Trump makes history: First U.S. president to call the nation to Shabbat
|
|
|
For the first time in American history, a sitting president has called on the entire nation to observe Shabbat. In a White House proclamation signed May 4, 2026, as part of Jewish American Heritage Month, President Donald Trump designated the period from sundown Friday, May 15, through nightfall Saturday, May 16, as a national Shabbat, dubbed “Shabbat 250”, in honor of the 250th anniversary of American independence. The move sent shockwaves through Jewish and Christian communities alike, and for those who know their Talmud, the implications stretch far beyond a single weekend.
Invoking President George Washington’s celebrated 1790 letter to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport, Rhode Island, in which Washington wrote that the United States “gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance,” Trump tied the founding promise of America directly to its Jewish citizens.
“In special honor of 250 glorious years of American independence and on the weekend of Rededicate 250 — a national jubilee of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving — Jewish Americans are encouraged to observe a national Sabbath,” Trump wrote. “From sundown on May 15 to nightfall on May 16, friends, families, and communities of all backgrounds may come together in gratitude for our great Nation. This day will recognize the sacred Jewish tradition of setting aside time for rest, reflection, and gratitude to the Almighty.”
In a direct rebuke of the rising tide of antisemitism on college campuses and beyond, Trump wrote: “Under my leadership, we are aggressively fighting the violence against Jewish Americans that increased under my predecessor, prosecuting hateful criminals to the fullest extent of the law, and working to end the scourge of anti-Semitism throughout our institutions.”

NATO Chief Says European Leaders Have Finally 'Gotten the Message' from Trump and Are Changing Their Ways
|

The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization said Monday that European countries have “gotten the message” from President Donald Trump and are stepping up to assist the U.S. with the Iran conflict.
Certain European nations are honoring agreements with America regarding the use of military bases and are even willing to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported.
“Yes, there has been some disappointment from the U.S. side, but Europeans have listened,” NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte told reporters. “They are now making sure that all the bilateral basing agreements are being implemented.”
He added that “more and more” European countries are preparing minehunters and minesweepers for the “next phase,” to help clear out munitions that were left throughout the strait by Iran.
Spain, a NATO member, had previously declared its military bases wouldn’t be used for anything related to the Iran conflict.
Rutte, however, said other NATO countries are currently coordinating with U.S. officials about the use of their bases and other logistical matters.
Those countries include: Montenegro, Croatia, Romania, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Britain, France, and Germany. (The Western Journal) Read more here.

Ron DeSantis Makes Florida's New Congressional Maps Official in Timely Redistricting Boost for Republicans

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has spent the past seven years reshaping the Sunshine State’s politics.
After a razor-thin victory in the 2018 governor’s race, DeSantis turned the one-time swing state into a reliably Republican bastion — including a 2022 re-election victory that was the GOP’s biggest moment in a disappointing year.
And with one signature on Monday, he aimed to turn a red state even redder — in a timely boost for Republicans heading into the 2026 midterms.
DeSantis kicked off the work week by signing a congressional redistricting map approved by his state’s legislature last week, only hours after the Supreme Court’s landmark Louisiana v. Callais decision.
“Signed, Sealed, and Delivered,” DeSantis wrote on X.
Under Florida’s current congressional districts, Republicans hold 20 House seats while Democrats hold eight. The new map makes it likely Republicans will pick up four seats and reduce the Democratic presence by the same number.
In the new map, the Democratic-dominated districts — three in South Florida and one in the central part of the state — are tiny islands of blue in a sea of red. (The Western Journal) Read more here.

Report: Democrats Are Seeking to Stage a Mutiny Against the Chair of the DNC
|
|
Democrats performed well in the 2025 elections and now enjoy a favorable climate ahead of the 2026 midterms. Still, party insiders have expressed trepidation and even panic over leadership at the Democratic National Committee.
According to The Bulwark, which bills itself as an outlet “founded to provide analysis and reporting in defense of America’s liberal democracy,” DNC members have spoken in private about a possible mutiny against DNC Chair Ken Martin. The report cited three sources “familiar with these conversations.”
In the end, the mutinous DNC members shelved their plan because they lacked ready alternatives. Frustration with Martin, however, has nonetheless reached a tipping point.
Part of that frustration stems from Martin’s interview late last month on the “Pod Save America” podcast. In that interview, Martin gave what some DNC members and party strategists characterized as ridiculous excuses for not releasing the DNC’s own autopsy of the 2024 election, in which then-Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris lost to President Donald Trump. “What we don’t need to be focused on is actually relitigating 2024,” Martin said in a clip posted to the social media platform X. Abba, the Democratic Party has so many fractures and "outside" the norm opinions and positions on who America is and who she should be, that it is hard to define who they are and what they believe. This disparity is now being seen in a disagreement on the leadership of the DNC Chair, Ken Martin. There are concerns about the direction he is taking ahead of the 2026 Midterms as well as financial issues.
Father God, You are the only one who knows how to fix this. We ask You to bring Your chosen spokesman for the Democratic National Committee to the front. Give them Your truth to speak and vision to see what Your intentions are for this political party and our nation. SCOTUS Issues Urgent Judgment Late Monday, Clears Path for State to Cut Dem House Seats by 50 Percent
|

The Supreme Court agreed Monday to throw out racial gerrymandering in Louisiana’s congressional districts, triggering a war of words among justices.
The court ruled last week that districts drawn to enhance the power of black voters under the auspices of the 1965 Voting Rights Act are no longer legitimate, as noted by NBC News. That means Louisiana, which has six congressional seats, will redraw lines that currently protect two majority-black districts. That process is likely to reduce the number of Democratic seats in Louisiana from two to one.
The ruling caused a procedural train wreck, because until the court issues its final order on the decision, that process cannot start. As it is, Louisiana’s primary elections are on hold until new maps are drawn. That led the state to ask that a longstanding rule allowing a 32-day period between the decision and the order enforcing it to be waived so the state can continue with its elections.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote a fiery dissent, saying “principles give way to power” and trashing her colleagues for allowing the ruling to take effect. Justice Samuel Alito, stung by Jackson’s attacks on those who hold different opinions from hers, filed a response supporting the order to allow the ruling to take effect immediately.
In the response to Brown’s dissent, Alito wrote, “The dissent would require that the 2026 congressional elections in Louisiana be held under a map that has been held to be unconstitutional.” “The dissent does not claim that it is now too late for the state legislature or the District Court to adopt a new map that complies with the Constitution. Nor does the dissent assert that it is not feasible for the elections to be held under such a map,” Alito wrote.
“Instead, the dissent offers two reasons for its proposed course of action. One is trivial at best, and the other is baseless and insulting,” he added. “The first is compliance with the 32-day default rule set out in this Court’s Rule 45.3, but as the Court’s order ex- plains, there is good reason to depart from the default rule here,” Alito wrote.
“The second reason offered by the dissent is that we should allow the 32-day period to run out in order to ‘avoid the appearance of partiality,’” he continued. (The Western Journal) Read more here.

1. Mladenov: Israel reaffirmed commitment to Gaza peace plan in J’lem meeting

High Representative for Gaza Nickolay Mladenov said he held a “positive and substantive discussion” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Tuesday.
Participants in the meeting “reaffirmed our commitment to the full implementation” of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for the Strip, the Board of Peace official wrote in a post on X.
“Working with all sides to turn commitment into concrete actions. This will require decisions for progress,” Mladenov added. “We keep moving forward in the interest of a better future for Israelis and Palestinians.”
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office did not immediately provide a readout of Tuesday’s meeting, which was also attended by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, senior Trump administration official Aryeh Lightstone and Liran Tancman, an Israeli tech entrepreneur who is advising the Board of Peace on a volunteer basis, according to a picture distributed by the PMO. As the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas continues to reject disarmament and further stalls progress on the US-backed Gaza ceasefire deal, Israeli officials are weighing contingency plans for a renewed military campaign should negotiations collapse entirely.
According to multiple media reports, the Israel Defense Forces believes the current negotiations are unlikely to result in either Hamas’s disarmament or the full demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, warning that the terrorist group is exploiting the diplomatic pause to rebuild its capabilities, consolidate control, and further entrench its governance in Gaza.
“Hamas is deliberately dragging its feet. It is exploiting attention on Iran and Lebanon and, in the meantime, is entrenching itself in the Gaza Strip — reasserting control over the territory, establishing governance structures, and rebuilding its military capabilities,” a military source told the Israeli news outlet Walla. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken in recent days with several Gulf leaders, including United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed, to coordinate positions regarding the situation with Iran.
The United Arab Emirates is now taking Iranian fireafter Tehran failed to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed.

4. Israeli official: 'We weren't surprised by Trump's shift on Iran talks'

An Israeli official addressed the reports by Reuters that Israel was surprised by US President Donald Trump's change in position on negotiations with Iran.
"The Americans did not surprise us. Prime Minister Netanyahu is in constant contact with President Trump, and they have almost daily conversations. There is a direct connection between the Prime Minister's people and the President's people," the official said.
"It was made clear to us from the talks that President Trump stands by his red lines, chief among them the removal of the nuclear material. The Prime Minister instructed the IDF to be prepared for any scenario, including a return to combat if necessary," the source said. (Read more)

5. Hezbollah drone wounds two IDF soldiers - World Israel News
Two Israeli soldiers were wounded on Wednesday afternoon when a Hezbollah suicide drone exploded near them during operations in Southern Lebanon.
“In several incidents a short while ago, the Hezbollah terrorist organization launched explosive drones and a number of rockets toward IDF soldiers operating in Southern Lebanon,” the military stated.
“As a result, two IDF soldiers were moderately and lightly injured. The soldiers were evacuated to receive medical treatment at a hospital, and their families have been notified,” added the statement.
In a separate incident, the Israeli Air Force intercepted a hostile aerial target before it crossed into Israeli territory, according to the IDF. No air-raid sirens were activated, in line with protocol, the military said. (Read more)

It points specifically to Title IX regulations that are meant to protect single-sex spaces. These protected areas typically include bathrooms, locker rooms, and changing facilities on campus.
According to university documents, individuals are allowed to use facilities that align with their self-professed gender identity. 2. Trump’s Fight to End the Orphan Tax Nationwide - Million Voices
When children lose their parents, they face unimaginable heartbreak and uncertainty. In many cases, these vulnerable children enter the foster care system looking for safety and support. Unfortunately, many states have been quietly taking the financial resources left behind by their deceased parents.
This unfair practice is widely known as the orphan tax. It leaves already struggling children without the money their parents worked hard to provide. Helping those in need is a foundational guiding truth for our communities and our nation.
Thankfully, the Trump Administration is stepping up to stop this unjust practice.

3. First-ever LGBT judge in Texas county banned for life over misconduct complaints - Christian Post
Bexar County Court at Law Judge Rosie Speedlin-Gonzalez signed a formal agreement filed April 20 stating she “has officially and formally resigned her judicial duties effective immediately” in lieu of further disciplinary proceedings, according to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct.
The agreement, which summarizes complaints alleging judicial misconduct, states the parties agreed “the allegations of judicial misconduct, if found to be true, could result in further disciplinary action.”Under the terms, Speedlin-Gonzalez “shall be forever disqualified from judicial service in the State of Texas,” including serving as a judge, running for or accepting appointment to judicial office, or performing any judicial duties.
Speedlin-Gonzalez faced charges of unlawful restraint by a peace officer (a second-degree felony) and official oppression (a Class A misdemeanor) after she allegedly ordered defense attorney Elizabeth Russell to be handcuffed and placed in the jury box during a heated exchange. (Read more) |

FBI Director Kash Patel accused the FBI of lying to obtain surveillance warrants to illegally spy on President Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign and subsequent first term.
Trump has long accused his 2016 opponent, Hillary Clinton, and former President Barack Obama of being ringleaders in an alleged spying conspiracy against his campaign, an allegation both have denied. Patel detailed the yearslong federal investigation into the alleged surveillance on the latest episode of “Hang Out with Sean Hannity.”

5. Chinese man found guilty for running illegal biolab in California - DML News
After a weeks-long trial in Sacramento, a Chinese national man, Jia Bei Zhu, also known as David He, was found guilty on Tuesday for setting up an illegal biolab in California.
The scheme reportedly including importing faulty Covid tests from China, then re-selling them in the US and claiming they were made in the US.
Also found at the biolab were thousands of vials of biological material, such as HIV, malaria, COVID-19 and more.

The recent Supreme Court ruling on the Louisiana congressional map has created a massive shift in American election law. Justices delivered a major decision that impacts how states can draw their voting districts. This ruling specifically addresses the balance between race and map creation ahead of the 2026 midterms.

Stupidocrisy: A Seat at the Table, A Signal to the World

The decision by the United Nations to place Iran on a nuclear non-proliferation panel lands with a thud that echoes far beyond diplomacy. It raises a basic question about judgment, credibility, and the message being sent to a watching world. For more than two decades, Iran has played a careful game of delay, denial, and deception around its nuclear ambitions. That history is not disputed in serious policy circles. Yet here we are, watching an institution charged with global stability elevate a regime that has consistently tested the limits of that very stability. At some point, actions carry meaning. This one speaks loudly, and begs the question—is the UN for peace or against all countries that stand against Iran’s terrorism?
Iran’s record sits in plain view. The regime has funded and armed groups like Hezbollah and Hamas, while backing militant forces in Yemen through the Houthi movement. These are not marginal actors, they shape conflicts, destabilize regions, and target civilians. At the same time, chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” have moved from rhetoric to a defining part of the regime’s posture. Overlay that with years of concealment around uranium enrichment, restricted access to UN inspectors, and repeated friction with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the picture sharpens. Trump: Iranians Want to Protest, but They Are Not Armed

President Donald Trumpopens in a new tab on Tuesday said that Iranians want to protest the regime but are not armed to withstand a violent crackdown.
The Daily Signal’s White House correspondent, Elizabeth Mitchellopens in a new tab, asked Trump, “You said recently that if Iran—Iranians were armed, they could take over their regime. Do you plan to arm them soon?”
“Well, I don’t want to say that, but, yeah, I mean, people say, ‘Why aren’t they protesting?’ They want to protest, but they don’t have any guns,” he told her.
“They want to protest so badly, but they don’t have weapons,” Trump said.

Our hearts grieve with the Iranian people for the thousands of people who have been killed by the Iranian Regime for protesting. President Trump says the others want to protest but they have no guns to protect themselves from snipers on buildings and in the streets and he may have to consider arming them. We thank you Lord for the 4 women who have been released from execution due to President Trump intervening with Iran.
Lord, we lift up the Iranian people in prayer that are trying to protest wickedness in their nation and we ask that You, Almighty God, intervene in this battle for freedom and make a way to remove this wickedness from power. We humbly pray that You go before them leading the way under Your divine protection. In Jesus' name we offer this prayer, amen.

Evangelist Perry Stone claims US officials briefed pastors to prepare churches for UFO disclosure

Perry Stone, a prominent Tennessee-based Pentecostal evangelist and founder of Perry Stone Ministries, claimed that his friend told him a group of pastors were recently briefed by U.S. officials to prepare their congregations for the disclosure of UFOs and extraterrestrials.
"I'm not going to go into great detail, but there were a large number of pastors that had been invited to go to a certain state to hear some men in the United States government and others share with them a concern that they had," said Stone, who did not identify his source in his April 27 YouTube video, but claimed the person has "a great church."
Stone, whose YouTube channel has approximately 925,000 subscribers, said his friend told him that some of those in the meeting "were telling us as pastors, 'You need to prepare your people, and you need to get ready to answer them for what you're about to hear being released.'"
"And some of it has to do with crafts that have been discovered that are not allegedly a part of our planet, and the materials they're made of are not a part of our planet. Very strange, reptilian-looking creatures and other things that almost sound like something out of a sci-fi movie or an [H.G. Wells] book," he added.
Stone went on to place the extraterrestrial phenomenon within the framework of his dispensational premillennial eschatology that features belief in a pre-tribulational rapture, an Islamic Antichrist and a third Jewish temple purified by red heifers.
Stone claimed the officials in the supposed meeting warned the pastors that disclosure of UFOs and extraterrestrial existence will cause some Christians to question their faith and some non-believers to seek out pastors for an explanation.
Stone speculated that "government fabrications" regarding an alien invasion will eventually be used to explain away the rapture, attributing the theory to his son, Jonathan, who last year tweeted about former President Barack Obama being "an advanced humanoid AI" who used questions over his birthplace to hide that "there was never any birth certificate at all."
Perry Stone said the possibility of the government blaming the rapture on an alien invasion is "very possible" in light of events that have occurred in the past year. (The Christian Post)

This information may be alleged to have been kept in secret or created through AI. Lord, we pray that as we draw closer to Your coming, You would give us supernatural wisdom and discernment to decipher the truth in all things by reading Your word. Anti-Israel agitators clashed with law enforcement outside a Manhattan synagogue on Tuesday night as pro-Israel demonstrators waved Israeli and American flags nearby.
Footage from the protest shows New York City police officers shoving the anti-Israel group back to create a street-wide separation between the two groups. The group waving Palestinian flags and wearing kaffiyehs numbered roughly 100 and could be heard repeatedly shouting, "Israel should not exist."
The anti-Israel group, gathered less than a block from the Park East Synagogue, chanted, "Palestine will never die," and, "Stop the sale of stolen land."
The organizer of the protest was the anti-Israel group Pal-Awda NY/NJ, which previously organized a similar demonstration outside the same synagogue in November, according to the New York Post.
It was in response to that protest that the New York City Council passed legislation allowing the NYPD to place barriers around synagogues to protect congregants from protesters. Police at Tuesday night's clash were seen enforcing that barrier.
The council passed the legislation with a veto-proof 44-5 majority, but NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani refused to sign the legislation, instead dragging it out until an April 25 deadline when it automatically became law, the Post reported.

We pray that all anti-Israel groups like Pal-AWDA NYNJ that's funding and fueling the hatred against Jewish Americans will come to an end. Thank You, Lord, that the NY City Council passed legislation allowing barriers to be placed in front of Synagogues for protection. Once again, Mamdani refused to sign anything that would protect Jewish Americans from protestors. Praise God that this legislation was passed by a 44-5 majority, and has now become law. Praise God, too, that the citizens of New York have stepped forward to protect their Jewish population.
As the groups waved Palestinian flags and chanted,"Israel should not exist," we know God You are watching and waiting for a time when You will change the wicked hearts of men. Father we pray for You to change the inner corruption of hearts that lead to violent, deceitful acts. We pray protection over all law enforcement officers who are in harm's way when protests are taking place. Strengthen us, Lord, for the battle! In Jesus' name, amen.

Pentagon Says Iran Ceasefire ‘Not Over’

War Secretary Pete Hegseth said on May 5 that the ceasefire with Iran remains in force despite events in the Persian Gulf in recent days.
At a Pentagon briefing, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine said a series of Iranian attacks were below the threshold of “major combat operations.”
“Since the ceasefire was announced, Iran has fired at commercial vessels nine times and seized two container ships, and they’ve attacked U.S. forces more than 10 times, all below the threshold of restarting major combat operations at this point,” Caine said.
“The ceasefire is not over,” Hegseth said, supporting Caine’s earlier statements.
But Hegseth warned that if Iran tried to interfere with Project Freedom, the U.S. military’s operation to keep open the Strait of Hormuz, they would suffer the consequences.
“If you attack American troops or innocent commercial shipping, you will face overwhelming and devastating American firepower,” Hegseth warned the Iranian regime.

Underwater robotics expert reveals 'shipwreck city' hiding beneath major urban lake

An underwater robotics specialist is revealing a "shipwreck city" hiding beneath a lake in a major West Coast hub — and much of it remains a mystery.
Remotely operated vehicle (ROV) specialist Phil Parisi is working to verify and document nearly 100 "targets" in Lake Union, a central lake in Seattle, Washington.
The urban lake has served as a working waterway for over a century, supporting shipbuilding and vessel traffic in the Emerald City.
The expert told KING 5 that about half of those sites, which were previously mapped but not visually confirmed, are believed to be shipwrecks — and not all of them have been explored by divers.
To bridge that gap, Parisi uses ROVs to document targets identified in sonar surveys.
"We need to document what these wrecks look like today," Parisi told KING 5.
