THE GOOD NEWS CORNER
The Evangelical Pastor Rising in California’s Governor’s Race
Evangelical pastor Ché Ahn has officially launched his bid to become California’s next governor — a dramatic departure from the policies and leadership style of current Gov. Gavin Newsom. In an interview with CBN News, Ahn framed his campaign around faith and service: “For me, Jesus is my Lord. And He was a servant leader. I want to lay down my life and serve all of California.”

His campaign website underscores that conviction, citing Romans 13: “Government is instituted by God to uphold justice and restrain evil. When a government inverts that mandate—punishing the righteous while protecting the lawless—it abdicates its moral authority. God commands us to treat the sojourner with compassion and dignity. But there is a clear difference between a lawful immigrant seeking refuge and an invader who despises our laws and engages in criminal violence.” (Faithwire) Watch Interview!
- Father, we rejoice in news of our brothers and sisters in Christ running for governmental positions! We ask for Your FAVOR to fall upon California Pastor Che-Ahn, as he is obedient to the Call You have recently placed upon his life. Your Word says that You are the One who positions men in places of authority. We pray that You would go before Pastor Che-Ahn and others who will clearly hear Your assignment and be lead by Your Hand. We declare, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, that a righteous shift is coming to America and Christians will honor the Lord as they move into their assigned governmental places of authority! By the Blood and powerful Name of Jesus Christ, we pray- Amen and Amen.

- "He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding." (Daniel 2:21)

Full Text: President Donald J. Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict September 2025
1. Gaza will be a deradicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.

2. Gaza will be redeveloped for the benefit of the people of Gaza, who have suffered more than enough.

3. If both sides agree to this proposal, the war will immediately end...

4. Within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting this agreement, all hostages, alive and deceased, will be returned.

5. Once all hostages are released, Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners plus 1700 Gazans...

6. Once all hostages are returned, Hamas members who commit to peaceful co-existence and to decommission their weapons will be given amnesty...

7. Upon acceptance of this agreement, full aid will be immediately sent into the Gaza Strip...

8. Entry of distribution and aid in the Gaza Strip will proceed without interference from the two parties through the United Nations...

9. Gaza will be governed under the temporary transitional governance of a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee... Board of Peace chaired by Trump, with Tony Blair.

10. A Trump economic development plan to rebuild and energize Gaza will be created...

11. A special economic zone will be established with preferred tariff and access rates...

12. No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those who wish to leave will be free to do so and free to return...

13. Hamas and other factions agree to not have any role in the governance of Gaza... All military, terror, and offensive infrastructure destroyed.

14. A guarantee will be provided by regional partners to ensure that Hamas, and the factions, comply...

15. The United States will work with Arab and international partners to develop a temporary International Stabilization Force (ISF)...

16. Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza... IDF will withdraw based on milestones linked to demilitarization.

17. In the event Hamas delays or rejects this proposal, the above, including the scaled-up aid operation, will proceed in the terror-free areas...

18. An interfaith dialogue process will be established based on tolerance and peaceful co-existence...

19. While Gaza re-development advances and when the PA reform program is faithfully carried out, the conditions may finally be in place for a credible pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood...

20. The United States will establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful and prosperous coexistence. (Watch.org) Read more here.

- Lord God, we thank You that You have given President Trump such a brilliant plan to end the war against Hamas in Gaza. We thank You, too, that the Israeli government has also agreed to this plan. We pray now in the Spirit over this very complex agreement with its many facets. In Your Name, Father God, we offer this
prayer, amen and amen.

- "What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding." (I Corinthians 14:15)

Eric Adams Drops Out of NYC Mayoral Race
New York City Mayor Eric Adams dropped out of this year’s mayoral race on Sept. 28, citing mounting pressure that makes it difficult to continue his campaign. Adams, a Democrat, made the announcement in a video statement posted to X on the afternoon of Sept. 28, in which he warned that “extremism is growing in ... politics” and indicated that he lacked the funds to remain in the race.

“The campaign finance board’s decision to withhold millions of dollars [has] undermined my ability to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign,” Adams said.

Adams’s announcement follows weeks of back-and-forth over whether he would drop out of the crowded race. He has been polling in fourth place behind Democratic front-runner Zohran Mamdani, Democratic former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.

Mamdani leads in the latest polls with 43 percent to 47 percent of support, followed by Cuomo with 23 percent to 29 percent, Sliwa with 9 percent to 17 percent, and Adams trailing at less than 10 percent in most surveys.

In the video, Adams said: “It’s been an honor to be your mayor. “Despite all we’ve achieved, I cannot continue my reelection campaign. I hope that, over time, New Yorkers will see this city thrive under our leadership. ... The policies we put in place should be continued and expanded.”

Adams urged whoever wins the mayoral race to “continue the work” he started in lowering the cost of living, investing in quality of life, and “reducing crime and disorder through investments in policing mental health, substance abuse care, homelessness services, and community-based initiatives.”

Although Adams did not endorse any candidates in his remarks, he made references to political extremism radicalizing children to hate New York City and the United States and “insidious forces [who] use local government to advance divisive agendas with little regard for how it hurts everyday New Yorkers.” (The Epoch TImes) Read more here.
- Lord God, we cover New York City in the precious blood of Jesus. We lift up all of the citizens in this city who are suffering due to the irresponsibility of their local government. We ask that you would bring them comfort and supernatural answers to their growing issues. We pray for the right Mayor to be elected in the coming election, so that the city would be turned around for your glory. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

- “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” (Genesis 50:20)

Who is Thomas Jacob Sanford? What we know about the suspected Michigan church gunman

The man police identified as the gunman who killed at least four people and injured several others during services at a Michigan Mormon church on Sunday before setting the building on fire is a 40-year-old Marine veteran who served in Iraq.

Thomas Jacob Sanford was named by authorities as the man who rammed a Chevy Silverado truck into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, before opening fire on the hundreds of worshipers gathered there.

Sanford then allegedly set the building on fire before being killed by responding officers. Police said they believe Sanford used an accelerant, likely gasoline, to start the fire.

At a short news conference, authorities confirmed that Sanford, from nearby Burton, Michigan, was the lone suspect.

Thomas Jacob Sanford served in the Marines from 2004 to 2008, the Marine Corps confirmed.  (Facebook / Tella Sanford)

He left with the rank of sergeant and his last duty assignment was with the 2nd Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 25, 2nd Marine Logistics Group at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Sunday's shooting began at around 10:30 a.m.

"He drove his vehicle through the front doors of the church," Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye told reporters of what unfolded. "He then exited his vehicle, firing several rounds at individuals within the church. Ten gunshot victims have been transported to local hospitals at this time, including one who has died."

Two responding officers confronted Sanford and exchanged gunfire with him, killing him, the chief said. Sanford was armed with what appeared to be a rifle, he added.

Authorities initially reported that one person had been killed. Hours later, police said a second victim died at a hospital. Later Sunday evening, police said two additional bodies had been recovered from the burned-out church. Authorities said the search for additional victims was still ongoing. - We pray that you would give wisdom to all those investigating this case so that they can find the cause of this tragedy. We pray for all who were involved and affected by this disaster, that you would comfort them and help them in Jesus' name. Lord, we continue to praise and worship you and acknowledge that you are good even in the bad times. We know that you are with us and that you will help us through every trial, in Jesus' name, amen.

- “Upon you I have leaned from before my birth; you are he who took me from my mother’s womb. My praise is continually of you.”  (‭‭Psalm‬ ‭71‬:‭6‬)
Supreme Court showdown:

Trump's strategy to test limits of his power could spell doom for administrative state
Outcome could expand presidential authority over the Federal Trade Commission and other independent agencies

The Supreme Court is set to reexamine a landmark decision about the president’s ability to fire members of independent agencies, and the outcome could expand executive power and have far-reaching implications.

The high court revealed in an order last week it would revisit Humphrey’s Executor v. United States, a 1935 decision that Hans von Spakovsky, a legal fellow at the conservative Heritage Foundation, said is now on "life support."

Contrary to the decision in Humphrey’s, von Spakovsky said agencies like the Federal Trade Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission and various labor boards ought not to be insulated from presidential firings.

"The Constitution says the president is the head of the executive branch," von Spakovsky told Fox News Digital. "That means, just like the CEO of a big corporation, they get to supervise and run the entire corporation, or in this case, the entire executive branch, and you can't have Congress taking parts of that away from him and saying, ‘Well, they’re going to keep doing executive branch things, including law enforcement, but you won’t have any control over them.’"

The Supreme Court’s decision came in response to a challenge from a Biden-appointed FTC commissioner whom President Donald Trump fired at will after taking office.

The high court said in a 6-3 emergency decision Trump’s termination of the commissioner, Rebecca Slaughter, could remain in place for now while it uses her case to take on Humphrey’s Executor, which centered on an FTC firing under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The high court found Roosevelt could not fire a commissioner without cause.

Slaughter has called her firing illegal, pointing to Humphrey’s and the FTC Act, which says commissioners cannot be fired from their seven-year terms without cause such as malfeasance or negligence.

Joshua Blackman, a professor at South Texas College of Law, told Fox News Digital that if Humphrey’s is overturned or narrowed, it will likely also apply to other agencies that have statutory protections against firings designed to preserve their independence.

"I think this ruling will necessarily reach beyond the FTC," Blackman said. "The only question is whether they maintain that the Federal Reserve is different." (Fox News) Read more here.

- Lord God, we lift up the highest court in our land to you that you would move on every single heart to do your will, and to do what’s best for the American people. We come against all bribes, lies, and deceit to try to buy a judge's decision, in Jesus' name. We thank you, Father, that all judges would implement righteousness in this case. In Your Name, Amen.

“I said to myself, “God will bring into judgment both the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity, a time to judge every deed.” (Eccl. 3:17)
FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Netanyahu after meeting with Trump: We turned the tables and isolated Hamas - Israel National News

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday night released a video summarizing his visit to the United States, during which he addressed the UN General Assembly and met with President Donald Trump, who presented his plan to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of hostages.

“It was an excellent visit - both the start at the UN and the conclusion in Washington. This is my fourth visit to Washington since President Trump took office. It’s a historic visit. Instead of Hamas isolating us, we turned the tables and isolated Hamas,” Netanyahu said.

“Now the entire world, including the Arab and Muslim world, is pressuring Hamas to accept the conditions we set together with President Trump: to release all our hostages - both the living and the deceased - while the IDF remains in most of the Gaza Strip. Who would have believed this? After all, people kept saying, ‘You must accept Hamas’s conditions, pull everyone out, the IDF must leave, and Hamas can recover and rebuild the Strip.’ That’s not happening.” (Read more)

2. Netanyahu apologizes to Qatar at White House meeting - JNS

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday amid predictions that the leaders might announce a proposal for ending the war in Gaza.

During the meeting, Netanyahu and Trump called Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who is also Qatar’s foreign affairs minister, and the Israeli premier apologized for violating the Gulf state’s sovereignty when Israel killed five Hamas members and a Qatari security guard in a Sept. 9 airstrike in Doha.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed his deep regret that Israel’s missile strike against Hamas targets in Qatar unintentionally killed a Qatari serviceman,” per a White House readout of the call. “He further expressed regret that, in targeting Hamas leadership during hostage negotiations, Israel violated Qatari sovereignty and affirmed that Israel will not conduct such an attack again in the future.” (Read more)

3. Arab, Muslim nations pledge to realize Trump’s Gaza plan; Hamas examining it ‘responsibly’ - Times of Israel

The foreign ministers of eight Arab and Muslim majority countries issued a joint statement on Monday welcoming US President Donald Trump’s vision for ending the war in Gaza and restoring peace to the region, even as the Hamas terror group, which must agree to the deal for it to be fully implemented, had yet to issue a response.

The statement, published by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt welcomed Trump’s “sincere efforts” toward ending the war, and asserted their “confidence in his ability to find a path to peace.”

Trump’s 20-point plan, titled “Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict,” was made public by the White House shortly before Trump’s joint press conference with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who confirmed that Israel had accepted the proposal.

4. Five IDF soldiers seriously hurt in Hamas attack on army encampment in Gaza City - Times of Israel

Five Israeli soldiers, including two officers, were seriously wounded and six others were lightly injured in a Hamas attack on an army encampment in Gaza City on Monday afternoon, the military announced.

The attack came hours after two rockets were launched from northern Gaza, the second time in just over a week that such attacks were made on Israeli territory, and as the Israel Defense Forces pressed on with an all-out assault on Gaza City, whose aim, Israel says, is to wipe out Hamas in its final redoubts.

The Hamas attack began at around 5:25 p.m. with a cell of five terror operatives infiltrating an army encampment and setting off two explosive devices against a tank of the 7th Armored Brigade’s 82nd Battalion. (Read more)

5. Spain blocks American ships carrying weapons for Israel - Jerusalem Post

American ships loaded with arms for Israel were blocked from transiting through the Rota (Cádiz) and Morón de la Frontera (Seville) bases, the Spanish El Paisnewspaper reported Monday.

“Rota and Moron are not a backdoor,” a source was quoted by the paper as saying. "Rota and Morón are bases under Spanish sovereignty, under the command of a Spanish military officer, and everything that happens there must be authorized by the Spanish authorities," a source was quoted by the paper as saying.

The Spanish government, which has called Israel’s military actions a genocide, says it stopped exporting arms to Israel as of Oct.2, 2023, and has recognized a Palestinian state in May 2024. The move comes as Madrid continues to cancel arms contracts with Israeli companies. (Read more)

1.  ‘They will pay a huge price for this’: Shutdown-ready Trump expects Democrats to blink - POLITICO

Administration officials believe that once a potential shutdown starts, Democrats won’t be able to hold out “very long” and that GOP allies on the Hill are aligned. They “are strapped in for a fight. They’re gonna make them vote five-plus times,” the senior official said.

The president, who canceled a planned meeting with Democratic congressional leaders last week, is also attempting to tie Democrats to what he believes are unpopular policies, accusing them on social media of wanting to “force Taxpayers to fund Transgender surgery for minors” – a charge that puzzled even some Republicans.

Democrats maintain that Trump must change his strategy if he wants to keep the government open, noting that any funding bill needs their votes to clear the Senate filibuster. Every Senate Democrat, except for Pennsylvania’s John Fetterman, voted last week to reject a clean, seven-week funding bill spearheaded by Republicans.

“We’re bracing for impact,” the White House official said. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu addresses the hostages at the UN: 'We will not rest until we bring you back' - Israel Hayom

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has delivered his speech at the UN General Assembly, where he responded to a wave of recognition for a Palestinian state, that reached a peak this week at a two-state conference led by France and Saudi Arabia.

Netanyahu's visit to the US takes place against the backdrop of what Israeli officials describe as "intensive talks" on an agreement to end the war. The prime minister is expected to meet US President Donald Trump on Monday.

During the speech, Netanyahu addressed the hostages in Hebrew: "I want to do something I have not done before. I want to speak directly to the hostages by loudspeaker. I surrounded Gaza with microphones connected to these loudspeakers. I will say this first in Hebrew and then in English. (Read more)

- We do pray safety for the hostages. And that they would be released soon, and thank You that Netanyahu is determined to bring them back safely.

- For thus says the Lord:
“Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken,
and the prey of the tyrant be rescued,
for I will contend with those who contend with you,
and I will save your children."

3. Report: Israel considers immunity for Hamas leaders in Trump-promoted plan - Israel National News

Israel is prepared to grant immunity to senior Hamas officials who are still alive as part of the principles for the plan for ending the war promoted by US President Donald Trump, according to a report published Friday evening by Kan News.

An Israeli source quoted in the report stated that immunity is on the table "because there needs to be something relevant to Hamas leadership."

So far, according to sources familiar with the matter, it remains unclear whether Hamas is willing to move forward with the plan advanced by President Trump, which is currently being discussed only with Israel and leaders of Arab states.

Sources involved in the negotiations indicate that conflicting messages are being received from the terrorist organization.

On Thursday, it was reported that the White House is advancing a plan for post-war Gaza governance that would see former British Prime Minister Tony Blair head a temporary international authority, without initial involvement from the Palestinian Authority (PA).

The plan, confirmed by an Arab source, includes a multi-year international body to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction and administration. A foreign force would be stationed in the Strip to secure borders and prevent Hamas from regrouping. The Israeli source noted the plan is “taking shape” and enjoys full support from US President Donald Trump. (Read more)

- We do pray for divine wisdom about this plan proposed by President Trump. We pray that you orchestrate all details regarding Israel and Hamas and the end to this war.

- "For a nation has come up against My land,
Strong, and without number;
His teeth are the teeth of a lion,
And he has the fangs of a fierce lion."

4. UN adds 68 companies to blacklist for operating in Judea, Samaria - JNS.org

The United Nations added 68 companies to a blacklist it maintains of firms that do business with Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, the Associated Press reported.

“Businesses working in contexts of conflict have a due diligence responsibility to ensure their activities do not contribute to human rights abuses,” Ravina Shamdasani, a U.N. Human Rights Office spokeswoman, stated. “We call on businesses to take appropriate action to address the adverse human rights impacts of their activities.”

The U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights initiated the blacklist in 2020, seeking to punish companies that it accuses of being complicit in violating Palestinian human rights.

“Israel categorically rejects the publication of the database, a document with no legal ground and far beyond the scope of the OHCHR,” the Israeli mission to the United Nations in Geneva stated. (Read more)

- Lord again, we intercede over this announcement. And we pray that you raise up support for Israel. We also pray that these announcements will be disputed. When Israel seems to be surrounded on every side by its enemies, we know no weapon formed against them shall prosper!

- "No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.

5. Germany follows through on arms embargo as Berlin weapons shipment to Israel halt - Jerusalem Post

Berlin has followed through on the partial export restrictions imposed by Chancellor Friedrich Merz last month, DW News reported on Friday, noting that not a single arms shipment has been approved since the announcement.

The restriction, placed in response to the ongoing war against Hamas, prevents Germany from sending arms shipments if the weapons are likely to be used in Gaza. (Read more)

- Lord, we intercede over this announcement by Germany, and we pray peace upon Israel. We pray, too, that you raise up support for them.

When God Seems To Be Absent

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, September 29, 2025

Deuteronomy 31:1-30, Vayelekh (“He Went”), is the shortest portion in the Torah—just 30 verses—yet it’s packed with meaning. Moses, now 120 years old, tells Israel that his journey is ending. He will not cross the Jordan River, but God Himself will go before them. His message is simple but powerful: “Be strong and courageous. The Lord will not fail you or abandon you.” Before the nation, Moses commissions Joshua to lead them into the Promised Land, a foreshadowing of Messiah guiding us into God’s promises. He then entrusts the Torah to the priests to read publicly every seven years during Sukkot, ensuring future generations remember the covenant and walk in God’s ways.

God then gives Moses a sobering prophecy: after his death, the people will turn to foreign gods and break their covenant, triggering divine judgment. “I will abandon them and hide My face,” God says, warning that calamities will follow their rebellion (Deuteronomy 31:17). This “hiding face,” or hester panim, describes a time when God’s presence seems absent, not because He is gone, but because sin blinds people to His hand. The Book of Esther shows this beautifully: God’s name is never mentioned, yet His providence orchestrates Israel’s deliverance. Idolatry leads to exile and silence, but confession (vidui) and repentance (teshuvah) restore fellowship. Esther and Mordechai’s three-day fast illustrates how earnest seeking breaks through divine silence. Read More

Top US military brass to hold secretive meeting with Hegseth as Trump ramps up Russia criticism

The Pentagon is gathering hundreds of top U.S. military leaders for an unusual meeting — one that comes as President Donald Trump has ramped up his criticism of Russia and as the Pentagon gears up a new national defense strategy prioritizing homeland defense.

Several War Department officials confirmed to Fox News that the Pentagon requested top military commanders to convene in Virginia for the meeting this week. However, the topic of the discussion remains unclear.

The Pentagon confirmed the meeting but did not offer details.

"The Secretary of War will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week," chief spokesperson Sean Parnell said in a statement last week.

The unusual meeting would involve approximately 800 generals and admirals who are based all throughout the U.S. and stationed in various parts of the world.

Those invited to the meeting say they've been told little, sources told Fox News Digital. Generals on Thursday exchanged messages from across the globe speculating on why the secretary might want to see them face-to-face.

The Washington Post first reported War Secretary Pete Hegseth’s plans for the Thursday meeting. The Post also reported on Friday that Hegseth plans to discuss "warrior ethos" with the officers.

Meanwhile, the meeting comes amid several key global and national security developments, including Trump leveling criticism and ire toward Russia amid its ongoing war with Ukraine. (Fox News) Read more here.

- Father God, we continue to lift up this huge meeting before Your Throne of Grace
asking that all You would have accomplished be fulfilled. We ask that Your grace and Your wisdom would rest upon our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, as he leads this great assembly tomorrow.

Trump Announces Gaza Deal: 'One of the Great Days Ever in Civilization'

President Donald Trump announced a plan to end the war in Gaza that Israel has agreed to, along with other important players in the region, including Qatar.

Trump said Monday at a joint White House news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Hamas has not yet agreed to the terms, but indications are that they will.

“This is a big, big day, a beautiful day,” the president said. “Potentially, one of the great days ever in civilization.”

Trump predicted that the deal reached could mean “peace in the Middle East.”

“Today is a historic day for peace, and Prime Minister Netanyahu and I have just concluded an important meeting on many vital issues, including Iran, trade, the expansion of the Abraham Accords, and most importantly, we discussed how to end the war in Gaza, but it’s just a part of the bigger picture, which is peace in the Middle East,” he recounted.

“This is far more than anybody expected, but the level of support that I’ve had from the nations in the Middle East and surrounding Israel and neighbors of Israel has been incredible,” Trump said.

The White House published the plan that Trump put forth to end the war in Gaza, which included a phased withdrawal from the territory by the Israel Defense Forces.

Will Hamas agree to this deal?

Gaza will then be governed by a temporary transitional governance committee, made up of Palestinians and international experts.

The committee will be overseen by a “Board of Peace,” which Trump will chair. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will also be a board member, with others to be announced.

Trump’s economic plan to redevelop Gaza will be implemented. (The Western Journal)

The Titanic’s Sister Ship, the Britannic, Sank in 1916. For the First Time, Divers Have Recovered Artifacts From Its Wreck
The luxury liner was requisitioned as a hospital ship during World War I. Thirty people died after the vessel struck a German naval mine and sank off the coast of Greece.

In the early 20th century, the British White Star Line set out to make the largest and most luxurious ocean liners the world had ever seen. Between 1909 and 1914, the shipping line built a trio of upscale vessels: the Olympic, the Titanic and the Britannic.

Within a decade of the Olympic’s maiden voyage in June 1911, two of the three sister vessels had met tragic ends: the Titanic, which famously sank after striking an iceberg in April 1912, and the lesser-known Britannic, which sank in November 1916 after hitting a naval mine in the Aegean Sea during World War I.

This week, Greece’s Ministry of Culture announced that deep-sea divers have recovered artifacts from the wreck of the Britannic for the very first time. The finds include the ship’s bell, a pair of binoculars and a navigation lamp.

In May, an 11-member team embarked on a weeklong expedition to the wreck site, which rests at a depth of nearly 400 feet, the Associated Press reports. The highly skilled group of divers used closed-circuit rebreather equipment to safely survey the ship. “Conditions at the wreck site were particularly challenging due to currents, depth and low visibility,” the ministry says in a statement, per a translation by Agence France-Presse.
