Judge Halts Blatant Christian Discrimination in Washington State School District
|

|
A federal judge has stepped in to temporarily halt seemingly blatant anti-Christian discrimination in a public school district just outside Seattle. Lifewise Academy, a faith-based nonprofit providing off-campus Christian extracurricular activities to students with written parental permission, has been the target of a purportedly purposeful prejudice at the hands of authorities within Everett Public Schools in Washington state.
Speaking with CBN News, Lifewise founder Joel Penton said things “went very smoothly” at the start of the partnership between his organization and Everett Public Schools, with dozens of families participating in activities through Lifewise.
That all took a turn last year, though, when one board member took issue with Lifewise’s offerings to students. During a Dec. 9 board meeting, Charles Adkins made very clear he had a personal vendetta against the Christian ministry, which had sent a letter to the board to “address the claim about whether [Adkins’] comments are motivated by animus toward Lifewise Academy.”
“I want to make it very, extremely, abundantly clear that, yes, I do, in fact, hold animus toward Lifewise Academy,” said Adkins. “It is an organization of homophobic bullies, who are active and willing participants in the efforts to bring about an authoritarian theocracy.”
In late April, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington issued a preliminary injunction, temporarily blocking the school district — which oversees some 21,000 students across 27 schools — from singling out Lifewise with overly burdensome restrictions, seemingly to prevent students from participating in off-campus Bible instruction during school hours.
Jeremy Dys, senior counsel for First Liberty Institute, which is representing Lifewise in this case, said, “Targeting the operation of an out-of-school program just because it’s religious is a direct violation of the First Amendment.” (Faith Wire) Read More and Watch Interview Here. |

The U.S. economy is under threat from adversaries like China targeting undersea cables with the ability to "inflict devastating economic chaos almost at will," a former U.S. intelligence official warned Sunday.
These cables carry 99% of global data and support up to $10 trillion in daily financial transactions, according to reports.
Andrew Badger, chief strategy officer at Coalition Systems, a defense tech startup, spoke as President Donald Trump is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing for talks expected to focus on trade, artificial intelligence and Taiwan.
Taiwan, a flashpoint in U.S.-China tensions, has reported about 30 subsea cable incidents in recent years, including one in which Chinese vessels allegedly severed cables and cut communications for months.
"America depends on the fragile nervous system of subsea cables for modern life," Badger, a former Pentagon official and author, told Fox News Digital before warning that U.S. adversaries "seek to turn the bottom of the ocean into a battlefield."
"The asymmetric threat — China and Russia are devoting far more resources to attacking undersea infrastructure than the U.S. or its allies are to defending it," Badger said.
"They've identified one of our greatest vulnerabilities, and we haven't caught up. A coordinated strike on American undersea infrastructure could fundamentally disrupt our way of life — the internet, banking, energy markets and military communications all run through these cables. Russia, Ukraine Agree to Trump's Ceasefire Request as He Pushes for a 'Beginning of the End'

President Donald Trump announced Friday that Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a three-day ceasefire, which he hopes will lead to an end to the conflict entirely.
“I am pleased to announce that there will be a THREE DAY CEASEFIRE (May 9th, 10th, and 11th) in the War between Russia and Ukraine,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“The Celebration in Russia is for Victory Day but, likewise, in Ukraine, because they were also a big part and factor of World War II. This Ceasefire will include a suspension of all kinetic activity, and also a prison swap of 1,000 prisoners from each Country,” he added.
“This request was made directly by me, and I very much appreciate its agreement by President Vladimir Putin and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” Trump said.
Russia recognizes May 9 as the end of World War II, because that is when Nazi Germany surrendered to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, which included present-day Russia and Ukraine. The surrender took place late in the day in Berlin on May 8, 1945, which was already May 9 in Moscow, according to History.com.
The Germans surrendered to the Western Allies in Reims, France, in the early morning hours of May 7, and May 8 was declared V-E Day, Victory in Europe.
Trump continued his Truth Social post regarding the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire, writing, “Hopefully, it is the beginning of the end of a very long, deadly, and hard-fought war. Command Sgt.-Maj. (res.) Alexander Glovanyov, 47, from the central city of Petah Tikvah, served as a heavy transport vehicle driver in the 6924th Transport Battalion of the Technological and Logistics Directorate.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday that the Trump administration is “open to all ideas” to lower the cost of gas, including suspending the federal gas tax.
Gas prices have been soaring, hitting a national average of $4.52 per gallon on Sunday, according to data from motor club AAA — an increase of more than 50% since the start of the Iran war.
Asked by moderator Kristen Welker whether he would support suspending the federal gas tax, Wright said that “all measures that can be taken to lower the price at the pump and lower the prices for Americans, this administration is in support of.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Friday and afterwards questioned why allies including Italy were not backing Washington’s efforts to confront Iran and re-open the Strait of Hormuz.
“I don’t understand why anybody would not be supportive,” Rubio told reporters, adding that countries needed “something more than just strongly worded statements” if they opposed Iran‘s actions.

Iran's Fars News Agency reported Sunday that Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Armed Forces, met with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
According to the report, Abdollahi presented Khamenei with a report detailing the "peak readiness" of all branches of Iran's security forces, from the Revolutionary Guards to the Basij. Abdollahi told the leader that the forces were prepared to respond "quickly and forcefully" to any "strategic mistake or aggression by the American-Zionist enemy."

In the foothills of the Argentine Andes, the enormous Chinese radio telescope sits in one of the world’s premier stargazing locations, surrounded by vast, undulating mountain ranges and beneath skies untouched by light pollution. It is also on the opposite side of the planet from Beijing, offering China a window on the half of the heavens it would not otherwise see.
But the Chinese telescope at the site, the Cesco observatory in San Juan Province, picks up no signals. After the U.S. government repeatedly pressed them on the issue, the Argentine authorities stopped the project’s completion. Lacking key parts, the telescope now sits dismembered, its gigantic antenna pointing blindly at the sky.
As the United States increasingly views Beijing as a rival in space, the stars above South America have become flash points in a geopolitical struggle, with top American officials trying to halt astronomy projects in the Andean deserts out of fear China could use them for military purposes.

6. Two Singaporeans confirmed dead in Indonesia volcano eruption, bodies retrieved - Reuters
Two Singaporean nationals missing following the eruption of Mount Dukono on Indonesia's Halmahera island were confirmed dead on Sunday, the local rescue agency said.
Rescuers found the bodies holding each other under rock debris around the crater rim, agency head Iwan Ramdani said.

The Jubilee of Redemption

This week we are reading, Behar, “On the Mountain” (Leviticus 25:1-26:2), and Bechukotai, “In My Statutes” (Leviticus 26:3-27:34). They paint a remarkable picture of God’s order, provision, and redemption. In Behar, the LORD commands Israel to observe a Sabbatical Year every seventh year, allowing the land to cease from production. Debts were forgiven, slaves released, and every fiftieth year marked the Jubilee, when property returned to its original family owners. God declared, “The land is not to be sold in perpetuity, because the land belongs to Me—you are only foreigners and temporary residents with Me” (Leviticus 25:23). Israel was called to trust God for provision rather than placing confidence in human hands.
The Hebrew word Shabbat carries the idea of ceasing. It is far deeper than taking a break or enjoying leisure. God commanded His people to cease producing, cease striving, and cease believing survival depended solely upon their own hands. The Sabbatical Year became a living testimony that the LORD Himself sustains His people. God promised abundance in the sixth year sufficient to carry them through the seventh and beyond. Much of today’s modern life revolves around nonstop production, endless schedules, and measuring worth through achievement. Yet the Kingdom of God teaches trust before toil. Even ordinary work becomes holy when families are cared for, the needy are helped, and time is set aside to honor the LORD. Provision flows from obedience and trust in God’s hand rather than relentless human effort. Read More

Iran warns the US against attacks on its oil tankers and other ships but ceasefire appears to hold

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran’s Revolutionary Guard navy on Saturday warned that any attack on Iranian oil tankers or commercial vessels would be met with a “heavy assault” on one of the U.S. bases in the region and enemy ships, even as a tenuous ceasefire appeared to be holding.
Iranian state TV reported the warning a day after the United States struck two Iranian oil tankers, casting doubt on the month-old ceasefire that the U.S. has insisted is still in effect. The U.S. military said the tankers were trying to breach its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Meanwhile Bahrain, which hosts the U.S. Navy’s regional headquarters, said it arrested dozens of people it alleged had links to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
Washington awaits Iran’s response to its latest proposal for a deal to end the war, reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping and roll back Tehran’s disputed nuclear program. And Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow’s proposal to take enriched uranium from Iran to help negotiate a settlement remains on the table.
Bahrain said it had arrested 41 people it said are part of a group affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard. The interior ministry said investigations confirmed they were in contact with the Guard and collected funds “with the aim of sending them to Iran” to support its “terrorist operations.”
The small Persian Gulf island is led by a Sunni Muslim monarchy but, like Iran, has a majority Shiite population. Rights groups have said the kingdom has used the war between Iran and the U.S., which bases its Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, as an excuse to crack down on dissent.
Iran issued a warning to Bahrain: “Siding with the U.S.-backed resolution will bring severe consequences. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital lifeline; do not risk closing it on yourselves FOREVER,” Ebrahim Azizi, head of the national security commission of Iran’s parliament, said on social media. Passengers Start Disembarking From Hantavirus Cruise Ship

TENERIFE, Canary Islands (AP) – Passengers started disembarking on Sunday from the hantavirus-hit cruise ship anchored off Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands, hours after arriving there as evacuation plans got underway.
An Associated Press journalist at the scene said that some people were seen reaching land after leaving the ship. Nobody among the more than 140 people on the MV Hondius is showing symptoms of the virus, Spanish authorities, the World Health Organization and cruise company Oceanwide Expeditions said.
Spain’s health ministry said that Spanish nationals would be the first to leave the ship, and would be ferried off in small launch boats that carry between five and 10 people.
The cruise ship reached Tenerife early Sunday morning, after leaving Cape Verde on May 6.
Three people have died since the outbreak, and five passengers who left the ship are infected with hantavirus, which can cause life-threatening illness.
Everyone disembarking will be checked for symptoms, and were being taken off the ship once evacuation flights were ready to fly them to their destinations.
“The entire operation is proceeding normally,” Spanish Health Minister Mónica García said.
Authorities are aiming to complete the evacuation flights between Sunday and Monday, Spanish authorities and WHO said.

You are our healer and deliverer from all diseases. We ask for complete healing for those who have been infected by this Andes Virus, a species of the Hantavirus. Lord, as the passengers disembark the cruise ship and go back to their own countries we pray that no one else would become infected. We ask for comfort for those families of the three that have died. We pray for those who are symptomatic and are going to isolation units in hospitals for specialized care. We plead the blood of Jesus over those who will be quarantined at a medical facility in Nebraska in the US.
Lord God, do not allow fear of another virus to take root in our minds as the thought of what Covid did still lingers. In the Mighty Name of Jesus, we pray for divine protection from all diseases, infirmities and curses that would try to infiltrate America and the nations. In Jesus' name, Amen.

People Are Seeing More Fireballs. Astronomers Can’t Explain It.

Just as it faces an annual hurricane season and tornado season, North America is also experiencing an annual “fireball season,” according to NASA.
“From February through April, the appearance rate of these very bright meteors can increase by as much as 10 percent to 30 percent, especially around the weeks of the March equinox,” NASA explained in a statement in late March. ”Exactly why is not known. Some astronomers think the Earth passes through more large debris at this time of year, causing an uptick in fireball sightings.”
But the relatively regular peak season appears to have been unusually active this year.
The American Meteor Society, which has gathered professional and amateur meteor reports since 1911, said 41 large fireball events—observed by more than 50 people—were reported in the first three months of 2026. That’s nearly double the average number of reported events for that time period from the previous five years.
Mike Hankey, operations manager at the American Meteor Society, told The Epoch Times that this is specifically an increase in “sporadic” meteors that are not connected to any larger comet or asteroid or regularly tracked meteor shower. And the sudden surge is not due to an increase in the number of eyes on the sky, he said.
Astronomers who have dedicated themselves to watching the skies for the falling space rocks are not sure what caused the spike or if it is even a true anomaly—a one-off, unpredictable occurrence. (The Epoch Times) Read More
