Texas Board of Education approves required reading list with Bible passages for 5 million students
|
|
|
The Republican-controlled Texas State Board of Education approved a required reading list Friday that includes passages from the Bible, marking the latest effort by conservative officials to expand Christian teachings in public schools.
The Texas State Board of Education voted 9-5, with one abstention, to approve the required reading list for the state's more than 5 million public school students.
The required reading list includes works such as Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations" along with passages from the New Testament.
The decision came after intense debate between supporters and critics and has been closely watched by education observers, who say it appears to be the first statewide required reading list of its kind in the United States. (Fox News) Read More Here

US strikes Iran after Strait of Hormuz cargo ship attack as ceasefire tensions escalate

U.S. forces launched strikes against Iranian targets Friday after Tehran attacked a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. The retaliation comes as Washington, Tehran, Israel and Lebanon navigate a fragile ceasefire framework.

Vance warns Iran after US strikes: ‘Violence will be met with violence’
Vice President JD Vance warned Iran on Friday that further attacks would be met with force following U.S. strikes on Iranian targets along the Strait of Hormuz.
“Iran signed a ceasefire agreement. We have honored it,” Vance wrote on X while reposting a CENTCOM statement announcing the strikes.
“If they have disagreements about how the MOU is being applied, they can pick up the phone,” he added.
“But violence will be met with violence.” (Fox News) Read more here.

Trump seeks $672M to stop Iranian nukes as negotiators weigh fate of uranium stockpile
|
|
The Trump administration is seeking $672 million for the removal of Iranian nuclear materials, inspections and verification efforts, and other counterproliferation activities as part of its broader $80 billion supplemental funding request, Fox News Digital has learned.
The funding would support the removal and elimination of Iranian nuclear materials, including uranium hexafluoride (UF6), uranium in various forms and research reactor fuel, including highly enriched uranium, according to details shared by a White House official.
The request also would fund U.S. verification activities inside Iran, support inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, strengthen nuclear-smuggling detection efforts and expand Nuclear Emergency Support Team operations across the Middle East.

Father, the money required to accomplish this plan is high, and many on both sides of the aisle may not vote for it. We ask that Your Spirit move on Congress to accomplish Your perfect will in this matter, and prevent the terrorists from wreaking death and destruction with a nuclear weapon.

After testy exchange, Senate hands Trump win by rejecting bill to rein in his war on Iran
|
|
The Senate late Wednesday rejected a measure to restrain President Donald Trump's war against Iran, handing a win to the president just hours after a spirited meeting with GOP senators that devolved into shouting.
The procedural motion failed 50-47, with Republican Sens. Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski voting with Democrats.
Just one day earlier, four GOP senators defected on a similar resolution so Wednesday's vote was hailed as a win for Trump.
"Wow! The Senate just changed its vote on Iran from 50-48 against, to 50-47 for," Trump wrote on social media. "Rand Paul and Bill Cassidy changed. Thank you to Leader John Thune, Lindsey Graham, Bernie Moreno, and all. This vote puts Iran on notice!"
Democrat Sen. Tim Kaine's resolution would have directed Mr. Trump to "remove the United States Armed Forces from hostilities within or against Iran," unless authorized by Congress."
Had it passed, the bill would've required President Trump to veto it in order to block it.

Thank You, Holy Father, for this change of votes so that President Trump can continue the challenging plans to resolve the Iran war. We ask for You to stand with the President as he moves forward to protect the world from a nuclear Iran and open the Strait of Hormuz. We ask for true Heavenly wisdom for the Trump administration as negotiators move ahead.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” (James 1:5)

1. PM: Iran, Hezbollah to have ‘no role in Lebanon’ under deal, Israel can maintain security zone - Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Friday’s framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon a “historic achievement for Israel” that opens the door to an eventual “peace agreement between the two nations” while still allowing the Israel Defense Forces to remain across the border and combat threats from Hezbollah.
Netanyahu made the remarks in a wide-ranging press conference on Saturday night, in which he also discussed the upcoming election as well as the recently signed memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran, which kicked off 60 days of talks between those countries to permanently end the US-Israeli war with the Islamic Republic.
Israel is not a party to those talks, and the terms of the MOU have sparked profound concern in Israel because they mandate a ceasefire in Lebanon and free up money for Iran without it agreeing to defined concessions on its nuclear program. Netanyahu said Israel was sending a delegation to Washington, DC, to discuss the MOU, and claimed that the war created the conditions for the Iranian regime to fall. (Read more)

2. Hezbollah says Israel-Lebanon agreement ‘null and void’; Israel said bracing for attack - Times of Israel
Hezbollah’s leader on Saturday pilloried the Israel-Lebanon framework agreement signed in Washington as “null and void” and a surrender of Lebanon’s sovereignty, with the terror group’s top ally in Beirut’s parliament going as far as calling it an “incitement to civil war.”
The deal Beirut and Jerusalem signed Friday, the result of five rounds of talks in the US capital, is intended to pave the way for an eventual peace agreement. It includes a pilot effort in which Lebanese soldiers will take control of some areas held by Israeli troops, as well as a process aimed at disarming Hezbollah.
Rejecting the agreement, the terror group’s chief Naim Qassem called it a “humiliation” and said it should be replaced by the Iran-US memorandum of understanding, which was signed the week before in Switzerland, and which linked the ceasefire in Lebanon with the truce between Iran and the US — a move that greatly concerned Israel. The tunnel, located near the village of Majdal Zoun in southern Lebanon, was over 25 meters deep. It contained hundreds of weapons and several shafts from which rockets would be launched towards Israel, according to Netanyahu and Katz's statement.
The IDF announced that the demolition mission was carried out by forces from the 551st Brigade in coordination with Yahalom Combat Engineers. (Read more)

4. Netanyahu: I am not boycotting anyone, I intend to form a broad national government - Israel National News
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the upcoming elections and the future coalition landscape during a press conference on Saturday night. He stated that his goal is to establish a broad national government that operates on consensus rather than a narrow coalition.
"I believe there are internal forces seeking to fracture the nation," Netanyahu said. "They want to exacerbate and deepen misunderstandings and disagreements, and I believe this is a terrible mistake. We must make every possible effort to resolve our internal issues through consensus."
He added, "We face external enemies, and I declare - there will be no civil war here." He continued, "I intend to form a broad national government, not a narrow one. Not a left-wing government reliant on Arab parties, but a broad national government, because I believe that is the only way we can reach internal consensus." (Read more)

5. New Israeli envoy: Japan can become one of Israel’s key strategic allies - JNS
Israel can no longer rely solely on the United States and Europe for strategic alliances, given how quickly geopolitical dynamics can shift, Israel’s incoming ambassador to Japan, Emmanuel Navon, told JNS in an interview at the JNS 2026 International Policy Summit in Jerusalem this week.
“Today, Japan is not a strategic partner, but the idea is to turn it into one. Israel, I think, today understands the need to diversify its alliances and relations,” Navon said.
A co-founder and CEO of the Euro-Med Middle East Council and a lecturer in international relations at Tel Aviv University for the past 24 years, Navon has combined careers in academia and business consulting. His areas of expertise include Israeli diplomacy, foreign policy, energy, security and geopolitics. (Read more)

1. Blue state leaders erupt after Supreme Court’s decision ending TPS protections for Haitians, Syrians- Fox News
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Trump administration in two key immigration cases on Thursday, drawing strong opposition from blue state Democrats and prompting a prominent House Republican to break ranks over concerns of a looming healthcare "crisis."
In a 6-3 decision in Mullin v. Doe, the high court ruled that Haitian and Syrian nationals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) cannot turn to federal courts to postpone the revocation of their legal status while challenging the Trump administration's policies.
In a separate ruling, the court also held that migrants turned away at the southern border before entering the U.S. are not entitled to apply for asylum.
Democrat leaders in New York and Massachusetts immediately held news conferences to denounce the Supreme Court's decisions and pledge local resistance. (Read more)

2. Supreme Court strikes down blue state's 'vampire rule' in major win for gun rights- Fox News
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Hawaii on Thursday, handing concealed-carry permit holders a major victory in a 6-3 decision.
The Supreme Court sided with the plaintiff in Wolford v. Lopez, who contested Hawaii's state law requiring a property owner's explicit permission to allow lawful gun owners to bring firearms into public businesses.
"Hawaii's law at issue here violates the constitutional right to keep and bear arms," Justice Samuel Alito wrote. "This regime hobbles what the Second Amendment protects: the right of Americans to carry arms for self-defense as they go about their daily lives."
The ruling reverses a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, which had upheld Hawaii's restrictions after the state enacted them in response to the Supreme Court's 2022 Bruen decision.
After Bruen struck down New York's "proper cause" licensing requirement and held that Americans have a constitutional right to carry handguns outside the home for self-defense, Hawaii overhauled its firearms laws. (Read more)

|
Lord God of justice, thank You for this ruling, though we suspect Hawaii will once again attempt to go around it as they did last time the Supreme Court ruled. We bind the Democrat thought process that treats all law-abiding gun owners as criminals to be punished, and ask that You bring a move of repentance to all officials involved. Law-abiding gun owners not just in Hawaii but around the nation have faced many obstacles to their adherence to the Bill of Rights.

3. Gorsuch and Jackson Unite in Supreme Court Roundup Ruling Dissent - Newsweek
Supreme Court Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson and Neil Gorsuch united against the court’s majority in a ruling that shielded Bayer from lawsuits alleging it failed to warn consumers that the weedkiller Roundup could cause cancer.
The court issued a 7-2 ruling on Thursday, holding that the original Roundup maker, Monsanto, which was acquired by Bayer in 2018, cannot be sued in state courts because the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has not determined that glyphosate, a key ingredient in the weedkiller, causes cancer. The ruling produced an unusual split among the justices, with Jackson, a liberal, authoring a dissent joined by Gorsuch, a conservative.
The ruling is significant because it could block thousands of other lawsuits alleging the company failed to warn consumers that Roundup could cause cancer. (Read more)

Lord, this is one of those rulings that divides everyone simply because it is based on the lack of related action by a federal agency. This has occurred often even with the VA from the dangers of Agent Orange during the Vietnam war. We pray that You will cause the EPA to make this right by using proper research to determine whether the ingredient in Roundup causes cancer. It would incur many more lawsuits and payouts if they do, however, if it is right in Your eyes, then it should happen. We ask that Your will and heart ultimately prevail.

4. FBI warns battlefield-style drone attacks could reach US: 'Only a matter of time' – Fox News
It is "only a matter of time" before the type of drone attacks seen on battlefields overseas reach the United States, FBI Deputy Director Chris Raia warned in an interview with Fox News Digital — as investigators race to prepare for rapidly evolving technology that could eventually allow operators thousands of miles away to pilot aircraft targeting Americans.
"I think the biggest threat right now, kind of the five-yard target, if you will, is going to be that threat from a drone," Raia said.
Federal officials increasingly have become concerned that advances in commercially available drone technology are giving individuals and small groups capabilities once associated with larger organizations, lowering the barriers to carrying out potentially devastating attacks. (Read more)

5. White House condemns 'targeted sabotage' of reflecting pool as repairs pushed past July 4 celebration- Fox News
A court document released by the White House revealed that the National Park Service (NPS) plans to drain the reflecting pool again after Independence Day to conduct repairs after it was allegedly vandalized.
In the document, which was filed in federal court on Thursday, NPS Deputy Director for Operations Frank Lands states that on June 9, U.S. Park Police responded to a report of damage to the reflecting pool.
Lands stated that the damage to the pool included caulk over the foam sealant that was cut with a "sharp knife or razor" and "destruction of delaminating surface material." He also said approximately 70 fence post tops were thrown into the pool.
Lands said NPS plans to drain the reflecting pool to conduct repairs, including "assessing and repairing any damage to the lining," and will begin "following the Independence Day celebration." (Read more)

Holy God, this constant vandalism of the Reflecting Pool is another fruit of the wickedness of leftists who hate President Trump. We ask that You not just reveal the culprits, but that You move to bring repentance to all who participate in such actions.
“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Ephesians 5:18-20)

6. Ex-Trump Advisor John Bolton Pleads Guilty to Mishandling Classified Documents- Breitbart
Former National Security Advisor (NSA) John Bolton on Friday pleaded guilty in federal court to mishandling classified documents.
Bolton, a prominent foe of U.S. President Donald Trump, was indicted on 18 counts related to improper handling of classified material and initially pleaded not guilty.
He appeared in Greenbelt, Maryland, before Judge Theodore D. Chuang, an appointee of then-President Barack Obama.
The 77-year-old admitted to a single charge of illegal retention of classified information. The documents he retained included diary entries containing national defence information, some of it classified at the top secret level.
As part of the agreement, Bolton agreed to pay a $2.25 million fine. (Read more)

Lord, this admission is just the tip of a deep-state-iceberg. Mr. Bolton actively spoke against President Trump and was vicious in his statements, yet he mishandled classified documents. So much hatred was leveled against the President that it damaged Trump’s life for years and honestly continues to do so. We ask that accountability come to all who live in their hatred, and truth be applied to every adversary in the Name of Jesus.

7. 9th Circuit Rules in Favor of Two Flight Attendants Fired for Questioning the Equality Act- The Washington Stand
Two flight attendants fired for questioning the Equality Act may proceed with a lawsuit alleging religious discrimination against both their company and labor union, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled Wednesday in Brown v. Alaska Airlines. “The Ninth Circuit’s decision today reinforces that federal civil rights laws protect people of faith from discrimination by their employer or their union,” cheered First Liberty Institute senior counsel Stephanie Taub, who argued the case before the court. “You cannot be fired because your employer does not like your religious beliefs.”
District Judge Barbara Rothstein in the Western District of Washington had previously ruled against Lacey Smith and Marli Brown, granting summary judgment to the airline and labor union and dismissing the women’s claims. The Ninth Circuit reversed, concluding “that both plaintiffs have established a triable issue.” Their lawsuit will now proceed to trial.
“In this case, Smith and Brown both established, at minimum, a genuine dispute,” the court reasoned. “Smith and Brown claim they were discriminated against based on their religious beliefs, a protected ground. … Alaska argues that it did not fire Brown [or Smith] for her religious beliefs but because it regarded her as having violated the company’s anti-discrimination and harassment policies. This argument captures the genuine dispute in this case; it does not settle it. That is because for the reasons we have given, a reasonable jury could find Alaska’s position pretextual.” (Read more)

Judge blocks Trump administration's overhauled database of Americans' personal information
|
|
|
A federal judge on Monday ruled the Trump administration acted unlawfully when it created a centralized database that contains Americans' private information, which she said has since been used by some states to incorrectly remove U.S. citizens from their voter rolls.
U.S. District Judge Sparkle Sooknanan in Washington, D.C., sided with a voting rights group and nonprofit that works to protect privacy in finding that the administration violated three different laws with its new system that includes Americans' citizenship data.
"All in all, the federal government has knowingly trampled on the privacy rights of American citizens in a manner that threatens the sacred right to vote," she wrote. "This Court cannot stand idly by while that happens."
The judge set aside the administration's overhaul of a database maintained by the Department of Homeland Security to verify citizenship and immigration status, called the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, or SAVE, system.
The plaintiffs in the case had argued that the Trump administration turned that tool into a "searchable national citizenship data system" that draws from records held by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security. (CBS News) Read more

Father, whether or not this website was used to delete citizen information is a question. Often noncitizens are referred to by the press as “citizens” even if they are not. IDF captures Hezbollah drone factory and launch site hidden inside south Lebanon mountain
|
|
|
Buried beneath a hilltop village in southern Lebanon, just kilometers from the Israeli border, the Hezbollah terror group built an underground drone “airbase” from which it launched Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicles at Israel.
The subterranean facility, guarded by massive steel blast doors, was built in the past decade with direct Iranian assistance, including planning and funding, Israeli military officials told The Times of Israel during an organized media tour of the site last week.
Journalists were brought into Lebanon at dusk, so that the visit to the tunnel would take place under the cover of darkness — an attempt by the military to mitigate the possibility of Hezbollah attacks on members of the press.
As the sun set over the Mediterranean, reporters were driven in a convoy of Humvees along the Lebanese coast before heading east toward Majdal Zoun, some six kilometers (3.7 miles) from the Israeli frontier.
With just the moonlight and glowsticks to illuminate the way, soldiers led the group to the tunnel’s main entrance, which was accessible from the ground level on the north side of the mountain. (Times of Israel) Read more

Frustration grows in Venezuela as earthquake death toll reaches 1,430
|
|
|
|
LA GUAIRA, Venezuela (AP) — Tensions flared Saturday as desperation grew in Venezuela’s state of La Guaira as rescuers and civilians searched for earthquake survivors and the death toll rose sharply to 1,430.
Families reported at least 68,900 people missing Saturday, three days after the one-two punch of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes devastated the South American nation.
Venezuelans looking for loved ones and neighbors used shovels, heavy equipment, ropes and bare hands atop mounds of toppled concrete throughout La Guaira, one of the hardest-hit states. They were joined by a growing number of international rescue teams who began to climb through the rubble, offering a small glint of hope to anguished families.
Tensions peaked over what many Venezuelans viewed as an inadequate response by the government, whose soldiers, firefighters, police and military cadets were evidently underprepared to respond to the scope of the tragedy. Frustration was amplified by efforts to project the image of a robust state response.
Aid agencies consider the first 48 to 72 hours as crucial for retrieving people alive, though that can be extended if they have access to food and water. Venezuelan officials said 17 flights carrying more than 1,600 rescue team members had touched down by Saturday.
As 72 hours passed since the earthquakes struck, many felt every minute ticking away as they ran out of time to rescue people alive.
“There’s a pile of bodies over there from last night. Newborn babies,” said Mileidy Romero, who was among those searching in the seaside town of Caraballeada. “At 8 p.m. (yesterday) there were people alive down there, and they haven’t bothered to rescue them. We’ve located several bodies, and they haven’t helped us recover them either. What are they waiting for?
Tension mounts during rescue efforts
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez said on state television that more than 14,000 members of the military and police are patrolling the area, where access is now blocked and special permits are required to enter. But many in disaster zones said they had seen little of their government.
Some people climbed the remnants of buildings and cried out names, hoping for any proof of life. Dust coated coastal communities. In punishing heat, more people wore masks as the stench of decomposition spread. In other parts of La Guaira, teams loaded stacks of bodies – some in white bags, other naked – onto white trucks from the ground of a dirt hospital parking lot, where they were being identified. Oh, Holy God!
We do not know why You allow these natural disasters to take place, so we turn to You, Holy One, for comfort. As You strengthen those who are still rescuing these victims, Lord, we ask that You bring supernatural peace and calm to all who are helping recover the survivors of these quakes.
Lord God, no matter what, we ask that these disasters would serve as a reminder that we never know when our time comes to face eternity. May these disasters serve as a true "wake up call," reminding each of us in repentance and salvation to always
be ready should our own time come to face eternity, without warning. Thank You, O Lord, for hearing our prayer, amen and amen.

Centuries-old pirate mystery deepens after wrecks are found near Bahamas haven
|

One wreck yielded iron cannons, lead musket balls and sword sharpener consistent with piracy in 1600s and 1700s
|
|
|
A group of filmmakers and archaeologists say they've found the first shipwrecks linked to the real-life pirates who once operated from Nassau in The Bahamas.
In a joint statement in early June, the New Providence Pirates Expedition and Wreckwatch TV announced that they had discovered six shipwrecks near Nassau, including three from the Golden Age of Piracy.
"Until now, not one of their ships has ever come to light in their home waters," researchers said.
The Golden Age of Piracy took place between the 1650s and the 1730s — when pirates operated throughout the Caribbean and other trade routes.
The Bahamas emerged as a center of piracy in the late 17th century, and the release noted that 1,000 pirates and sailors lived in the Nassau port at its peak.
One wreck yielded iron cannons, lead musket balls and a sword sharpener — items researchers said were consistent with piracy during the era.
The team also found hull planks, rigging and cargo remains, including glass bottles and bricks from the ship's galley.
At another wreck, divers found clay tobacco pipes bearing the royal crest of England, suggesting it was an English trading vessel from the 1740s. (Fox News) Read More
