Chicago Children’s Hospital Stops Pediatric Trans Drugs
|
|
Chicago’s prestigious Lurie Children’s Hospital announced it will no longer start gender-affirming medications for children and teens under age 18 who have not previously been treated at the hospital. The policy change follows a federal threat of investigation and enforcement actions from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) tied to ongoing federal efforts to limit gender-transition treatments for minors.
Lurie Children’s Hospital said it will pause initiating puberty blockers and hormone therapies for new pediatric patients under 18, citing “pending Federal court rulings” and the “rapidly evolving legal landscape” as reasons for the decision. The pause applies to new cases; youths who previously received such treatments at the hospital are not affected.
The announcement comes after HHS signaled a potential investigation into several U.S. hospitals over their gender-affirming care practices for minors, a move widely linked to enforcement of policies under President Trump aimed at restricting such treatments. HHS’s general counsel publicly stated that procedures perceived as “sex-rejecting” and causing “permanent harm” to children would draw scrutiny.
Hospital officials framed their updated stance as a response to federal legal and regulatory pressures, rather than a standalone medical decision. According to reporting, the hospital paused these interventions because of the threat of federal action that could jeopardize its participation in Medicare and Medicaid or expose it to legal risks. Next major storm threat looms for Northeast on the heels of historic, deadly weekend snowstorm

The FOX Forecast Center is closely monitoring an evolving weather pattern around the Northern Hemisphere that could open the door for a potential nor'easter this upcoming weekend.

As much of the Northeast digs out from the biggest snowstorm in half a decade, New York, Philadelphia, and Boston could all be on track to see another major system on its heels. Unlike the sprawling cross-country nature of the historic storm this past weekend, this next threat would be a coastal system.
The FOX Forecast Center is closely monitoring an evolving weather pattern around the Northern Hemisphere that could open the door for a potential nor'easter this upcoming weekend. According to the FOX Forecast Center, a robust disturbance in the upper layers of the atmosphere could get caught up in this massive dip in the jet stream and potentially spawn a storm off the Mid-Atlantic or Southeast coast. The dip will serve multiple roles, including reinforcing cold air across the region and suppressing the storm track farther to the south.
Later this week, a strong upper-level disturbance moving through the jet stream could trigger the formation of a low-pressure system off the East Coast as the trough shifts eastward. However, there is a large degree of uncertainty among computer forecast models regarding this outcome.
FOX Weather Meteorologists Bob Van Dillen and Jane Minar noted Monday that both the traditional European and the AI-driven European forecast models indicated more impacts for the Mid-Atlantic coast, while the American GFS forecast model was less bullish on a major impact.
But should these forecast ingredients come together, it could set the stage for another snowstorm for the northeastern portion of the Interstate 95 corridor, which had been suffering from a decade-long snow drought in many locales. (Read more)

Trump says Iran called 'numerous' times to make deal as carrier enters Middle East waters

Any potential agreement would require Tehran to remove enriched uranium and change support for regional proxy forces, official sources said

President Donald Trump said Iran appears to be looking to negotiate with the U.S. amid a growing military buildup in the Middle East. In a Monday interview with Axios, Trump suggested that Tehran had reached out on "numerous occasions" and "want[s] to make a deal." "They want to make a deal. I know so. They called on numerous occasions. They want to talk," the president told the outlet.
According to U.S. officials, also cited by Axios, any potential agreement would need Tehran to remove all enriched uranium, cap its long-range missile stockpile, a change in support for regional proxy forces, and cease independent uranium enrichment, terms Iranian leaders have not agreed to.
Trump also described the situation with Iran as "in flux," and pointed to the arrival of what he called "a big armada next to Iran. Bigger than Venezuela," referencing the recent deployment of U.S. naval assets.
As previously reported by Fox News Digital, the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier entered CENTCOM waters in the Indian Ocean on Monday amid increasing threats from Iran, a senior U.S. official said.
Trump had told reporters Jan. 21, "We have a big flotilla going in that direction, and we’ll see what happens. We have a big force going towards Iran. I’d rather not see anything happen, but we’re watching them very closely."
The U.S. military buildup comes amid widespread unrest inside Iran following protests that began Dec. 28.
Trump is expected to hold further consultations this week, Axios said, before adding that White House officials said an attack is still on the table. (Fox News) Read more here.

Trump admin wins court victory freeing ICE agents from Minnesota protest restrictions

8th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a lower court ruling that blocked certain tactics against anti-ICE agitators in Minnesota
|

A federal appeals court sided with the Trump administration Monday in a ruling that blocks restrictions on tactics being used by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents while dealing with anti-ICE agitators in Minnesota.
The ruling by the three-judge panel 8th US Circuit Court of Appeals put a stay on a lower court ruling that prevented officers from arresting, detaining, pepper-spraying or retaliating against protesters in Minneapolis without probable cause as anti-ICE agitators continue to confront authorities carrying out enforcement operations.
"We accessed and viewed the same videos the district court did," the appeals court said in the ruling. "What they show is observers and protesters engaging in a wide range of conduct, some of it peaceful but much of it not. They also show federal agents responding in various ways."
The lawsuit alleged that federal authorities violated the civil rights of six protesters.
Last week, the court temporarily lifted restrictions on ICE agents' use of force against protesters in Minnesota. Monday's ruling grants a "FULL STAY," U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said.
"Liberal judges tried to handcuff our federal law enforcement officers, restrict their actions, and put their safety at risk when responding to violent agitators," she wrote on X. "The DOJ went to court. We got a temporary stay. NOW, the 8th Circuit has fully agreed that this reckless attempt to undermine law enforcement cannot stand." (Fox News) Read more here,

We pray for protection over ICE and Border Patrol agents and we bind the spirit of lawlessness unleashed and organized in Minneapolis, in Jesus's name and we pray for weapons of righteousness from heaven to be released.

As Anti-ICE Chaos Continues, Obama Encourages More Protests

Over the weekend, another fatal shooting sparked chaos in Minnesota. And, as tensions between law enforcement and Minnesotans rose, former President Barack Obama was quick to fan the flames, blaming President Trump for the violence and calling for more protests.

"Obama wrapped his call for nationwide action against the federal government in a tone of regret, and he portrayed the street protests as defensive measures against a tyrannical government: The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault. Federal law enforcement and immigration agents have a tough job, but Americans expect them to carry out their duties in a lawful, accountable way, and to work with, rather than against, state and local officials to ensure public safety. That’s not what we’re seeing in Minnesota. In fact, we’re seeing the opposite." (End quote)
Alex Pretti was an armed protestor who was shot and killed by Border Patrol agents in a confrontation in Minneapolis on Sunday. Officials in the Trump administration said that Pretti wanted to “perpetuate violence” and “violently resisted” law enforcement, stressing that agents only fired out of fear for their lives. His death comes nearly three weeks after ICE officers shot and killed another protestor, Renee Good, as she was attempting to hit federal law enforcement with her car.
Obama did not mention any of this context in his statement, instead voicing his disagreement with the Trump administration’s statements on both deaths. The former also called for the current administration to work with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, despite the fact that both of them have antagonized and refused to work with President Trump for months now.
Most notably, Obama also called for Americans across the nation to “draw inspiration from the wave of peaceful protests in Minneapolis and other parts of the country.” While this call may have been made in good faith, it ignores that the protests in Minnesota are not at all peaceful. Last week, for example, protestors stormed a church in St. Paul, harassing and threatening congregants. Law enforcement has also faced attacks. One ICE officer had his finger bitten off by a protestor (WARNING: link contains graphic content), and CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott shared on X that protestors attempted to force their way into a Minneapolis hotel Border Patrol agents were staying in.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration may soon change its approach in Minnesota. The President himself recently signaled this change was coming, announcing on Truth Social that Border Czar Tom Homan was on his way to the state. Additionally, President Trump said on Monday that he had a “very good call” with Governor Walz, who reportedly requested to work together with the federal government in Minnesota. It’s unclear exactly what was discussed, but it seems we may finally see the temperature come back down in Minnesota.

1. Herzog warns: 'Never again' is failing - Israel National News
President Isaac Herzog delivered remarks on Tuesday, International Holocaust Remembrance Day, at the Second International Conference on Combating Antisemitism in Jerusalem.
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism at the initiative of Minister Amichai Chikli and was attended by Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, along with other international leaders.
At the outset of his address, President Herzog referred to what he described as a "hugely significant development" for Israel and Jews around the world, announcing that Staff Sgt. Ran Gvili had been returned to Israel after 834 days.
According to the President, Gvili "didn’t hesitate for a moment on October 7th," running "directly into the line of fire to protect his country, his fellow citizens, and fellow human beings." Herzog said Gvili’s return marked "a significant turning point," noting that for the first time since 2014, "not a single Israeli citizen, living or dead, is being held as a human bargaining chip in Gaza." Eighty-one years after the Holocaust, antisemitism remains rampant in the heart of the former Third Reich, with rising antisemitic hate crimes in Germany and incidents targeting Jewish communities in Poland drawing widespread condemnation.
On Tuesday, as the world marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a group of Orthodox Israelis waiting to board a flight to Israel at Krakow Airport in Poland were physically and verbally assaulted by an airport employee, in the latest antisemitic incident drawing condemnation from officials and community leaders.
The travelers were praying before boarding their flight when the employee noticed them and began shouting antisemitic slurs while demanding that they stop.
When the group members explained they were nearly finished, the assailant became even more aggressive, reportedly spitting on one person and pushing another. (Read more)

Israel regards all elements of Hamas, including the police, as components of a terrorist organization.
Hamas retains control of just under half of Gaza following an October ceasefire deal brokered by US President Donald Trump. The agreement ties further Israeli troop withdrawals to Hamas giving up its weapons.

1. Meta, TikTok and YouTube face landmark trial over youth addiction claims - OANN.com
Three of the world’s biggest tech companies face a landmark trial in Los Angeles starting this week over claims that their platforms — Meta’s Instagram, ByteDance’s TikTok and Google’s YouTube — deliberately addict and harm children.
Jury selection starts this week in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. It’s the first time the companies will argue their case before a jury, and the outcome could have profound effects on their businesses and how they will handle children using their platforms. The selection process is expected to take at least a few days, with 75 potential jurors questioned each day through at least Thursday. A fourth company named in the lawsuit, Snapchat parent company Snap Inc., settled the case last week for an undisclosed sum.
KGM claims that her use of social media from an early age addicted her to the technology and exacerbated depression and suicidal thoughts. Importantly, the lawsuit claims that this was done through deliberate design choices made by companies that sought to make their platforms more addictive to children to boost profits. This argument, if successful, could sidestep the companies’ First Amendment shield and Section 230, which protects tech companies from liability for material posted on their platforms. (Read more)

Praise God that these bigtech agencies are finally being held accountable for the devious things they have done over the years in order to become incredibly wealthy and powerful at the expense of our privacy and protections over our children. Father, we pray for a just outcome here and that the big tech groups are compelled to remove the addictive features and completely re-work everything for the benefit of families and not themselves, in the name of Jesus. We also pray for the implementation of greater safeguards to be made available for parents to implement, in Jesus's name.

2. How Your News Source Completely Changes What You Believe About Immigration - Daily Signal
Texas has accounted for 25% of all ICE arrests since enforcement ramped up. The state has processed thousands upon thousands of deportations. No riots. No mob violence against federal officers. No churches stormed during worship services. Minnesota represents less than 1% of ICE arrests. And Minneapolis is on fire.
At Cygnal, we recently surveyed voters on whether the Trump administration’s deportation efforts have gone too far, are about right, or haven’t gone far enough.
The results: 50% said too far, 48% said about right or not far enough. That’s a statistical tie. A country split down the middle. But if you only consumed legacy media coverage, you’d assume 80% of Americans are horrified by what’s happening. You’d think the deportation efforts represent some unprecedented crisis of conscience for the nation. They don’t.

We pray for truth to overwhelm lies, deceptions and manipulations of language within the news media, in Jesus's name. Abba, it seems that media, in all its many forms, is something that is seldom prayed about, but wields incredible power in the home, hearts and lives of the citizens. Father, we pray for Your divine intervention upon those who drive the perceptions of we, the people, by subtly or blatantly controlling the language, narrative and presentations of media messaging, in Jesus's name. Let God arise upon America.

3. Middle East Amid Heightened Iran Tensions - The Epoch Times
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced a multi-day airpower readiness exercise in the Middle East at a time of heightened tensions with Iran.
In a Jan. 27 statement, CENTCOM said U.S. Air Force components will conduct the exercise to confirm “procedures for rapid movement of personnel and aircraft.”

5. Alex Pretti Committed Previous Felony on Officers Before Deadly Attack - PJMedia

Democrats want you to believe that Alex Pretti, the man who died during a violent clash with Border Patrol in Minneapolis, was an innocent legal observer with a heart of gold. It turns out that Pretti’s armed assault that resulted in his death was not his first illegal interference with federal immigration officers.
The underlying issue here is that Democrats have encouraged their activists to believe that they can commit any amount of violence and dangerous illegal behavior without any real consequences. Frankly, I personally also find it concerning that this man Pretti was an ICU nurse, and yet he apparently spent his free time committing felonies. And yes, 18 U.S. Code § 111 bans anyone from interfering with federal operations or attempting to block or assault federal officers. It is Libs of TikTok that is asking VCU Health in Richmond, Virginia, the organization's thoughts on a nurse employee who suggests people inject ICE agents with a drug that paralyzes them and stops their breathing.
The references are to nurse Malinda Rose Cook, a CRNA at the hospital.
"She posted a series of videos encouraging people to inject ICE agents with succinylocholine, a temporary paralysis drug, and spray poison on them. She also encourages woman to go on dates with agents and drug their food. Any comment @VCUHealth? How can you have such a vile person working with patients? How can anyone feel safe at your facilities if you employ such people?" Libs of TikTok said.

God of Righteousness, it is so shocking to learn about the many ways medical professionals like this woman are conjuring up to harm, if not kill, innocent people. We bind this mind-blinding spirit and pray for those who are being controlled by it to be set free by an encounter with the Risen Savior. We pray for colleagues, family, and friends who know You Abba, to be bold and courageous in sharing Your truth with these confused medical professionals, as well as with teachers and and all others in such bondage, in Jesus's name. The Hezbollah Brigades called on Sunday for other terrorist groups to prepare for a comprehensive war, including suicide operations, in support of Iran amid mounting U.S. pressure on Tehran, The New Region reported.
Hajj Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi, the secretary-general of Iraq's Iran-backed Hezbollah Brigades, said in a statement that "we address our call to our mujahideen brothers in the east and west of the earth ... to prepare for a comprehensive war in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the fortress and pride of the nation, which has stood for more than four decades alongside the oppressed and all the just causes of the nation of Muhammad."
Hamidawi's message was released shortly after reports that the USS Abraham Lincoln arrived in the Middle East and entered striking range of Iran, amid repeated threats by President Donald Trump to intervene should a crackdown on protesters escalate.
Hamidawi emphasized in his statement that "we affirm to the enemies that the war on the Republic will not be a picnic; rather, you will taste the bitterest forms of death, and nothing will remain of you in our region."
The group was designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. in 2009. Washington has repeatedly called on the disarmament of armed groups within Iraq, saying that the presence of such factions undermines Iraq's sovereignty, according to The New Region.
The U.S. has increased efforts to curb Tehran's influence in Iraq, particularly by targeting Iran-backed militias such as the Hezbollah Brigades, as well as financial entities and networks that finance the militias and Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. (Newsmax) Read more here.

A coordinated web of encrypted chats, street alerts and tracking of ICE "Abductors" in a sophisticated database reviewed by Fox News Digital shows that agitators were already mobilized at the scene where 37-year-old Alex Pretti was killed minutes before any shots were fired.

Tracking Past Eruptions In Yellowstone Is Harder Than You Think

Yellowstone is infamous, having made it onto the small and prestigious list of “supervolcanoes.” This means it is one of just a handful of volcanoes that have produced an eruption of magnitude 8 at least once in their lifetimes. To make the cut, the eruption must result in the deposit of over 240 cubic miles (1,000 cubic kilometers) of volcanic material.
But while geologists can say at least three extremely large eruptions have occurred over the last 2.1 million years, the full number of eruptions is a much harder figure to calculate. As scientists at Yellowstone Volcano Observatory explain in Yellowstone Caldera Chronicles, some past eruptions could be camouflaged, having been partially (and sometimes completely) hidden by eruptions that have occurred more recently.
This may be frustrating from an intellectual standpoint, but it has practical implications too. Knowing when, where, and how past eruptions occurred helps geologists predict the likelihood of a future eruption.
What Do Geologists Know About Yellowstone Eruptions?
The geological record shows there have been at least three eruptions explosive enough to produce a large volcanic crater (or caldera) — one 2.1 million years ago, one 1.3 million years ago, and another 631,000 years ago. Together, these volcanic cycles created the Yellowstone Plateau volcanic field that we see today.
