Number missing in Texas floods drops
from 97 to 3, officials say
|
|
The number of people thought to be missing in the devastating floods in Kerr County, Texas, over the Fourth of July holiday weekend has been revised down from at least 97 to three, officials announced July 19.
The city of Kerrville, Texas, said the Kerr County Flood Disaster Joint Information Center confirmed that "through extensive follow-up work among state and local agencies, many individuals who were initially reported as missing have been verified as safe and removed from the list."
“We are profoundly grateful to the more than 1,000 local, state, and federal authorities who have worked tirelessly in the wake of the devastating flood that struck our community,” Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice said.
On July 15, Gov. Greg Abbott said 97 people were still listed as missing in the greater Kerrville area, down from 160-plus about a week ago.
“This remarkable progress reflects countless hours of coordinated search and rescue operations, careful investigative work, and an unwavering commitment to bringing clarity and hope to families during an unimaginably difficult time,” Rice said.
Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly thanked law enforcement and others who helped verify the number missing. “Your dedication, professionalism, and compassion have brought comfort and answers to so many."
Kelly had said earlier that a large percentage of those unaccounted for were probably visiting the area. He said many tourists had come for the Independence Day weekend fireworks and concert. Historic flooding overwhelmed the banks of the Guadalupe River in the predawn hours of July 4.
Recovery operations are continuing to search for those still missing. As of July 17, Abbott said, the death toll stood at 135 statewide, with 116 from Kerr County perishing in the floods. (USA Today) Read more here.

- Abba Father, we CELEBRATE answered prayer for missing individuals found alive and rescued from harm after the devastating flood in Texas! We praise You for the list of the missing being downgraded to three people and pray You would shine a light on their specific location. We grieve alongside every family who lost a loved one. Bring Your restoration in the midst of their tragic loss and reveal Your healing upon the hearts and minds of the community as they rebuild together. Protect the rescue workers as they process all they've experienced and show Your GLORY once again! By the Blood and mighty Name of Jesus, we pray- Amen.

What’s included in $9B rescissions bill approved by House?
|
|
For the first time in decades, Congress has approved a presidential request to rescind previously authorized funding in a win for President Donald Trump.
In a late-night vote Thursday, House Republicans passed a $9 billion rescission bill targeting foreign aid programs and public broadcasting, long-standing GOP priorities for spending cuts.
Trump is expected to sign the bill soon, though the White House hasn’t issued formal guidance. The approval comes just ahead of the deadline to enact the cuts or release the funds.
Celebrating the victory on social media, Trump wrote: “House approves nine billion dollar cuts package, including atrocious NPR and public broadcasting, where billions of dollars a year were wasted. Republicans have tried doing this for 40 years, and failed … but no more. This is big!” (Fox News) Read more here.

Trump vows to make US ‘crypto capital of the planet,' signs GENIUS Act into law
|
|
President Donald Trump signed into law the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act Friday — a landmark piece of legislation that establishes federal regulations surrounding digital currency.
Ahead of signing the bill, Trump recalled how he previously vowed to make the U.S. the "crypto capital of the planet" during a keynote address during a bitcoin conference in Nashville, Tennessee, in July 2024, where he said that regulations his administration would implement would be "written by people who love your industry, not hate your industry."
"I pledged that we would bring back American liberty and leadership and make the United States the crypto capital of the world," Trump said Friday. "And that's what we've done. And under the Trump administration, this is only going further." (Fox News) Read more.

|
- Holy Lord, most of us do not have cryptocurrency and some do not even understand how it works. We pray that this new act will be of benefit to Americans rather than a problem we cannot see. We thank You for President Trump’s hopeful vision for America, and ask that You guide him in truth and wisdom.
- “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5: 15-17)

10 Americans freed in prisoner swap between U.S., El Salvador, Venezuela
|
|
Ten Americans are en route to the U.S. after a prisoner swap involving the U.S., El Salvador and Venezuela, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday.
"Thanks to @POTUS's leadership, ten Americans who were detained in Venezuela are on their way to freedom," Rubio wrote on X.
The Americans were freed from Venezuela in exchange for El Salvador returning 252 Venezuelans who were deported from the U.S. to a notorious prison in El Salvador earlier this year, senior administration officials said, claiming the released Venezuelans were members of the gang Tren de Aragua.
A former Navy SEAL, Wilbert Joseph Castaneda, is among the Americans released, three sources told CBS News. Castaneda was detained in Venezuela last year while on personal travel.
"As of right now, there are no more Americans who remain wrongfully detained in Venezuela," a senior administration official told reporters Friday. (MSN.COM) Read more.

- Thank You, Lord, for bringing these 10 Americans home. We pray for their healing and their hearts to be restored.

Obama admin 'manufactured' intelligence to create 2016 Russian election interference narrative, documents show
|
|
Gabbard: Obama Officials Drove Russia Probe
|
|
Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard declassified documents on Friday she says show “overwhelming evidence” that then-President Obama and his security team manufactured the Trump–Russia collusion narrative.
Gabbard said records show the Obama administration and then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper knew there was no evidence Russia manipulated the 2016 election outcome through cyberattacks. Documents also indicate that then-FBI Director James Comey pushed back on early assessments and contributed to delays in publication.
Among other allegations is a Dec. 9, 2016, meeting between Obama and national security officials that ended with Clapper directing multiple agencies to create a new assessment detailing how Moscow influenced the election “per the president’s request.”
Gabbard concluded that after months of investigation, those involved knew the intelligence used against President Trump was fabricated. (Fox News) Read more here.

- Lord, this terrible situation that stemmed entirely from hate must never be allowed to occur again. We are supposed to be a nation of laws, not evil plans.
Holy Lord, Father of Justice, we pray on our knees for repentance across our government over this egregious scandal. You alone know the hearts of all who participated in this sick plan to keep power and destroy a President duly elected by the American people. We all knew that the Democrats' actions were a farce from the beginning, but the release of these documents has shown a far-reaching depth of evil that must be eliminated. We pray for accountability. We pray for justice, and that You will assist Your people in correcting these actions.

2. US: Jerusalem, Damascus agree to truce amid massacres of Druze in Syria
- Jerusalem Post
Israel and Syria have agreed to a ceasefire following several days of massacres carried out by Sunni jihadists loyal to Damascus against the Druze minority in Sweida Province, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack announced on Friday night.
“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa supported by the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio have agreed to a ceasefire embraced by Türkiye, Jordan and its neighbors,” tweeted Barrack, who also serves as U.S. special envoy for Syria.
“We call upon Druze, Bedouin and Sunnis to put down their weapons and together with other minorities build a new and united Syrian identity in peace and prosperity with its neighbors,” he added.
Soon thereafter, al-Sharaa’s office announced an “immediate ceasefire” and urged “all parties to fully respect” the deal. (Read more)

3. Despite ceasefire, Syria fighting continues as Bedouin tribes converge on Druze stronghold - All Israel News
The fighting in the Druze town of Suwayda (Suweida) in southern Syria continued on Saturday, as Bedouin tribes continued attacking the town despite a ceasefire that was agreed upon by the government of President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
According to reports and the authorities, the government’s security forces did not join in the renewed fighting on Saturday, but deployed to the outskirts of the Druze stronghold.
After the Israeli Air Force carried out over 160 airstrikes against government troops over the past week in support of the Druze, an Israeli official told media outlets that “Israel has agreed to allow limited entry of the (Syrian) internal security forces into Suwayda district for the next 48 hours.”
According to the French AFP news agency, Bedouin and tribal fighters, many of whom joined the fighting from other parts of the country, pushed into Suwayda from the west on Saturday as reports of burning houses and new atrocities circulated on social media, where they are hard to verify. 4. Calm Reported in Syria’s Sweida, Damascus Says Truce Holding - Algemeiner
Residents reported calm in Syria’s Sweida on Sunday after the Islamist-led government announced that Bedouin fighters had withdrawn from the predominantly Druze city and a US envoy signaled that a deal to end days of fighting was being implemented.
With hundreds reported killed, the Sweida bloodshed is a major test for interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, prompting Israel to launch airstrikes against government forces last week as it declared support for the Druze. Fighting continued on Saturday despite a ceasefire call.
Interior Minister Anas Khattab said on Sunday that internal security forces had managed to calm the situation and enforce the ceasefire, “paving the way for a prisoner exchange and the gradual return of stability throughout the governorate.”
Reuters images showed interior ministry forces near the city, blocking the road in front of members of tribes congregated there. The Interior Ministry said late on Saturday that Bedouin fighters had left the city. (Read more)

5. Hezbollah's secretary-general says group 'will not surrender weapons to Israel' - report - Jerusalem Post
Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem rejected the idea that his terror organization will disarm following mounting pressure, claiming that the US seeks to impose a new deal that includes disarmament, Hezbollah-affiliated network Al-Mayadeen reported.
He said that the US "wants to impose a new agreement that absolves Israel of its violations over the past eight months, the first step of which would be disarmament."
Qassem added that the "US administration is coordinating the war with Israel and working to expand its influence in the region."
He claimed that Hezbollah adhered to the ceasefire by "implement[ing] everything we were required to do under the agreement, and Israel did none of that." (Read more)

The Small Business Administration (SBA) and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced Wednesday they are joining forces in an effort to help bolster U.S. manufacturing.
SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler and Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer announced the move during an event at the DOL on Wednesday morning. Chavez-DeRemer and Loeffler also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aiming to revitalize American manufacturing.
“The president is reviving our manufacturing industry that was neglected for so long,” Chavez-DeRemer said at the event.Read

2. Government Data Shows Federal Agencies Take Years to Respond to ‘Simple’ Information Requests- The Washington Stand
Citizens filing simple information requests to a key Department of Commerce office must wait on average 836 days — more than two years — before getting responses, and there is no guarantee that what is provided by the government’s reply will be complete or credible, according to a new report based on federal data.
The report is being published July 17 by Open the Books (OTB), the Illinois-based non-profit government transparency watchdog, using data compiled by foia.gov. An advance copy of the report was obtained by The Washington Stand.
The average response time for simple requests of 836 days was compiled by the Commerce Department’s Office of the Undersecretary for Economic Affairs. The second-longest wait time among federal departments and agencies was 811 by the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Office of Enterprise Integration.
Third among the longest wait times was the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA) at 367 days. The fourth longest average wait was registered by the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board at 360 days, followed in fifth by the Executive Office of the President in the White House at 350 days. 3. GOP Moves to Strip Federal Charter from ‘Insane’ Leftist National Education Association - The Washington Stand
While much of the nation’s attention over the past few months has centered on mass deportations, conflict in the Middle East, and the controversial “Epstein files,” a pair of Republicans is continuing to focus on American children in American classrooms. Rep. Mark Harris (R-N.C.) and Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) announced new legislation on Wednesday aimed at stripping the National Education Association (NEA), a progressive teachers’ union, of its federal charter. The text of the bill states simply, “Chapter 1511 of title 36, United States Code (which granted a Federal charter to the National Education Association), is repealed.”
Appearing on Wednesday night’s episode of “Washington Watch,” Harris explained that the NEA’s federal charter is “a stamp of approval from the United States Congress.” He continued, “But I think everyone would recognize that the NEA has just gone off the rails, and they have certainly not lived up to what that charter was meant to be.” He added, “I think that the 119th Congress looks at this, and we have an opportunity to strip them of this charter and basically remove Congress’s seal of approval and hold them accountable for the actions that they’ve done.”
Harris said that the NEA “is a leftist, activist political action crowd that is simply funding the left-wing woke agenda, and it’s time for them to be called out.” He continued, “What do we see today? They vote to label President Trump’s policies as fascism. They’ve argued against taking pornographic LGBT books out of their school libraries. Every leftist agenda item you could think of, they have adopted, and that’s what they do.” (Read more)

- Lord, we shout “Hallelujah” to this report! This teacher’s union has done horrific things to our children and deserves to be stripped of its charter. We ask that this bill be passed to protect the children from this kind of influence.

4. Republican Attorney General Calls For End To Federal DEI Program That ‘Wastes Money On Purpose’- Daily Wire
Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador called for an end to a “discriminatory” federal program that costs states millions of dollars by pushing them to go with more expensive “diverse” contractors.
In a Wednesday court filing joined by 20 states, Labrador urged a federal judge to accept a proposal from the Trump administration to end an affirmative action program that favors minority- and women-owned businesses for state infrastructure projects. The initiative, known as the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, set aside $37 billion under the Biden administration for “disadvantaged” groups.
The program, which has been in effect since 1983, was originally challenged in September 2023 by the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty on behalf of two Indiana-based companies that claim they lost business opportunities based on the policy. The Biden administration fought back against the challenge, but the Trump administration has asked a judge to side with the complaint and disband the program.
In an amicus brief, Labrador and the other plaintiffs urged Federal Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove, a George W. Bush nominee, to accept a consent decree proposed by the Trump administration that would end race and sex as components to qualify as a “disadvantaged business.”
“This discrimination is expensive. It routinely requires States to reject the lowest bid on a project in favor of a less-efficient DBE-compliant bidder, and even when States can choose the lowest bid, the price is usually inflated because contractors have to use DBE-compliant subcontractors,” the filing says. “The DBE program wastes money on purpose. When supposedly disadvantaged entities are the lowest bidders, the program has no effect-its whole point is to force States to hire disadvantaged entities when they are not the lowest bidders.” (Read more)

|
- Lord, we pray that this case will find favor in Your eyes. We pray for You to undo the damage that these programs have caused in our country- from dividing the people to costing $Billions in unnecessary spending by the states.

5. House committee alleges Biden admin used funds to back anti-government protests in Israel - Fox News
The Biden-Harris administration is accused of misusing taxpayer dollars to fund protests in Israel against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prior to Oct. 7.
The House Judiciary Committee recently released a memo outlining the allegations and showing a possible money trail.
"The Committee’s oversight has revealed that the Biden-Harris Administration provided grant funds to groups that contributed directly and indirectly to the judicial reform protests that sought to undermine the Israeli government," the committee wrote in the memo.
Netanyahu shared one of the charts from the memo on his X account and decried the "massive foreign intervention in an attempt to replace the right-wing government in Israel."
"An official document published by the U.S. Congress reveals astonishing information that confirms what many have long suspected: the previous U.S. administration transferred nearly a billion dollars to left-wing NGOs in Israel, with the aim of undermining the rule of the government," Netanyahu wrote in Hebrew. As more and more hidden things are revealed, we pray that You will intervene to fix everything that is used against Your people both here in the US and in Israel. We thank You for protection for Christians and Jews.

Study finds House reps don’t match ideology of those they represent
|
|
In an era of deep political polarization, a new study indicates that many members of Congress may be out of step not just with the opposition party, but with their own voters as well.
The study by the Institute for Legislative Analysis, a conservative group led by Republican Party activists Fred McGrath and Ryan McGowan, compares the ideological leanings of every sitting member of Congress with the partisan makeup of their districts, drawing on more than 100,000 votes cast in the last session and overlapping them with the Cook Political Report's Partisan Voter Index. The result is a striking picture of ideological misalignment across both parties, particularly among Republicans from deep-red states.
"It's shocking to see that some Republican lawmakers are more aligned with the Democratic Party than with their own constituents," said Fred McGrath, president of ILA and leader of this study.
More than two-thirds of lawmakers received a failing grade ("F") for ideological alignment with their districts. Republicans were most often penalized for voting less conservatively than their deep-red districts, while Democrats struggled to meet the progressive expectations of blue districts.
"This study shows the overwhelming majority of elected officials in both parties are out of alignment with the people they represent," said Ryan McGowan, CEO of the ILA. "Too many are either voting against the ideological tendencies of their constituents or failing to provide a clear alternative when representing swing districts." (WorldNetDaily) Read more here.

- Father God, we are startled by this report, but not totally surprised. It does seem that, no matter what the issue, members of Congress tend to vote their own way without listening to the voices of their constitiuents. But on the other hand, this report should serve to give all of us a wake-up call, that it falls upon our own shoulders to let our voices be heard in Congress.
We do thank You for the many ministries, especially those who lobby for pro-life issues and for matters concerning Israel, that do provide petitions on a regular basis, allowing each of us to sign those petitions and to take appropriate action to let our voices be heard. We repent for the times that we have not followed through. We thank You that, as we repent, You will forgive our sins and help us to steer a better course in the days to come. Amen and amen!
- “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool." (Isaiah 1:18)

Trump admin tackles urgent electrical grid crisis as AI set to double demand
|
|
|
Over the next two decades, global electricity demand is expected to double, growth we haven’t seen since post-World War II.
To meet historic projections, we need to generate abundant, reliable and affordable energy at a massive scale. But new generation won’t be enough. We must dramatically modernize the country’s electrical grid infrastructure, the invisible backbone of our entire energy system.
Transforming this aging infrastructure – which has been built up over a century – into a state-of-the art system is critical if the U.S. is to maintain its competitive lead on the global stage.
It is hard to overstate the urgency: America’s economy is only as strong as the grids that power it.
The Energy Department reinforced this view last week, saying in a report: "Electricity demand from AI-driven data centers and advanced manufacturing is rising at a record pace. The magnitude and speed of projected load growth cannot be met with existing approaches to load addition and grid management."
Energy Secretary Chris Wright added a more personal view to the issue, saying, "We produce energy for one reason, which is to better people's lives. So having a reliable grid that's as affordable as possible and that can grow so we can bring industry and more job opportunities to our states and communities is just critical."

- Lord, this is a critically important issue – our electrical grid is vulnerable to both hacking and simple old age problems. We pray Your wisdom will fill President Trump as he works to gather experts that will make the grid workable for all of America.

Huckabee’s threatening letter:
We will warn Christians to reconsider visits,
their goodwill is being ‘met with hostility’ by Israel
|
|
|
In the letter he sent this week to Interior Minister Moshe Arbel, US Ambassador Mike Huckabee lays out in detail new policies from the Visa Department toward Evangelical Christian organizations.
The letter, the existence of which emerged yesterday, has been obtained by The Times of Israel.
“As of the beginning of 2025, the Visa Department arbitrarily ceased honoring the recommendations of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and has initiated an independent investigation into each of the Evangelical organizations to ascertain whether or not they should be recognized as Religious Institutions and continue receiving visas,” writes Huckabee. (Times of Israel) Read more here.

- Lord God, because this news has been reported by the Times of Israel and broadcast by Bill Koenig, we do not doubt its verity. More importantly, this statement was made by Mike Huckabee, who is our Ambassador to Israel and a man who holds Israel in his heart. We bring this alarming matter before Your Throne of Grace.
We ask that those in authority at the Visa Department in the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Israel quickly reconsider their ruling and revise it accordingly. Abba Father God,we know that it is Your will that the United States and Israel be united, standing as allies in the Middle East. We cast down these words and we ask that You move upon the hearts of this staff to quickly revise their policy, extending visa privileges to American citizens. We ask this in Your mighty name, amen and amen!

A powerful series of earthquakes rattled Russia’s remote Kamchatka Peninsula on Sunday, setting off tsunami warnings and sparking widespread concern across the Pacific region.
Twin Quakes Rattle Kamchatka Within Minutes
The seismic activity began with a magnitude 6.6 earthquake, striking just off the Kamchatka coast at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). The tremor, initially reported as a 6.2, marked the start of an intense seismic sequence.
Shortly after, a second, more powerful quake hit the same region. Originally recorded at 6.7, the magnitude was later upgraded to 7.4 by both GFZ and the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
Epicenter Located Near Key Pacific City
The epicenter of the stronger quake was located about 144 kilometers east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a city home to around 180,000 residents. This quake struck at a depth of 20 kilometers, increasing its potential impact.
In the hours that followed, multiple aftershocks were recorded, including another strong tremor measuring 6.7 in magnitude, as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The series of jolts concentrated around 140 kilometers offshore, near the region’s Pacific edge. Read More
