Job Openings Soar to 7.6 Million, Highest in Nearly Two Years
|
|
The number of open jobs in the U.S. economy jumped to 7.6 million in April while layoffs declined, evidence of how demand for workers has intensified.
At the end of April, there were just over 7.6 million open positions, up from about 6.9 million at the end of March, according to the Labor Department’s monthly report on job openings and labor turnover. This is the largest number of job vacancies in two years.
The manufacturing sector saw openings rise to 474,000, up 24,000 from the previous month and 98,000 higher than a year ago. The monthly increase was entirely in durable goods businesses, as nondurable goods openings remained flat. (Breitbart) Read More Here

Israel and Lebanon Agree to a Ceasefire
|

Israel and Lebanon announced Wednesday they had agreed to implement a ceasefire.
The deal, reached after negotiations in Washington, depends on a full stop to attacks by the Hezbollah terrorist group and the withdrawal of all its fighters from the area south of the Litani River.
“The two sides agreed with the guidance of the United States to swiftly advance the creation of pilot zones in which the Lebanese Armed Forces will take exclusive control of the territory to the exclusion of all non-state actors,” the joint statement with the United States said. Abba, thank You that Lebanon and Israel have agreed to a new ceasefire plan. This plan includes zones being created where the Lebanese Army will be in control without Hezbollah intervention and we ask Your hand of blessing on these zones. Holy Spirit, we ask You to dispatch Your angels to speak to the hearts of all Hezbollah leadership, pour fear into their hearts bringing caution to their decisions on any retaliation, give them eyes to see Your hand at work bringing a stop to the killing. Father God, Your heart is for peace and not war, so we ask You to intervene in whatever way You know is needed to put an end to Hezbollah waging war against Your people Israel. Fars Politics on Telegram has issued the following outline on Wednesday (machine translated). Also, somewhat contradicting reports from other state media outlets, Fars has stated that indirect talks with Washington are still ongoing, but that no final decision on a MOU has yet been made.
Phase 1: Ending war and halting military actions.
Phase 2: Tangible measures, including: The issue of the strait and the mechanisms related to it,
Lifting the blockade, Removing restrictions and oil sanctions, Releasing part of Iran's frozen assets and blocked financial resources.
Phase 3: Dedicated to discussions on sanctions and the nuclear file.
Phase 4: Involves establishing a supervisory committee to oversee implementation of the understanding and monitor the commitments of all parties.
Saeed Ajorlou, a member of the media team of the negotiating delegation provided the following commentary via Fars:
Phase One is ending the war and achieving a complete halt to military actions. This must encompass all parties and all fronts—whether Iran and the United States or the so-called Resistance Axis.
After Phase One is stabilized, the focus shifts to practical and tangible measures. In this phase, four key issues must be addressed:

1. Soldier killed in anti-tank missile attack as Hezbollah rejects Lebanon ceasefire proposal - Times of Israel
An IDF officer was killed in a Hezbollah anti-tank guided missile attack in southern Lebanon on Thursday, as the Iran-backed terror group rejected a ceasefire plan agreed to by the Lebanese and Israeli governments in US-mediated talks.
The military named the slain officer as Cpt. Eitan Shmuel Lemberg, 21, of the 7th Armored Brigade’s 75th Battalion, from Mishmar HaShiv’a.
At around 4 p.m., a Hezbollah operative fired an anti-tank missile at an Israeli tank operating north of the Litani River, killing Lemberg. (Read more)

Iran has made a ceasefire in Lebanon a condition for any peace deal with Washington, and has suggested in recent days that it could intervene directly if Israel keeps up attacks there.

The agreement, brokered by the United States, came at the conclusion of the second day of the fourth round of the historic direct talksbetween Jerusalem and Beirut in Washington.

4. Netanyahu blocks IDF plan to expand fighting in Lebanon - Israel Hayom
Members of Israel's small cabinet who convened Wednesday night learned only after the meeting ended that the US had announced a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. But behind the scenes, according to sources familiar with the matter who spoke with Israel Hayom, it emerged that during the discussion, Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir presented a plan to expand the fighting and the ground maneuver in Lebanon, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voiced reservations.
According to the sources, most ministers, including Defense Minister Israel Katz, supported the IDF proposal. Netanyahu's reservations, however, signaled the direction in which he sought to lead the discussion. Although the ceasefire was not discussed in detail at the meeting, the ministers understood that the prime minister preferred a diplomatic move over an expansion of the fighting.
According to the details of the understandings published so far, Israel will retain operational freedom of action against threats from Hezbollah, including the possibility of strikes in Beirut and Dahiyeh in the event of fire toward Israel or other violations of the agreement. (Read more)

Fate of nuclear material is unknown, Iran no longer allows inspections of critical sites
The risk that Iran is covertly pursuing nuclear weapons is higher today than it was before Operation Rising Lion last year, when the United States and Israel launched military strikes against the Islamic Republic, Bloomberg News reported.
According to a classified document from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) obtained by Bloomberg, the IAEA assesses that Iran is more likely to pursue nuclear weapons covertly than it was before the military strikes.
The IAEA has warned of new proliferation risks due to the unclear whereabouts of Iran’s large stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
In February, the IAEA estimated that Iran possessed around 440 kilograms (about 970 pounds) of uranium enriched to 60%. While below the purity level needed for nuclear weapons, experts say the quantity is sufficient to rapidly process into weapons-grade uranium within a few weeks.
The IAEA can no longer “draw any conclusion regarding this nuclear material,” the report stated. “This gives rise to a proliferation concern as this nuclear material, which the agency was not able to verify, includes a large amount of high-enriched uranium." (All Isael News) (Read more)

We ask that You watch over this highly disturbing article by the International Atomic Energy Agency concerning just how much highly enriched uranium Iran actually has and where it is located. We pray that everything hidden will be exposed and brought to light. The agency can no longer draw any conclusions regarding the nuclear materials since inspections are not allowed.
Father, we ask that the IAEA be brought back into the negotiations so that they can be more informed about how much of the highly enriched uranium Iran has, which can be made into nuclear weapons in a matter of weeks. The world needs to know!
Holy Father, we know that you are watching over America and Israel in all these matters and we continue to pray for wisdom for President Trump and his team as they negotiate the ending of this vicious war and bring to an end the nuclear capabilities of Iran. 2. US Overhauls Federal Homelessness Assistance Through $4 Billion Initiative – Retirement Media
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is inviting applications for a $4.04 billion funding program aimed at tackling homelessness, overhauling the program by ditching “Housing First” policies, and tying future funding to performance.
Earlier homeless assistance programs focused on Housing First policies, under which the priority was to grant homeless people immediate access to permanent housing without any preconditions. However, this was largely unsuccessful, according to HUD.

No longer will the 'Housing First' plan without preconditions be implemented. Thank You, Father, that the new $4.04 Billion Notice of Funding Opportunity comes with a homeless assistance mandate that requires drug treatment programs.
Lord, rebuke Satan for ruining so many lives in America with drugs and making them dependent, filling them with hopelessness and despair. We pray for a way out of addiction for them and a return of self esteem. Pluck them, Lord, from the hand of the enemy!

Holy One, only You can keep track of all the races that will be held this year as candidates contend for 435 seats in the House of Representatives, and 33 seats in the Senate -- each one "fighting" for a win.
Lord God, we thank You that You can keep track of all of this activity for us, as we continue to live as "one nation under God" in our land. We ask that there will be a groundswell of voters who will flood to the polls in November, and who will then vote for the men or the women of Your choosing.

English professor warns: Today’s students cannot read or focus on lengthy assignments
Another professor has joined the chorus of scholars warning that students’ reading skills and attention spans are abysmal.
Writing in the Chronicle of Higher Education, literature Professor Tyler Jagt told of an assignment for his rhetoric and writing class that asked students to read a 20-page paper. Not one student finished the paper.
“It was the same length I had assigned for five years and the same length I had read without complaint as an undergraduate a decade ago,” wrote Jagt, who has taught literature and critical writing at Mercer University, James Madison University, and Wake Forest University.
“When I asked why, a student answered honestly: It was too long, and she kept losing track of what the paper was about. This was not a remedial class: These were students who had cleared the admissions process and written essays good enough to get them here. Lord God Almighty, with some notable exceptions, our public school systems have become a faint shadow of what they have been and what they could become again. Abba, You know better than we do what the problems have been in training teachers, in permissiveness, homes where parents take the path of least resistance with their kids, or are not there physically or emotionally for their children. Abba, we know that there are a number of studies revealing best practices for teaching/learning that are not being implemented due to Marxist influence at the college level, funding from foreign nations for higher education with strings attached, school boards unwilling to spend money on vital curriculum needs and resources; and on and on…. We pray and believe that we will return to the best for our children as revival floods our nation!
May we desire and comprehend what is best for our children—may our homes have many books, may kids see their parents reading and/or reading to them; may time spent with screens be regulated for the whole family. We especially pray that the Bible would become the most read book in our households, remembering that: “So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11) But first, let’s get those precious children reading well and often and able to sustain their attention as they grow and learn. We ask that a deep desire to know You, Your word, and seek Your ways be imparted to our youth. In Yeshua’s mighty name, Amen!!!

The FBI has unveiled the results of a sweeping nationwide crime crackdown that led to more than 1,100 arrests, hundreds of indictments, and the seizure of nearly 1,000 firearms as federal agents ramp up efforts to dismantle violent criminal networks across America.

7. Priest removed as exorcist after his comments on UFOs - DML News
The Catholic archbishop of Washington, D.C., Cardinal Robert McElroy, on Wednesday removed a well-known priest as an exorcist of the archdiocese after he made public comments suggesting that UFO sightings were the work of demons. McElroy said the archdiocese also was cutting ties with the St. Michael Center for Spiritual Renewal, a Washington-based nonprofit headed by the priest, Monsignor Stephen Rossetti.
In a video Rossetti posted to his Facebook page on Friday, he addressed UFO sightings and aliens. “There’s a danger here,” Rossetti said. “As an exorcist I wanted to raise that danger. And that is that demons like to hide. … They don’t want us to know what they’re doing because they’re more effective when we don’t realize it.”
The archbishop said Rossetti’s statements “linking UFOs to demonic presence and the Center’s recent use of social media gravely undermine the Church’s very precise teaching on the devil, demons and exorcism.” (Read more here)

The Cost of Demonizing Political Opponents

The Daily Jot has been tracking the rhetoric in American politics and the left continues to vilify conservatives and President Trump as existential evil rather than fellow citizens with competing ideas. CNN commentator Bakari Sellers recently declared that Republicans had “swapped out Klan hoods for Brooks Brothers suits,” a comparison equating millions of Americans with one of history’s most vile hate groups. Around the same time, a theatrical production promoted by left-leaning circles portrayed President Trump as “downright evil.” Political rhetoric has always been sharp, but the modern habit of assigning moral monstrosity to political adversaries creates dangerous cultural conditions.
Once people become convinced their opponents are incarnations of evil, restraint begins to look like complicity, and extreme action can start to feel like civic virtue. This becomes especially troubling when set against a backdrop of actual political violence. History teaches a simple truth: repeated dehumanization lowers psychological barriers. Most citizens hearing inflammatory commentary will never act on it. A small unstable minority, however, may hear a moral summons. If political figures are described as fascists, existential threats, or pure evil, someone already detached from reason may imagine himself a rescuer rather than a criminal. Bipartisan Group Introduces Bill to Protect Private Citizens’ 4th Amendment Email Privacy

Two Republicans and two Democrats in the Senate and House of Representatives are co-sponsoring proposed legislation designed to protect the Fourth Amendment’s bar of warrantless government searches and seizures of private citizens’ email content.
“The Fourth Amendment is clear: the government must get a warrant before searching an individual’s private property, including written communications. As today’s world has grown increasingly digital, that principle should apply just as strongly to an email inbox as it does to a desk drawer or file cabinet,” Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) said in a jointly issued June 2 statement.
“That’s exactly why I’m proud to cosponsor the Email Privacy Act — to ensure our freedoms carry into the digital world and that all communications are protected as the Founders intended. Congress must pass this commonsense legislation, so Americans’ rights are fully respected in the 21st century,” Davidson added.
Under current statutes, law enforcement authorities such as the Department of Justice (DOJ) are able to acquire email content that is at least 180 days old, thanks to the now-outdated storage capacity limits in force when Congress passed the Electronic Communications Privacy Act in 1986 and in subsequent amendments. The bill has been referred to the respective judiciary committees in the Senate and House.
If the House and Senate both approve the bill and President Donald Trump signs it into law, as it now stands, law enforcement authorities would have to get a judicial warrant to obtain the email content of any age. The measure also requires email providers such as Gmail, AOL, and Yahoo! to inform customers whenever their message data has been legally accessed by the government. Father God, we thank You that members of Congress in both the House and the Senate, on both sides of the aisle, have written the Email Privacy Act. In doing so, they have worked to update the original Electronic Communications Privacy Act, which was written in 1986. We praise You, O Lord, that these members are working to update this bill, so that our Fourth Amendment rights will be secured in this new age of high tech communications.
We also praise You, O Lord, that The measure also requires email providers such as Gmail, AOL, and Yahoo! to inform customers whenever their message data has been legally accessed by the government. We thank You, too, that this bill, as

America 250 vs. Freedom 250: What’s Going on with the Fourth of July?

When the United States of America celebrated the 200th anniversary of its founding in 1976, celebrations and commemorations decked out streets in red, white, and blue, with American flags flying everywhere and patriotic parades in nearly every major city and small town across the country.
Country legend Johnny Cash served as the Grand Marshal of the bicentennial parade in Washington, D.C. President Gerald Ford sailed down the Hudson River to greet hundreds of warships and old vessels from America’s past waiting in New York Harbor. Revolutionary War reenactors recreated George Washington’s legendary crossing of the Delaware River, a recreation which has since become a staple of Independence Day celebrations over the last nearly-50 years. Disneyland in Los Angeles and Walt Disney World in Florida regularly presented “America on Parade,” a lengthy, elaborate, twice-daily parade and fireworks show celebrating and honoring American history and culture.
... one major failure contributing to the dearth of patriotic displays this year is that the congressionally-mandated committee tasked with planning the semiquincentennial celebration has spent the past decade doing little more than bicker and waste taxpayer dollars, planning nearly nothing to celebrate America’s birthday.
America 250
In 2016, then-President Barack Obama signed legislation forming the bipartisan U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, the body in charge of planning the federal celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The commission is comprised of 16 commissioners chosen by party leaders in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, including eight members of Congress and eight private citizens. The president then chooses a chairperson.
Once Trump left office in 2021, the commission quickly devolved into infighting, with various members resigning, accusing one another of sexism, and clamoring for more “diverse” membership, leadership, and programming. Programs initiated by the commission under Biden included LGBT “storytelling” initiatives and suggestions such as highlighting figures like freed slaves and abolitionists over figures more central to America’s founding, like John Adams or Thomas Jefferson. The Columbia Bugle reported, “The Left was going to use America 250 as a new founding for their woke republic. Harriet Tubman on the money. Rainbow flags flying from every pole. Statues toppled. DEI anti-white discrimination codified forever. All to a soundtrack of Kamala Harris cackling.”
Freedom 250
In response to the commission’s failure to plan or organize any significant celebration of the 250th Independence Day, Trump established the White House Task Force on Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday, nicknamed Freedom 250, on January 29, 2025. Freedom 250 had just over a year to plan events, including the Great American State Fair on Washington, D.C.’s National Mall and an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight on the lawn outside the White House.
“Trump is taking 250 flak from willfully ignorant critics. Thanks to Trump, there’s currently a Great American State Fair being built on the National Mall, complete with state pavilions and a big Ferris wheel,” the Columbia Bugle wrote, in response to criticism of Trump’s efforts to celebrate Independence Day. The online outlet added, “Remember: The only reason that America 250 is a celebration, and not a lame apology tour, is because Donald Trump is President.”
Journalist and Trump ally Jack Posobiec commented, “It’s clear the people sniping at Freedom 250 haven’t taken the time to look into anything. … America 250 spent 10 years planning a wokefest apologizing for our nation, staffed by leftists. … Freedom 250 had less than a year to put anything together & big events are complex.” He added, “[O]nce again, I note that most of the people sniping at Freedom 250 have no idea what the situation is and haven’t held large events before. Oh, Holy One, we weep as we see how our nation has sunk over time to the place of chaos we stand in now. 25 years ago, the entire country CELEBRATED our 100th anniversary of our founding; and now, we are in a place of chaos, confusion, anger and disunity across our land.
Forgive us, O Lord! We repent that we have allowed this to happen to us!
As we intercede, we have a deep sense that it is the Communists who have been trained to tear a nation apart, and that they have been doing this for many, many years now. We repent, too, that so many of our teachers have been secretly trained with Marxist doctrines, and have been set in place to indoctrinate our youth with this same agenda.
Help us, O Lord, we pray! May THIS 250-year anniversary of our founding mark a NEW BEGINNING for our people, and a true WAKE UP CALL to return to the ancient paths we have always followed.

National D-Day Memorial marks 25th Anniversary

The account of the landing on Omaha Beach from Sgt. Bob Slaughter, founder of the National D-Day Memorial, taken from “When We Went In”. Originally produced for the Memorial’s 80th anniversary of D-Day in 2024, the multi-media presentation, through Virginia Tech’s Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology, returns Friday night, June 5th.
Angela Lynch, of the D-Day Memorial Foundation, says it’s just one highlight of this weekend’s planned events, “This is the big projection-mapping show, where we’re literally showing a film and using the arch and all of the monument as the backdrop, telling the D-Day narrative through imagery and firsthand accounts from the people who were actually there.”
On Saturday, the traditional ceremony takes place. The keynote speaker will be Drew Dix.
Lynch says, “He’s actually the first person ever from the U.S. Army Special Forces to have received the Medal of Honor and will be on hand to help us dedicate our Medal of Honor plaque in addition to giving the keynote address.”
Lynch notes the fact that June 6 falling on a Saturday this year should allow more people to attend the schedule of planned events.
That, along with the memorial’s 25th anniversary, as well as the nation’s 250th anniversary being only a month away has anticipation building says Lynch, “It really has created a unique opportunity for us in terms of visibility and we couldn’t be more pleased to have the partnerships with the folks at ICAT and of course everyone that works so hard to put on our ceremonies year in and year out.” (Radio IQ) Read More
