinquish its tariff power through vague language, or without careful limits."
Roberts noted that Trump used "two words" that were "separated by 16 others" in the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), "regulate" and "importation," to justify that he had the "independent power to impose tariffs on imports from any country, of any product, at any rate, for any amount of time."

President Donald Trump signed a global 10% tariff on all countries Friday evening following the Supreme Court’s ruling blocking his tariffs earlier in the day.
The president announced Friday evening that it was his “great honor” to have signed “a Global 10% Tariff on all Countries, which will be effective almost immediately.” The move is intended to address the fundamental international payment problems, the White House said, and to continue the Trump administration’s work to rebalance trade relationships in order to benefit American workers.
Trump is invoking his authority under section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, empowering him to address “certain fundamental international payment problems through surcharges and other special import restrictions,” the White House clarified in a fact sheet. The proclamation imposes a 10% ad valorem import duty on all articles imported into the U.S. for 150 days, taking effect February 24 at 12:01 a.m. (Daily Wire) Read more

|

Potential U.S. military strikes on Iran could target specific individuals and even pursue regime change, a report said.
Two U.S. officials who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity reportedly said those are options that have emerged in the planning stage, if ordered by President Donald Trump. They did not say which individuals could be targeted, but Trump, notably, in 2020 ordered the U.S. military attack that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' elite Quds Force.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House and the Department of War for comment.
Trump already said Friday that he is "considering" a limited military strike on Iran to pressure its leaders into a deal over its nuclear program, when asked by a reporter at the White House.
Last week, when questioned if he wanted regime change in Iran, the president said, "Well it seems like that would be the best thing that could happen."
Trump on Thursday suggested the window for a breakthrough is narrowing in talks with Iran, indicating Tehran has no more than "10, 15 days, pretty much maximum" to reach an agreement.
"We’re either going to get a deal, or it’s going to be unfortunate for them," he said.

NORAD scrambles jets to intercept Russian bombers near Alaska - Fox
|

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) launched multiple U.S. fighter jets after tracking Russian military aircraft operating in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on Thursday.
NORAD says it launched two F-16s, two F-35s, one E-3 and four KC-135s to "intercept, positively identify, and escort the aircraft until they departed the Alaskan ADIZ."
"The Russian military aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace," NORAD said in a press release. "This Russian activity in the Alaskan ADIZ occurs regularly and is not seen as a threat."
Two Russian Tu-95s, two Su-35s, and one A-50 were identified in the ADIZ, though they did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace, according to NORAD.

Iran and the United States continued to slide rapidly toward military conflict at the weekend, as hopes faded for a diplomatic solution to their standoff over Tehran’s nuclear program and regional actions, officials on both sides and diplomats across the Gulf and Europe said.
Israel and Iran’s Gulf neighbors now consider a conflict to be more likely than a settlement, the sources said, with Washington building up one of its biggest military deployments in the region since the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Israel’s government believes Tehran and Washington are at an impasse and is making preparations for possible joint military action with the United States, though no decision has been made yet on whether to carry out such an operation, said a source familiar with the planning. (Read more)

President Joe Biden’s domestic policy chief is promising revenge against the voters, business executives, and appointees who support President Donald Trump’s 2024 election mandate.
“A very prominent public figure, who has served at nearly the very highest levels, once told me … ‘Revenge is best served cold,’ and the older I get, the more I see the wisdom of that,” Susan Rice said in a February 19 video interview by a fellow Democrat.
She added:
When it comes to the elites, you know, the corporate interests, the law firms, the universities, the media … it’s not going to end well for them, for those that decided that they would act in their perceived very narrow self-interest, which I would underscore, is very short-term self-interest, and, you know, take a knee to Trump.
The comments reflect the Democrats’ deep personal resentment and anger at voters’ rejection of their elite agendas, and of the voters’ support for Trump’s populist agenda in 2016 and 2o24.
That resentment makes it difficult for Democrats to make concessions to the voters, although many have just adopted moderate-sounding rhetoric.
Rice was a foreign policy adviser to President Barack Obama until he was replaced by Trump. She was the top domestic policy adviser to Joe Biden from January 2021 to May 2023, and saw her policy accomplishments trumped in November 2024. Read more

A California judge is requiring a San Diego children’s hospital to continue providing transgender treatments to minors for now, extending a temporary restraining order as hospitals in California and New York take sharply different approaches to President Donald Trump’s executive order threatening to pull federal funding.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Matthew Braner agreed last week to extend a temporary restraining order by 15 days, allowing Rady Children’s Health to continue providing hormone therapy and puberty blockers to minors despite the Trump administration's efforts to ban such treatments and fears of losing federal funds.
The judge's order comes as a New York City hospital announced this week it is ending its Transgender Youth Health Program in part due to the "current regulatory environment" — a result of Trump's executive order aimed at banning transgender medical procedures for minors. Read more

The Trump-Kennedy Center was the target of what officials described as a "calculated, malicious attack" early Friday after a "toxic chemical" was poured onto its outdoor ice rink, forcing a performance cancellation.
Trump-Kennedy Center leadership said a dark substance was poured onto the ice surface, severely damaging the outdoor arena.
Leadership said the incident was not a protest but an act of outright vandalism targeting the Trump-Kennedy Center.
"Today, a targeted attack on the Trump Kennedy Center vandalized and destroyed our outdoor arena, causing severe damage that we unfortunately must cancel tonight’s performance, but we are working feverishly to complete repairs so programming can resume tomorrow," Roma Daravi, vice president of public relations for the Trump-Kennedy Center, said in a statement to Fox News Digital. "We have turned over video footage to the authorities who are investigating this calculated, malicious attack and hold those responsible accountable."
Leadership added that violence "will not be tolerated" at the Trump-Kennedy Center and said those responsible would be held accountable.
Trump-Kennedy Center officials said a brown-black substance was poured across the ice early Friday morning. Images from the scene show the material spread widely across the rink, with what appears to be a gallon-sized milk container visible on the ice. 4. Maryland Dems Admit They Cannot Stop Sheriffs from Working with ICE, Despite Gov. Wes Moore’s ‘Ban’ - Breitbart
Nine Maryland county sheriffs on Wednesday vowed to continue working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), despite a ban signed by Gov. Wes Moore (D-MD) on Tuesday that ended official agreements between local police and the federal agency, as state Democrats admit the new rules cannot stop the cooperation.
“It is the biggest betrayal to law enforcement and public safety that I have ever seen,” said Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis. “This is sad day for Maryland, it really is. This is a sad day for Maryland.”
The group of Maryland sheriffs held a joint press conference on Wednesday to decry the ban on state participation in the federal government’s 287(g) program that pairs local law enforcement departments to federal agencies to work directly in immigration enforcement and other law enforcement operations.
Sheriff Lewis ripped Gov. Moore and state Democrats for the folly of banning the 287(g) program as a “betrayal to law enforcement,” and pointed out that the ban does not stop ICE from doing its work, regardless.
“The abolishment of the 287(g) program is not the abolishment of ICE. They’re going nowhere. In fact, they’re going to intensify their efforts,” Lewis said, according to WBAL-TV. “Mark my words, you will see a dramatic increase in the presence of ICE in this state.” Read more

Lord, thank You that there are still some law enforcement officials who will move to help Federal agents when they are in danger. We have seen so much dangerous upheaval after similar Democrat demands that we are thankful that at least some of these Maryland Sheriffs see the problem and are standing against it. We ask that they see Your Hand, and that they will seek Your blessing and grace in this situation.

5. ‘Never Forgotten’: Trump Delivers $10M To Community Still Haunted By Toxic Disaster- Daily Wire
President Donald Trump announced on Thursday night that his administration would provide $10 million in economic assistance to the East Palestine, Ohio, community as it continues to recover from the disastrous train derailment and chemical spill in 2023.
Trump vowed to “never” forget about the Americans affected by the derailment and blasted former President Joe Biden, saying he “betrayed” the residents of East Palestine. Trump’s move on Thursday came just after the third anniversary of the disaster, which forced some residents of the small Ohio community to leave their homes for months after toxic chemicals leaked into the ground and air.
“To the Great People of East Palestine, Ohio, who were disgracefully betrayed and forgotten about by Crooked Joe Biden — ‘TRUMP’ has never forgotten about you, and never will!” he wrote on Truth Social. “In addition to our Administration’s Longterm Health Study for the benefit of the residents, we are providing $10 Million Dollars through the Economic Development Administration to help the Community continue its Economic Recovery from the disastrous train derailment.”
The Economic Development Administration, which is part of the Commerce Department, focuses on investing in communities throughout the United States to “establish a foundation for long-term job growth and build durable regional economies.” The Daily Wire reached out to the Economic Development Administration for more information on Trump’s plan to pump $10 million into East Palestine’s local economy.

6. Rep. Fine to Introduce ‘Protecting Puppies from Sharia Act’ After Backlash Over Social Media Post- Breitbart
Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) is moving forward with legislation aimed at safeguarding dog ownership nationwide following days of criticism, as well as calls for censure, resignation, and removal from committees, over a social media post in which he wrote, “If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one.”
Fine posted on X Thursday evening:
I am proud to introduce the Protecting Puppies from Sharia Act. Democrats are losing their minds because I made a simple statement—given a choice between our dogs and those who would ban them, the choice is easy. They can pound sand. This bill will ban federal funds to any state or local government that considers dogs ‘haram.’ Proceed accordingly, Mamdani.”
Fine attached a graphic to the post featuring his common response to critics — a modified Gadsden flag with a puppy in place of the snake alongside the phrase “Don’t tread on me” — which further stated, “‘In America, we will not allow anyone to tell us that we cannot have dogs. My bill protects Americans’ right to own a dog and would not allow federal funding to be given to any state or local government that bans them as Haram. There are 57 countries that are Sharia compliant; the United States will not be the 58th.’”
Fine revealed he is launching the bill with Sharia Free-America Caucus Chairs Chip Roy (R-TX) and Keith Self (R-TX), along with Brandon Gill (R-TX), Mary Miller (R-IL), Eli Crane (R-AZ), Sheri Biggs (R-SC), and House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Harris (R-MD). He later added Eric Burlison (R-MO) and Mark Harris (R-NC) as cosponsors.
According to reporting by The Hill, it is unclear whether any state or local governments currently prohibit residents from owning dogs outright, although some jurisdictions maintain breed-specific restrictions. The legislation also features a nonbinding “sense of Congress” portion stating that “Sharia law is a foreign concept that is against the pursuit of happiness” and that “it is a right of all Americans to own a dog.” Read more

Pope Leo Lets Trump Know Whether He Will Join 'Board of Peace'

Pope Leo XIV will not join President Donald Trump’s newly formed Board of Peace, the Vatican announced on Tuesday.
The entity — which exists to create a lasting peace in Gaza — was formed by Trump last month in Davos, Switzerland. Trump had invited Pope Leo to join the effort.
Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin said that the Holy See “will not participate in the Board of Peace because of its particular nature, which is evidently not that of other States,” per a report from Vatican News.
Parolin added that “there are points that leave us somewhat perplexed,” and there are “some critical points that would need to find explanations.”
But Parolin said the important element is that “an attempt is being made to provide a response.”
He added, “However, for us there are certain critical issues that should be resolved.”
One particular issue is that “at the international level it should above all be the UN that manages these crisis situations. This is one of the points on which we have insisted.” (The Western Journal) Read more

SCOTUS ruled 6-3 that, under the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act, Trump does not have the authority to impose tariffs, a power the U.S. Constitution assigns to the legislature.
Conservative Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Brett Kavanaugh dissented from the majority. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett joined the three liberal justices.
Of note, Trump helped nominate both Gorsuch and Barrett — and he seemed to call them out specifically without naming names.
“The Supreme Court’s ruling on tariffs is deeply disappointing, and I’m ashamed of certain members of the court, absolutely ashamed for not having the courage to do what’s right for our country,” Trump said shortly after the ruling was announced, according to Politico.
He also took further particular umbrage with Gorsuch and Barrett.
“I think it’s an embarrassment to their families, you want to know the truth — the two of them,” he said of the two justices, after reporters asked whether he regrets nominating them.
This 6-3 ruling has understandably rankled Trump, whose economic plans for the U.S. leaned heavily on tariffs.
And now the president has at least one damning theory as to why the Supreme Court he helped shape went against one of his biggest campaign policies.
“It’s my opinion that the court has been swayed by foreign interests and a political movement that is far smaller than people would ever think,” Trump said, according to the U.K.’s Guardian. (Western Journal) Read more

A man in his early 20s was shot and killed early Sunday after allegedly breaching the secure perimeter of President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, the U.S. Secret Service announced.
The Secret Service said the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when the suspect made an "unauthorized entry" at the property.
The individual was observed near the north gate carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can.
Agents and a deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) confronted the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff Ric Bradshaw confirmed to Fox News that the suspect was 21-year-old Austin Tucker Martin of North Carolina.
No Secret Service or PBSO personnel were injured, and no Secret Service protectees were present at the location during the time of the incident, officials said. Trump was also not in Florida when the shooting occurred.
The FBI, Secret Service and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are investigating, including the man’s background, actions and potential motive, as well as the use of force.
Bradshaw said at a press conference that a deputy and two Secret Service agents on the detail went to investigate after an individual made his way onto the "inner perimeter" of Mar-a-Lago. (Fox News) Read more

The Story Behind the World-Famous Photograph of U.S. Marines Raising the American Flag During the Battle of Iwo Jima

Joe Rosenthal’s iconic photos from Iwo Jima helped the United States raise $26 billion for the war and served as the basis for the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia.
On February 23, 1945, four bloody days after U.S. troops landed on Iwo Jima, Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal captured an image of Marines raising the American flag on Mount Suribachi. The photo went on to win the Pulitzer Prize and to visually define the Pacific Theater of World War II.
Iwo Jima, a volcanic island about 660 miles south of Tokyo, was of interest to the U.S. military because of its use by Japanese forces to launch fighter aircraft. After taking off from Iwo Jima airfields, these planes intercepted U.S. B-29 bombers and attacked critical airfields on the U.S.-occupied Mariana Islands.
In response, officials decided the military needed to capture Iwo Jima from the Japanese. Following months of attacks by air and sea, the Marines launched their ground invasion on February 19, 1945. The brutal battle that ensued lasted 36 days, resulting in the deaths of roughly 7,000 Marines. Another 20,000 were wounded in combat. By March 26, 1945, the United States declared control of the island.
Rosenthal’s iconic shot came early in the bloody campaign, and its fame can be partly attributed to the danger the photographer faced on assignment. He recounted navigating volcanic ash, Japanese mines and enemy fire to reach Mount Suribachi, the island’s most prominent feature, after hearing over the radio that a group of Marines was preparing to raise the American flag there.
