Ex-Shroud of Turin Skeptic Reveals Why He Now Believes It’s Real:

‘Evidence to the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus’
Dr. Jeremiah J. Johnston was once a skeptic of the famed Shroud of Turin, the burial cloth believed by many to bear a fascinating image created during Christ’s resurrection. Johnston, author of “Peace of God Bible: Discover and Experience God’s Shalom Throughout the Bible,” told CBN News he is fully confident about the New Testament’s authenticity. “The authenticity of the New Testament is without question,” he said. “The Bible is a historical book and … these are books about real people, real places, real events. Our scriptures are not fairy tales. They’re not legends. They’re not lore. And they are so well-evidenced.”

Among the elements that convince Johnston of the Bible’s real and authentic take are the findings coming from archaeologists who routinely explore information and relics dating back centuries. “Archaeologists use six books to make sure that they’re digging in the right spot in Israel,” he said. “They always use these six books — Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, the Book of Acts, and then they use Josephus.” Johnston continued, “So if the archeologists who dig, and many of them are not Christians, use the New Testament because … it’s very similar with what we expect the First Century world to be like, you better believe I’m going to use the Bible too.”

The Bible expert said there are dozens of evidence-based facts that point to the life, death, miracles, and resurrection of Jesus based on archaeological sources. “Christianity … is the only religion that you can test against history, and it passes the test at every turn,” Johnston said. “And this is where things like the physical bodily resurrection of Jesus [are] so well evidenced, and what’s amazing is, I believe, as we get closer to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, we are seeing a controlled revelation of discoveries tied to technology.” Johnston specifically addressed the Shroud of Turin, which gives him peace about the reliability of Scripture. Abba Father, we rejoice over testimony given of the truth in validity of Jesus Christ walking the earth! We celebrate things revealed through archeological evidence that You have made known to the world. We pray that those who deny, or are questioning the life of Christ, would experience Him through knowledge of discoveries validating our Holy Bible.  May testimony of findings regarding the Shroud of Turin also spread far and wide and bring many to a revelation of Christ, bringing Glory to Almighty God, as we anticipate His soon return! In the powerful Name of Blood of Yeshua, we pray- Amen and Amen.

"The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law." (Deuteronomy 29:29)

In a Last-Minute Appeal, Trump Officially Endorses Cuomo for Mayor and Threatens To Withhold Federal Funding If Mamdani Wins

In a last-ditch effort to blunt the momentum of Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, President Trump is urging New Yorkers to vote for Governor Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday. The president says that he wants to withhold federal dollars from America’s largest city should Mr. Mamdani win.

The three-way race for mayor has never been particularly close, with Mr. Mamdani consistently taking around 50 percent of the vote based on polling, while Mr. Cuomo and the Republican candidate, Curtis Sliwa, dividing the rest of the electorate. Even though he is a fellow member of the GOP, Mr. Trump says that Mr. Sliwa does not have what it takes to win, meaning that he wants voters to back Mr. Cuomo.

“If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be contributing Federal Funds, other than the very minimum as required, to my beloved first home, because of the fact that, as a Communist, this once great City has ZERO chance of success, or even survival!” Mr. Trump wrote in a lengthy Truth Social post on Monday night.

“It can only get worse with a Communist at the helm, and I don’t want to send, as President, good money after bad,” he added.

“I would much rather see a Democrat, who has had a Record of Success, WIN, than a Communist with no experience and a Record of COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE. He was nothing as an Assemblyman, ranked at the bottom of the class and, as Mayor of potentially, again, the Greatest City in the World, HE HAS NO CHANCE to bring it back to its former Glory!” Mr. Trump said.

The president bashed Mr. Sliwa in the post, as well. He said the Republican nominee — who “looks much better without the beret,” according to Mr. Trump — simply cannot win. He says that a vote for Mr. Sliwa is just “a vote for Mamdani.”

“Whether you personally like Andrew Cuomo or not, you really have no choice. You must vote for him, and hope he does a fantastic job,” Mr. Trump wrote. “He is capable of it, Mamdani is not!” (The New York Sun) Read more here.

Father God, we ask that You would turn the hearts of the voters in New York City to take heed to these words of warning by the President of the United States, who for many years was a citizen of that city himself. It is never too late to change a vote, once we are in the voting booth, and to caste a ballot for the best man listed. Take heed, you citizens! The very fate of your city now lies in your hands!

Trump Says China ‘Knows the Consequences’ If It Invades Taiwan

President Donald Trump said Chinese leader Xi Jinping understands “very well” what would happen if China invades Taiwan, therefore, the topic never came up in their bilateral meeting.

“He understands the answer to that. Never even came up yesterday as a subject. He never brought it up,” Trump said in a “60 Minutes” interview that took place on Oct. 31, the day after his meeting with Xi.

A preview of the program was published online on Nov. 2.

There had been reports that Beijing was pressing Washington to change its stance on Taiwan ahead of the U.S.–China trade talks, and Trump said people were “a little surprised” they did not talk about Taiwan. “He never brought it up because he understands it, and he understands it very well,” Trump said.

The United States has maintained a position of “strategic ambiguity” regarding the defense of Taiwan. Under the Taiwan Relations Act of 1979, the United States has no defense pact with Taiwan but continues to sell Taiwan arms.

“I can’t give away my secrets,” Trump said, declining to comment on whether the United States would defend Taiwan in the event of conflict with China. He noted that “the other side knows” what would happen.

“[Xi] has openly said, and his people have openly said at meetings, ‘We would never do anything while President Trump is president,’ because they know the consequences,” Trump said. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Lord God, we lift up all Christians to you living in China and Taiwan that are suffering under this tyrannical leadership. We pray Lord that you would be with them in a mighty way. We thank you for your grace that strengthens your people. And as the corporate body of Christ, we come against all evil that is trying to oppress your people in these areas from living to their full potential. We pray that this evil would be cut off from working against your people. In Jesus' name, amen.

“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.”            (2 Corinthians 9:8)

Trump agrees Maduro’s days as Venezuela’s president are numbered in ‘60 Minutes’ interview

President Donald Trump said he does not expect the U.S. to go to war with Venezuela but defended recent military strikes in the Caribbean, accusing Nicolás Maduro’s regime of flooding the U.S. with criminals and agreeing that Maduro’s days as president are numbered.

The U.S. military has carried out more than a dozen strikes on vessels allegedly carrying drugs in international waters near Venezuela, killing dozens of suspected narco-terrorists, while the USS Gerald R. Ford and its strike group have been deployed to the U.S. Southern Command region. The escalations have raised questions about whether the U.S. may be lining up to topple the Venezuelan president.

In an interview with CBS News’ "60 Minutes," host Norah O’Donnell asked Trump about the repositioning of the USS Gerald R. Ford to the Caribbean and whether the U.S. is going to war with Venezuela.

"I doubt it, I don't think so, but they've been treating us very badly, not only on drugs. They've dumped hundreds of thousands of people into a country that… we didn't want –  people from prisons," Trump said. "They emptied their prisons into our country. They also, if you take a look, they emptied their mental institutions and their insane asylum into the United States of America because Joe Biden was the worst president in the history of our country." (Fox News) Read more here.

Heavenly Father, we pray for peace and for the truth to be acknowledged in Venezuela. Help those who are suffering under this socialist regime. We pray for justice now but set our hope ultimately in the King of kings who will judge the nations with perfect justice at His return.

"So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16 )

Trump taps massive war chest to energize MAGA voters in final 2025 election push
Republican National Committee launches 72-hour program targeting low-propensity GOP voters in final stretch before Tuesday

President Donald Trump is making a final multimillion-dollar investment in Tuesday's statewide elections in New Jersey and Virginia, in an effort to turn out MAGA voters who tend to sit out off-year elections when Trump isn't on the ballot.

Trump's political team is making a withdrawal from the president's massive political war chest, with New Jersey and Virginia each receiving roughly $1 million for get-out-the-vote microtargeting efforts, Fox News confirmed this weekend.

"What you've seen just in the last couple of days is the president and all of our Republican forces have put even more money behind our efforts to turn out our votes because that's what it's gonna come down to," Joe Gruters, chairman of the Trump-aligned Republican National Committee (RNC) said Saturday on Fox News' "The Big Weekend Show."

While Trump lost New Jersey and Virginia in last year's presidential election, he made major gains in both states.

New Jersey and Virginia are the only two states to hold gubernatorial contests the year after a presidential election, and the two contests typically receive outsized national attention. The elections are also seen as a key barometer ahead of next year's midterms, when the GOP will be defending its slim House and Senate majorities.

This year's elections are also seen as the first major ballot box test of Trump's unprecedented and explosive agenda.

The new infusion of cash from Trump's political coffers, which was first reported by Axios, is fueling the RNC's 72-hour program aimed at turning out GOP voters in the final stretch leading up to Election Day. (Fox News) Read more here.

Father God, we thank You that our President has promised a huge infusion of cash to the States of New Jersey and Virginia should the Republican candidates win this election today. May the citizens of each state see the financial blessing that awaits them and vote accordingly. In Your Glorious Name, we offer this prayer, amen and amen!

“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:16)

Within the span of an hour, the IDF struck and killed two Hezbollah terrorists, including one in the group’s elite Radwan Force, in southern Lebanon, the military said Monday evening.

The IDF named the Radwan Force terrorist, who was reportedly killed in an air force strike, as Muhammad Ali Hadid.

The Radwan Force is considered Hezbollah’s most elite unit and, positioned at the forefront of the organization's military engagements, is tasked with special operations. (Read more)

2. Despite ceasefire agreement: Hamas terrorists attempt attack on IDF soldiers
- Israel National News

Earlier on Monday, the IDF identified terrorists who crossed the yellow line and advanced toward IDF troops in the southern Gaza Strip, posing an immediate threat to them.

Following the identification, the IDF, from the air and on the ground, struck the terrorists in order to remove the threat to the troops.

Responding to the incident, an IDF spokesperson said: "IDF soldiers in the Southern Command remain deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat." (Read more)

3. Netanyahu stresses no safe passage for Hamas terrorists without disarming, IDF will not block deal - Jerusalem Post

The IDF will not actively block any deal to allow Hamas terrorists to move from the buffer zone on the Israeli side of Gaza's Yellow Line to the areas of the strip under Hamas's control, The Jerusalem Postlearned on Monday.

This comes following reports that Israel was considering allowing approximately 200 Hamas terrorists currently within the Israeli side of the Yellow Line buffer zone in the Gaza Strip to return to Rafah if they agree to lay down their weapons and disarm.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed that no Hamas terrorists would be allowed safe passage without the promise of disarmament.

“The Prime Minister continues his firm stance of disarming Hamas and demilitarizing the Strip while thwarting terrorist threats against our forces,” the statement said. (Read more)

4. Draft UN resolution said to grant US and partners broad mandate to govern Gaza, provide security - Times of Israel

The Trump administration’s draft UN Security Council resolution to establish an international force in Gaza would give the US and other participating countries a broad two-year mandate to govern Gaza and be in charge of security there, the Axios news site reports.

Citing a copy of the draft, the report says the so-called International Stabilization Force will be in charge of securing the Gaza Strip’s borders with Israel and Egypt, ensuring the safety of civilians and humanitarian zones and training new Palestinian police officers who it will partner with.

The force’s mandate will apparently include disarming Hamas, with the draft saying that the ISF will “stabilize the security environment in Gaza by ensuring the process of demilitarizing the Gaza Strip, including the destruction and prevention of rebuilding of military, terror, and offensive infrastructure, as well as the permanent decommissioning of weapons from non-state armed groups.” (Read more

5. Bodies of three fallen hostages returned to Israel and identified - JNS

Israel Defense Forces Col. Asaf Hamami, Capt. Omer Maxim Neutra and Sgt. Oz Daniel have been identified as the three deceased hostages returned to Israel for burial on Sunday, the IDF and Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said on Monday.

“Following the completion of the identification process by the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, in cooperation with the Israel Police and the Military Rabbinate, IDF representatives informed the families of Colonel Assaf Hamami, Captain Omer Maxim Neutra, and Staff Sergeant Oz Daniel that they have been returned for burial,” the IDF said.

“The IDF expresses deep condolences to the families, continues to make every effort to return all the deceased hostages, and is prepared for the continued implementation of the agreement,” the statement continued, referring to the U.S.-brokered ceasefire with Hamas. (Read more)

1. Senate GOP, Democrats looking for ‘off-ramp’ to end shutdown this week  - The Hill

Senate Republicans and Democrats are trying to hammer out a proposal to end the 30-day government shutdown as soon as next week, as some centrist Democrats argue behind the scenes that their party has successfully highlighted rising health care costs and it’s time to end the stalemate.

Shutdown fatigue on Capitol Hill is growing as the government stoppage approaches the one-month mark, and the pain is increasing.

With open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) health insurance marketplace set to begin next month, some Democrats say the higher costs are already baked in because Republicans have steadfastly refused to negotiate a deal to extend enhanced subsidies that are due to expire at the end of December.

“My assessment is that we’ve won anything that we can possibly win and the costs of continuing the shutdown are going to be felt by people who are going to food banks and federal employees,” said one Democratic senator, who requested anonymity to argue that any political benefit of extending the shutdown is about to be outweighed by the harms inflicted on ordinary Americans. (Read more)

Lord, we do pray that our political parties would be able to end this shutdown this week and restore all functions of our government.

"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you. “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never again be put to shame."            (Joel 2:25-26)

2. Government Shutdown Deepens Hunger Crisis - Christianity Today

A month into the government shutdown, The Community Hope Center began to notice different faces at its regular food distribution in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

In an average month, the center serves around 4,000 households in partnership with the city. This month, people who hadn’t needed to visit its food pantry since the COVID-19 pandemic returned, and families who had never come for food assistance showed up for the first time.

“We are seeing a lot of new people come in and different people from all walks of life,” said Sharon Camacho Meakes, executive director of the nonprofit, which is affiliated with Seneca Creek Community Church. (Read more)

Lord, We thank You for these food banks that people can go to in order to get their needs met. We pray that the communities pull together to supply these food bBanks with necessary food and supplies to help those in need, until the shutdown has come to an
end.

3. SNAP Map: Here’s Who Will Be Affected by Disruptions to Food Aid - New York Times

The federal food assistance program now at the center of a legal battle during the government shutdown serves nearly 42 million people. It pays for groceries for one in eight Americans, and more than one in three households in counties that rely the most on it.

The administration had said it would not tap contingency funds to keep the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program operating as of Saturday, threatening to halt benefits for the first time in the program’s modern history. On Friday, two federal judges initially sided with Democratic-led states and local organizations who sued to force the U.S. Department of Agriculture to pay benefits. But families now enter November not knowing how quickly any funds may arrive, whether they’ll be reduced in scale or how long the legal wrangling will last.

Here’s just how wide-reaching the program is, according to a New York Times analysis of government data. (See more here)

Lord, We pray that a way will be found to restore benefits to these families who need these funds.
You are the way maker and we pray wisdom and creativity on how to get these restored.

"And he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze." (Exodus 35:31-32)

4. Staff Shortages at 35 Air Traffic Control Sites Disrupt Travel - New York Times

A shortage of air traffic controllers, who are working without pay during the government shutdown, set off a cascade of delays at airports across the United States on Friday evening.

The Federal Aviation Administration reported understaffing at 35 facilities, including airports and other facilities that handle air traffic on Friday. On the same day, the head of the air traffic controllers’ union, which has rejected the idea that the lack of pay was causing disruptions, called for Congress to pass a continuing resolution to reopen the government, effectively endorsing congressional Republicans’ approach.

By evening, the F.A.A. had reported the staffing shortage had caused significant delays for flights departing to all three major airports serving the New York City area, as well as those bound for major airports in Boston, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. In some locations, including LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, the average delay for arrivals was longer than two hours. The shortage was also affecting facilities that handle air traffic control between airports and in areas with multiple airports. (Read more)

Lord, we just pray the government will open quickly and all things that have been affected by this shutdown will be restored, including the air traffic controls at these major airports..

5. White House restricts access for journalists to press secretary's office - Reuters

A new White House rule issued Friday restricts the ability of credentialed journalists to freely access the offices of press secretary Karoline Leavitt and other top communications officials in the West Wing, near the Oval Office.

The new memorandum from the National Security Council bans journalists from accessing Room 140, also known as "Upper Press," without a prior appointment, citing the need to protect potentially sensitive material. It said the change would take effect immediately.

The White House move follows restrictions put in place earlier this month for reporters at the Department of Defense, a move that prompted dozens of journalists to vacate their offices in the Pentagon and return their credentials. (Read more)

We pray peace over this new rule that restricts journalists from the press secretary's offices. We pray adjustments will be made decently, and in order.

6. Trump's nuclear testing plan raises fears, confusion in Washington - Reuters

If U.S. Navy Vice Admiral Richard Correll thought he was going to have an easy confirmation hearing on Thursday to become the commander of America's nuclear forces, those hopes surely vanished at 9:04 p.m. the night before he was to testify.

That was when President Donald Trump shocked the world by announcing on social media that he had asked the U.S. military to "start testing our Nuclear Weapons", saying the United States could not fall behind Russia and China.

"Russia is second, and China is a distant third, but will be even within 5 years," Trump said.

During a roughly 90-minute hearing on Thursday morning at the Senate Armed Services Committee, Correll faced repeated questions about Trump's comments from puzzled U.S. lawmakers, embodying the confusion that the Republican president unleashed in Washington and beyond.

The top Democrat on the committee, Senator Jack Reed, asked Correll whether a resumption of U.S. nuclear explosive testing would be destabilizing, triggering a global nuclear arms race.

"If confirmed as the commander of STRATCOM, my role would be to provide military advice on any discussions on the way ahead with respect to testing," Correll said. (Read more)

We pray calm over this alarm that this announcement to test nuclear weapons has caused.  We pray wisdom in the days ahead
for this testing of weapons.

7.  Here's what Trump says he and Xi agreed to in their meeting - CBS News

President Trump called his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea Thursday "amazing," and said the two reached agreements on a number of items, including the resumption of U.S. soybean sales to China and a short-term deal for access to rare earth minerals. No documents formalizing the agreements have been released yet, however.

Mr. Trump also said he would trim fentanyl-related tariffs on China. These moves should ease tensions between the two superpowers for now, though the president did not mention any long-term deals had been reached.

Xi has not personally made public statements since the meeting. (Read more)

Lord, Thank You for this productive meeting with China. We pray that tensions continue to ease between our two countries.

The Daily Jot

Go For Yourself

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, November 3, 2025

Genesis 12:1–17:27, Lech Lecha (“Get Yourself Out”), recounts Abram’s journey of faith and obedience. Called by God to leave Ur for an unknown land, Abram obeyed, taking his nephew Lot to Canaan. A famine drove them to Egypt, where Pharaoh took Abram’s wife Sarai, but the LORD intervened and restored her. Back in Canaan, Abram and Lot separated due to their vast herds. When Lot was captured, he was rescued by Abram, who then received a blessing by Melchizedek. Promising descendants as countless as the stars, God then made a covenant with Abram, and his name became Abraham, father of nations. Abraham’s faith opened the door to salvation for each of us. Here’s how.

Abram is called ha ivri, “the Hebrew,” meaning “one who crossed over” from another place. Rashi, the Jewish commentator said, it identifies this other place as Ur of the Kasdim, located east of the Euphrates river and is known as the place of idolatry: “The whole world stood on one side, but Abram crossed over to the other” (Genesis Rabbah). Abram separated himself from the world of idolatry and polytheism by worshiping the One God who is the creator of all things. Thus, “Hebrew,” is regarded as an “outsider” or “stranger” to the worldly culture. That is certainly true today more than ever, God’s chosen people are not meant to assimilate into the world, but be the light, the example of faith, like Abraham. “Abraham believed, and it was accredited to him as righteousness” (Genesis15:6). Trump says tariffs critical to national security as Supreme Court prepares landmark decision
President says decision will be 'one of the most important' in court's history during Air Force One gaggle

President Donald Trump defended his use of tariffs as critical to national security ahead of a landmark Supreme Court case, while warning the U.S. will not tolerate the mass killing of Christians in Nigeria and refusing to rule out potential military action in Venezuela.

Trump spoke with reporters on Air Force One as he flew from West Palm Beach, Florida, to Washington, D.C.

He was asked about the upcoming Supreme Court case on tariffs, which he called "one of the most important decisions in the history of our country."

"Other countries use tariffs against us, and we weren't able to openly and freely use tariffs against them," Trump said. "I'll give you an example – China. That was going to be a disaster for the world, and I was able to settle it very quickly, very easily because I was able to use tariffs. It's total national security, and economic health is also part of national security, by the way."

Trump said he will not attend oral arguments to avoid drawing attention to himself, explaining, "It’s not about me. It’s about our country." Instead, he plans to deliver a speech in Miami.

"I wanted to go so badly," he said. "I just didn’t want to do anything to deflect from the importance of that decision. If we don't have tariffs, we don't have national security, and the rest of the world would laugh at us because they've used tariffs against us for years and took advantage of us."

Trump argued that the outcome will determine whether presidents can use tariffs freely as a tool for both economic leverage and national security.

Trump warned in a post on Truth Social that the upcoming Supreme Court case on tariffs could reshape America’s economic and national security future, arguing that presidents must have the power to impose tariffs freely to protect U.S. interests and negotiate strong trade deals. Zohran Mamdani spews word-salad excuse after Barack Obama endorsement snub just one day before election
Democratic nominee and proud socialist Zohran Mamdani tried to downplay former President Barack Obama’s refusal to offer up an endorsement over the weekend — with just one day left in one of the most-watched races in the country.

“I appreciated the call with President Obama and his support for the movement that we have created,” Mamdani told reporters in City Hall Park early Monday. “I appreciated his words. I appreciated his time, and I appreciate this movement for putting us on the brink of delivering us a new city in this place,” the Queens lawmaker continued in a convoluted explanation.

Front page of the New York Post with a headline "WHAM, BAM! NO, THANK YOU, MAM" and photos of Barack Obama and Zohran Mamdani.

The former president was stumping for the Democratic New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill over the weekend, but did not make the trek into New York City to stand beside Mamdani. Instead, Obama and Mamdani spoke on the phone, but little has emerged about what the two discussed.

Since winning the Democratic primary in June, Mamdani has struggled to create a coalition of those within the moderate wing of the party. It took months for Gov. Kathy Hochul and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) to back his bid for City Hall.
Jeffries even said over the weekend that he didn’t believe Mamdani and far-left-wing politics were the future of the Democratic Party. (New York Post) Read more here.
Father God, we praise You that this Democratic coalition, which has been carefully knit together by Zohran Mamdani, is now falling apart under Your Mighty Hand! Praise You, Holy One!

As this coalition now begins to crumble, we ask for its complete demise so that the voters in New York City will either vote for
one of the two Repubican candidates, or refrain from voting altogether today.

Thank You, Father God, that You are surely in control of the affairs of men! In Your Name we shout "Hallelujah!" Amen and amen!

"‘This decision is by the decree of the watchers,
And the sentence by the word of the holy ones,
In order that the living may know
That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men,
Gives it to whomever He will,
And sets over it the lowest of men.’" (Daniel 4:17)
And Now . . . Lion of Judah: ROAR!!
"The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man;
He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war.
He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud;
He shall prevail against His enemies."

Archaeologists uncover massive stone ruins from ancient city that once rivaled Rome
Discovery shows Greek influence on Roman architects, further excavation planned

Archaeologists recently found a massive stone basin in Italy dating back more than 2,000 years — remnants of a once-powerful rival of Rome.

The discovery was found in the ancient ruins of Gabii, about 11 miles east of Rome. University of Missouri archaeologists uncovered the remains, according to an Oct. 16 university press release.

Marcello Mogetta, chair of the Department of Classics, Archaeology and Religion, estimated the basin was built around 250 B.C.

The structure may be one of the earliest examples of large-scale Roman public architecture outside of temples and city walls. It may also demonstrate how Roman architects were influenced by Greeks.

Mogetta told Fox News Digital that Gabii and Rome both "traced their descent from common ancestors."

"According to some of the stories that circulated in Roman times, Gabii was the place where Romulus and Remus went to learn the liberal arts," said Mogetta.

"This underscores the close cultural ties, but the actual relationship was more complicated than this."

"In the long term … the growth of Rome as a metropolis and superpower on the international stage worked against Gabii." (Fox News) Read More
