Congressional Democratic leaders proposed Wednesday adding hundreds of billions of dollars for health care, state and local governments, and food stamps to $250 billion in fresh emergency aid President Donald Trump wants to help small businesses weather the coronavirus epidemic.

As we approach the celebration of Good Friday, I'm reminded of the seven sayings of Jesus from the cross and of the glory and the power in each saying.

"So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance." (Exodus 12:14)

When the devil tempted Jesus, it was a real temptation. He tempted Him to turn stones into bread (see Matthew 4:1-4). What a temptation that must have been! Jesus was hungry; He had the power to turn those stones into bread. But there was another reason that made the temptation so powerful: the great need of the human race. Think of the starving people He could have fed!
