World Cup Glory Is Fleeting
Eternal Significance Is Found in Christ

As a competitor, you know what it feels like to hear, "Well done; that was fun to watch!" There's deep satisfaction that comes from achieving something great and being recognized for it, an exhilaration that strikes at the heart. It feels like something deep within is being acknowledged. This longing for recognition runs through the very fabric of our being because God created us in His image. It's a desire to be significant, to matter and when we achieve something remarkable, the recognition is invigorating. But here's the reality: no matter how high you rise in your sport or how many accolades you collect, there's often a nagging feeling that something's still missing. So, why do we still wake up some days feeling unfulfilled, even after a career-defining moment?
The answer lies in our brokenness. Romans 3:23 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." This brokenness, this flaw in our humanity, is why we can never truly feel satisfied with mere achievements. Like scoring the game-winning goal, a game-sealing interception, the thrill of a win or the praise of others fades fast. The hole in our soul created by sin cannot be filled by accomplishments, no matter how grand. No matter how many medals you hang up or how many records you break, the satisfaction is temporary. It's like chasing something you can never quite catch — always yearning for more.
The truth is, this deep longing we feel — this need for significance and fulfillment — can only truly be satisfied in Jesus Christ. In Him, we find our true identity and purpose. Jesus is the cornerstone. He is the one who fills the void in our hearts, the one for whom we were created. As Acts 17:28 says, "In Him we live and move and have our being." (CBN) Read More Here |

Mullin Announces Major Steps for Election Security Following China Revelations
|
|
In just four states, 250,000 noncitizens are registered to vote, Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said Friday as he announced new measures to bolster election security.
The four states—California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada—did not cooperate with the Trump administration in its review of voter information, but the Department of Homeland Security obtained the information from publicly available data, Mullin said.
He also called on states to crosscheck voter data with the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, a database from the DHS that verifies citizenship.
The secretary said that in 23 states that have cooperated with the agency’s SAVE program, which helps determine voter eligibility, data show another 23,000 noncitizens and 400,000 dead people are registered to vote.
He said that states will need to work with DHS on ensuring voter eligibility if they wish to receive federal election grants.
“We are going to make our security enhancements mandatory, meaning that if these states want a grant, and they want to be reimbursed to run federal elections, they’re going to have to implement security measures,” Mullin said. (Daily Signal) Read more |

FDA says Taco Bell to stop using lettuce supplier linked to multistate parasite outbreak
|
|
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Thursday that Taco Bell will stop using lettuce from a supplier linked to a multistate cyclosporiasis outbreak, as federal health officials investigate more than 1,600 illnesses across five states.
The announcement came after Taco Bell said earlier Thursday that it had voluntarily removed potentially affected lettuce from a supplier in select states where cases have been linked to the outbreak.
"Based on ongoing conversations with public health officials, and out of an abundance of caution, Taco Bell has taken immediate action to voluntarily remove potentially impacted lettuce from a supplier in select states," Taco Bell Corp. said in a statement provided to FOX Business.
"The affected ingredient from our supplier is being indefinitely removed from our supply chain nationwide and will be replaced within 24 hours in select states," the statement continued. (Fox News) Read more |

Beijing Seethes at Trump’s Election Document Dump: ‘Stop Vilifying China’

The Chinese Foreign Ministry effusively condemned President Donald Trump on Friday, demanding during its daily briefing that the American government “stop vilifying China” after the president published declassified intelligence documents on Thursday night indicating that Beijing was attempting to alter the results of American elections.
In a nationally televised address on Thursday, President Trump announced that the White House would publish a trove of intelligence documents about the integrity of American elections, many of them referring to threats from the Communist Party of China. Some of the documents published feature intelligence officials stating they had reason to believe that the Chinese government was attempting, prior to the 2020 presidential election, to “leverage all domestic and foreign elements that were opposed to the U.S. president” to ensure his loss in that election or resignation prior to that.
The documents, now available on the White House website, also addressed the suspected acquisition by the Chinese communist regime of extensive files of voter intelligence, potentially affecting as many as 220 million Americans. The documents did not include any proof that the Chinese government actively swayed the results of the 2020 election or any other election in the United States, but rather identified vulnerabilities in America’s election system that could be exploited by nefarious foreign actors.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry rejected the entirety of the president’s speech and the contents of the documents as “false” on Friday.
“This is a false allegation and serious smear that has long been proved to be unfounded. China adheres to non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian told reporters during his briefing. “We never interfere in U.S. elections and have zero interest in that.” (Breitbart) Read more |

Lord, this vehement, negative reaction by China may signal that they actually did interfere in our elections. We ask that You prevent them from interference in American politics. The President also alleged that some journalists were paid by China to write negative articles about him. We pray that You will help the President as the legacy media joins China in hating on him. Lord God of Justice, this situation places our leadership in serious danger. We place our trust in You for his protection and our national security.

JD Vance alleges 'discreet, well-funded campaign' seeks to derail Iran deal, influence US policy
|
|
U.S. Vice President JD Vance accused members of the Israeli government and what he described as a “well-funded” Israeli influence campaign of attempting to undermine U.S. negotiations with Iran and targeting him personally over his role in the talks.
During a 3-hour interview on “The Joe Rogan Experience," Vance said he has seen a “very discreet, extremely well-funded campaign to try to derail the negotiation and try to derail the deal.”
Vance said he had been attacked for pursuing the negotiating objectives set by U.S. President Donald Trump. “Those people are attacking me viciously for quite literally trying to accomplish the negotiation objective that the president set for the country.”
Vance cited a report in TIME magazine that alleged that former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale was involved in an Israeli-funded influence effort aimed at shaping public opinion around the negotiations and a potential ceasefire. Vance also implied that this campaign had targeted him personally.
When asked by Rogan how the influence campaign was being conducted, Vance responded, “Oh, it's social media posts. It's, you know, they're leaking to reporters. They are attacking, obsessively saying that we should not be negotiating with Iran, that we should just keep the military campaign going indefinitely.”
He said the social media influencers are accusing him of being influenced by a foreign agent.
“People have come after me and said that I'm influenced by Qatar, that I am influenced by foreign governments, that I take my marching orders from Tucker Carlson, there's just so much nonsense out there,” the vice president stated.

Holy God, we pray for truth to be revealed for the real issue behind this situation. These attacks on JD Vance may have nothing whatever to do with any Israeli influence, but the statement may cause serious problems with Evangelicals. Israeli PM Netanyahu has canceled his scheduled trip to meet with President Trump, and we do not know exactly why. Please sort this out, Heavenly Father, so that America stands with You regarding Your people.

1. Israel prepares for possible escalation with Iran in coming days - Israel Hayom
Tensions between Iran and the US are rising rapidly, and Israel's political and military leadership is preparing for a possible escalation that could draw the country into the confrontation as early as this week.
Against the backdrop of the growing tensions, dozens of US military refueling aircraft have landed in Israel in recent days and deployed to Israeli Air Force bases in the country's south.
Israeli officials are holding daily security assessments. In recent days, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was at peak readiness to resume its war against Iran should that become necessary. "We have broken through the barrier of fear. I cannot say what will happen in Iran right now. Many things could happen. We are prepared for every scenario," Netanyahu said. (Read more)

2. IDF fires interceptors over Eilat as Iranian missiles target nearby Aqaba in Jordan - Times of Israel
Israel launched interceptors on Sunday after fragments from Iranian missiles fired at Jordan’s southern city of Aqaba potentially threatened the nearby city of Eilat, as the escalation in US-Iran fighting showed no signs of abating.
The missiles were intercepted by American air defense systems, according to initial Israel Defense Forces assessments, while the military said it also launched Iron Dome interceptors amid the missile attack to shoot down fragments.
No sirens sounded in Eilat, as the fragments were shot down. Interceptor fragments fell in an open area near the city, without causing any damage or injuries, the IDF said. (Read more)

3. IDF declares Gaza border a closed military zone ahead of planned march

The IDF declared much of the Gaza border region a closed military zone Sunday as thousands of Israelis prepared to march from Yad Mordechai toward the enclave in support of reestablishing Jewish communities evacuated in 2005.
The demonstration, organized by the Nahala settlement movement, was scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Yad Mordechai Junction, north of Gaza. Organizers promoted the event as the “March of Thousands” and said its purpose was to press the government to begin renewing Israeli settlement in the Strip before this year’s election.
Organizers said the march would be attended by bereaved families, wounded veterans, Gaza border residents and groups that have organized prospective communities intended for the territory. (Read more)

Israel's High Court of Justice on Sunday issued a temporary injunction delaying the implementation of key provisions of a controversial communications law approved by the Knesset last week.
The legislation, championed by Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, would expand the government's authority over aspects of Israel's communications sector, including changes to regulatory oversight and the appointment of senior officials.

5. Massive blaze destroys homes, businesses in Samaria’s Havat Gilad - JNS
A massive blaze swept through the Samaria community of Havat Gilad (Gilad Farm) near Shechem (Nablus) over Shabbat, destroying 15 homes, 10 businesses and more than 30 structures, damaging infrastructure and forcing the evacuation of approximately 100 families.
A total of 41 firefighting and rescue teams, supported by additional forces, operated at the scene in an effort to extinguish the blaze, prevent it from reigniting and bring the incident under full control.
Following hours of firefighting efforts, Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan issued a statement from Havat Gilad on Saturday night, saying there was a “very strong suspicion” the blaze was the result of arson. He said the fire began after a burning object was thrown from a moving vehicle into a nearby field of dry brush. (Read more)

1. Texas Flooding Map: Flash Flood Warnings and Affected Areas Today - IBT
Catastrophic flash flooding across the Texas Hill Country has left at least two people dead and prompted more than 230 water rescues since the emergency began, Gov. Greg Abbott said in a Thursday briefing. A man died near Comfort after being swept away in an RV, and a woman was killed when her car was swept away near Uvalde, Abbott said. Rain continued falling into early Friday morning, keeping multiple counties under flash flood warnings as creeks and rivers kept rising rapidly.
The scale of the rainfall has been extreme even by Hill Country standards. Parts of the region received close to a year's worth of rain in just three days, with federal forecasters estimating 6 to 16 inches fell over a single 24-hour period in Uvalde County alone, at rates of 2 to 4 inches an hour. A National Weather Service gauge on the Guadalupe River rose 32 feet in four hours and was expected to approach a crest similar to the catastrophic flooding the same river saw on July 4, 2025, a flood that killed more than 130 people in the region. Abbott said the Nueces River near Uvalde set a new record, at one point releasing water at roughly twice the rate of Niagara Falls.
The National Weather Service's Weather Prediction Center issued a Level 4 flash flood risk, its highest category, for the affected area,the first time that designation had been used since April 2025, underscoring how unusual and dangerous forecasters considered the setup. (Read more)

2. Democrat scrambles to meet Angel Mom after she blasts lawmakers to their faces for ignoring families’ pleas- Fox
Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., offered to promptly meet with an Angel Mom after she said during the second day of Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's confirmation hearing that she and other Angel Parents have been "completely ignored" in their push for immigration reform.
"Miss Bos, anxious to meet with you," Durbin said. "I hope we can do it soon, maybe right after this."
Jennifer Bos, whose daughter’s body was found in a bleach-filled container in a case in which an illegal immigrant was charged with concealing her death, appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of Blanche’s nomination, underscoring the Trump administration’s focus on violent crime and immigration enforcement.
Bos is among the Angel Families — relatives of people killed or harmed in crimes involving illegal immigrants — who have pushed lawmakers for stricter immigration enforcement.

3. Republican Congressional Candidate Arrested After ‘Kill Trump’ Video- Breitbart
A former Marine now running for Congress as a Republican in Florida was arrested this week and charged with threatening the president, days after he stood in uniform and said that President Donald Trump is the “Antichrist” who “must be killed.”
Federal authorities arrested Jacksonville resident William L. Upham, 35, and charged him with threatening the President of the United States, U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced. If convicted, Upham faces up to five years in federal prison. A federal judge ordered him detained after his initial court appearance in Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday.
Upham is a qualified write-in candidate challenging Republican Rep. John Rutherford in Florida’s 5th Congressional District. Florida’s Republican primary is scheduled for Aug. 18, followed by the general election on Nov. 3.
The charge stems from a video Upham posted to his own campaign account on X. It runs nearly seven minutes. It starts almost like a stump speech: God and country, fixing a broken system, giving power back to working people. Upham then said the country was in a spiritual war and that Trump was on the wrong side of it.
“There is no doubt in my mind that the president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, is the Antichrist,” he said. “He is a false messiah, and he is your enemy, and he must be killed.” He closed by saying Trump “will be killed and sent to hell.” (Read more)

We pray for Your Holy Spirit to surround President Trump with Your Power, to keep him, all his family and cabinet safe from harm.

4. Mark Carney Deflects Blame on Canada Wildfire Failures: ‘Climate Change Is Everyone’s Responsibility’- Breitbart
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney dismissed the possibility that his government could be doing more to contain the out-of-control wildfires ravaging Ontario this week and sending toxic smoke down to flood much of the American Midwest and Northeast, demanding the United States do more to fight alleged “climate change.”
The comments, made during a press conference in Ontario, are Carney’s first in the aftermath of a torrent of outrage in the United States as millions of people were told not to leave their homes on Thursday to avoid becoming sick from inhaling Canadian fire smoke. Disillusion at the inaction by the Canadian government is also reportedly growing among the First Nations communities most directly affected by the fires, including some that have burned to the ground entirely and found little to no support from Ottawa.
Canada’s extensive forests have traditionally experienced regular summer fire seasons, controlled through indigenous methods such as controlled burns and the removal of dry, dead tree branches and other material that serves as kindling for large fires. In the past decade, as the Canadian government has largely abandoned forest management as a national policy, these fires have grown larger, more dangerous, and more polluting. The Canadian government has no federal emergency response agency and no national fire authority, leaving the country’s provinces on their own to respond to the fires.
The Canadian government under the far-left Liberal Party has repeatedly responded to demands to proactively manage its forests and aid both indigenous communities and provincial governments by blaming the fires on “climate change” and rejecting claims that it could be doing more. Carney continued the trend in his response to questions about the fires on Thursday, specifically addressing outrage in the United States about the smoke pollution. “Now we’re focusing on investing in clean energy,” Carney said in French, “in the United States there’s prohibitions now against clean energy — for example, wind energy is one example.” (Read more)

Father, the Canadian wildfires are ravaging the forests, and pushing dangerous smoke into the United States. As one meteorologist stated, “climate change” doesn’t start wildfires, because there must be an “ignition source” – lightning strike, downed power line, spark from a chainsaw, etc. Blaming everything on the generic climate change is foolish. We pray that common sense will come to Canada. We also ask that You will mitigate the smoke that is causing problems for many.

5. Squad Dem in the hot seat after spending spree at luxury hotels: 'Champagne socialist' - Fox
A far-left "Squad" Democrat is facing scrutiny after spending thousands of dollars in donor cash at lavish hotels nearly 2,000 miles away from her home district, a Fox News Digital review of FEC records found.
"Squad" Rep. Ilhan Omar’s, D-Minn., campaign dropped over $6K on high-end hotels and private transportation between April and June, including payments to a Ritz-Carlton resort in Palm Springs, a hotel with sweeping views from the Hollywood Sign to downtown Los Angeles, and a luxury stay in the heart of Times Square, the congresswoman's latest financial filings show.
The payments, covering April 1 through June 30, included $2,131.90 to W New York in Times Square, $1,613.23 to The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood, $1,143 to Blacklane Transportation, $926.80 to Ace Hotel & Swim Club Palm Springs and $682.41 to the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings.
Overall, the campaign reported more than $28,000 in travel expenses and more than $23,000 in food, beverage and catering expenses during the three-month filing period. (Read more)

6. Transgender Maine Senate candidate sparks online frenzy over response to debate question: 'Can't be serious'- Fox
Social media erupted on Thursday night during a Maine Senate debate to determine who will replace former Democratic nominee Graham Platner after one of the candidates highlighted being a songwriter as a qualification for Senate.
"I ran for office several times, didn't win, but I did run and then, I'm a songwriter and then I write my own books," Senate candidate Ashley Webb said on the debate stage when asked, "What qualifications do you have to serve in the U.S. Senate?"
Webb, who is transgender, continued, "I suppose my transparency, I wouldn't lie to people and I wouldn't deceive the people, like, we're being deceived right now, like we get lied to, smoke and mirrors, like what's going on with ICE."
The moment went viral on social media, with many conservatives mocking Webb’s list of qualifications. (Read more)

U.S. Pounds Bridges And Roads To Cut Off Iran’s Strategic Port City- Daily Wire

The U.S. military appears to be tightening the noose around Bandar Abbas, Iran’s most strategic port city, after striking multiple bridges, railways, and military infrastructure during its sixth consecutive night of attacks.
The city of more than half a million people sits on the Strait of Hormuz, hosts the headquarters of Iran’s navy, and serves as a critical hub for the regime’s commercial operations.
The latest strikes appeared aimed at isolating Bandar Abbas from the rest of Iran by targeting key transportation links connecting the port city to the country’s interior, including routes leading toward Tehran.

Can a mentalist trick Trump? Oz Pearlman will try in a room full of journalists
|

The White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, a century-old night of mingling for politicians and political journalists, won't feature a roast by a comedian this year.
Instead, bucking decades of tradition, Saturday's headliner is a mentalist: Oz Pearlman, whose mind-reading, PIN-guessing tricks have made him a favorite of social media, late-night shows, professional sports teams and corporate clientele.
"As the world's most celebrated mentalist, Oz Pearlman will offer a fascinating glimpse into what's truly on the minds of Washington's newsmakers," association president Weijia Jiang, of CBS News, said in a February announcement teasing an "exciting, fresh, and interactive evening."
Pearlman, 43, has been a full-time entertainer for over two decades, but he's been doing magic for much longer. He started doing card, rope and coin tricks as a teenager, which helped him pay for college, and kept the side gig going even as he began working on Wall Street. His career got a major boost from his third-place finish on America's Got Talent in 2015.
But he says he could have never imagined turning mentalism — a relatively niche genre of magic — into a full-time job, let alone booking the correspondents' dinner. In doing so, he follows in the footsteps of big-name entertainers like George Carlin, Chevy Chase, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and Stephen Colbert.
In fact, Pearlman told NPR over Zoom that when he first got the call, he thought it was a prank or a mistake. But he soon came to understand the intent behind the invite.
"My hope for the White House Correspondents' Dinner, and why they brought me there instead of a comedian to roast people, is that my job is to bring us together," he said. "[People in the room] don't necessarily agree on how the country is being governed or the war or economy or a million different things … I think that for 25 minutes they're going to laugh, they're going to applaud, they're going to have their jaws drop."
Pearlman hopes people will leave the room (at the Washington Hilton) in a better mood than when they arrived, adding, "I think as a country, we need that at times." (NPR)

A new Gallup poll released this week confirms what many of us have felt in our bones for years: Americans no longer trust the institutions that once held our society together. And as a Christian who believes truth matters more than comfortable illusions, I don't think this collapse happened by chance. I believe we are watching the fruit of a deliberate strategy — one that a Soviet defector warned us about decades ago.

Four stages to a nation's collapse — from the inside
1. Demoralization (15–20 years). Through education, media, and culture, a population is taught to doubt its own history, its moral foundations, its God, and its national identity. Bezmenov was blunt about how this stage ends: a demoralized person becomes unable to process the truth even when it's placed directly in front of them. Facts stop mattering. That should sound familiar to anyone who has tried to have a reasoned conversation across the political aisle in the last several years.
2. Destabilization (2–5 years). Once the moral and spiritual foundation is eroded, the next phase targets the pillars that hold a functioning society together — the economy, law enforcement, national defense, and foreign relations. The goal is dysfunction: institutions that can no longer be relied upon to do their basic jobs.
3. Crisis (weeks to months). A rapid-onset shock — political, social, or economic — that the population, already demoralized and destabilized, is unprepared to weather. Crisis creates fear, and fear creates an opening.
4. Normalization. A “new normal” is introduced in the aftermath of a crisis, one that looks like stability on the surface but that has permanently reshaped what the population accepts, tolerates, and no longer questions. The subversion becomes the new baseline, and most people never realize how far the ground has shifted beneath them.

Marxism, at its root, is a materialist worldview. It denies that there is a God who defines right and wrong, and it insists that all human institutions — family, church, private property, law — are just tools of “oppression” that must be dismantled before a “just” society can be built. That means Marxism cannot simply out-argue Christianity or out-vote it. It must first convince a population that the foundations of our nation that they've trusted — their faith, their family structure, their schools, their justice system, their national story — are themselves corrupt, oppressive, and unworthy of loyalty. Only after people stop trusting those foundations will they be willing to let them be replaced. In fact, just this week, Democratic Socialists who are gaining a foothold in the Democrat party announced that they seek to disintegrate the U.S. Senate — one of our founding institutions of government. A biblical lens on what’s happening
None of this is actually new, even if the tools — mass media, universities, entertainment, now social media — have modernized. Scripture warns us plainly that this kind of spiritual and societal erosion is a pattern as old as the Garden itself: a lie whispered patiently, question by question, until people no longer trust what God has already told them is good. “The wisdom of this world is folly with God” (1 Corinthians 3:19), and Scripture tells us to test everything and hold fast to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21) rather than being carried about by every wind of doctrine (Ephesians 4:14). A demoralized, subverted mind is exactly the target Paul describes when he warns of people who are “always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7).

Lord, thank You for alerting us to these alarming indicators in the United States. We pray that You would rebuke the demons and territorial spirits coming against our country and trying to subvert it from within. We pray that You would bring wisdom to our leaders and make them aware of these dangers so that they will fight back. Let millions of Americans be exposed to these truths, and let us as a nation resist these subversions. Let truth overcome the lies and darkness in the United States. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

Mystery deepens after 2,700-year-old bronze sword emerges standing upright

A metal detectorist recently spotted a 2,700-year-old bronze sword in an unusual position — standing upright in the ground.
The discovery was announced by the Pomeranian Provincial Heritage Conservator on Facebook earlier in June.
The weapon was found by hobbyist Marcin Wiśniewski in the Gdańsk Forest District in northern Poland, near the Baltic coast. It dates to the Late Bronze Age, between 900 and 700 B.C.
Pictures released by officials show the remarkably preserved bronze weapon sticking up from sandy soil during the excavation.
Wiśniewski — who previously found a Bronze Age hoard in a forested area outside of Gdańsk — alerted heritage officials to the discovery.
"After the discovery was reported, staff from our Department of Archaeological Monuments recovered the artifact using proper archaeological methods, working together with the finder," the Pomeranian Provincial Heritage Conservator's translated post added. (Fox News) Read more
